Clean beds, fluffy pillows. Street noise if your room is above the office. Limited parking and spontaneous availability, no doubt due to the fantastic location in the downtown area. I called to make my reservation and was given a discount as a first-time customer. Great touch! The room was fine, nothing too special. There was a weird, sticky patch on the carpet between our two beds. I don't even wanna know... and the cable was inexplicably unplugged when we arrived. Maybe they're being conscious about vampire power drainage - no big deal, husband moved furniture to remedy the issue, but a heads up would have been helpful. Hot tub was fully functional, and staff even gave permission for a quiet, after hours soak. Nice. Breakfast in the dining room was adequate, they even included gluten-free muffins. But they could do better with vegan options. Guacamole and fruits just aren't enough. Where were the hashbrowns? The passion fruit juice was delicious. The view out our room window was by far the best part. Those rolling hills on a clear spring day... no doubt, if the Bard had visited Ashland he would have stood at these windows, agog. My wife booked these rooms online, this is how we usually book rooms. Our whole experience almost turned bad when our babysitter situation fell through. We tried to cancel our reservations but they were firm on there policy! Turns out, new arrangements for the ankle biters became available and we were able to keep our reservations. Talk about good service! The rooms were neat and clean and the staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was as good if not better than those of the neighboring establishments. I booked a room on booking.com and called to verify reservation I spoke with A gentleman, he told me never go through 3rd party for booking and that I was still in my cancellation period to cancel and he would book a room for me. Long story short I paid for two rooms and stayed in one! They will not refund you and will tell you to go through the 3rd party but payment is processed through BARDS IDo not go through and third party if you want to stay here!! You will have at least 3 people reprimand you for booking on a third party. Zero customer service. Hotel great people working front counter not so great! Plenty of other places in Ashland to stay I recommend you look elsewhere. Now it four people from Bard's inn that has reprimanded me for using a third party to book with them!! All four of the front desk workers were great! The room was the largest one on the property and was perfect for spaciousness and spreading out. The in room jacuzzi was broken but the tub is enormous. Complimentary breakfast was plenteous. Hotel is quiet, not ultra thin walls therefore you can expect to sleep & rest if needed. Great location in walking distance to everything. read more

Excellent hotel! A friend and I stayed here recently for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. I would totally stay there again in a heartbeat! Pros: The location was just on the edge of downtown, correctly advertised as a 6-minute walk from the Festival theater. Beautiful rooms, very clean. We arrived before check-in time, but we were given a parking pass so we could stow the vehicle in one of their private lots. All we had to do was come back after check-in time started and get our keys. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! I was really impressed! We didn't have any issues. No noise. Big bathroom, good water pressure. My bed was comfy. We could come and go from the hotel with ease. I felt safe. It was well-lit. Cons: Room had zero view. We were looking at the building next to us, like uncomfortably close next to us. Downtown Ashland is gorgeous, but you'd never know it from our room. The Verona parking garage is VERY low - don't take a big truck, as it won't fit. I was worried my Forester was gonna get a buzz cut on the way in (it didn't, obviously). Continental breakfast was just okay - nothing spectacular. I would skip it and just get a bomb af breakfast from one of the 70 restaurants in the surrounding 3 blocks. read more

This hotel has deteriorated. When it was a Best Western it was kept up as it belonged to the Best Western grpup. I took the time to write a lengthy letter to the owner of the repair issues--he never replied. I think that illustratess their business strategy--run it into the ground. The first room I was put in the lock to the sliding glass door was broke leaving me exposed to passerbys on the street.I was moved to another room that had not been used for some days I assume because it was ice cold. The room didnt heat up until midnight. The TV was stuck on one channel and was Spanish speaking only. The office was unable to resolve the problem. Finally the handle on the faucet was broke. Needless to say this was a nice hotel when it was a Best Western but now is completly run down. There are a lot nicer hotels in Ashland to waste your money on this place. read more

This place was super disappointing. We were also in the dreadful Room 501 which is across the street from the main hotel. There is no lighting in the parking lot which feels dangerous and it also appears to be a construction site and/or dump . I was drawn to the Bard's due to the pool and hot tub. PS- The pool is unheated. The front desk clerk blithely told us people had been swimming all day which was hard to fathom since it was 39 degrees. The only thing I saw swimming in the pool or hot tub were masses of leaves. Again, the location of our room across the street made accessing the pool/hot tub area pretty undesirable. All in all, pretty much a bummer of an experience. read more

We stopped through Ashland and stayed at the London portion of the Bard's Inn. We had a great stay - the room wasn't fancy but it was clean and quiet with good AC and good water pressure in the shower. Front desk was polite and helpful. Location is ideal, close to parks, shops, restaurants. Would stay here again. read more

Awesome hotel right in down town Ashland. Checked in was a breeze, was even upgraded to a better room for free! Clean and had everything I needed! Stayed for two nights, first morning I left before the continental breakfast but they had a to-go breakfast ready for me. Wish it was just easier to eat in the car. better option for to-go breakfast baggies - a breakfast sandwich. they had all the ingredients to make it at the continental breakfast the next morning when I was able to make it. The young male manager at the property was so very rude. At 10AM we arrived in Ashland and we stopped by the front desk and "checked in with Micheal". We said "we know it's early" and asked if by chance the room was ready - I didn't share this with the hotel staff but I am unwell, had a splitting headache and really needed to lie down. He cheerfully said it was being cleaned and that it would be ready in just a little bit. We pulled our car at 10:20 to near the room and saw it was being cleaned. The Housekeeping staff was there doing their job. We found a little spot to sit in the shade nearby and thought it wouldn't be too long. After 5 hours of sitting around at the property and noticing LOTS of other people and families getting checked in, we returned to the front desk and said we still not has not received the promised "courtesy call" and asked if the room was ready. The young lady at the front desk made a pretense of "calling housekeeping" to check but it was obvious the room was ready and had been for some some. I could hear the housekeeping staff say yes, it's been ready and reported earlier as cleaned. Then, she told me they had "just finished it" which was different than what I heard the housekeepers say on the other end of the line and what I witnessed at 10:15 in the morning (which was the housekeeping staff in the room cleaning it). And, the keys had been prepped and were waiting in their box. When I said I thought it was rude that the manager did not call us as promised even just a courtesy call to let us know it would be several hours, he balked and said "your guaranteed a 3pm check in and nothing more" and was unapologetic and defensive. I get that I'm not "guaranteed" anything but I would appreciate some level of kindness and courtesy. I felt ignored for 5 hours and then attacked when I mentioned as much. And the exchange left me with a bitter taste in my mouth for a hotel I have eagerly recommended to so many friends and family. This is the last time I will stay at the this hotel And I will read the Lee sway any of my friends and family from choosing this hotel in the future. If you're looking for polite and courteous staff (or an early check-in) go elsewhere. As for that rude maneger, Micheal, I sure would appreciate an apology. Perhaps the hotel owners would consider some course training in customer relations for him. And, I'd like to end by recommending the Plaza Inn across the street. The service and amenities are better for the same price. They let us kindly wait for our room at The Bards Inn in their elegant sitting areas. read more

Room we reserved was not available. We were sent across the street to our room only to find that it was being renovated as were all the rooms in the building. After driving back to mail building we were sent across another street to another room which was not the room type (king) that we reserved. We gave up and just stayed in the room. To Whom It May Concern: I have stayed at Bards Inn since they were part of Best Western and I have never had a bad experience. This stay was under difficult circumstances, my 82 year old father lost his home and everything he owned to the Almeda Fires. Your hotel really stepped up and gave us a reasonable rate with no pet fee. We really appreciated a great complimentary breakfast during Covid time, so many other hotels are not doing this During our stay, we met Irene, she was a God sent. Everyday she went out of her way to make sure we were ok and if we needed anything. She informed us all the different locations where there were donation centers. My father was able to find clothes and items for his cat. Irene is a true asset to the hotel and we were so happy to have her there during such a difficult time. The experience I had at the Bards Inn was spectacular. Everyone in the staff here was so kind and accommodating to everything we could have asked for. The rooms were comfortable and the ac felt so amazing in the hot summers of Oregon. Maria at the front desk especially made sure our stay was at pleasant as possible. Checked into our pet friendly room and the air conditioning did not work. I called the front desk and the person working did come down and you could tell this was not her first trip to this unit. She fiddled with the controls and nothing worked. She said she called the owner of the hotel and he thought we should shut the air conditioning down for at least an hour and that did not work. Long stuffy night with little sleep and no apologies at the front desk when checking out. Will never stay at this grossly over priced hotel again. read more

It's a good value, short walk to the OSF and our room was clean and quiet (be sure not to book a room on Main street if you are noise-averse). Overall, the property is in need of updating. Old, thunderous air conditioning units that don't work very well and sound like airplanes taking off and a bathroom shower that barely spits water were lowlights. The beds were good, though. My general feeling is we probably will find a nicer property next time we're in Ashland. read more

Take a $100 motel room, throw 10 pillows on the bed, charge $200+. Thou hast slumbered at thine Bard's Inn. The rooms are tiny; like NYC tiny. The coffee maker is under she sink because there is not enough counter space. There was no toiletries in the room. When I called to tell the front desk, they said come and get some, and they still didn't have soap. Water pressure was a dribble. The upside- great location. Why stay here in Ashland when there are other options? It is indeed close to the center of town and any of the Festival celebrations and presentations. Beyond, that, meh.....seen better, enjoyed better. Inexpensive, comparatively. Simple, typical Best Western furnishings (not at all updated) but clean. I've been staying at this place off and on when visiting Ashland ever since we started making school trips in the early 90s, and it's still a nice hotel. Some rooms are better than others (some of the rooms in their buildings across the street are nicer than the main building where the office is) but overall, I would definitely recommend the Bard's Inn if you don't want to go for a B&B. Wow, I can say that I am throughly impressed by this place! It sits on 3 corners, has pool, hot tub, free breakfast and much more. Upon arrival I took and went on the hunt for a hair dryer.. not only did I find this under the bathroom sink, but I also found a Keurig! (yay!) Typically I stay at a B&B when in Ashland, but this trip called for something different. The Bard's Inn turned out to be a pretty nice option. It's close to the theaters and all the shops and restaurants in the area, and there's a convenient parking lot. The room was small, but the beds were nice and really comfy. We all slept really well. I wasn't expecting anything from the free continental breakfast, but it ended up surprising me. There was a pancake machine, sausages, quiches, and breakfast burrito with fresh, tasty guacamole. Plenty of space to eat and enjoy the view of the hills in distance. read more

Nice Hotel.. We did not have a reservation but were able to get a room no problem! The man at the front desk was nice but he did not quite hear when we specifically asked to be on an upper floor , with no one above us. When we got to our room it was on the first floor and by this time we were exhausted and were like "fine" we had already unpacked when we heard people stomping above us! SO we called the man "Chad" at the front desk him if he could call the people above us and tell them to please keep it down. He said he would and offered us another but we declined because we were so tired and had already unpacked by this time. Well we went to dinner and talked it over and decided to go ahead and switch rooms. We went to the front desk and talked to Chad again and said we would like to switch to the top floor. He accommodated us. ONce we got to the room, keep in mind too that our room is across the street from the reservation desk. So Chad must be hard of hearing or just tired because he still did not put us in the right room! We were now on the second floor! So we had to call him again and this time he seemed slightly irritated, I don't blame him but it was his fault and the room was not CHEAP! So he then asked if the room was still intact? Because then he proceeded to tell me he would have to clean it! Too Much Info! So finally we got our proper room and they are nice rooms... It is a nice hotel. I reserved a room and the changed my mind about having a king size bed and the staff bent over backwards trying to accommodate me when it was my mistake. Do not stay in room 505. This is my third day in this room and it sounds like a heard of elephants are constantly walking above me. It's on the first floor and the patio slider faces Main St. Main St is a busy street. So you here traffic all day and night. The room is also by an elevator. Late at night you hear the conversations of those waiting for the elevator. Not a good experience at all. read more

The room and service was adequate. I found a large amount of ants in the bathroom as well as several long black human hairs on the floor of the bathroom. The soap holder in the shower had old soap running down into the tub that had not been sanitized. It was a simple housekeeping and room check fluke but it was dusty everywhere. I myself work at a hotel and have had several different positions so I give them a little mercy when having that many rooms on a friday night but it was unprofessional and during COVID-19 should have been found and remedies before anyone stayed in that room. We stayed overnight at Bard's Inn on the spur of the moment on the way to Washington state from California. We were greeted by Kristy, who provided a perfect combination of warm welcome and professional competence. She got us an awesome room, executive king suite with jacuzzi. When we walked in, we wished we were staying a week! Everything was great, except for the bed. It was hard as a rock to sleep on. I know it saves hotels money to buy hard beds, they last longer, but are grumpy, sleep-deprived guests really worth the price?? One star on that, though the room and experience with Kristy was a five! The next morning's breakfast included in the price was adequate. Oatmeal was hot, eggs were warm (nice addition of green onions), bacon excellent, I liked the hard-boiled eggs already peeled, the automated pancake maker instead of the typical waffle maker made my husband very happy. There were quesadillas and guacamole, maybe thinking about Hispanic travelers? If so, that is a pretty meager offering. There are some great Latino foods you could add. Fruit wasn't great, the juices were overly sweet. read more

It was really cool that they gave us waters and granola bars at check in. The room itself was huge! Very clean and quiet. The bed was super comfortable too.
