While on vacation (5/17/22), I wanted a) outside dining with an ocean view and b) a crab cake. The Beach Bucket had both. Crab cakes are appetizers, and are a hearty size for an app. The remoulade sauce was fantastic, but the crab was shy on lumps of crab. The filler was delicious though! Fast friendly service. Two considerations: seating is open seating, so there were people stannding around waiting for folks to get up & leave. Uncomfortable. Parking can be tough if the hotel is full, and the seating is of course located beachside. Bring your patience, it's worth it. read more

Absolutely loved this slightly hidden beach front restaurant. Make sure to park in the public parking next door. You will see an opening in the fence that leads to the restaurant. Once there, sit on the patio and enjoy the beach view and fresh sea air. I had the shrimp tacos with an avocado and tomato salsa and it was wonderful. For a slight up charge I ordered onion rings and they are cut thick with a crunchy outer layer. Yummy! My husband had the fish sandwich blackened and he was super happy with freshness, seasoning and portion. We will definitely back read more

I've been here a bunch before and I've never had a bad meal. But today I had the best meal I've ever had here. The shrimp and bacon panini was absolutely unbelievable! The mild Buffalo shrimp were to die for also. I cannot wait to go back next year to have the same thing! The service was great as always! I loved dining beachside at the Beach Bucket! They have indoor and outdoor dining options. While the outdoor seating looked tempting because of the beach view, opted to sit inside at lunch to take advantage of the a/c. It's small on the inside but cozy. The restaurant was very accommodating to our party of two adults and two children, helping us with high chairs and getting an order of hot, crispy fries to our table quicker than I have ever seen before. Oceanfront breakfast is a good idea here. You're sat above the sand, overlooking the beach! That was a winner but it is clear the issue of short staffing is still very alive. Their hostess sat me but ran off and no menu was provided. Sat a good 5 mim until I could flag her down for a menu. She seem to have forgotten to tell the server assigned to my table she had a patron. Eventually a lady stopped by to get my drink order and told me waitress be over soon.. I ordered a margarita and the seafood omelet. Drink awesome, but omelet had a lot of crab exo skeleton pieces so each bite I ended up spitting them out. I collected 5 pieces. Eating breakfast with a view of the ocean was a must on our recent trip to Ormond Beach. We found this location which was a nice walk down the beach from our hotel. We arrived around 9 a.m. on a weekday and were able to sit at a table near the sand. We were quickly greeted and given menus though we already knew what we were ordering, eggs benedict. Each member of our party chose a different option, regular, chorizo or crab. All had nice flavor and were a good portion size for the money. My husband and I were celebrating 7 years together, we ended up here instead of Riptides and boy were we happy! Happy hour starts at 2pm and there is a large selection! If you sit below you a get a view of the ocean. The piped music over the loudspeakers was a bit off for me because it was European clubby at times. We had the fish tacos, tilapia and shrimp, which were juicy and cooked well. The fries stole the show though. Crispy and soft on the inside when warm. My husband liked the onion rings but they felt a bit mealy to me. Lastly let me tell you about the drinks, those things will knock you out. Since it was our anniversary we got a souvenir bucket drink to share, totally worth it, but after a beer and that drink, I was ready to sleepy. It might be happy hour but they didn't skimp. Came for breakfast this morning. The prices are great, the food is great, and it's right on the water. The homefries were crispy, thank god! So many places manage to mess up homefries. The biscuits were delicious. The menu isn't over the top. Happy with the service. Many folks came to check in on us. The only thing I found very odd was that the manager instructed all the employees to shut the umbrellas. Apparently one umbrella went running which prompted the decision. It was 80 degrees today and I would describe the wind as a light breeze. Definitely under 10mph. It's right on the ocean so I'd imagine winds like that are very common. I think it would probably make more sense for the manager to contemplate why an umbrella ran off. Are the winds actually harsh, or maybe you just have one poorly secured umbrella. Or maybe all your umbrellas are cheap? Old? Rusting? What's the root cause? It was painful to watch people come in and open their umbrellas just to have a waitress come over and close it on them on a hot day. Then was told by a surly waitress that my 9 lb dog in a bag couldn't be there unless he was a service dog. If that's the rule it should be posted. Well I visited my family here in Daytona over the weekend and they took me to a local hidden gem that i absolutely fell in love with. Great views- literally on the beach. Great drinks- frozen beach drinks. And food menu was plentiful and we all enjoyed what we ate. I recommend the mahi fish tacos. Hubby had veggie panini and he loved it. Love the vibes here. It truly is a place for locals. It's located inside the hotel but you can only see it if you walk to the back- towards the beach. Hidden entrance which I love. Can't wait to come back. Absolutely the worst dining experience I've ever had in my life. Heard the beach bucket finally re-opened after being closed because of the hurricanes, so decided to check it out. I arrive at the Ocean East property which the restaurant is a part of and am rudely told by a security guy on a golf cart that you can't park in the parking lot you have to find public parking. I am bit surprised but was told the restaurant and hotel are separate businesses. So I park at Andy Romano beachfront park and walk over to the beach bucket where its quite packed. The inside is a fairly small space with a bar where there were people packed pretty tightly and a few tables and there are outside tables overlooking the ocean. The view is certainly the main reason to come here. It was very hot outside so I opted to sit inside although no one acknowledged me so I had to flag down a server and ask where I could sit. I was sat at a small table and ordered a breakfast sandwich which came with home fries. I decided to wash my hands so I ask where the bathroom is and its of course in the hotel. So I go back in the hallway back through to where the front desk is and outside where the bathroom is. Upon walking back in the same security guy is there and points and tells me I need to go that way to the restaurant. I say yes I know and continue walking. At this point the guy says well I saw you on video and you were in our elevators and walking upstairs. I am stunned as I never stepped on an elevator and I really don't like being falsely accused of things I haven't done. I tell him I haven't done any such thing and I would like him to show me the video. He gets extremely angry and starts yelling at me that I need to leave the premises. This escalates pretty quickly into a shouting match with him getting within inches of my face and screaming at me that I need to leave immediately and that he is going to call the police to remove me from the property. I tell him to go ahead and call the police, I haven't done anything wrong. I walk away and go back to the beach bucket to my table. I'm pretty shaken from this whole event and I request to speak to the manager. The server seems unsurprised as she said they've continually had problems with the hotel and security harassing their guests. The manager comes over, hes a black fellow (didnt catch his name) but proceeds to tell me how he is the manager of the beach bucket but not the hotel and he has no authority over anyone in the hotel or their actions. He said if theres a problem with the food or service that he could help me. In addition, he starts talking down to me like I'm an idiot about how anyone can call the police, the police work for all tax payers and anyone is free to call them if they wish. He said go ahead and let them call the police, you are here at the restaurant and not doing anything wrong. I realize I'm not doing anything wrong, the problem is the manager clearly doesn't care about the business if that is how he reacts to a customer being treated this way. I tell him I'll never come back, which you probably don't care as long as the restaurant is busy but thats not the way to handle things. If I'm a manager of a business and a customer of mine is harassed and screamed at I will be sure to address it with the other company. I'm not going to tell them this has nothing to do with me. To the owners credit he did talk to me and tell me what happened wasn't acceptable and he took my contact information. I am posting this 24 hours later and I haven't heard back from him. Regarding the food it was OK. Probably a little overpriced for what it was but I'm sure their expenses are high given the location. The breakfast sandwich was good but the home fries were just precooked / frozen. As I said earlier the main draw is the beautiful oceanfront view but the experience was definitely ruined for me. The employees seem to know that it is an ongoing issue and I just can't believe they have allowed this to continue for so long. This should have been addressed long ago. I can't imagine running a business and allowing this type of harassment to continue. A regular at a nearby table told me this has been going on for years. Well this was a 1st and last time for me. I'll go back to Peach Valley where I know I won't be threatened just for being a customer. read more

I was in a bad mood the night we visited, but this place really cheered me up over the course of dinner. Our server Amanda and all the wait staff were very friendly and the food is good bar food. The view is spectacular being right on the beach. I had a Mai Tai that was tasty and a good price. The smoked fish dip makes a great starter, and the tri-color chips are so fresh. From the inside you'd think it was a local dive but once outside it opens to a huge tiered patio overlooking the ocean. The peel n East shrimp were excellent. Fish dip, tacos, and drinks were amazing. Don't leave without getting a "voodoo punch" bucket drink. read more

Actually it was pretty nice place to go for breakfast. Right on the beach and they have a nice deck to sit and enjoy the sun sand and sea. Service was a bit slow but this the beach on a Sunday morning. A little island time. They also make a great bloody Mary. Always a good start for a Sunday breakfast. Look for it.
