So my Mercedes SUV Serpentine belt broke a block away from this business and I coasted into their parking lot and asked if they could replace the belt and Alexander the Manager said no problem, 1 hour labor ($80). My friend met me at their establishment and took me to get the belt and an idler pulley from a nearby auto parts store! Alexander happily put the belt and pulley on after removing the remnants of the old belt! He thoroughly examined the engine compartment and made sure nothing else was needed. I towed my car to The Auto Place and I had a bad experience. When my car got there I talked to Mr. Alex and he told me it's a radiator problem and it should cost me $700. Then I said okay please repair it for me and let me know when it's ready. I called him after several days and he said it's ready to pick up my car. I took lift ride and when I got there, he told me that he replaced the radiator, oil cooler, hose, oil and filter. The total cost is $1,100. I asked him why that much? He said he replaced some other Items to and I got mad and left with my car. After a few miles drive the car over heated and I called him. He told me to tow it to back. I paid towing and brought it back to him. Before I brought it back to him, I checked the radiator and it wasn't replaced. It's the old one. But on the invoice it says radiator replacement and so on. I didn't say nothing but told him please fix it properly and I left. Again after a few days I called him and asked him if the car is ready. He said YES it's ready. I went to pick it up and drove it a few miles and the low water shows on the display. I called him and send him a picture of the low water display. He said keep driving it no problem. I was pretty upset and I told him the truth that he didn't replace the radiator and other parts. I hate to go back to him. I took my car to other mechanic and the other mechanic said all we need to replace is OIL COOLER, HOSE and other items. He replaced them for me and now it's working properly. I don't advise anybody to take a car for repair to THE AUTO PLACE. Very bad experience!! The cost for towing and lift ride costed me a lot. It's very sad. read more

On December 3 I took my car to repair the rear brakes to Auto Place located at 4801 E Pecos Las Vegas. Alex Blankevoort who overcharged me $160 dollars to replace the pads and turn the rotors. I asked how much do you charge per hour and he answered $80 per hour. I told him that the job shouldn't take more than an hour and he ignored me. It took more than 2 hours and he charged me 160 dollars .On December 7, I called Alex to inform him that when I break, the car vibrates, but Alex immediately put the blame on the front brakes without having any idea on when the brakes and rotors were brand new. A good friend of mine had recommended Alex and gave me his number when I called him we agreed on $3,500 so I towed my car over to em having nothing but good intentions!?Expecting Alex to have stuck to his word with no hidden agenda up his sleeve was far from The Truth!While this gentleman Alex had possession of my vehicle I showed up to his garage and as expected the transmission was detached & on a lift as we were waiting for the used transmission! I called & showed up on multiple occasions all the while never getting any details or updates on apparent issues other than what was at hand! In fact he got visibly annoyed with me along with telling me off on the phone on how frustrated he was from me calling him!! I got a call from him that my car was ready to be picked up!Both in person and on the phone the agreement was that $3,500 would cover the used transmission, parts and labor In fact he did explain to me the more miles on the used transmission the less it will cost! Regardless it was paid up I was covered and my car was going to be ready with no hidden agenda! I remember clear as day asking him whether $3,500 was going to be enough for what was going to be getting done to my vehicle on multiple occasions both on the phone & in person! While I'm in the passenger seat of my vehicle he begins to explain to me the extra expenses that came up, all of a sudden? Wait a minute you just got done explaining to me in person while the transmission was right there that all we're waiting for is the transmission to show up so it can be replaced and fitted to the motor!! From that point Alex held my car hostage until I paid him $1200 that was supposedly for a replaced transmission mount that all of a sudden needed to be replace, if that was the case I told him why didn't you show me and explain any of this while the transmission mount was exposed furthermore allowing they're not to be any disputes or discrepancies, but instead he lays this out for me not realizing the huge discrepancy that he has laid out for himself to be put underneath the bus fully exposing his character, his shady business tactics, and revealing a con artist in the likes of which I ain't seen yet!!?!? In the end I ended up paying almost $4,800 oh and just so you know he had the nerve to ask and to offer to take me home which I did in his new up-to-date Mercedes guess that car note needs to be paid right this guy needs to be plastered and left to dry I'm sick of mechanics taking advantage of hard-working individuals backing them up in a corner against the wall leaving them with little or no options!! No wonder why this country that we have manifested on Earth is the way it is!! Capitalism is a root of evil that is beyond explanation and should be abolished and thrown under the bus continuously and effortlessly exposing the truth of the real American hypocrisy and what we've created!!! read more

I had a vehicle that wasn't running for 12+ months, had a handful of issues (including recalls) and was considering selling it for junk. Got recommended here by a friend so I call and ask if they can pick it up and tow. The tow was for about 15 miles and they weren't going to charge but I gave them some money for it. Very honest about the work, they could have probably told me I needed a brand new engine and I would've believed it. Told me it needed minimal work and about 90% of the cost was parts! Had all the work done early the next day (spark plugs, new battery, replaced hoses, a few other small issues), he was even cool with me texting him. Very small place in the funky part of Vegas, but definitely a diamond in the rough. Another time I visited them was because a few months later, I brought that same vehicle to the dealership for recall work (2001 Ford Escape). They tested the battery and said it was low, that it will probably only last a few weeks and I will need to replace immediately. I thought they had given me a brand new one when I brought it to The Auto Place, so I instantly thought I got duped. I call the mechanic at The Auto Place and let him know that the Ford Dealership told me the battery was on its way out when it was supposed to be new. He had no worries, told me to come down to the shop as soon as I could and that he'd test it and replace it if necessary since the part and labor had a warranty. When I get there, he tests it and it tested GREAT, just like a brand new battery should. He brings me around to the open hood so I can see him test it and he shows me the meter, everything was fine. I thanked him and tried to give him a few bucks for the trouble but he wouldn't have it. This only lead me to believe that the dealership was trying to con me into getting them to replace a brand new battery for me! All in all, these are hard working, honest guys. Its hard to find a mechanic you'll trust but I lucked out and had to let it be known the great service I got at an awesome price. *note- its inside a sort of strip mall for mechanics, its a little bit of a tight squeeze but its the first garage on the right-hand side when you pull in from Pecos. read more

I would NOT bring my car to this place again EVER ,they did a valve job on my car,it leaked oil like a sieve,brought it back 3 times ,they charged me for hoses that were not leaking.the timing cover was pouring oil out,he charged me again it total paid him 2387.00$, had to have the work redone at another shop cost of 1500.00$,he ruined my valve covers had to be replaced he used wrong bolts,left my exhaust manifold loose,I am still having repairs done to corrrect what he did ,he offered no explanation or refund I have documentation of the poor workmanship and procedures that were not followed,I wrote him a letter showing how another shop was ready to go to court if need be to show that his work was not done to industry standards,he never even replied ,stay away from this shop ;RICH A 6/26/14 read more
