My sister in law made a reservation for us to visit to Bay House during our Christmas visit to Naples. All I can say is wow!!! The food, service and ambiance was truly amazing and everyone in our party was thrilled with the experience. If you have a chance to stop by and taste the cuisine, you will not be disappointed. Try the homemade cornbread too, it's a crowd favorite. The restaurant has valet parking and they treat everyone special when you pull up to the door. The Bay House has been around for a long time. It's waterfront with the front being on the Cocohatchee River. As this was my first visit I wanted to go for seafood. For starters I ordered 6 oysters on the half shell $21. Good but very small. For my entree I ordered Jerk Swordfish. The dish came with mashed sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and greens. I would say my swordfish was somewhat small in the size department. I could not really get a Jerk flavor either. So, value was somewhat lacking for this dish. $39 seemed a bit high. Mrs. K. had a shrimp cocktail and wedge salad for her entree. The shrimp cocktail was $21, and the salad was $16. 5 medium size shrimp with tail on. Service was impeccable. The ambiance of the outdoor patio dining area is beautiful, but please put on mosquito repellent! The restaurant was kind enough to provide this, as the issue is real. However, the view and dining by the water is beautiful. We ordered the short rib and salmon dishes. The salmon dish comes with a sweet potato purée and broccoli. I wasn't a fan of this pairing with the sweet potato, and the broccoli is only slightly steamed. The salmon tasted great. For the short ribs dish, the short rib was tender and delicious. A bit more flavor would have been nice. It was paired with a mushroom spread, which tasted great, mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The Brussel sprouts seemed over cooked with a burnt taste, therefore, the short ribs and mushrooms was the best part of this dish. The service was spectacular. Kind, calm service. With bottle service, the server kept the glasses full. Overall, I would recommend this location for a romantic date night. It truly sets the mood. read more

I have food intolerances, so I make sure to check the menu, call to ask to speak to the front of the house and/or chef. I was assured that afternoon that there would be no problem making a sauce without onion or garlic and that I could have more than a plain piece of fish with nothing but salt and pepper, and that I would have a choice of fresh fish dishes to choose from. My Thursday night dinner was such a great disappointment. Carrie said on the phone that I'd have no difficulty with my allium intolerance, as all sauces can be made to order. Not even a possibility! The GM was so proud to share that there are only 12 burners for the 600 covers that night. So big pots of sauces are prepared in advance. No way that a simple but delicious sauce would be possible. The dried up salt and pepper-less crab appetizer came after the main course. Oh, did you order that? Duh! Never coming back and sharing the experience with everyone we know and don't know yet. This place is fancy! Menu looks awesome. Let's eat Pretty busy and we arrived an hour before our reservation. They were not quite ready for us so we looked to the bar to have a drink before dinner. Water filled, drink orders taken and menus given. So many good sounding things on the menu. Tough to choose. We landed on the South of Broad to start. This was a fried green tomato stack with a herbed goat cheese, tomato jam and pepper jelly vinaigrette. Amazing flavors. Yummy!! Next we moved on to mains. I ordered the special. Black grouper over a andouille sausage risotto. Really good. So many good flavors and the fish was cooked really good. Deb had the Charleston Carpetbagger Steak. The steak was cooked perfectly but the fried oysters were a little tough. Deb was not a fan of this one. We also had some of Chef Jamie's Cornbread. Very good. Really nice wine list that had something for everyone and decent prices. Probably best to buy a bottle than drink by the glass. Cocktails were really good. Nice pours and prepared well. Truly extraordinary! It's our annual tradition to have dinner here while in the area and last night may have been the very best ever in our decade+ dining here. Our server was fantastic. And the food was AMAZING. The oysters on the half shell were perfectly salty and sweet. The crab cocktail is the best of the menu. And other menu favorites include the Seafood BLT, the corn crab chowder, and the MUST DO house cornbread with honey butter. I booked an outdoor waterfront table here for Christmas dinner. It turned out to be quite a chilly Christmas in Naples. I figured my Chicago family could handle it if we bundled up and were under a heater, but after freezing earlier in the day canceled our reservation since they couldn't find anything indoors. Fortunately, we were able to get another waterfront table reservation for later in the week when it was more typical Florida weather. The atmosphere is absolutely perfection. The entire restaurant is beautiful, but we loved sitting out by the water. The service was pretty stellar too and our kids enjoyed being at a "fancy" restaurant, which in my opinion was a little too fancy for them. The food was good, but nothing amazing...you're paying mostly for the atmosphere and service. I love a good seafood tower so got the smaller one for my entree, but it was one of the more underwhelming seafood towers I've had and I wished I had ordered something else. My 12 and 7 year olds happily ate from the kids menu (a pasta/shrimp and a cheeseburger). My 10 year old insisted on the seafood BLT from the grown up menu, which was way too sophisticated for his taste and ended up eating his siblings meals...and complaining he was hungry later on. He promised me he will never order from an adult menu again. :) I had a few bites of his entree and wasn't such a fan either, but then again it's not something I'd typically order. The kids did get to try their first oysters, which they didn't love, but I did find them to be really good! And the glass of rose I had with my meal was also quite lovely. And for dessert we all shared an ice cream sundae and key lime pie, which is a must for us when on the menu. The key lime pie made up for the so so seafood tower. I'd definitely come back for the lovely waterfront view alone. I'd also probably order something else next time and maybe I'd be more of a fan of the food. read more

The food was pretty good though. We shared the poke trio. The most interesting part was the watermelon poke which satisfied my "raw" fish craving since I am preggo. It actually tasted just like the real thing. I also had the roasted black cod which melted in your mouth. I ended with the key lime dessert which was a bit too tart. This place was better on our previous visit. Not sure why, but that was November and it seemed less busy. This visit, the restaurant was crowded and the servers seemed stretched byond their limits. We felt rushed in ordering, and food was kind of thrown down on the table when delivered. Given the price point, service needs to be better. For food, we had the corn bread, which is good. Then for entrees, crab corn soup and a wedge salad--which were good; salmon and sweet potatoes--which was good , but the broccolini was over cooked and stringy; shrimp and grits--one of the best choices here; and yellow tail snapper garnished with seafood--also good, but the green beans were nearly raw and inedible. The martinis were great, and the duckhorn sauvignon blanc good, but highly priced. The ambience is upscale and usually pleasing but this time everything felt very rushed. Not relaxing. So should you go? Well maybe but there are a lot of other places that have better pace. read more

A fabulous find on our trip with many interesting creations as it was hard to decide what to order. I did order the petite filet with fried oysters and fingerling potatoes. The steak was cooked perfect and the oysters had a nice light batter with a tasty roumalard sauce. We added to our order the local farmer salad which was super fresh and my husband enjoyed fresh raw oysters. The chef also gave tables a taster of a lovely cream of broccoli soup. Everything people ordered looked fabulous and was wishing I was a local so I could be back soon. I was disappointed in a rather expensive restaurant. We chose the special menu that's offered in summer. Everything was fine with the first course and second course, which was an entrée. However, a problem arose. My partner is gluten-free and they would not substitute 2 scoops of sorbet for a minuscule Keylime pie cup. The Bay House was a last minute reservation at the start of the busy season in Naples. I had booked a different spot that a member of our party didn't want to eat at due to the outside seating facing a highway. I am generally more weighted towards food quality/uniqueness vs ambiance, but I was hosting this meal for others, so I was aiming to please. This restaurant was up my guest's alley, and since it was the day before, I could only get a 5:15PM in the Tavern room. I took it and off we went. The place was already buzzing when we arrived for dinner. We were seated and served our first course quickly. We tried the crispy cauliflower, wedge salad and Caesar salad, all perfectly good. For entrees we had the short ribs (a winner), the salmon (Scottish, not something this Seattleite would order, but to each their own), the St. Augustine stew (lots of fresh seafood chunks) and the Sea BLT ( seafood was the star, but not a preparation I care for). The sun was setting which not only set the mood beautifully but kept the temps down and made for an incredible night. I had the black grouper with Meyer lemon risotto which was absolutely outstanding! Others at the table had surf and turf, the roasted black cod and the braised short ribs. Everyone really enjoyed their food. I'm a sucker for bread pudding - this one was just mediocre. It didn't help that I was already stuffed and hadn't realized they'd be bringing out a birthday surprise as well. All and all - the company, ambiance and food were all outstanding. Lovely location on the river and there's really no bad seat whether on the deck looking over the river, in the dining room, in the claw bar where we were or in the beachy space by the parking lot. We only had raw bar ( Claw Bar) items but honestly if those are great that tells you about the quality...right? Nice wine and beer selection. We typically come here every time we're in Naples because the service is stellar, the ambience is relaxing, there's a lovely view of the water, and the seafood is the freshest. This trip we didn't go for our favorite (the outrageously huge Seafood Tower that one brother and I can demolish on our own) and stepped into some new experiences. There are three appetizers we had not tried: Tuna Poke, Seasonal Watermelon Poke, and Ceviche. We decided to split the sampler of all three, served in little ramekins with some crackers and tortilla strips. The tuna and the ceviche were excellent but the wildcard was the Watermelon Poke. Ruby red, marinated in citrus soy with ginger, its texture was meaty with a fresh burst of watermelon juiciness. I would eat a whole plate of that! For mains I decided on the grouper special, grilled and served on a bed of perfectly-cooked farro, topped with lump crab meat and accompanied by halved roasted Brussels sprouts.
