My friends took me here for my birthday, and it was such a wonderful experience! The location was beautiful, and the atmosphere made the celebration even more special. The customer service from Forrest was truly above average--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Thank you for making my birthday so memorable. I would definitely recommend this place!

As someone who has visited The Lafayette, I was really excited to visit The Baby Grand. Unfortunately, I won't be returning here. First, the valet is $18 which is so expensive. However, we know how busy Coronado is on a Saturday in June, so we decided to bite. The decor is great, just like The Lafayette. However, this establishment is a small fraction of what The Lafayette is like. I was hoping to see similar amenities, such as a bowling alley, multiple restaurants, a pool, a jazz club, etc. The only things this place has is hotel rooms, bars and a large dining area. That was pretty disappointing. There was a bit of a long wait for us to get a drink at the bar. However, a bartender stopped to ask me if I had questions about the menu, which was really nice. Besides that, the overall vibes from the bar staff were really low. I enjoyed a glass of Rose and my bf liked his Moscow Mule. There aren't sinks at the bathroom, or we couldn't find them. My stall was out of toilet paper. All in all, it's a pretty place with nice decor, but it will cost you a pretty penny. Don't expect much beyond the bars and restaurant.

I actually got reservations and went to lunch with a friend. We celebrated her birthday and got special wishes from everyone, and a dessert and special cocktail. Wow! They say the menu items are to share, which is great, but 2 orders for 2 people was plenty and delicious. We even got to see a few hotel guests using the beach and small pool. Fun place to go.

The food, drinks, and ambiance all amazing. The only thing is the service is a little ehhhh, but they are brand new and learning! Will be back to try more!

I absolutely loved this place, only came for drinks not for dinner not sure how the food tasted but my espresso martini was delicious the banana twist made it extra delicious. This is a great place to come on a date, or a girls night will definitely return.

I was wowed by the decor this place is truly beautiful, as we entered there is a full bar to the right of us first come first serve they don't accept reservations for that. To the left of us was the restaurant, reservations are encouraged this place was pretty busy on a weekday I can't imagine what the weekend looks like. You're free to roam around and sit by the lagoon which is beautiful or grab a drink at the bar. We also spotted a full service bar towards the end of the building and noticed people were being served from the restaurant menu we only visited the front bar. The drinks are good a little pricey but your paying for the ambience

This is the best place to go when you want something unique and special! The atmosphere is Disney quality, the drinks leave you wanting more and the food is so tasty you can't stop eating it. The bathrooms are also worth visiting.

Visual dopamine to the max! So much symbology behind every detail of this fabulous hotel/bar/restaurant. What an oasis of pure colorful joy filled with different patterns, shapes, fun and fastuous items. As a fan of design and colors, and everything done by the hospitality group behind The Baby Grand, I find this hotel as a breeze of modern, maximalist and charm opposed to the sometimes rancid and predictable places in Coronado. While I value the design and greenery and beautiful velvet uniforms the most, I enjoyed very much so friendly everyone working there was. What a great and beautiful crew! I liked that for this first time my friend and I only wanted to get our capuccinos and we got them at the bar with the most luxurious looking ambiance (and fun factor, like when you finish your coffee the face of what it seems to be a Greek philosopher pops up from the cup like bathing in the foam. Very cool. The 'pool' area is retro chic and a wink to its big sister Lafayette hotel. Food will have to wait for another day but we loved all we saw and we also met a 70 year old lady celebrating her gorgeousness there. Such a relaxing place open conversations up. Oh, did I tell the the playlist is fabulous and eclectic? Simply great. Can't wait to go back again.

I'm going to give the baby Grand Hotel and NightHawk restaurant three positive traits And three negative traits So the positive part is that the waitresses were very, very sweet. Also, the food is pretty darn good The third positive point is that this place is absolutely beautiful Now sadly, the negative things. So the first thing is, I nicely dropped off my party at 12:30 PM for lunch and I went to Park It took me almost 1 hour to park Then when I did park across the street underground at chipotle it cost $40 for two hours So the sad part of that is, we won't be coming back here and we're locals, which is very sad So then it's just lunchtime, but it's so loud in here with the music and the beautiful waterfalls and everything that we are yelling to try to talk or hear one another, which is generally annoying. To add to the noise, someone / workers are drilling near the bar. So I guess we're just leaving. Also, this is San Diego a Millitary town where people don't have a ton of money but I think the place is way way overpriced for instance The 14 day dry age tomahawk steak 36 ounce is $190. It is shareable but most San Diego people don't spend that much at lunch. :-( Oh, and lastly, the ladies's bathroom is only 1 stall for one person and it's really really dark and awful. so I guess if you already know about it to begin with it's not so bad. Oh, and it's men and women.

Don't come for the drinks no alcohol and long wait time

Review is more for the general bar area less of the actual hotel itself. Overall don't come for food or drinks just walk around for the ambiance. Came Saturday evening around 6 pm knowing it would probably be a little more busy given it's a weekend. Overall 2 drinks took almost 30 mins to get and the drinks tasted like it had no alcohol in it and this is coming from someone who is VERY lightweight. Person who took my order immediately left after I closed out the tab and I couldn't find him. When he finally came back all he was doing was bussing. One person was making drinks for the entire bar area and the restaurant which is crazy. I asked the person who helped me worried they might've forgotten and he gave a sassy response. To top it off a couple who ordered 15 mins after me got their drinks before me and when I finally was able to talk to the person who's making all the drinks he says "Sorry I didn't take your order so I didn't know those were your drinks". Personally a bad excuse cause that's not how a bar should work anyway if you're delegating all cocktail making to one person. I have also been to the speakeasy Fallen Empire which is reservation only. I got the tequila & mezcal drink which personally, fell short for me. Service was maybe a tad better compared to the general bar area.

The ambience was definitely IG worthy. Such a cute tropical theme. I wish the menu had more selections. Not much for meat choices. But overall the food was still pretty tasty. The cost for drinks was above average... almost 20.00 for each cocktail. Come for the vibe and be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation.

This hotel is GORGEOUS! You can tell that every crevice has been detailed and thought through. I love the pool so much, it's such a cool relaxing design. The rooms are gorgeous and well maintained.

I'm a big fan of the Lafayette Hotel over on El Cajon Blvd and so I had high expectations for this new hotel/restaurant/bar which is owned and operated by the same people. My initial impression was that the space was architecturally crowded/busy and could have used a central open space for hanging out. There's a small decorative pool which would have been a perfect space for this. The overall vibe is Middle Eastern meets Pirates of the Caribbean. Some of it really works well like the opulent, tented bar and the little speakeasy room. Some of it looks gimmicky. It will be interesting to see what the more local/family-oriented crowd thinks about it once the influencers are gone. We were there on opening night and all of us expected hiccups. We got a few. Some menu items weren't available. Some basic non-alcoholic drink options (like ice tea) just didn't exist. The food was a mixed bag. The mezze appetizer was good and the waiter brought us some extra pita bread. The French fries were terrific. The cauliflower was under-seasoned and bland. I ordered the chicken skewer plate and didn't eat most of it. The chicken pieces were tiny and had a very odd texture. The accompanying vegetables and spicy green sauce (kind of like a chimichuri) were terrific! I'd say give them a few weeks to smooth out the kitchen and wait service. Our waiter Christian was fantastic! He had a lot to deal with and was a total superstar.

Three cheers for Sandra and for the Del!…read more Service has gone downhill since Hilton acquired it. But we love this location so much we suck it up now and then to have a little staycation in this magical place. At check in time there was a huge line: the computers had broken! We left our luggage and got a snack at ENO Market. And luckily by the time we finished, the line had cleared and they had brought over extra folks to work reception. We were lucky to get Sandra who normally works at the more upscale Shore House on property. She was very apologetic about the line and also saw that we have stayed here at several times. My sweetie is Hilton Gold and they were initially going to upgrade us from our basic The Views room to a "Victorian room with a view". No thank you! Del veterans know that the historic hotel rooms are small and with no privacy, because of the courtyard. So Sandra looked again and managed to get us a beautiful upgrade to the ocean view room in The Views, which was amazing. And when we woke up, we had a note under the door saying we also had complimentary buffet breakfast at the veranda because we have an American Express Hilton card... and we also got $100 off our meal the night before at Serea! So in short an amazing stay that was an incredible value for the Del. Sometimes we stay somewhere else "cheaper" in Coronado and then come out and hang here. But this was a super deal. The credit card is absolutely worth getting if you like the Del! (last pro tip: service at the hotel can be spotty and the food very expensive if you don't have a credit. ENO market and pizzeria is the best value on property. But if you get Brett as your server at Serea, and sit outside, you are still sure to have a magical time!)

First, the good: The property has been nicely upgraded since I last stayed here in 1978…read more Now the rest. We checked in at 5pm. Thankfully the line was not long but the process takes a while so you can still wait 10 minutes even if you are first in line. The clerk was very nice but I could sense she was going to shaft us and sure enough we ended up in a tiny room that was down a long corridor with a view of nothing but rooftops. Probably one of the worst rooms in the hotel and maybe used to house the maids but now sold as a regular room to maximize revenue. So naturally we marched back to the front desk and thankfully found another clerk who could not have been more wonderful. Shocker, she was unable to find anything else that night (800 rooms, 5pm checkin, nada) but was able to convince the manager to let us upgrade the following day to a higher category room for $75/night (regularly $225). Of course this means packing up after one night and checking into a new room but we decided to do it because the first room was so mediocre. The next morning we stopped at the front desk at noon and were surprised and delighted to find the new room ready. It was like night and day - about 2x-3x larger with an elevated sitting area, a couch, and a sea view even though it was not ocean front. Well worth the upgrade fee though kind of sad that you have to pay extra just to get yourself removed from the worst ROH. Not that everything was perfect - the following morning we were awakened to children running wild in the room above ours (apparently a special turret room or something) - it was so bad that I had to knock on the door and was greeted by a displeased parent who apologized and said they were checking out. Bueno. Don't come to this hotel enjoy the water. The ocean is polluted by sewage from TJ and not recommended for bathing. The next day we arrived at the pool only to find it was closed for the day after a child had exploding diarrhea. So much for that. Someone asked management if they could use the special spa pool reserved for mucky mucks but was told that was off limits. On the plus side beach drink service was excellent, but $8 for a diet coke plus a mandatory service charge seems excessive. Similarly I think it was $25 for a cookie and a couple of soft drinks at the lobby snack shop. I was tempted to buy a yogurt parfait but I could not justify it as the cups were only half filled. It is one thing to gouge customers, quite another to cheapen the product. For those who want to save $$ there is a chipotle across the street from the property where you can get large soft drinks (and return for free refills, as the cashier explained) for $3. If you plan to spend all your time at the resort, save yourself the parking gouge by taking a $31 rideshare to/ from the airport. Overall I can say that the staff was very nice, the bar area is fun and the food served at the hotel restaurants is excellent. However I do not plan to return as there are so many properties in San Diego that have nicer rooms, nicer pools and nicer beaches for a fraction of the price.
