Staying about 2 miles away, needed a place to eat late in evening. Found on Yelp and menu options were good. Chose a combo of 1/2 rack of ribs and steak medallions. A local business, we decided to give it a shot. It's not fancy, but the food is better than the decor. My mother ordered the chili cheese burger, my brother tried the beef fajitas, and I went for the full rack of baby-back ribs so I could share with my brother. We had a wonderful waitress, Erin, and were really pleased by the relaxed down-home atmosphere where our neighbors felt comfortable talking to us over the top of the booth. The ribs were perfectly cooked, juicy and --- once I asked for a side of BBQ dipping sauce which they'd forgotten to bring --- a real treat at a very reasonable price. My mother said it was the best burger she'd had in years and got downright hostile when my brother and I yanked it out of her hand for a bite (she liked the smoke and bite of the chili, and the patty was huge). The two of them enjoyed their margaritas. I ordered fries with the ribs and then asked the waitress what the best other side was to order (they give you 2 sides on entrees). I nearly choked when she said to try the green beans of all things, but they were totally fantastic and a great recommendation. They're grilled, with a little sauteed onion and almond, and absolutely wonderful. Next time I'd just ask for a double order of those green beans, served hot but with a nice snap still left. The service is good and the food is just alright. I ordered the Belgian waffle combo that came with a waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage patties and added a side order of sweet potato fries. Everything was great except the temperature of the food. My waffle came out cold to the touch and the rest of my meal seemed as if it had been sitting for a while. Best ribs in Cypress! I've had their burgers too, which are just as fantastic. They have a huge menu, so there's something for everyone. The blackberry pie and bread pudding are to die for. Awesome CRAFT beer selection and really cool atmosphere! My dog loves the outdoor patio and they always have a water bowl for her :). Didn't really understand the hype around this place. I guess since Cypress is kind of dull food wise, this place is pretty popular? For me, it fell very very short in every way possible. Parking - there's tons. Even on a busy night you're going to find parking. Interior - i'm honestly not even sure how far back this goes since there's a giant tree in the middle... But it's kind of run down and dingy. Food - Ordered nachos and stuffed jalepenos for my appetizer. Nachos were good, plentiful but i'm still not sure why places put lettuce in nachos. Weird. The Stuffed Jalepneos however were gross. They were burnt and not really stuffed with much of anything. For my entree I had chicken fried steak. Bland. Also, where's the steak? All I could find was the THINNEST piece of steak covered in bland breading. Had to salt it to make it mildly palatable. Margarita wasn't bad though. Service - terrible. Asked for a glass of water early on in the meal and I didn't get it until I had to get up and go up to the bar and ask. If I'm going to be paying for service, I genuinely expect that a simple request be filled. It wasn't super busy. I didn't come on the weekend or during happy hour. It was alright...we ordered (uber delivery) the smothered fajitas and the chicken breast with mushrooms & cheese on top (forgot the menu name). Sides of mac & cheese and green beans. The green beans were tasty but everything else was just "meh". Everything seemed to be lacking in flavor...fajitas especially. The pico (which I had to pay extra for) smelled kinda weird & didn't look fresh at all. For sure wont seek out to order food again but it wasn't SO horrible that if there was a large get together of friends going there...I'd try a burger or something. Ordered the Classic Skillet. The potatoes were dry and unseasoned. The very few veggies they served with the skillet were hardly cooked. I asked for the veggies to be grilled until soft. WOW I just ordered To-Go here and as I was walking out a girl named Alyssa (a server) just body checked me. Didn't even apologize. I am appalled. Thankfully another server saw what went on and apologized on her behalf. Then I talked to the manager and all he said was "I'll talk to her". I am so upset I'm shaking. I'm just glad she didn't hit me harder since I'm pregnant and I could have easily lost my balance and fallen. So appalled that she didn't even apologize. I don't think I'll spend another dime here. The food is good but she ruined it for me. The stress of the experience gave me a bloody nose. Update: The GM Fred called (after my husband paid him a visit the next day) and never once apologized but instead got defensive about me describing the incident as assault. Another manager told Fred about the incident the night it happened and he didn't call me until my husband went to talk to him. Server failed to apologize, floor manager failed to apologize, GM failed to apologize. So I want to start off by saying that the food is amazing. And the beer selection almost can't be beat. Especially considering the other options in the area. But 2 stars is merited because the service is terrible. I've been here multiple times. And at first I just thought it was a training issue with the servers. But I sat at the bar tonight, and it's with everyone. So the first time I went, the server just didn't have any beer knowledge at all and made me point to the beers I wanted. But again the food was amazing. So I have gone back on several occasions. And it's always the same. The servers just don't have/ or possibly do not care about having beer knowledge. Tonight my roommate and I sat at the bar. And while the bartender didn't make us point to beers, she did ignore us in lew of the two men sitting directly next to us. We came in, had to ask for menus, and had to all but wave our arms erratically to get service. This place has so much potential. And this is sad, but regardless of the food being top notch and the beer selection being phenomenal, I will not be back. read more

I got takeout from the Backyard Grill last Friday. This is the WORST food I've ever had at a restaurant. I ordered Smokey the Beer chicken. It was totally dry with no flavor. I also ordered the Triple Lindy which is a brownie with a chocolate chip cookie on top with a scoop of ice cream. Most of the brownie was petrified, like it was freezer burned and then left in the microwave too long. The other part of the brownie was like rubber. Nothing I ordered was fresh. The only thing edible was the ice cream and that's because the restaurant didn't make it. I still can't believe that a restaurant would serve this garbage. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

They have a large inside area and patio area with sandbox as well. We were greeted and seated right away. It wasn't too crowded for lunch on a Tuesday. Our waiter came right away and took our drink orders. My sweet tea didn't come out sweet so he brought me another one which tasted much better. I'll start my review with the bad and end on a good note. First order my wife and I drinks, I get the ogre stout and her a strawberry margarita. Her margarita was strong and sweet no issue, my beer however had a small spider or Bug resting on the foam inside my glass, I Picked him out and asked for a new beer, a million factors could have landed a bug in my beer, was an easy fix though and my waiter quickly got me a new beer. Not gonna let a little bug ruin the night. I order the Maverick burger and the wife got the steak. My maverick burger did not come with fried jalapeños or onion rings for some reason. I felt like I was eating a McDonald's burger which is sad because all I heard was how great of a burger place this is. I'll give our waiter some slack it was busy on the patio and he brought out the food quick and asked us how everything was as I was stuffing my face with the First bite but afterwards we didn't see him again the rest of our visit, we had to get up and go to the front desk to pay our bill. Worst experience ever!! To begin with, we had to wait about twenty minutes and no one else was waiting. It was about 7:15pm, Saturday night. There was two large parties going on and our server said they were running a little behind because of the parties. We thought, we don't mind waiting a little since it was a nice evening and we were sitting outside on the patio. We waited over an hour and two tables that had arrived after us had been served before us. All we ordered was three burgers and they kept saying was that our order was next. Repeatedly. We talked to the manager and he said he was going to check in our order and he never came back. When we saw another table getting their food, we walked out. An hour and a half had already passed. The only reason for one star is because the server was really trying. It wasn't her fault, she was constantly apologetic. We will NEVER return here again!! read more
