Love coming to this spot for happy hour. It's always quiet and chill, the service is funny & attentive & welcoming, and the food is yummy. Cannot beat $4 sapporo/asahi drafts!! The prawns are surprisingly fantastic, juicy and perfectly seasoned and large. I think they're my fav thing on the happy hour. Five stars for those. Giving it four stars only because the fish quality of the tuna and salmon nigiri were decent, but nothing special. Spicy tuna crispy rice was okay. I wish they offered other nigiri on their HH menu, because the yellowtail is delicious. Happy hour runs from 5-7 pm Monday thru Saturday. Get the prawns and a yellowtail roll!

Went for happy hour and had a great time at Big Fish. The restaurant was classy, very comfortable, and clean. The service was kind & attentive and the sushi was good. The Big Fish Skinny Burrito and Yellowtail Cilantro roll were smart choices.

came here for the first time to catch up with some girlfriends. It's a very cozy restaurant and has good quality sushi as it tasted pretty fresh to me. I can't recall of what my friends got so I'm sorry that I am unable to add what their order was in the photos. However, I ordered the popcorn shrimp tempura over a spicy tuna roll, and it was pretty tasty! I'm always on a hunt for a sushi place and I definitely think that this is a solid option if you're in the Sherman Oaks area. I didn't get our waiters, but he was very helpful and approachable so we had a great experience! The parking is a little iffy. There's only a few parking spots in the front of the restaurant and the side and it's on a main street near the 101 freeway is quite busy! We went during a more mellow time at around 8 PM on a Tuesday evening and I still had to circle around for a parking spot. I wouldn't let that deter you from trying this place. I'm sure there are other available parking options.

So good. The service was amazing, super warm and welcoming like they were actually happy we showed up. The sushi was insanely fresh and delicious. I'm still thinking about the lemon salmon sushi witchcraft magic not on the menu yet. And the happy hour menu? Wild. Like someone made a typo but in our favor. Such a good deal it almost feels illegal (but let's not tell anyone). The vibe was perfect. Chill but nice. Music not too loud, lighting just right. And I found parking right outside like the universe was on my side. Already planning my next visit.

Lively new spot ! This was my our first time going to the restaurant since they opened. It's casual but still classy. We liked the vibe! Great for a date. We loved the special rolls (got the Big Fish and Tuna Lovers and would get them again) and a few sushis. We were really impressed with the Lemom Zest Salmon sushi !! Can't wait to go back and get it again. Our server Ben was fun and quick and made great recommendations.

Among the best sushi place This place has the best sushi I highly recommend it. The staff are very understanding and courteous. I really enjoy the atmosphere too

Ahi nachos are the best thing on the menu.

So initially I thought this was going to be a five star review. But then the wheels came off. We went in for happy hour and the service and ambiance is great. Looks sleek and modern. But they only have three types of fish. The Whole Foods across the street has more variety. Then like a heard of locust so many children descended like a plaque of the ancient world. It took 15 minutes in a 15 top restaurant to get our bill. They only had one waiter for the whole place. The ahi nachos are good though. So come at own risk. Or if you really like small children kicking your seat and screaming while you eat.

GREAT neighborhood sushi spot with a TERRIFIC happy hour! Cozy, little spot on Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks, The Big Fish was a pleasant surprise. Arrived during their Happy Hour and found great prices on REALLY GOOD food! LOVED the Shrimp and the spicy, garlic edamame!! The "burrito" was really good - - we had ours with spicy tuna instead of fake crab (just ask for it - it's not on the menu!). EVERYONE who works there is LOVELY and kind!! Will go back for more yumminess!!!!

Delicious! I've never had calamari sushi. It was the perfect blend of crunch and zesty texture. I also tried the octopus balls and they were my favorite. This place is a must try

We live in the neighborhood and are happy to welcome a great new sushi place! My husband and I came in on a Saturday evening and had a really good time. Isis was our server and she set a really good time by offering suggestions and recommendations of a few of her favorites. We started with the shrimp and veg tempura and it was perfect. Exactly the right amount of breading and oil. We had a feeling we were in for more good things to come. Chicken karage with spicy mayo was very good. The spicy tuna on crispy rice is an excellent preparation and the ratio for fish to rice is spot on. 5 portions are typical but they gave us 6 so we didn't have to "fight" over who got the last piece. Albacore with crispy i onions completed the starters and it was also very good. Everything is extremely fresh and well balanced. We followed up with assorted nigiri and a tuna roll and everything was really great. We finished with their house made crème brûlée and seared eel for dessert and it really hit the spot. Love that their menu has a huge selection of rolls, some poke bowls, ramen and lots of great starters. Next time we will try the short ribs Isis recommended and the ramen along with more rolls. Washed down with a couple of beers and we left very happy and satisfied. We will most definitely be back and are happy to have a great new place in the neighborhood! Service was excellent and the price point very fair and reasonable.

They seemed like they had a lot of options. Got busier once we were there. Miso soup was very tasty and my daughter scarfed down her tuna, avocado, cucumber roll. The fish seemed fresh. They also give you an interesting, complementary bowl of sesame bean sprouts. Negatives - place needs updating - the ambience leaves something to be desired. They need a new menu, they have 3 different pieces of paper that they give you but none of them really encapsulate all of your options, which is odd. The "daily menu" included items that they didn't have. The spicy tuna roll was mediocre, nothing special. The garlic edamame were tasty but also very messy - I ended up ordering a separate bowl of regular edamame for my daughter. I would not order the tuna on the crispy rice again, the rice cake was very hard. Overall, it was a decent place for a regular night and if you don't want to wait. If you have time and want something with a big more swagger, I'd opt for somewhere else.
