We called today - 1 week before the wedding - and a worker named Jesse Villa told us he had canceled the cabana reservation for a fantasy football celebration. He admitted to booking this well after we received a confirmation email and gave a credit card for our reservation. He was extremely rude and condescending over the phone. He trash talked his own staff and blamed them for the communication issue, even though he is the events manager. We will no longer be supporting this business and it breaks my heart to say as we were regulars.

Greek Salad - Again nothing special but just an ordinary Greek Salad. The decor is nothing short of A LOT and a bit gaudy just like the Lafayette Hotel. There is a lot to look at and that includes the outfits the female bartenders and servers were wearing. I felt bad for them with what looked like velvet or extremely non-breathable material in the humid summer heat and working outside with not AC. Bartenders were nice and attentive when we first sat down but shortly went MIA as more people sat down at the bar. A rare find: Rudy at the front desk…read more I called the Catamaran to book spa reservations and reached the front desk after the spa had already closed for the day -- entirely my timing, not their fault. Rudy answered, and instead of just apologizing and moving on, he offered to take down my information himself so he could pass it along to the spa first thing in the morning. I've been a hotel GM for over twenty years, and I don't say this lightly: what Rudy did is the kind of service you can't train into someone. Anyone can transfer a call or take a message. Rudy actually followed through, made sure I felt heard, and took ownership of a request that wasn't even his department. That instinct -- to go the extra step because it's the right thing to do, not because a script told him to -- is something you either have or you don't. Rudy has it. When I thanked him, he seemed genuinely touched just to be treated kindly in return, which says a lot about how rarely people take the time to appreciate good service these days.

General Manager Deborah is a scandalous person acting like they are trying to help but not giving me the right information to even proceed with the insurance claim then they fight it instead of taking responsibility. Now my insurance rates could go up because i filed a claim and they arent taking responsibility. This hotel makes way too much money to act so scandalous and cheap. The resort has a private beach area on the bay and you can rent bikes, kayaks, canoes or jet ski to ride along the bay. We rented a three person two pedal covered bike and rode along the bay to two different parks. There are kid friendly activities throughout the day like mat Pilates, ceramics or clay figures and in the evening you can watch a film on a projector in front of the fire pit. Everyday is something different. There are live bands at the neighboring bar on the property. You can also make a fire pit on the sand. The pool is nice and spacious, there are hot tubs and unlimited towels via a dispenser machine and sunblock for free. You have to come here and enjoy this resort when in Mission Bay watching the sunrise.

Our group spent well over $10,000 at the resort between rooms, restaurants, drinks, pool service, parking, and other purchases. Unfortunately, the weekend was one disappointment after another. The issues started immediately and never seemed to stop: * I was promised a bottle of Prosecco that never arrived, despite asking **four different employees** throughout our stay. * We experienced significant check-in issues because the primary person on our reservation was delayed, and there seemed to be very little communication or flexibility regarding our group reservation. * The parking gate and key system rarely worked correctly, making every trip in and out unnecessarily frustrating. * One room had a soaking wet floor and bed upon arrival. * I encountered a bathroom attendant who was surprisingly rude during what should have been a celebratory weekend. * On our final day, I was locked out of my room while we were trying to prepare for departure. * Most frustrating of all, we experienced a complete billing and payment fiasco. Because we had 14 people staying in four villa rooms, we worked out the financial arrangements before arriving. We specifically discussed billing with staff and were repeatedly assured that the credit cards on file would **not** be charged because we had already determined how expenses would be handled. That isn't what happened. Unexpected charges began appearing on cards that should never have been charged, creating complete chaos. Instead of enjoying time together, members of our group were trying to determine who had been billed, who still owed money, and how to untangle a situation that should have been straightforward. For a group this large, financial planning doesn't happen casually. We had already done the work before we arrived, which is why this breakdown in communication was so frustrating. What was most disappointing wasn't any single issue. It was the constant feeling that there was **always another problem**. Every time we thought something had been resolved, something else went wrong. It also became clear that communication among staff was severely lacking. We repeatedly found ourselves explaining the same situations to different employees because information simply wasn't being shared. Your bachelorette only happens once. The Good: - Great location at the center of Coronado right by all the shops/restaurants as well as the beach. - Really cool decor and overall vibe, whoever designed the hotel did a great job! - The rooftop restaurant/bar Dive was really great. We didn't try any food but our drinks were great and the staff was accommodating yet not overbearing. The Bad: - Super lean hotel staff. Only saw 3 employees during our entire stay and that showed in the service. Single employees were doing multiple jobs. For example, the valet guy was seen in the morning cleaning rooms as well. The front desk attendant then acted as the valet guy in the morning as well. - Front desk attendant is in need of more training. Upon check in, he wasn't aware of the hours of the rooftop restaurant. He also didn't tell us the access code for the WiFi which we had to request after the fact. We requested a later check out (12pm rather than 11am) and the request was granted, but our key cards locked us out after 11am and we had to get new cards made. - We got a Premium King room and it was VERY small. Reminded me of a European hotel room, which shouldn't be the case for somewhere in California. - Lots of cleanliness issues: There was a large stain on the blinds, the shower was dusty and even a bit moldy, and when we got into the bed at night, there was a ton of sand under the sheets (see pictures). It was obvious the linens either hadn't been cleaned at all or weren't cleaned properly. The sandy sheets were our last straw. We called the front desk at that time around 9:30pm and asked what they could do to make this right in the morning as we were too tired to have linens changed or change rooms at that point. The attendant told us they would make things right in the morning, but we never heard back about this. Just ended up sleeping on top of the comforter for the night. - Iron/steamer was broken in the morning so we called down to the front desk to ask for a replacement. They said they would send someone up in a second, but we never received the replacement iron/steamer and ended up having to use our friends'. Honestly just a really disappointing stay altogether. For calling itself a 5-star hotel and charging almost $800/night for a room, we expected a lot more from this hotel. Would not recommend.
