This is a good place for a light lunch. Sandwiches come with chips, no fries. (I personally prefer fries!) I ended up with the quiche and salad. That was plenty for me. I added a refreshing strawberry lemonade though I preferred his choice of mango. I looked on the label and it said the lemonades were made in New Jersey. I enjoyed the names of the items on the menu. Solid lunch spot when you're in this remote town of Bennington. Good variety of sandwiches. Traveled for work and needed lunch. Co-workers recommended Belly's Deli. Small town, so make sure you have time... bc it gets busy during lunch. If you're ordering takeaway - call ahead. If you're eating in - give yourself 1.5hrs to enjoy the meal. They have an upstairs where you have a nice view of the public stage (guessing when they have performances). The staff are very nice people, it's very homely... like the rest of the town. I got myself the Commander-In-Chief (pastrami & coleslaw + pickles), it was delish. Got a ginger ale - it's a Foxon brand! I love that CT brand soda. One happy diner. Locals swear by this place. We stopped in after a long hike up Harmon Hill. The place is so cute and the wait staff were very nice. The menu is wonderful. This is a cute little sandwich stop that my wife and I stopped at while spending time in the area. It is a deli/cafe, though I would imagine the deli is really only there to service the cafe. We purchased a pair of sandwiches and some chips, and I was quite pleased that they had some unusual flavors of potato chips for sale (black truffle anyone?). The prices seemed reasonable for an out-of-town adventure, and the food was pretty good. We took it to a nearby park and ate it there, so it had to survive a bit of a trip in a to-go box. It held up okay, but I bet it would be a lot better if eaten directly in the cafe. Heading home to Maryland, need a quick lunch stop for takeout. I see Belly's Deli with good Yelp! ratings and it's just around the corner from the town center. Easy parking across the street. The inside looks great, friendly, inviting. Good menu, good specials. I see a Turkey Pesto Melt sandwich special, looks great but I'm not a meat eater. I ask if I can get a Tuna Melt sandwich, answer: 'of course yes!' Wow! I often get the opposite answer elsewhere. And so friendly! So enthusiastic! On sourdough bread! With Vermont cheddar cheese! Counter person asks would I like red onion, microgreens, avocado? I answer: Yes! All of the above! Spouse says 'Same!' A short wait later, I emerge with two sandwiches and extra napkins because I know from long experience this will be messy. We tuck in. Delicious! Bread is fresh and perfectly grilled! The toppings add terrific flavor, color, and crunchy texture. Tuna is primo quality, not the cheap stuff, and definitely not a substance you gotta genetically test to find the tuna content. How could this bundle of deliciousness not be on the regular menu? My only suggestion: tuna was delicious and good quality, but a bit heavy on the liquid (mayo, maybe lemon?) so it was pretty drippy. I had a grilled turkey sandwich that was probably the best sandwich I have ever had. It was so big that the second half was supper tonight. Looking for sandwiches to picnic with on our day trip we decided to give this place a try. I ordered their Belly Up! Sandwich with roast beef, roasted peppers and horseradish aoili on grilled Vienna. The roast beef was tender and not over cooked. It also came with a decent portion. The aoili was on the side and tasted like your typical horsey sauce but really made the sandwich. My companions got the turkey blt, the Vermonter, the Reuben, and the portobelly and all said they were quite good. They had run completely out of wheat bread that day. Runs about $10/person and no issues with accuracy despite some substitutions. The inside is quite small and is offering indoor dining. This place is close to where I work and despite warnings not to go there from co-workers, I recently tried it. The first time I visited, I got a decent sandwich. The second time, I decided to order the same sandwich and was disappointed because it came missing a key ingredient and the toasted pita had been burnt black. The third time, hoping it was a single mistake, it came again without the key ingredient and this time the pickle that came with the sandwich was browning, shriveled and clearly had a bite taken out of it!!! THAT CAN'T BE KOSHER! I found it both disgusting and hilarious. It was like a big middle finger to me from a cook who might be unhappy with their job. I mean, who does that? Like "hey, eat this you stupid customer paying for overpriced mediocre food!" Maybe he's gonna go home tonight, pop open a beer and tell his buddies "spitting in people's food is so passe. I want them to know that I'm treating them horribly... I let it all hang out there with a shi**y pickle with a bite taken out of it!" Come on, Your Belly's... I can dumpster dive for free. I don't need you to do it with my $8 crappy sandwich. At least if I did the dumpster diving myself, I'd think to wash the food first and look for bites. Delicious sandwiches! Honestly I'm not the kind to go to a sandwich shop because I figure I can make a sandwich myself so why order it when I'm out. Well, today we were looking for a quick bite and stumbled upon Your Belly's Deli and what a pleasant surprise it was! The service was friendly, the restaurant was clean and very cutely decorated, and the sandwich was phenomenal. I don't think I've ever used that word for a sandwich but it fits in this case. I ordered the Saucy Chicken Sandwich and it was just yummy! The avocado was fresh, the marbled rye bread was the perfect touch, the sandwich and chipotle sauce was flavorful, and the serving size was large. I have absolutely no complaints. Just sad I didn't discover this place earlier on in our trip to Vermont. I definitely will have to stop by this place next time we're in town. I'm going to echo the comments made by my family member... What should have been a quick, easy, delicious stop for a sandwich was a horrible experience in poor management and non-existent customer service. We arrived at 215pm to a nearly empty establishment (2 tables with 2 diners each), ordered promptly, and waited. And waited. AND WAITED. At 245 when we asked where our meal was (2 deli sandwiches and 1 salad), we were told it would be out any minute. At 254pm, we left without being served, without an explanation, and without an apology or any effort to remedy the situation. Again, there were only 4 other diners, and we noted 4 employees. We did notice the guys cooking chitchatted the entire time we were seated and waiting. It was apparent that their social hour was more important than tending to our meal. While the menu looked great, the service was non-existent and grossly underwhelming. What a waste of our time trying to support a local establishment that clearly didnt give 2 sh*ts for us as customers today. Next time, we'll spend our money at a competitor's establishment. read more
