We're quickly becoming fans of this place. The menu is very diverse and it's hard to make a choice. The burgers are really good and who can pass on a great burger? Obviously my son and husband tonight. Our server was very helpful and made great suggestions I ordered a snake bite burger with sweet potato fries, my son ordered the suggested buffalo platter and DH ordered a dinner platter. Everything was very good and we'll be back again to continue to support local businesses. They have a banner outside that says ' eat here or we both starve'". We frequent this place even though we do not live nearby because the food is good, there's enough TV's there to satisfy my fiancé's sporting needs, and you can join their club for free and drink 55 of their many different type of beers to get your name on their wall...similar to flying saucer and world of beer but on a much smaller scale. Their menu is extensive and there is still much more that we want to try but you can't go wrong with their salads, burgers, and country fried steak. This time we went I got a taco salad and my fiancé got the ribeye which were both good. Tip on the ribeye though is that it comes on a sizzling plate so if you like your steak rare or medium rare you need to account for thatThe restrooms are clean and we have never had a problem with the service, we just wish that they would stay open longer since they close at 9 on weekdays and 10 on weekends. We just ordered to go tonight and I wanted to say that the girl working there deserves a raise. From the moment she answered the phone until we arrived to pick up the food she was full of energy and so friendly. She wrote our orders on the boxes to save us time and confusion (3 of us ordered burgers) and she opened them to show us to make sure they were complete and that we were satisfied and got the right order. Fun, interesting restaurant with good food, lots of beer choices and very good service. We were in the Jersey Village area buying a car. As usual, that means skipping a meal so at 3 pm the family was STARVING. I used Yelp and found this place. Thanks to all you Yelpers for Yelping out. First impressions are great. Friendly door service led us to a booth next to a large, tacky, fake tree. If they added artificial lighting you wound think you are at the Rainforest cafe. I'm good with this. It's too hot outside to be eating next to a real tree and probably less fire ants. We tossed frugal to the wind. We're hungry and just spent a bunch of money on a car so we agree to order too much food and not complain about the price on the bill or feeling stuffed. I started with an American Porter, ribeye steak with a double side of mac n cheese. My wife went with ribs. Son ordered the gumbo with fajitas. Daughter ordered wedge salad with the Snakebite Burger. We've been a few times and the food is delicious and service is very friendly and attentive. A must try. They really care about your experience. The last time we went our server was caught up for quite a while before she could bring our drinks and you wouldn't believe how apologetic she was. Things to try: the devil's honey burger, kimchi tacos (even though the pulled pork was a bit dry they were still ridiculously good!), blackened salmon caesar, their chicken dishes, and mojitos. I had my baby shower there today. It was so nice to walk in and see Liz back. She is always hands down the best waitress we ever have here.

The service : excellent, our waiter was attentive, friendly and answered our questions about items on the menu The food : good , I'm a chicken fried chicken gal , I didn't get it this time but my husband did and they did it right . I ordered blackened catfish instead as I wanted to try something different , with fried okra and sauteed mushrooms. I do like that they have a variety of options for sides . However, the mushrooms were too soft for me , something that can happen when the salt is added to early and it causes the mushrooms to sweat , so that could be better. We ordered grilled tenders for our 3 year old and it was juicy ,not dry , she enjoyed it but I would have liked to know that the fruit side option was more like fruit cocktail in syrup instead of fresh fruit. Overall, we had a nice dinner. BTW menu is extensive in my opinion, we will be back to try other items in their menu. read more

1st ever experience here, used uber eats for it. I got the Family Reunion Reuben with okra, and my mom got the lurkey turkey burger with house made chips. I loved the flavor of my sandwich and would eat it again for sure. Layers of juicy tender meat, semi thin sliced, and sauerkraut was sauteed I think, the sauce and swiss cheese topped it off nicely. Toasted bread, cut diagonally, was moist on the bottom from drippings and still crisp on top. I wanted MORE okra but thats ok, I ate some of my mom's chips, real potatoes for sure just needs salt and to be more crisp. Miles could be an awesome wait as he asked all the right questions, made recommendations, and got our orders correct. He just needs an attitude check. There were 2 other staff members that saw him falling behind and were just trying to help him so he didn't get complaints about having to wait. He fussed at both of them for helping him where we could hear and even went to the point of telling his other table that he didn't like others taking his orders can they repeat what they told the other waiter. I entered the restaurant through the Take Out door. They don't have menus. Had to look up online to see what I wanted. The server recommended the Maverick Burger with a side of Onion Rings. Our first time here and we were not disappointed!! The air smells divine...if you were hungry when you walked in, the amazing smells coming from the kitchen will increase it 10fold! We had an appetizer of fresh grilled jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and pulled pork, devils honey double patty cheeseburger, devils honey grilled chicken, fries and baked potato. A friend of mine and I attended one of their special events this past week--the craft beer dinner. It was a really good time with some great food and beer pairings. Here's the kind of thing you can expect if you sign up for one of these: Note from the start: All the courses are appetizer size, and the beer is about 1/4 of a glass per sample. But I would say it is good value for the money. It was hosted by James Simpson from What's On Tap Radio, and he made it fun with a lot of energy and interesting trivia. We started off with a sample from a test batch of hazy IPA from a local brewer. Hazy IPA has some depth compared to the regular stuff, which I'm not that fond of. More later on hazy IPA. This was paired with a Yuengling ale that included corn in the brew The first course was a Fred Dog, a hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep fat fried, with coleslaw. This made for great flavor and texture. It came with pretzel fries--a large pretzel cut into french-fry like slices and baked hard, with a beer cheese dipping sauce. Crunchy and delicious. The second course was a pork belly slider speared with a melon ball toothpick. It was pretty much an extra-fatty BLT, which was quite fine by me--ate it all and loved it. They paired it with a Southern Pecan brown ale because they couldn't get hold of their preferred one, but it was all good. The third course was the hit of the evening--Korean BBQ ribs with house-made potato chips. The ribs were amazing--a very complex, somewhat sharp sauce on falling-off-the-bone tender pork ribs. They absolutely have to put these on the menu. Everyone agreed that this was the best item they served. They paired this with a smoked scotch ale, Smoke on the Bayou. Next up was a deep-fried cheeseburger. It was a tasty bite. Deep frying is interesting but I'm not sure that added much. Simpson spent some time talking about the pairing on this one. It was paired with Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA, because the hoppiness cuts through the grease. They did work together well. We finished with a kind of deconstructed fruit compote with cookie crumbs. Nice, not all that special. But it was paired with Abita Purple Haze IPA, another hazy IPA that really worked well. I might actually buy an IPA if it's a hazy one. Great event, something I would do again. read more

First time to Backyard for dinner tonight. Friendly enough staff and a decent overall vibe to the restaurant. They pride themselves on an extensive brew list and feature local microbrews. We ordered multiple appetizers, among them wings and crawfish. I was a bit disappointed with both, the crawfish were almost warm, had minimal flavor and looked like they were not purged? My preference for chicken wings is to have the skin with a little crunch to them, instead we had a typical soggy skin covered with hot sauce basket of wings. The one appetizer that I would come back to try again was the pulled pork, bacon wrapped, stuffed jalapeño. This was tasty, and yes occasionally pretty spicy, but worth the heat. Great flavor and crispy crunch, a definite side to try. Our waiter made a great recommendation for dinner, a stuffed bacon wrapped chicken breast. Overall this had good flavor and was served with mashed potatoes that were also enjoyable. I will try Backyard again and will definitely try more of the brews and stuffed jalapeños. read more

Ate here for the first time today. Food was great! We had steak, ribs, and crawfish which were all cooked perfect. Prices were reasonable for what we got. All and all A+ and we'll definitely be back for more! Austin was our server and he was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. He provided great service and I could tell he enjoyed working here. Bathrooms were nice and clean and the atmosphere was perfect for families. We give this place a 3 star because the meals were mediocre. The one good thing I can say was the chicken was very tasty and well prepared. I had the Smokey the Beer chicken with vegetables and mashed potatoes. My husband had ribs. One section was fresh the other was a day old and reheated to a crunchy finish. One piece literally crackled when he showed the waiter how over heated it was. I had an Arnold Palmer to drink and had to send it back because it was so bland. How do you mess up an Arnold Palmer??? The desserts were still a 3. He had the triple Lindy and said it was just ok. I tried their peach cobbler. I took 3 small bites and decided I needed to take it home and season it to help it out. I met a friend here for brunch on a Sunday. We had a parfait that pretty darn good. I came here many many years before becoming a Yelper so I cannot for sure say anything has changed. Our service was good. We were in the bar area not far from the front door. Not quite sure if that was a living tree inside, but we had to cover our mimosas with napkins for gnats. A piece of dust or insulation fell right into our table. At least it was not in our food. I loved the hot sauce on wheels in a box. They park it next to the table for multiple choices. Try them all on a small plate. They Cayenne was my fav. We order breakfast tacos - they are normal size. Not huge.
