I did a walk in and the Office Mgr. helped me and listened to my description then jumped into action right away running diagnostics to identify the problems, walked me thru the costs before doing any work on my car. This shop and its employees are simply amazing. I dropped my car off for a check engine light and found it was my catalytic converter, that was replaced by a different shop. Instead of doing the work, they sent me back to the original shop. A month later, the check engine light was back on and the staff at TJ's did another diagnostic and it came back with the same code. AVOID THEM NOW: JOHNNY RETIRED & THEY ARE PRETENDING HE'S STILL THERE TO KEEP HIS LONG-TIME CUSTOMERS. I've been going to Johnny for 10 years; his work was always impeccable and priced for working people. However, unbeknownst to me, he retired and sold the shop to someone managed by a woman named "Sabrina." Johnny sometimes goes on vacation December to February so when I stopped by for service and "Sabrina" said, "Johnny was gone on vacation for 3 months but we have some of the same mechanics and 2 from next door. Johnny has expanded and he hired me to manage the shop so he doesn't have to close for inventory." My husband said don't go to them if Johnny is not there but unfortunately I did not listen and made the appointment for what I thought was a headlight bulb change and a catalytic code that came on this time last year; Johnny installed a new cat February of last year so this was not supposed to happen. He honors all his work so I took the receipt and showed "Sabrina." She said we'll take a look and call you. We picked up the car, she said nothing wrong with the cat but your spark plugs were old so we changed those, test drove it for 100 miles to "reset" and got the smog done." Red Flag: Johnny never suggested fixing something that didn't need fixing. I paid, took the car home and the very next day, the car starting shaking, stopped, and would not go into gear. This car never had any major wrong. It's a Honda with low miles and in great condition. I called, Sabrina hung up the phone. I called back twice and finally she answered. She said "Oh no, I will send a tow truck for you and Rico who is a master tech." Rico showed up and looked under the hood, closed it and said "yeah it needs to be towed." No @#$%! Once the tow company got the car back to TJ Auto Repair, it took another 2 hours before Sabrina said we don't know what's wrong. Literally, her "master tech Rico" had no answers. I called my mechanic at Honda and he said watch out if they try to say it's something else. Sure enough after another hour, Sabrina comes back out to us and says "you have a CVT transmission and they are known to burn out without warning." That's true for Nissan but not Honda says my Honda mechanic: Honda transmission last over 200K. Honda serviced and inspected my car every 3K miles. If there was something they recommended that was pricey, I would take it to Johnny and he would either say "yes that's needed or no that's the dealership trying to get your money." So from there Sabrina acted extremely sketchy and when I asked to contact Johnny, it turned into Johnny is out of town to Johnny is here shopping before he goes out of town to Johnny will come and look at it at 8am before he leaves town. She said "I got him on the phone" so I said good can I speak to him. She said I'll try to reach him for you but then claimed he wasn't answering the text so she sent him my number for him to call me. Johnny never called which is not like him. We showed up with AAA the next morning at 9am and towed the car to my mechanic at Honda. Upon a deep dive inspection, the tech found a "crystal brown liquid in my transmission and said something metal was inside of it. It's aluminum and should not be magnetized." He then showed a pan that immediately stuck to my transmission. So, Sabrina and friends ruined my transmission which is what I was afraid of. I will have to sue them for malpractice and in the meantime, I'm without a car. Look up the case of Duiane's Automotive in Henderson NV who just got shutdown, sued and fined for the same thing "returning perfectly drive-able cars to customers un-drive-able." Listen to your gut and heed warnings from loved-ones. This is going to cost me thousands and maybe having to purchase another car. I looked up TJ Auto Repair Inc. corporate filings: Johnny dissolved his ownership January 4, 2024. So if you go there and Sabrina the Witch lies and says Johnny will be back in 3 months: he will not. If you're thinking of repair your car here without any knowledge about mechanic don't do it because you will be overpriced and you won't be able to discuss the prices with the representative. That happened to me and the person who attended me was so rude. I was just trying to change my radiator and previously I checked the AutoZone' s prices and there' a 90 dollars and lifetime warranty , and they want to charge me 340$ .So I told that to him hoping to agreed in a razonable price for the service. Sadly it never happened because the attendant didn't want talk a word about it and I was kicked off without any manners. Was driving around when I spotted TJ Auto Repair sign. Took a chance and struck gold!!! What a delight to find a good mechanic who knows what he's doing and an honest one to boot. Johnny said it would take an hour to repair my van and gave me the price for the hour. Job took 2 hours but Johnny wouldn't take payment for the extra hour of work. Stood by his quote. Johnny told me he'd start on my car in 15 minutes and he was. Car works great now. Great recommendation for anyone who needs auto work done. Can't rave about him enough. read more

If your AC freon is too low to engage the compressor, Johnny will insist the compressor is frozen. I caught him in that lie, and he admitted that it only ended more freon. You can catch him lying about the AC compressor if you make sure it's not frozen up before you take it to him. My car alternator quit charging, so I took it to him. I typically ride my Harley and put very few miles on my car. Less than 3000 miles and the voltage regulator on the alternator he supplied went out and fried a bunch of fuses and relays, as well as the battery. The worst part was I was just outside Reno and I was getting 17 volts through my electrical system. It fried my battery 'till it boiled all the water out. I called Johnny and he told me, "sometimes the alternators last less than 2 years". He then told me to unplug the 2-wire clip from the bottom of the alternator and it would be fine, but I would have to plug the clip back in after 50 miles to recharge. I got to reno, bought a voltage meter and found the alternator was still putting out 17 volts. I had to have pep boys in reno put another alternator in the car, but the damage to my electrical system had been done. I will never use or recommend this shop to anyone.. After I had them install the alternator, but before the alternator went out, the car was running rough. I took it to Johnny to see if he had a Consult diagnostic tool to determine what the issue was. He told me he had the Consult. He didn't have a consult. He replaced one coil. It cost me $480 to have that done, and the car still ran rough, he wanted to start changing injector clips. I was pissed he didn't have the Consult diagnostic tool in the first place. I decided to take it to the dealer in Scottsdale AZ to have it checked. It was a loose harness clip they fixed it for free. All of the injectors tested fine. It ran great until the crappy alternator voltage regulator on the JUNK PART JOHNNY INSTALLED GAVE OUT and fried a bunch of electrical components. The reason the guy wants to supply the parts is because he uses JUNK PARTS that will only last a short time, but he can make his mark up on them. Put that with the fact he will lie about your AC compressor being frozen when it just needs a freon charge, and you have a dishonest mechanic. Using this garage because you think this guy is a good deal might cost you huge dollars in the long run. Like he told me.... Sometimes the parts he uses only last a little while. TAKE YOUR CAR TO A GARAGE THAT WILL WARRENTY THE PARTS FOR MORE THAN 12 MONTHS. 12 MONTH WARRENTY = JUNK PARTS, AND JUNK PARTS WILL CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN THE MONEY SAVED BUYING THEM. read more

Very caring and professional, with special expertise in Ford since the owner used to work for Ford. I was towed in mid-day with an ignition switch failure and Johnny handled the problem right away. Another time I had a radiator hose leak fixed by another shop 60 miles away, but they didn't fill the system properly so I arrived at T.J.'s with my radiator only half-full. It was 4:45pm but Johnny still got me taken care of! Only reason I'm not still going there is that about a month later the engine on that car started to fry so I got rid of the car. read more
