They have the best cupcakes! I love how it is homemade. We ordered the Strawberry Wedding Cake, Vanilla, Red Velvet, and Caramel Macchiato. The buttercream wasn't that sweet which is awesome because I usually take off a lot of cream off cupcakes! The cupcakes weren't that sweet as well and it was very moist. The cheesecake in the cupcakes were so bomb, I am not a big fan of cheesecake! But this place is a must! My mother in law does not like sweets, but she loves their cheesecake. All the guests at my engagement complimented the cupcakes and asked where I got them from! read more

We reached out while looking for a wedding cake vendor and really appreciated how friendly and responsive he was from the start. He clearly has a lot of confidence in his work and spoke very highly of his cakes. That said, compared to a few other quotes we received for a similar design, his pricing came in a bit higher, and the overall style of communication felt a little too strong for us personally. WOW! Seriously I'm the fool for not finding Larry & The Baking Fool sooner. I tended to always order from another bakery anytime I have the urge for one because I'm always disappointed whenever I get it from anyone else. However, these cupcakes from The Baking Fool are truly divine *chef's kiss * I ordered the mini vanilla and requested just light frosting since it's for my kids' birthday at the preschool and Larry absolutely delivered. I also got the regular cupcakes and omg the frosting was so yummy! Not too sweet and just perfect. Also I got the 6" strawberry wedding cake for smash cake with cute ribbon frosting decor and it was just so adorable and not to mention yummy. Yes, i ate it after it was smashed but it was just too good and nothing went to waste around here! Communication was fast easy with text or call. The cakes was ready at the time specified. He asks for at least 50% deposit (you can pay in full too) to secure your order which I paid thru Zelle. My only regret was not ordering more lol read more

Where do I even begin...OMG these are some good ass cupcakes! GOOD ASS CUPCAKES, you hear me?!! My friend Christina first bought them for another coworker's birthday. I had tried a strawberry cupcake and was instantly in love! It was so moist and the icing was perfect! Fast forward to me getting a big promotion and moving to a new location, Christina knew I loved these cupcakes and gifted me with a dozen. I literally didn't even want to share them, lol. I could have sat and ate all 12 of them! I'm gonna need Larry to make me a cake, sheesh! Cake period is my weakness. But I'm going to want something that will last a little longer, so cake it is! Talk about delicious! I really like that neither the cake, nor the icing is overly sweet. I don't eat a lot of sweets, but when I crave them, I really crave them. I want to try the lemon, because lemon desserts are my absolute favorite, followed by the vanilla, carrot cake, and strawberry lemonade cupcakes. Oh 'em gee... This may be the best cupcakes I've ever had. We came across Baking Fool on Yelp and decided to do a dozen cupcakes for my friend's birthday instead of a cake. We got a variety of flavors and ALL OF THEM were delicious beyond imaginable lol. Even on the 2nd and 3rd day, they are STILL just as moist #mindblown! Also, Larry and his wife were so sweet to refrigerate our cupcakes while we shopped at Costco! We will most certainly be back. My order of favorites, but I'd order all of them again. 1. I was looking for some delicious cupcakes and came across this business on Yelp. I'm so happy I did! I decided to buy half a dozen cupcakes before committing. We tried the carrot cake, triple chocolate, caramel apple, maple, strawberry wedding cake, and churro flavors. They are all so delicious! The cake was moist and flavorful. The frosting had just the right amount of sweetness and texture. Once I decided to get our cake from here, I was a little too late to make a cake order (he requires at least one week's notice). We ordered 3 dozen vanilla cupcakes and a small chocolate cake with vanilla frosting for our twin boys' first birthday. We also requested the cupcakes and the cake have gold flecks, with the cake having a specific gold design representing the sun (the theme for the birthday was "First Trip Around the Sun"). The cake and cupcakes were excellent quality, with by far the best frosting I have ever had. Larry and his team also provided outstanding service and were patient with us and worked well with us on the design we requested. Everyone who tried the cupcakes loved them (I ended up eating a dozen myself and am not ashamed to admit it). I ordered 1 dzn red velvet and strawberry cupcakes each and they were a hit at my son's birthday party. The kids were begging for more when the cupcakes finished, lol! The cake was soft, moist and had good flavor. The frosting was smooth, creamy and not overwhelming or too sweet. I added colorful sprinkles on top of the cupcakes but I'm sure Larry could've done it if I asked. Larry communicated promptly and the cupcakes were ready on time. Wooooow! Writing this review within hours of first finding The Baking Fool-now our favorite cupcakes in the OC and LA area. Was in the area and craving a sweet late night dessert, found this secret gem through Yelp. Larry, the owner of the business helped us out and explained each and every available flavor he had. Super passionate and a great guy all around-you could tell through the cupcakes that he knows what he's doing and seriously loves doing it. CUPCAKES: Moist, fluffy, insane flavor profiles with the perfect icing (I usually wipe it off, I'm all about the cake and hate too sweet of an icing....I downed all of the icing)-seriously delectable. Such a fair price for a bespoke bakery. I would pay double, especially for those late night cravings. No crumb was left behind. Here's a picture of 3 of the 4 we bought. Carrot cake-BOMB. What a lovely discovery! I bought mini cupcakes for a retirement party held in boat and oh boy it did not disappoint. So soft, sweetness just right, and yummy. Priced reasonably too. I ordered red velvet (my fave), triple chocolate, vanilla, and tropical. They do not make pistachios cake so I have to order it somewhere else. Since they don't have a physical store where you can taste test their products relying on the rave reviews of their previous customers is what I did when I choose them. My wife and I ate a Cheesecake Factory tonight and when it came time to pick a dessert, she said she'd rather have more cupcakes from The Baking Fool. That's how much we love these cupcakes. Red velvet cheesecake cupcake is so far the favorite in our house, but every flavor so far has been fantastic! **THEY HAVE CUPCAKES OF THE WEEK.** I almost missed out on this spot because I thought you had to preorder. But, if you're lucky, they have a few flavors ready made each week until they sell out. There is also the option to order flavors ahead of time if you are better planners than our family. How did I just find this now?? These are probably the best cupcakes I've ever had! I love how the frosting is perfect and not overly sweet. I'm usually not a huge fan of cakes or cupcakes because all the ones I've had are ridiculously sweet. Everyone at the party absolutely loved them as well. Wow. I eat a lot of cupcakes and sweets, and these are the best. They are so soft, moist, and not too sweet. The flavors are so good! The red velvet cheesecake has actual cheesecake and crust on the bottom! I am counting down until the next birthday or holiday, so that I can order some cupcakes. If I can plan ahead, I would easily order a dozen! Otherwise, I follow the Baking Fool on IG, and called when I saw the weekly cupcake flavors posted. I found out about The Baking Fool from a friend and having been only getting his cupcakes for special occasions since! The carrot cheesecake cupcake is all I've tried thus far, it's just way too good! The frosting is cream cheese with cinnamon and the bottom has gram cracker crust. Larry is also super friendly! Do not be fooled!! Just because they're a home-based business does not mean they are any less legitimate or less delicious than a brick-and-mortar! These cupcakes were a hit at my birthday party. The strawberry cheesecake and coffee cupcakes were super delicious! Everyone kept asking me where I got them. No doubt if I need to order cupcakes for any occasion, I'm calling Larry! He was already busy with another order and was kind enough to squeeze me into his tight schedule and quality was not compromised at all. Cupcakes are best refrigerated before serving. Oh my gosh, the cupcakes were a dream! I just had my son's 7th birthday party at Splash on August 20th and we booked two dozen mini cupcakes with Larry for Corey's actual bday. It was my first time booking with Baking fool and I was a fool not being able to find him sooner. I first called him two to 3 weeks in advance when I found him on yelp to see about booking for cupcakes. He was very responsive and reliable at first phone. I didn't think he would answer me so late in the day but he picked up and worked on registering it. Since I was planning a group bday splash party, I had to get the consent from the other two bday moms. Just to say, it was a lot of back and forth and patience with Larry and his wife. He was informative, patient, reliable and accommodating. Everytime I called he quick and responsive. The other moms were working and not as quick to respond so it was a lot of back and forth. The day of the party it was absolutely delicious! Perfect amount of sweetness, beautifully decorated (simple) and all around best cupcakes. My favorite was the lemon, churro was a smashing hit (so good I didn't even get to try any), mint was my husband's favorite and of course red velvet had the perfect balance and taste profile. I will be booking them in the future. Only probably was I didn't even get to take a chance to take a picture because everyone ate it so quickly. Thank you Larry! I like ordering online so it's easy and fast to pick up the orders and when you order online that adds to your points as well. The only place that does a better Red Velvet (imho) is Nothing Bundt Cakes since they put chocolate chips in their Red Velvet cake. I showed the cashier the description and referenced the in person display and the cashier still seemed confused and said "yeah... thats the chocolate whiskey. What would you like me to do?" And I had to spell it out for her and say "take these caramel ones out and replace them with the ones I ordered" and had to point and all and the cashier just said "oh okay." It was super weird and frustrating. Anyways, taste wise- the alcohol infused cupcakes don't really have a flavor of alcohol and the batter kind of tastes like the box mix. We ordered a large order of coffee, Oreo, triple chocolate, and strawberry wedding cheesecake cupcakes for our wedding. The cupcakes were such a hit with all our guests! So soft and yummy, and just the perfect amount of richness and sweetness. Many people commented on how they loved that the Oreo cupcakes had a whole Oreo on the bottom. Our families were sad when we finally ran out of the leftover cupcakes haha. We used their delivery service for $50 and it was well worth it! Larry was so professional throughout the whole process leading up to the wedding and answered all our questions about payment and options so patiently. The day of our wedding went so smoothly. Larry came on time and worked so well with our coordinators as to not disrupt any wedding activities going on, and he made sure to check with us that everything was exactly as we wanted before he left! He set up the cupcakes so beautifully using our cupcake stands (after we set up the stands). Everything looked gorgeous and pristine. Ordered 6 dozen mini cupcakes for a Baby Shower yesterday and they were a huge hit! 2 dozen each of Triple Chocolate, Strawberry and Red Velvet. All of the guests took one of each and had nothing but good things to say. People kept coming back for more and wanted to know where I got them from. The mini cupcakes were so moist and tasty. Perfect ratio of cake to frosting and the frosting was not overly sweet. Next time, I will be sure to ask Larry for some business cards so I can share them at the event. These are the best cupcakes you'll ever eat in your lifetime. They use only 1/4 of the sugar of a normal cupcake. The flavors are amazing. I dare you to try them and tell me of a better cupcake.
