Our large party of 14 spent quite a bit of money here and I'm sorry to say will be the first and last visit here. The steaks were burned and tough, service with 2 waiters for our party, was not great. No children's menus are available. To say that service and food could have been much better for the prices is a definite yes. Sorry Appalachin, but you need to step up the game! read more

The butter bean hummus was a unique and delicious starter. Our entrees were the filet mignon and the hanger steak. Both were outstanding. Zach was our bartender and server and he excelled at both. Like seriously, if I had one drink too many, I might tear up with longing at the thought of the upscale and creative take on a "chicken and dumpling" dinner I ate here. The meal, drink and dessert presentations here are beautiful. And many thanks to this place for including a zero-proof craft cocktail on the drink menu, which was refreshing and well-made....and I'm a cocktail snob, ok? This place was great The best restaurant I went to the entire time I was in Tennessee. Everyone here was perfect our server was excellent the hostess was excellent The food was excellent really a great job. I made reservations ahead of time and did not have to wait unlike every other restaurant in downtown that had at least an hour wait, they had ample parking and was in the beautiful courthouse area. If you want a fancy night out (And some amazing food and service) with just you and your significant other I highly suggest you come here. I really cannot say enough great things about this place of course all the food we had was amazing but the atmosphere was so much nicer compared to the other restaurants in town. All the staff is so professional The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed and a bit more sophisticated than the downtown tourist traps full of screaming children. They have some fish dishes but can't comment on them but the steak was Excellent and grilled over an open fire! All the food was good and the service was attentive. We went in late after driving 7 hours with kids, we were close to closing time but they couldn't have been more gracious. Had the big ribeye... It was stellar, an excellent cut and cooked to perfection. Service was great and the chef even came out to make sure our steak was cooked to our liking. Fantastic food, mood, and booze! The pork belly with pickled strawberries is outstanding, and the cocktail list is incredibly strong. Their cornbread could be improved by eliminating the flour and sugar, and focusing on the (killer!) Anson's Mill white cornmeal and some great buttermilk, but that's a minor southerner's nit. Gem. Best restaurant around. EXCELLENT food. Skip the tourist traps. I am not sure why this place was not packed to the gills tonight. This was, by far, the best dinner we've had since arriving in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area. I would have gone here every night knowing what we know now! (Side note: EASY, FREE parking right across the street, and the historic part of Sevierville looks pretty neat.) James, our waiter, was excellent all around. He was new but checked on anything to which he didn't have an answer. Perfectly attentive, funny and accommodating. I had a perfect icy cold vodka martini with what must have been hand-stuffed blue cheese olives. Great wine lists, including sangria. House cocktails available that we didn't try (I really wanted a classic vodka martini!) Daughter had the trout; we all tried a bite and it was absolutely delicious! You know when you want a really good burger but don't know where to get one? This is where you get one. Burger was HUGE, cooked perfectly, and came with a load of fries. If you're ever craving a "real" burger head to The Appalachian. Two of us had the filet. Again, perfectly cooked and sprinkled with a bit of Kosher or fleur de sel. We ordered a la carte buttermilk mashed potatoes and roasted garlic kale and both were plenty to share. I almost forgot our appetizers! The fried green tomatoes on cheese grits were good enough for us to fight over, second only to the fried chicken skins which didn't necessarily intrigue me until I tasted them--they were unbelievably tasty and crispy. Visited this location in April of 2021, and had high expectations. Walked away disappointed. The food was okay but nothing spectacular -honestly a bit bland and overpriced. The Appalachian seems to be focused on being a "trendy fine dining" establishment rather than a quality restaurant. Beautiful restaurant. Inside is super clean and well decorated. The bar is beautiful white tile and they have many good liquors to chose from.
