I stayed here for one night and that was enough for me. They have recently painted the lobby and the staff is friendly enough. The rooms are clean, there is free wireless internet and the tv is new with a lot of channels, but I just didn't like it. For starters, it was hard to cool the room down, even with air conditioning. The continental breakfast is okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. There are definitely other and more better choices to stay at in Ashland. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights while in Ashland. The room was comfortable and clean, but nothing out of the ordinary. It is an easy walk to the center of Ashland. Many restaurants and shops are close by. It is also an easy walk to the theaters. We were particularly impressed by the breakfast offered by the hotel. Downside: parking is first come, first serve. If you leave the hotel parking lot with your vehicle and return after 4 p.m., you might be forced to hunt for street parking. read more

Location was tops in downtown Ashland! We were within walking or biking distance to everything, which made our visit even more relaxing. We also discovered the Greenway bike path down the road, a beautiful and fun ride a few mornings in a row! Our room #791 was on the third floor in the building across the street, a quiet, deluxe king-sized room with a whirlpool tub, which you bet I checked out after those rides! Never heard our neighbors and the hotel was full. The room was clean, comfortable, and we appreciated the mini fridge, as Ashland Co-Op is just a 5-minute walk for fresh produce and snacks. There were only two things they could improve upon (otherwise would be 5 stars): breakfast is your typical high, white-carb continental. If you're low carb or gluten free, it's meh. Better to grab morning fuel at Morning Glory, Greenleaf or Breadboard. Also it would be awesome if they added secure bike parking. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Bard 's Inn and would stay there again on our next trip up! read more

The Bard's Inn Motel was a very pleasant surprise! We booked our accommodations here because a lot of the other places I was interested in were already filled because of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. We were here in late July. This is definitely the BEST Best Western I have ever stayed in. I was "wowed" just from walking into the lobby to check in. I like how they made the place comfortable and matched the general ambiance of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. From the rooms being named after famous Shakespeare characters, to the theme inspired decor at the lobby, this place had some nice touches to fit in with the whole ambiance of OSF. Our rooms were across the street. We were fortunate to have a ground floor patio that our 3 year old son and dog could take advantage of. We were just a block away from the downtown shops and two blocks away from the theaters. The location and price can't be beat! The rooms were similar to ones you would find in 4 star accommodations. The beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. The staff, especially the front desk person Brianna (spelling), were very helpful in making our stay enjoyable and a great resource for information. I am glad I found this place and plan on returning again next year. read more

our last experience was terrible. for starters, the heater didn't work and the room was cold. they do no keep a handyman on site on the weekends, so a gal working the front desk did her very best with total empathy to get it working, but to no avail. she suggested i wait 10 mins and try again based on advice she got from her mom. it didn't work, which wasn't her fault. so i called the front desk and and asked for another room. the young guy at the front desk told me that the hotel was full so he couldn't. i explained that even though it's full, he should give us an empty room because we're already there and it was only late afternoon. he told me that everyone had already checked in, which everyone reading this knows isn't true. so i walked down to the front desk and asked for a manual to the heater (they had recently been installed), but they didn't have one told. i again asked for another room and because i was in front of another clerk, i was offered one, which turned out to be a handicap room (i applaud Bard's for having one) that was not set up for non-handicap people. it was extremely obvious by the condition and musty smell that it hadn't been used in a long time. there were no blankets on the bed - only a bed spread. the toilet seat was almost falling off and the cord to the phone was laying on the floor. I picked it up to hook it back up, but realized that it was broked. The room is across from the housekeeping room and all of the carts are parked on both sides of this out of the way room. as you can guess, it was loud in the morning and you literally have to navigate around all of the carts. I got nothing but attitude from the young guy at the desk, i was given nothing for the inconvience, and got a broken down room that was in terrible shape. My advice it is too stay elsewhere. read more

Ok the inn was nice people great. Unfortunately for us I did not call back quick enough to let them know my 6 lb dog got fleas....fleas! He is 4-1/2 very very clean. The photos of the room we stayed in have to be at least ten years old. Everything was very old, musty, and used up. The wallpaper was scratched up in every area, upholstery coming off the bottom of the chair, the room was super dark, the bathroom had ants, and the walls were paper thin. We stayed with our children and heard drunk people coming home above and next to us. I gave this a two because the location to shops and restaurants was amazing, but also was noisy with the passing traffic and such thin walls. My kids liked the deck, but we barely used it because it was so noisy. read more

The personal touch is what made our stay 5 Stars. While on a road trip we stayed here at Bards Inn at Ashland, OR and we inadvertently left a hand sticked blanket and pillow for my two year old daughter in the room. We didn't even know we had left it until we received a call about two hours and 100 miles away, and the manager offered to mail us the blanket and pillow. He could have easily just put it in the "Lost and Found" box for donation, but he didn't. Instead, it just arrived today, and the excellent customer service is truly appreciated! read more

This BW is in an easy location for walking to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, restaurants and shops. It was nice to arrive, park in the lot and not need our car until we were ready to leave. The front desk staff was super nice. The room was an average BW, but nice and quiet even though we were directly on a busy street. They do have a provided breakfast. It was crowded. My friend called the eggs 'strange.' That was a polite description. Morning one I had an english muffin and small yogurt and it was adequate. The coffee didn't make our standards so we found a nice outdoor espresso bar a block away. On morning two I picked up a half banana on the way back from the espresso bar and went back to my room for leftover pizza from the night before. Free wifi worked fine. Reasonably priced. read more

Very disappointed. While room was clean overall the carpet was so stained and dirty that I wore shoes the whole time. But worst was when I checked in I was told that I might not have a parking space and if couldn't find one I would have to park out on street somewhere. I found a spot in the lot but was afraid to leave to eat dinner because there probably wouldn't be a spot when I came back. I am a 69 yr old woman and was alone. Was afraid to have to try to find a place on street and walk back in the dark. Checked out in the morning (had planned on staying 4 nights) and was charged an additional night!!! We have always stayed at B&Bs when we have gone to Ashland in the past, but this was a list-minute trip and our plane was leaving before breakfast. I wouldn't give Bards a 1 if 0 was available. Horrible customer service from Kristi she could care less with several of our concerna. We rented multiple rooms in one room the TV didn't work, room reeked of recently smoked weed, bathtub wouldn't hold water . Two of the occupants of this room were under 3 years old. She could care less. There was no manager on site to assist resolving the issues. Kristi refused to contact anybody that could assist claiming there was no emergency and didn't want to bother them. She assured us we would be contacted today, nothing. Would not recommend Bards to anybody. Worst service ever! Kristi should consider leaving the hospitality industry and move on to a occupation that doesn't require direct contact with customer. read more

So we figure, OK, at least it'll be a nice big room. Again at the front desk we were told we were in a suite. It wasn't a suite, it was a plain King size bed room. Additionally, for what we were paying at least they would have had real drinking glasses. Nope, styrofoam coffee cups and powdered creamer. False advertising. First visit to Ashland, even though I've lived in Portland for thirty years. So glad we decided to finally stay there a night on one of our many road trips elsewhere. Alyce at the desk is a marvel. Truly in love with her city, and a terrific resource of where to go and what to see. Went far beyond her duties, and made our one day there memorable. This property is three different buildings. The main building is old and all the guest doors open to the parking lot... The other two buildings are across the street from the main building have nicer rooms but are not convenient for guests to deal with desk staff. The main building is old and the rooms are cramped. The water pressure is lacking so don't expect a enjoyable shower in the morning... The breakfast area is in a separate building behind the pool and not convent. If your looking for a good selection of breakfast items then this is not a good choice.. Limited to just three hot items... Terrible mini sausages, over seasoned scrambled eggs wrapped in a flour tortillas and a mini quiche..,they have mini boxed cereals, coffee and orange juice from a concentrate mix.., when I was there the breakfast area opened at 7am. When I arrived at 7:15, there were only 4 other people there and the hot items were gone. The kitchen was open but no one was around.., I search the whole kitchen area and even shouted out for someone, but no response. I went back outside to the main desk. But the office was closed... While I was waiting the desk clerk drove up and sondered up to the office.. When I asked her about the kitchen staff, the desk clerk was clueless.. Went back to the breakfast area, now 7:30... Only to find someone just now in in the kitchen... When I told her about the lack of hot items, she seemed disingenuous and not really interested... Upon checking out.. I found the day staff to be friendly, but really didn't care about the guests or their experience... I realize that most of their staff are most likely students of the local college.. But really? Guest concerns and satisfaction should be the number one priority... All they seemed to care about was turning the room.., Would I stay there again...? Not likely..!! read more

What a disappointment! After losing our home in the Southern California fires we were looking forward to a much needed rest. Instead, there was ongoing thumping in the room(s) above ours making sleep difficult if not impossible (with earplugs!). The staff acknowledged that there were occupants above and left them a note, but the noise continued. The walls/ floors are quite thin in this property. Management regretted having no alternative accommodations. We finally decided to leave a day early, alerting the front desk and suggesting it would be appreciated if they would make a small adjustment to our bill. The desk agent said staff had discussed our complaints and that in fact no one had been in the rooms above ours. (!) I phoned upon our return and although the manager was interested in the fact that an agent had suggested we'd lied about the occupancy of rooms above ours, made no gesture to make things right. I asked for number/ email of corporate office and he said he would send, and never did. And THEN I found that they had charged us for a third night! While we understand that they had no additional rooms, they could easily have helped us feel better about our stay, and certainly shouldn't have illegally charged us for a third night's stay when we checked out that morning! read more

Definitely one of the best of the Best wesern's I've stayed in. My guy and I stayed in a King Bedroom in the main building. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Super comfy bedding/bed and the bathroom/shower was nice too. Not the most spacious room, but it had everything we needed and was pretty too. Plus all of the Shakespearean touches throughout the hotel were charming. The location is prime...a hop, skip and a jump away from downtown! Couldn't ask fro a better spot. The continetal breakfast was great too. They had breakfast burritos, sausages, a variety of pastries and muffins, juices, cereal, bagels, fruit and so on... It's all served in the breakfast toom, which is nice and located next to the pool and spa. I will definitely come back to this hotel when I am here for a play. read more

This place seems convenient due to location and price but believe me, it is not worth the headache that the staff of this place brings. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the staff make it extra special. Jonathan at the desk has the manners of a prince, truly the best host and always so helpful. How did I get out of the door without my shoes and not realize it until 100 miles later? Well that's another story. Second best feature of the room we had was the giant pillows. Note, this review is a warning for those who book reservations and forget about them and their policy surrounding that rather than a review of the hotel per se. Last night, at 11:45PM, I received a call asking whether I still intended to check in to the Bard Inn. I was disoriented after being asleep for an hour and at first thought this was a fraudulent call trying to get my credit card. After snapping at the poor employee in my groggy, just been awakened grumpiness, I hung up and tried to fall asleep. Then several minutes later, my eyes popped open and I realized ...uhhh whaattt...Bard Inn, Ashland, Oregon? Oh yeah...that vacation that never was. Cringe. Apparently, I had made a reservation back in June and forgot all about it. Okay that's on me. So, now it's midnight and I call back and apologize to the employee that I was sorry for my snottiness and paranoia, explaining the situation that I didn't even remember that I had made a reservation and I'd never received an e-mail from the hotel upon booking nor even a reminder more recently. The employee told me that he would explain to management the situation and they would see what they could do. Well, I received the call from management this morning and they were steadfast in their refusal to refund anything (though they did offer a weak compensation of 15% off if I choose to go there in the future). So, I have learned an expensive lesson, $169 to be exact, to be more organized and not to depend on receiving your usual reminder e-mail. I have given the hotel a "1" for their inflexibility and lack of understanding of a single parent, in the middle of a pandemic, hoping to make a trip north with her 17 and 13 year old sons to look at Oregon colleges, but whose plans fell through. $169 is a lot of money for me. I wish they had met me half way and did a partial refund of $85--I would have been writing a 5 review with the same warning here to readers, except I would have said I was appreciative that they understood sometimes we get forgetful and also seeing as I had no receipt from them; if that's done, it's "only a courtesy e-mail" so they said. So, if you make a reservation at this hotel--make sure you remember you did! I do hope that Bard Inn does a better job with their electronic communication in the future. read more
