My wife and I chose this property for our first time in Calistoga. We only did an overnight stay during the weekdays, but the following are some of the key observations from this place. Location *Situated at the end of Lincoln avenue, where a good amount of stores are to be found, we were able to walk roundtrip from the property to CalMart (Market & Deli) in 15 minutes. *Advice: if you are to select a room, I would suggest any room besides those that are next to the busy street. *Good amount of parking on site. Service *The staff was amazing & very friendly. *We were initially placed in their most basic room. The room that we selected was the same room info, but fireplace is outdoors. Front desk personnel working at the time of our check-in on 6/9/21 (4pm) got this sorted out right away and we switched rooms with no problem. I was even given the opportunity to check out the room ahead of time if we wanted to make sure we want to change or not. Room *We chose to upgrade from the basic room to the next level higher which came with an in-room fireplace (electric and easy to use). *The Basic room which we got a chance to see up to the time we switched rooms, was a bit cramped. The room with a fireplace is bigger, more spread out, bathroom is further away from the bed location than basic room and bathroom sink is inside the bathroom not outside. *DirectTV is used for TV entertainment. Most channels are available. *Bathroom had products from Loccitane brand which included hand soap, shower body gel, shampoo and conditioner. Overall, The Bergson is a place I'd recommend for first-time and regular customers. read more

The bed was so comfortable - like sleeping on a cloud. They offer a nice continental breakfast but we chose to walk to Bella Bakery instead - which I recommend as well. Fabulous little B&B style hotel very close and walkable to the main street of Calistoga. I enjoyed how clean, comfortable and stylish our room was. Even though we only had a basic queen room, our stay could not have been better as it included a lounge and patio and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud with soft sheets, down featherbed and comforter! I also appreciated the nice touches of high quality L'Occitane bath products and spa bathrobes. The breakfast spread was delicious - fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, avocado toast, delicious baked goods and hot items too like ham and cheese croissants - complete with very welcoming seating options - a bright outdoor patio with water feature or cozy fireplace lounge. What a great start to a day of wine tasting! This will be my preferred place to stay anytime in this area. read more

This is the first time i experienced staying at a B&B. We loved it. So much. The moment when I opened our door I was wowed by the room decor. I wasn't expecting the room to have high ceilings and great furniture. And can we talk about the spa bath that fits two people?! It's like the best honeymoon spot. The room was clean and accommodated everything that we needed for the weekend. They serve breakfast every morning which consist of your coffee and juices, bagels, muffin, other pastries,boiled egg and on weekends they serve quiche! Staff was very attentive and friendly. No issues at all. The B&B is close to Downtown Calistoga where you can enjoy a stroll to different antique stores and a strip of very good restaurants. Also, they are in the middle of remodeling because it's going to be under new management. Everything looks and feels new! They might also change the name of the B&B pretty soon. Although the bed is comfortable, the blankets that are chosen do not breathe and it was impossible to stay at a comfortable temperature, even when setting the thermostat to a very cold temperature. The rooms are not insulated well and you can expect to be disturbed by both the noise on the street (it is right next to the main street) as well as your neighbors. My first time here with my spouse. The room was like a honeymoon suite and felt like an actual honeymoon. The place had a Friendly staff, the room was clean with New England tasteful decor and the buildings looked of New England architecture. Comfort level for me was top rate as the bed and pillows comfortable. A charming complimentary breakfast was provided with excellent and friendly service. We even received a history of the hotel from the staff. It was nice to have one on one conversational interaction with the employees. Came here for our anniversary last September. My sister in law gave us a gift certificate for a tour at Castello de Amorosa winery. The drive to the winery from the Bergeson is only about 5 minutes. The rooms are very nice. Ours had a fire place and a large jacuzzi tub. The rooms aren't laid out like a traditional hotel or motel. It looks like you're coming into a small condo complex or even a larger bed and breakfast. It's also a very short walk around the corner from the downtown area. Really good when the weather is nice so you won't have to worry about parking. Breakfast is in the main lobby. Very nice, and simple. They provide cereals, boiled eggs, breads to toast, coffe, and pastries from a local bakery. Not much else to comment on other than we look forward to our next stay. read more

We were coming to the Napa Valley for Oakland Raiders training camp and last minute, we decided to make a weekend of it and wine taste. We tasting from south Napa, up through Calistoga, and landed here at the Bergson for the night. Wow! Such a cool place! Friendly staff, clean, and for this area, extremely reasonable price! Our room had its own little courtyard with fireplace. Beds were super comfortable, and we were served a great breakfast the next day! Wifi included as well! Cute hotel and idea. We where really excited to stay here for our romantic getaway until we realized at 5am there is a skylight in our room. What a terrible design flaw on my vacation. At the very least a blackout curtain in the sleeping area would have been nice to block out the morning sun. The room absolutely has a murky smell. It was alleviated by the ac that we had to turn on. I am assuming there is mold.... we even called in two hours ahead to co form our checking time. A nice addition would have been to have the ac on. At least on low to cool the room. It was muggy and took some time to become comfortable. But once on it was pleasant enough. Otherwise, if your an early riser, the service was friendly and accommodating. The bed and accessories extremely comfortable and relaxing, lots of pillows and plush bedding. Clean quiet and cozy. We would come back again but request as room without the extra skylighting and make sure the ac is turned on ahead of time. It's a mom n pop place so our expectations are lower here. read more

My husband and I spent one night at the Bergson. We were very happy with our stay, it was clean, beautifully decorated, close to Calistoga downtown, and staff was very nice. I'm not sure why other people are giving this 3 stars, but this place is a steal. By checking in on Yelp, we got a free room upgrade, which was the King Suite with whirlpool spa. I almost don't want to review this because when I go back , I want to be able to get a room here. I don't ever recall staying anywhere more idyllic in my life. The front desk was very accomodating to our needs. We needed to get up early to catch the balloon ride in Yountville, so we were potentially going to miss breakfast. They were going to put our breakfast in our room for us while we were away so we could eat when we got back. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go due to high winds, but the gesture was really appreciated. The room itself was awesome. We had our own fireplace, a giant 2 person whirpool tub (which could sit 2 side-by-side), and a king size feather bed. After a night on the town, we relaxed in a bubble bath by the light of the fireplace, drinking wine from the nearby Castella di Amoroso. It was quiet, cozy and wonderful. I won't consider going anywhere else in Calistoga. read more

Overall a great little spot. For Napa area this is a great value. It's in the $200 range, and you get breakfast as well as a jacuzzi tub with fireplace. Hard to beat considering so many other places charge more for less. Pros - clean and quiet. It is close to the road, but we didn't notice the noise very much. Request a back room just in case. Room is large and like I said - it has a tub and fireplace. They also have a ton of TV channels if that is important. The location is great too since you can walk to downtown Callistoga for meals but still close enough to the rest of Napa to drive. Cons - not really any major cons. The breakfast is continental. It's good, but don't expect to have anything more than a continental breakfast. That being said, it's nice to grab a quick snack in the morning on your way out to a wine tasting and other restaurant. I mean come on, with so many restaurants, who comes to Napa for the free breakfast? Overall a great value and nice place to set up for a trip to Napa. read more

Five stars for room 10, absolutely worth the upgrade from a regular room, with its own private little patio and outdoor fireplace. When we arrived it was already all set up with a cache of wood for our pyrotechnic pleasure. And because this room is on the back of the building, it's secluded and no one can see in your patio except you, which makes it feel more like a little studio apartment without the kitchen. You can see straight to the fireplace from the bed, thanks to cute little french doors - just make sure to close the blinds, otherwise the kind person who brings the breakfast trays will have to delicately avert their eyes. What happens in Calistoga stays in Calistoga. There is a nice common patio and indoor sitting area too, complete with complimentary port, but room 10 will make you into a hermit. Christopher's is right around the corner from Main Street, Wasilla, I mean Calistoga, so you can enjoy all the other pleasures that can't be accomplished with just a bed and a fireplace. read more

My husband got unexpectedly laid off and we needed to cut back the fat in the budget and this was definitely fat for 3 nights $700 = $70 non refundable nonsense. I was impressed by how impeccable everything was. Sometimes B&Bs say "rustic" as a euphemism for "old", but Christopher is even newer and shinier than in the pictures! We contacted James in December regarding our wedding room block for April of 2013. He was helpful, and provided us with comprehensive info including a rate card differentiating between 3/29/13-5/30/13 (Spring Rates), and 5/31/13-11/9/13 (Summer Rates). We had another wedding celebration overseas in December in honor of my future mother in law... So needless to say, it was an insanely busy period. Because we trusted James and the details he provided, we focused our efforts on the December event. Upon returning home, and less than 4 weeks from our last communication with him, we asked James to send us a contract to complete. Lo and behold: 1) He rescinded upon the original AAA discount that he agreed to (although he claims this was a "misunderstanding", I have an email from him - and from this email I quote "Yes, I can set the entire group block up for XX% discount off with AAA") 2) He jacked up the rates in the contract without giving myself or my wedding planner a heads up... Surprise surprise, "Summer Rates" now apply for our stay in April. Any unsuspecting and trusting person, who wouldn't think of cross checking the rate card, would've been duped. We completely understand that flights/hotels use demand-driven pricing models. Further, in hindsight, we should've pushed to complete the contract before heading overseas - all fair, and we will consider as lessons learned. However, we are appalled at the manner in which he materially changed the pricing on us - without at least a courtesy notice especially since his rate card outlined dates for all of 2013, and without honoring previously agreed to terms. All in all, this is simply dishonorable business practice. If considering this hotel, take heed of our experience... Proceed with caution read more

I made this reservation, at this particular inn, BECAUSE they had a suite. We were a threesome,my husband, myself and my niece (very much an adult). The room we had was really a part of a duplex; we had a small living room, 2 bedrooms, one very old-fashioned bathroom, and a quaint glassed-in porch with a really great farmer's table. The initial reaction I had is what so many have commented on here. They REALLY need to air out these rooms. They smell old! My biggest suggestion to the owners, though, are minor changes to the bathroom that would make it so much more convenient. First, put some towel bars in. My husband didn't find the bath towels (in a wicker basket on the floor) until he was attempting to dry his furry body with a hand towel. Also, I don't mind that you economize and buy supplies at Costco, but you could take the wrapper off the toilet paper and let us think you splurged on Charmin! At $330 for one night, I didn't think this was a bad deal, considering the area. We had private bedrooms and a nice area for chatting. Our breakfast was delivered to the front door and consumed on the sun-dappled back porch. Since it seems all we do on holiday is go from one meal to another, the light breakfast was just a nice touch. Would I stay here again? Doubtful. But the one-time experience was, all in all, a fairly positive one. read more

The reviews on the Inn are all over the place, but my fiancee and I really enjoyed our stay. If you are providing a fair rating based on other bed and breakfast joints and not fancy hotels, I would give it 3.5-4 stars. We slept with the fireplace on a low roar and walked over to the office for fresh coffee and pastries in the morning (but only having a snack so we could eat at some amazing breakfast place!) We were in room 12 and it was very clean, and the decor is kind of French/Shabby Chic with large mirrors and vintage furniture. Over our two night stay, we didn't have any complaints. You can hear people moving around upstairs in the morning, but it isn't that bad. Overall, it was pretty darn quiet when we were there. I was able to run in the neighborhood behind the Inn one morning- which was lovely because all the leaves were changing and it was about 60 degrees and sunny. Downtown/Lincoln street is within walking distance and T Vines Winery just moved their tasting room about a 5 minute walk down the road. Nice stop and nice people. read more

Stayed only one night. Was passing through on our way north and stopped in napa valley. This hotel, reminds me more of a bed and breakfast, was just a few minutes outside the main area of Napa wineries. We ate dinner just around the corner from the hotel, walking distance. Hotel parking was no problem. Free continental breakfast, was good for being free. Room was a little small, aka cozy. In room fireplace. Not much heat is put out from the fireplace. We used it more as a cozy touch while we slept, and it was August :) Grabbed some supplies on our way back from dinner at a gas station also near hotel. This was a Sunday night and other stores/attractions in the area were already closed, so cannot comment much on the areaHowever, would recommend and would stay again. read more

This place is just lovely! This was maybe our 4th time staying in Calistoga, but by far my favorite place we stayed! We had I'm assuming one of the bigger rooms, located above the main lobby area and I'm pretty sure we were the only room in that area. Super private. Room was adorable. Giant bathtub! Fire place! Comfy bed! Super clean! Quiet! It was perfect! We spent a lot of time in the room just enjoying it and relaxing. Leaving the toddler at home, we finally got a chance to watch our own tv shows! It was raining like crazy that weekend, but it made it extra cozy hanging out in the room and watching the rain from our porch. The breakfast was simple and yummy they had for us in the morning! We will hands down be back for another relaxing weekend. read more

The outside presents itself well and appears to be well cared for. The lobby was nicely decorated and I think that in front of the fireplace would be a nice place to sit when the weather turns cold. The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the room was pretty nasty and that is really the reason for a B&B/hotel/etc isn't it? The carpet looked as though it had not seen cleaning in years, and this included the stairs, room and bathroom dressing area (bad enough there was carpet under a sink but it was REALLY dirty to make matters worse). The tile floor in the bathroom and shower was also dirty. The room was small enough that a proper cleaning of the floors was not more than a 45 minute job so no excuse is good enough. Did I mention the noise? Our room was upstairs and though not directly facing the highway (yeah, foothill blvd is a highway) it was only one room back and VERY noisy. Like wake you up each time a truck rumbles thru kinda noisy, and unless you drank WAY too much the night before, you will be up as soon as the commute starts around 6am on a weekday. Breakfast was adequate though pretty simple/spartan. If I had paid rack rate it would have been awful but given the rate, it was OK. All in, they have a really nice location and the bones for a nice facility but the wear, dirt and noise will not have me coming back or recommending to anyone. read more

The faucet water came out so close to the back of the sink that when you wash your hands there was not enough room without hitting the sink with you hands. I can't give this place zero starts. Hence only one star. We were here a few months ago for a wedding. Again, avoid like the plague! Our first room smelled like rotting tuna? Why, you ask? It was getting worked on for a pipes issue and someone did leave a can of rotting tuna in the room for the cat, which wanders the property. Anywho, I go to wash my hands and brown, brackish water comes out! so, gross! I try the faucet in the shower/bath tub and same thing! We complained and were shifted to a nearby room. The cat came in and my parents are allergic to cats. I had to shoo the cat away. I had the worst nights of sleep while staying here. Uncomfortable! The shower/bath tub isn't made for short people. I almost feel and hit my head climbing out of there. Overall, I say this place is a dump! p.s. the rooms smell badly...and the linens seem very old too! read more
