    Menu-July 2026

I was looking for a Songbird and ended up in this lovely new establishment. I took a stroll down into Pioneer Square and I ended up in this bar. When I walked in,I wasn't even entirely sure they were open but the owner and his wife reassured me they were,it was just their second day open and they were fixing a few things, not to mention it was pretty early in the evening still, like maybe 5pm. We sat down at the bar and the owner told us they were a beer and wine bar and their menu was on the wall. After a quick look,we went with a Hazy IPA from Moonraker and a lager-type beer with a Belgian name. Beers ran like $8 for the lager and $12 for the hazy. The place is very small-maybe 8-10 bar stools and a little sofa area to sit away from the bar. Talking to the owner,I really have high hopes for the place, the owner is a former high level chef at a Michelin-level restaurant and he has plans to have a small food menu down the road at this location-I think that will be really great. At this time they don't have cocktails-which is kind of funny because there is another bar in Pioneer Square that is only serving cocktails-no beer or wine-something tells me that wasn't an accident. I always applaud new businesses opening in Sacramento, especially Old Sacramento and I really think this spot has a chance to really succeed, the owners seem like really good people and the place has a really great vibe. I think if you find yourself in Old Sacramento and you're in the mood for a drink,I'd say check out the Bier Projekt-they are really good people.

We checked out the soft opening of The Bier Projekt yesterday and loved the cozy, classy vibes in here. It's located in Pioneer Square in Old Sac. The bar is beautiful; I like the ambiance and lighting and the variety of seating throughout. There's a cute nook with bar seats and a small table on the left side of the bar and a couch with 2 chairs on the right; we lounged in the couch and chair after getting our drinks and they were comfy af. We also liked that they have a tv; we were able to watch some World Cup- love! They offer beer as well as wine. The drink menu is on the wall to the left of the bartop. They have some beers that are familiar to me like Cali Creamin' Nitro and have others I haven't heard of but sounded fire. The place filled up quickly while we were there; I can see it being a popular weekend stop. We'll be back!

There's metered parking in the street just in front. They have a nice selection of wines and cocktails. Not the most expansive list, but a nicely curated one. Most recently, I tried the Pimms Rangoon (Gin, Ro Pimm's, fresh lemon, ginger, pineapple, fizzy water) and a wine that I can't recall. The cheeze whiz (house made whipped manchego and parm on crostini) is a must-have. The bread is wonderful as well as the cheese and olive. I'm usually not crazy about green olives, but it worked so well with the cheese. I've had tinned sardines in the past, and they were fine... along the lines of a tin of Fishwife. Next time, I'll probably try another bread & cheese dish. I like the kitschy vibe. And, our servers were nice both times I've gone. If I lived a little closer, I'd probably drop by more often, but I'll keep this place in mind when I want a drink and a small snack to go with it (and dessert at Ginger Elizabeth is next door!).

Came here for our monthly meet up with the girls and not gonna lie this was a disappointment. I have wanted to try this place for so long and it was mid at best. They didn't have a kitchen when I went so their food offerings were extremely limited which I didn't know before coming. The ambiance was great. While the space was small it packed a great punch. I will say our server disappeared and she was very short when she was unavailable. I came, I saw, it's unlikely I'll return given the many options in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. Go for the experience if you choose On the plus side we ended up at the dive bar Golden Bear after for pizza nachos and beer and I have found my new favorite dive bar so I'll call that a win!

They blend in quite well with the neighborhood, and are located across the street from one of my favorite Thai restaurants. As soon as we came in service was so kind and made us feel welcome. The staff (Bella and Alexa) were so kind to us the entire time, and when we left they even suggested we come to their events since we loved the food so much. Yes and yes!! We ordered a pairing of their best selling green curry ceviche complimented by a Riesling. we also ordered the Thai beef tartare. Ok, at first bite of the tartare... FLAVOR! It was so delicious and paired well with the Riesling. The green curry ceviche was refreshing crunchy and zesty. The beef tartare is the best in the Sacramento area hands down. We sat outdoors, and we saw that it would make a great space for intimate gatherings. I reckon as the weather gets warmer I may opt for indoor seating, but this option is definitely worth coming back for. I couldn't recommend this place any more. We snagged a cookie on the way out and NO WAY THAT BETTY COOKIE was one of the best things I've eaten. They bake too?? AND they open at 7 for my return to office mandate :( I love it here

Cool, calm, and a nice escape from the usual restaurant buzz -- exactly the kind of vibe that makes you want to linger over another glass of wine.

I choose the turkey and cheddar, the other variety sounded as it will be too hard for me to eat! I choose the turkey and cheddar! They give Military Discounts, yay for that! For Old Town Sacra, with discount, came to $7.20, so yes, the ten dollar was enough! Unlike one restaurant (will not be named) that recently closed down, they do not steal my bottled water! Once you throw in tax and tip, you're looking at over $10 for a half glass of wine. Walking out, I was talking to one of the neighbors here and asked if he had been. He said that it seemed a bit pricey for him and that he'd rather have a glass at home. I did see the table next to us order a carrot dish that looked quite interesting. I think this place would be great for a date night rather than a casual night out for instance or if you're just tired of sitting at home solo drinking lol.

This hidden gem offers an experience that's unlike anything else in the city. The setup is simple but charming: you literally walk up to a window and order your wine. I believe it's one ring for white, two for red, and three or four for sparkling--don't quote me on that, but it adds a playful, old-world vibe that makes the whole experience memorable. The Wine Window is affordable, laid-back, and surprisingly quaint. It's the kind of place where the ambiance, the people, and the energy make it feel more like an experience within an experience--not just a drink stop. I had the chance to chat with John, the owner, who shared a bit of the backstory. He previously owned a full wine room nearby, but when the pandemic hit, he had to pivot. Instead of calling it quits, he leaned into a smaller, more intimate concept inspired by wine windows in Europe. Honestly, I think the scale makes it even better. The outdoor patio is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while people-watching on L Street, and yes, there's even a restroom available (a rare but very appreciated amenity for this type of setup). If you find yourself downtown, do yourself a favor--swing by The Wine Window, have a chat with John, and enjoy a unique Sacramento experience.

Again, there was a lag between our drinks being ordered and coming out to the table. The cocktails themselves were very enjoyable and well crafted. The drinks and some appetizers held us over until dinner came out. Overall, the food turned out to be worth the wait! That was a pleasant surprise after the service started out so roughly. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and that was enough to bring this dinner up from a 3 to a 4 star experience! I really hope they're able to hire in more staff because they serve some great food and beverages.
