Towed my durmax here when smoke occurred out the tailpipe. Their diagnosis stated they found nothing wrong and that the truck was "safe to drive". They even drove it themselves to the front of the shop and handed me the key. On the very first street smoke reappeared and the truck blew up leaving me stranded on the middle lane in traffic. Immediately called the shop in which they replied "too bad" I then towed it to a different shop, they found my oil was high and they could've prevented damage if I had brought it in BEFORE the explosion. I now need an entire new engine block... I cannot describe my frustration with AJ's auto service. They destroyed my diesel truck by lying to me, being lazy and left me with a middle finger in the midst of dangerous traffic. read more

Instead of just taking my money or not telling me, they informed me I could go to Dodge & have the repair done for free as my vehicle is still under warranty & lost the sale of fixing my van to be honest & help me out. I I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. My diesel van broke down and was towed to AJ's in the middle of the night. In the morning, they were able to take a look at it, diagnose the issue (& showed me exactly what was wrong), and ordered the part. As a full time traveler who was not familiar with the area, this shop went above and beyond to make sure I knew where the local businesses were and how to get around while waiting on the part to arrive. I brought my E350 Diesel van in for a intermittent throttle issue. of course, both times i brought it in, it always worked flawlessly. They were patient and did everything they could to figure out the issue. After days of troubleshooting, they found the issue. Apparently, a recall repair, that was listed as done, was never done (Thanks Ford Service). They repaired the issue and now the van works great. These guys are honest and knowledgeable. They don't do unnecessary repairs. Even though, they are on the other side of town, I will always bring my diesel van to them. read more

This review is long overdue! In June of 2017, my 2005 Ford Excursion diesel's radiator developed a bad leak. I feared a blown head gasket was to blame which John confirmed with some good old fashioned troubleshooting. Since he had to go that far into the engine, I asked him to "bulletproof" it to fix the design flaws. Kit was installed from Bulletproof Diesel along with a new all aluminum radiator. Workmanship was top notch and the price was fair! Mark at the front desk provided outstanding communication throughout the whole process. My truck has been running better than new for nearly a year! 2004 F250 SD 6.0 studded heads, BP EGR cooler: Recently losing small amount of coolant from degas bottle. AJ's solution: Replace factory electronic fan clutch with manual 7.3 fan clutch. Problem persists. $500 unnecessary fix. Asked AJ's to evaluate seeping of brake fluid from under brake fluid reservoir. AJ's determination: Replace brake hydro-booster even though no obvious symptoms of a bad hydro booster. Reservoir still weeping. according to other qualified techs some mild weeping is normal and ok. $1500 unnecessary fix. During same visit asked AJ's to discover short squealing noise on cold start up. Diagnosis: Cold-side CAC tube leaking thus oil on underside of hood. New CAC boot stopped oil leak but squealing noise persists. Last week back to AJ's to evaluate a mild intermittent grinding noise coming from front left wheel area. AJ's determination: stub-shaft bearing failed damaging stub shaft. AJ's fix: Replace entire axle assembly. $3000. I balked and told them I'd come get the truck. Front office guy called back and said they can just replace the stub-shaft, bearing, u-joint, and seals. Price: $2400. Second opinion from established driveline shop: 1. Tech says there is no evidence the axle assembly was disassembled as part of a visual inspection while at AJ's. 2. Problem was a failing 4x4 hub vacuum seal causing intermittent engagement of 4WD while truck is moving, hence grinding noise. Fix: Replace seal and hub. Total for job, less than $500. AJ's is either incompetent, dishonest or a bit of both. NO MORE! read more

I took my Tacoma in to see if some stripped Threads could be fixed.They took it in the back,and checked it out.They then let me go in the back so they could show me what was going on, and my options.It wasn't cost effective to have them fixed with the Hydro Coil method so he fixed me up another way.He spent about 45 Minutes of his time, and charged me nothing.These Guys are Honest,and I will return next time I need work done. read more

AJ's Auto Service was phenomenal to say the least. Super friendly, with tons of experience. Their shop is super clean, and they just know how to run a good shop. I'm new to Nevada, so I was asking for references from some of my long time Nevadan friends, they recommended AJ's and it definitley lived up to everything and more. I have many, many diesel vans in my fleet. I read the reviews and believed this shop may be the shop for me. Rather than telephone I took the time to drive there and visit the shop and management. Three days ago I drove over and met the Mark the shop manager. Mark was unsure if they could take on that many trucks? He assured me the owner John would be calling me that afternoon. Well three days later I am still waiting. Obviously, they either do not have the expertise or ability to handle our business, or have such poor customer service skills they just don't feel it necessary to call back a customer. I am just happy I realized this now rather than after I send over tens of thousands of dollars in repairs. read more

I'm 5'4" and I roll around town in a big ass monster truck...Ford Excursion Diesel that is! After many trips to the Ford Service Department and leaving with no explanations or problems resolved I became rather frustrated and in need of some guys who could get the job done right, the first time! I began doing my research and came across these guys. Yes, there is one man who has left a one star review (in more places than one) but if you have ever been to AJ's and met John (the owner) and Mark you would know that the mans story is a little hard to believe. My husband and I frequent this place and have never had an issue. John is so great and knowledgable and he always does a great job. I came in with overheating issues that Ford could not figure out and AJ's had it diagnosed in an afternoon. We ended up having them bulletproof my excursion so we could eliminate issues in the future. It was the way to go and my truck has been running great ever since. I brought it in another time because I had a loss of power and Ford just kept replacing my fuel filters (they never examined anything further). AJ's pulled my gas tank and found that I had algae growing in there. They took all steps to remove the algae and now my truck has more power than ever! Vroom vroom! I also have them do all of my oil changes. If you own a diesel you should seriously check these guys out!! read more

If I can give a zero star I would! I have always taken our vehicles to AJ's auto. In the past the prices were fair and they did good work. Of course those were smaller jobs and fixes. I then took my truck to them for a "New" engine and it cost me 6k for a 2003 Toyota Tacoma engine. About 6 months After getting the engine I called to tell them that there was white smoke coming out of the tailpipe and it would sometimes rattle and lose power while pouring out smoke from the tailpipe. He told me that does not help him and I need to bring the truck in. I did, only to be told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So I took the truck home and the problem persisted. Fast forward 2 1/2 Year's. That rattling noise came back stronger than ever and the truck finally stopped working. Only to be told by another mechanic that the engine has a hard knock and certain pistons were not firing and so on and that it would require the engine to be pulled apart and a new engine would more than likely be needed. He was also surprised that the engine used was a cheaper model and when he found out what I paid he was floored. Not just him, but also another mechanic at a completely different shop. He even quoted me a cheaper price for an original rebuilt motor for a much cheaper price. When I called AJ's to see if there was a warranty. I was told that the warranty had expired. The reason I am writing this is because after I got the new motor and experienced problems with it, I was basically told there was nothing wrong and now that it doesn't work I am being told the warranty expired. Then I am told by 2 different mechanics from 2 different shops that I paid way too much. Then I find out that the problem of the smoke coming out of the tailpipe was coolant related and ultimately the engine overheated. Why couldn't they figure this out? I also told them I was losing oil and it meant that I was putting in oil every few weeks. Wish more could've been done and they really dug deeper when I brought the truck back in after the engine swap that cost 6k. Needless to say, we will be taking our vehicles to another mechanic that we can depend on. read more

Ok, first take a look: 5 filtered reviews all 5-star.. Yelp filters these for a reason... likely fake. Here's MY experience: John used to work at a dealer and did side-work at his home (I later found out he wasn't licensed and it was against his employment contract with the dealer for him to do this). Anyway, I talked to John right before he opened his actual shop, got a quote on install of an aftermarket exhaust manifold for a 5.9 Cummins. He said, "wait until I get the shop open." Ok, so I dealt with diesel fumes for a couple weeks. He finally opened, I took the truck in, he then told me it was going to be $100 more than he originally quoted. He was still less than the other places so I went ahead. Everything seemed fine, until about 2 months later, one of the stud bolts worked its way completely out... I sent a photo of it to a friend of mine who is a diesel mechanic in Michigan, and just by the photo he pointed out 2 other things wrong with this job... seems John had re-used the studs instead of using new ones... he also put the studs in the wrong places because one stud was supposed to be longer so it would hold a bracket. He used the longer stud in a different spot and the shorter stud where the longer one should be. So, I call the shop, guy says "bring it down, he can put that stud back in for you". I drive 40 miles to get there, pull the truck up to the overhead door and out comes John with a BIG ATTITUDE, half yelling at me about "don't park your truck in the way of the door!". Sorry, John, I figured a 2 minute job putting a stud back in wouldn't be a big deal, and it would save you walking across the entire parking lot... He then informs me that I need to bring the truck back down "later this week" (I live 40 miles away, so that means an entire 80 mile trip)... and that "I'm going to have to charge you $80, and you gotta leave your truck here all day." $80 to put a bolt back in??!?!? A bolt that he installed incorrectly? And installed 2 other bolts incorrectly, also? And, he can't just do it while I'm there (10 minute job?) Instead I gotta put 80+ more miles on my truck? I pointed out the other 2 incorrectly installed bolts, to which he answered, "So why didn't you call me about that 2 months ago?" Well, John... I didn't know- I'm not a pro like you are... and now it's my fault it's wrong? My question: "Why didn't you do it right the first time?" I was probably one of his first customers when he got his new shop... I took a leap of faith with him, I recommended him to MULTIPLE people... I overlooked the bait-and-switch the first time, and then all the sudden today he gets attitude and wants to charge me for fixing HIS mistake? Obviously, not happy and wouldn't ever go there again. I suggest you think twice before going there also. read more

Wow! Originally nothing but great things to say about this place until today. We recently had work done here on our 2004 truck everything was fine, we were pleased. Then suddenly truck breaks down we take it back it had another issue, they fixed it but this time the mechanic was in a rush and neglected to put the screws back in the rotor cap. That being said it clearly ruined the rotor cap and the truck broke down again. We had to have it towed home we replaced the cap, and next day truck broke down again. We had it towed back to the shop for them to look at since they warranty their work. 2 days later its fixed (faulty parts from manufacturer), however we were treated incredibly disrespectfully and were told to never come back. Wow again. I can't believe we were treated this way. I will never recommend anyone to this shop for anything. Good luck to your business read more

To say that these guys are knowledgeable mechanics, running a customer service based shop doesn't even begin to cover it. I wish Yelp had a sixth star just for the level of customer service and satisfaction that these folks strive for. I have yet to experience this in Las Vegas since moving here a year and a half ago. It was time for my 6.0 to get prepared for its second 150,000 miles, and these guys had the gear and the know-how to get it done. After head gaskets, studs, rear main, and bullet proofing my truck, it was ready to go. It didn't matter what little issue I might have, all they care about is getting it right and making it perfect.
