I have never written a Yelp review before, but I finally signed up, just so I could give The Bea Keeper the five stars it deserves. I have three cats, and was going on vacation with my sister (my normal pet sitter) for 10 days. The last time my sister and I went on vacation, I hired the teenager and her mother next door, because I was a pet sitter at her age and it was a great thing to have references on my resume at such a young age. Well, luckily for my cats, my parents came by to visit the cats only to find them with NO water, tons of food in there bowls, and two litter boxes that hadn't been cleaned in days. It was AWFUL! Needless to say, I was very cautious about choosing a new and professional pet sitter this time! I went on Yelp and careful read all of the reviews and visited websites. I chose The Bea Keeper for three reasons: (1) all five-star reviews with details about people's experiences with them; (2) it was run by a daughter/mother team, and I feel that responsible teens should be given an opportunity to earn money like adults; and (3) the cost - I needed someone to visit two daily for 10 days, and everyone else was $8+ more a visit (they drive a Prius, and therefore spend less money on gas - this is their cost savings to you). I emailed The Bea Keeper about their availability to meet with me and my cats, and Karen (the mom) emailed me back within a day. I set up an in-person interview/meet-and-greet with Karen (she is highly flexible with her schedule to meet you). When she came over, she was extremely professional, with a form that had every question you would think a professional pet sitter would ask. Karen also was very nice and friendly; even my shy male cat let her pet him. She had me read a sign a contract, which, again, I thought very professional. I had booked the Bea Keeper about six months in advance, and as my vacation dates became closer, I kept in contact with Karen via email, making sure they could still watch the cats - the answer was always "yes" of course. While I was on vacation, I received almost daily emails with statuses and photos of the cats, as per my request. Karen and Bea played with the cats, brushed them, petted them, and loved them, in addition to feeding, watering, and cleaning litter boxes. They also brought in my mail and opened and closed the window blinds daily. (It also looks like they vacuumed my hardwood floors, because there is no litter or cat hair all over the place!) When I returned home, my cats were contently laying in their spots. Usually, when I return home from vacation, they either hide from me or practically smother me with love, but they acted as if I never left. This tells me that Bea and Karen paid great attention to them, and that the cats were happy. I am thrilled with the wonderful and professional job that The Bea Keeper did with my cats, and will be hiring only them in the future! I highly recommend this amazing pet-sitting duo! read more

We love Bea and Karen! Several times now they've taken care of our dogs, Hogey and Mack, as well as our cat, Topaz. We can always count on great care for our pets when we're out of town. It's great being able to leave town whether for a day trip, a few days or even weeks and never having to worry about our pets getting the care they need. Simply amazing!! Karen and Bea were fantastic. They came over to meet me and my cat a few days before my trip and were so extremely thorough with questions, I had no reservations about leaving my kitty in such good hands. My little Mischa tends to be a bit of a scardy cat and will hide under the covers when new people come around and while she did not come out from her hiding place on the original meeting, she did come around after about the third day. I have to say that this is a credit to Karen's calming demeanor and her understanding of how to make animals at ease.
