The worst customer service ever! Go to Bagels by Jarret, the staff is much more pleasant and the food is delicious! The most bizarre and unprofessional events took place on a Saturday afternoon about 45 min before closing time. I ordered a cold sandwich and I see that the cashier rang me up for about $14.00. I asked her what exactly is she ringing me up for and she tells me that she's ringing me up for other things as well. The cashier tells Rosa (the person who took my order and was also making my sandwich) that I didn't ask for the other things and Rosa had all the attitude in the world and kept making nasty gestures and mouthing off saying (in Spanish) that I did tell her that I wanted those other items, etc. To their surprise, I'm a fluent Spanish speaker. When I told Rosa in Spanish "I didn't tell you I wanted those other things, I only told you that I wanted a sandwich.", she literally looked me in the face and rudely said "you did tell me you wanted the other things" My fiancé and I couldn't believe it. Even he was trying to tell her that he heard what I said and that I didn't ask for anything but a sandwich. Rosa continued having her attitude and turned her back on my husband. I told the cashier to cancel my order and I just left. Bagel box needs to get it together and hire people with better customer service skills. All that attitude was uncalled for. She did not even start preparing the other things that she claimed that I ordered. read more

I just got the most incredible Greek salad from my favorite bagel store! I realize my picture doesn't do it justice, but the chicken was warm (and there is so much of it) and there are even stuffed grape leaves tucked into each corner of the container. I am alternating eating my salad and typing my review...it is just that good. I'll be back again for lunch!! read more

Bagels good service is extremely bad, everyone there is hispanic, and so i am i walked in one day to order placed my order with a shirt black haired woman. After i placed the order she started talking about me in Spanish saying I look weird and suspicious giving me nasty looks. Not realizing im hispanic too, and that i heard everything she acted like she didnt say anything in shock when i asked her why she said that. Im not sure who runs this place or how but discriminating is something to expect if your a young guy walking into this establishment so be ready to get weird looks if you are by their staff. This place sucks. First time ordering and won't ever order again. After waiting over an hour an half to receive a COLD breakfast, I then called and asked to speak to management. Roberto, the manager/owner, (we don't know because he barely knows how to answer and speak to a human being intelligently on the telephone) then proceeded to tell me that his driver was "supposed to come to our establishment first but I guess she didn't" -- please keep in mind, we then waited an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes after that phone call took place. Called again. He then offers me a 50 percent credit, which was acceptable. Fast forward to today, no credit on my account and I was charged the full amount. Just this morning I ordered a bagel with butter and the dude asked to clarify "with cream cheese?" I specifically said "no, butter." Lo and behold my bagel had cream cheese. I've also been there other times and people often come in complaining their order is wrong. So unless you're ok with getting a surprise meal, maybe avoid. This was the first and last time I'll be getting a bagel from here. I usually don't like to write bad reviews, but when it takes 30 minutes for a bagel, I think it's warranted. I came in on a Sunday morning and everyone in line had already been helped. It took 10 minutes for anyone who worked there to acknowledge me and my husband. We ordered simple sandwiches (bacon, egg and cheese), but somehow that took 20 minutes for them to cook and assemble. I saw my order sitting on the counter for a good 5 minutes until someone working there decided to call it out and finally ring us up. My bagel sandwich tasted great. It was pretty packed in there so I think they're pretty consistent with serving fresh bagels and good sandwiches. They also had a variety of cream cheeses i never heard of so next time I will try one. The coffee was okay tasting but at least it was hot and paired well with my sandwich. The last time I went there there was a sizable line waiting to take orders. I had ordered a breakfast sandwich and small coffee. The counter people were too focused on taking new orders and not getting completed orders out the door. Gotta update my review since bagel box has been under new management. I gave it the old three strikes and now I'm officially done. First, I've been noticing a significant difference in the product here in general. Yes the bagels are okay still but the breakfast sandwiches used to be filled to the brim with extra eggs, cheese, huge pieces of sausage or a bunch of pieces of Taylor ham but now the sandwiches are a 1/4 filled. Dinky egg, a half a slice of cheese and a small breakfast sausage. The last one I got was just UGHHHH yuck. Even my fiancé who is easy to please actually said, "yea I think this the last time we go there." And I'm pretty sure their prices went up too and that is just ridiculous. More money for less, yea no thanks. And to make matters worse, the last time I went in they gave me the wrong order after I even questioned if I was getting the right one. It is unfortunate that this is the case because I want to come here, it is so close to me and the people who work there are super nice (hence the extra star) but I just can't justify it anymore. Only been here twice because it's not near me, but I have a few friends that live in the WO. Maybe it was because I was starving and probably hung-over, but I'm pretty sure it was one of if not the best bagels I've ever eaten. To me a fresh bagel doesn't need to be toasted. It is warm and doughy on the inside, has a crusty shell, and is delicious. These guys are pretty big. I remember what I had: an everything bagel, with smoked salmon spread, and a tomato. It was so good that I made my friend drive back so I could get a 1/2 dozen to bring back to the city with me. The next time I had a sausage, egg and cheese that was piping hot and the cheese oozed all over the eggy-weggy and crust and was just what the hangover doctor ordered. This place also serves "Sloppy Joe's", which in NJ doesn't equal what a sloppy joe is anywhere else in the world. It is basically a triple decker sandwich with coleslaw galore. Certainly not Adam Sandler's sloppy joe, but pretty awesome. Moral of the story: If you find yourself in West Orange, make a pit stop at The Bagel Box. read more

After living in Manhattan and eating H&H bagels, no bagel in Jersey had come close to them. But Bagel Box is the closest to that big perfect H&H - big and crispy outside, soft inside. Good flavor selection here, blueberry, choc. chip, Black Russian (Pumpernickel) some whole grains and even cheddar or jalapeno. They even have flavored cream cheeses and fish salads by the pound prepacked to go. They'll make you a sandwich of tuna, light tuna, coldcuts or chicken on a bagel of your choice. They have cold drinks or coffee as well. It's a small shop, so beware sometimes you may have a wait as other customers order a bunch of sandwiches or salads to take out. I used to love this place in high school but ever since they changed management the service is terrible. The staff barely speaks English and they always mess up orders. I've worked in the food industry so i know it's not easy to get everything correct, especially during high volume hours. This morning , i asked for a wrap that comes with bacon but i don't eat pork so i always replace it with turkey bacon. I watched her write "turkey bacon" on the paper and even after that when i started biting into the wrap i noticed that it was not turkey bacon. They've messed up my orders before and I've let it slide but this is my last time going there. I refuse to put money into a business that does not value their customers. read more

The Bagel Box is probably the best value for your money in the area for bagels. Their prices are about the same but they are the biggest bagels. They used to be pretty small but then about 5-6 years ago not sure why but they changed, not sure if its the same owners or not. Their new bagels are very good and a very nice size. The bagels here are really good. There needs to be a better system with online orders versus in-person orders. This morning I ordered in advance and 40 minutes later I arrived to be told that I had to get in line with everyone else to pick up. What's the point of online ordering, then? I used to go there all the time but the service has really gone down hill. There are a lot of bad reviews for this place here on yelp but most of them didn't make it into the "recommended reviews" section, but most of them are true. My biggest complaint is they can't get my order right, and I only order one thing: fried egg bacon and cheese on a roll, pepper ketchup. A couple months ago when they screwed up my order I told the guy who seemed to be the manager that they get my order wrong all the time. He said "ok". Last time I went in there, they screwed it up, making me late for work while I waited for them to fix it, then screwed it up again. I was between 2 and 3 stars. This place is pretty overrated in my opinion. I have a high standard for bagels and Bagel Box did not meet it. First of all, they didn't label their bagels and they were set back far from the counter so I couldn't tell which was which. The service was okay. We only waited about 5 minutes but the bagels were definitely a disappointment. I like my bagel to be big and fluffy. These were small and thin, and they did not seem very fresh. When we moved from the city many moons a go this place was legit. They have new owners and make new bagels. They have a nice selection but the bagels are flavorless now. Terrible parking lot on top of incompetent employees.. got an egg and cheese on a roll the other day and I couldnt find the cheese. When showed to the kid behind the counter he said "thats how we make it". Explained that I didn't want it and he said they would add a piece of cheese.
