My guy and I were visiting Jackson hole and wanted to eat somewhere off the crowded beaten path. Some awesome Yelp reviews brought us to this location. We were not disappointed. The food was great. My guy loved his burger. He said it was one of the best burgers he's ever eaten. I too was pleased with my meal. This place is no BS! We loved it here! It clearly states on the menu that food is homemade from scratch, will take time, and that if you're an asshole, leave! Right up our alley. Our first night staying in Jackson, we were exhausted and wanted food close by, so we stopped here. We got a house salad with blue cheese, a dozen medium buffalo wings, I got a 4oz bacon blue cheese burger and my honey got a 9oz "works" burger with Swiss. We loved EVERYTHING! Let me tell you that my boyfriend and I are both from upstate/western NY, home of the buffalo wing. I have been living "out west" and traveling for the last five years. I have not found wings that even come close to a true buffalo wing until I came and ate at the bird. These wings were the bomb! The medium buffalo sauce had the perfect kick and were so flavorful! We ordered extra crispy and they were phenomenal! Both of us were very impressed. Everything else was good too... I could barely finish half of my 4oz burger. And the blue cheese... I could probably drink that stuff. The service is good, everyone there waits on all of the tables together. Fast and efficient. The only thing is we wish we were told about the schnitzel special. It looked so awesome! We were at a big shared table and noticed the sign for the special at the other end after we ordered (and everyone else there eating it). Had the french dip and fries, and it was just okay. The meat, sauce, and fries did not have a ton of flavor or spice. The inside of the building was a solid 80 degrees because they had the doors to the patio open - very uncomfortable. When we asked for a refills on our water, our waitress pointed to the cooler and told us it is self-serve, which was a bit off-putting. She was not rude, just blunt. However, you should be going the extra mile for your customers. I would probably go back for a second shot and order another item. read more

Was on the pricey side though with a bill of $50 for 4 burgers, 2 iced teas and a lemonade. Probably ok for lunch with kids but wouldn't try dinner with them -- Looks to be more of a standard bar and grill. Menu is strange with A LOT of text on it. I was skimming it and got to a part about please pay with cash, basically because they don't want to pay the credit card fee - they go on to state how they've paid thousands of dollars in fees. The Bird is the word! A day of hiking tends to make me quite ravenous. But then again, if you know me well you know that I am ALWAYS hungry. If you have ever thought about relocating, well Jackson Hole might be the place for you if you are a burger and beer fanatic. Plus, you're right near a bunch of moose and the Grand Tetons (named for...well, a grand something) and that's all you really need in life. They have inside and outside seating available, at first we chose to dine outside, but it got a bit chilly and windy so they moved us back inside. You know, might as well experience both worlds right? They have their own meat grinder in house and get fresh stuff on the daily. They have great beer on tap and a open and airy inside that is bright and welcoming. Our waitress was super friendly and when we ordered, she told the boy, "No no, you don't want your burger medium well. You want it medium rare." So, okay, he agreed. I got the hippie-lover-patchouli wearing veggie burger (if you've seen the menu, you'll know the reference), all made in house. The menu claimed it would be the best veggie burger I ever had in my life. And dare I say it...they were right. It was incredible. The regular burger, also the best burger ever in our lives (sorry dad, your burgers have moved to the number two spot on my list). Plus, fries! Hand cut delicious fried goodness! The food is some of the worst that I have had in Jackson. I got the schnitzel and mashed potatoes. It was the equivalent of a Banquet Tv dinner. The mashed potatoes had 0 salt, butter, or flavor. Get a burger. some reviews didn't have great things about it but I loved mine. Why? Because it was different! Not fast food and not something you will see anywhere else. I really appreciated the disclaimers on the menu both about their burgers and the restaurant. It's definitely a local dive where regulars go to get smashed and have a good time, however I find that the cuisine is also quite above the average bar. And being In a tourist town like Jackson allows them to sport a higher price per dish, but honestly it's still not bad at all. Burgers are great if you have a taste for a better meat and something right from the grill. The menu literally says they don't use heat lamps at all as to give your food a speedy delivery from the grill and also time to allow it to cook even more. In my opinion the sandwiches are the best, but go try it out. I think you will enjoy it. Especially if you get to have that view of the mountains while you eat. read more

The Bird is a cool place that is trendy but also seems to give you a good Wyoming experience. There seemed to be a lot of locals there (i.e. people wearing cowboy hats), and it seems like it would be a good bar to go to for dinner and drinks after work. The wait staff structure is a little strange. You don't have one specific waiter the whole time, they just all switch off. It worked out ok but was a little confusing. Fantastic food, excellent variety of beer and the laid back approach to service you want in JH, WY. If you are looking for a fast meal or lean to the "picky" side go somewhere else. Their product is awesome but there are no airs about them. Dogs are welcome and the sunset from the deck is breathtaking. I can see why this is the locals place and I hope it stays that way. My only complaint, which is why I'm giving it three stars, is that I ordered a turkey Caesar salad the other day, and it was the most sad Caesar salad I've ever received. It was literally a plate of Romain lettuce with some turkey on top, basically no Parmesan cheese.my friends salad was much more robust. And my friends who ordered a brat seemed very happy. This is a zero star review. I've given the bird 3 or 4 tries over the past 15 years that I've lived here in Jackson and as much as I want to like the place (decent deck and views, attempted quirkiness and off the main drag allure) it's just basic at best. My most recent attempt to have my hunger satisfied there was a complete disaster. Our group of four walked through the totally empty indoor dining area to the back deck and sat at one of the several open tables among the three other seated tables. What transpired over the next 90 minutes is now legendary among our friends. I started reading the menu and got to the part that talks about how cool they are... from the menu "If you're a fun-sucker** and are uptight, unhappy, or demanding, you know, can't even have fun on vacation... maybe try somewhere that's more geared to your sort." I thought "ok, yeah this place is cool, I'm having great day riding my bike with my friends in the first warm sunshine after a long cold winter, the bird is gonna be great let's pick out some food and beer and have a great time!" That's when the first server arrived, we now refer to him as "bad cop". Our smiles and friendly manor were received by him as a taunt of some sort. As he stood there glaring at us he epitomized someone uptight, unhappy and yes, he was even demanding. I'm not sure if he was just a little peepee or, as we tried to reason later, he was on a hallucinogen. Either way makes sense and I don't care. Dude, maintain, or wait until after work to trip. "we don't have that beer" was his longest sentence over the next few very awkward minutes of him responding with silent RBFs. We were laughing 20 minutes later when "bad cop" brought 3 drinks to our table and the only we that we'd ordered was the one that he said they didn't have. He stood behind me a few feet, closer to the table behind us and yelled "iced tea!". We didn't order that so none of us reacted. Then he repeated it and said here's your drinks. He said the name of the one beer we'd ordered (I'd already decided what I wanted and had told him "I want nothing from you". Anyway he told our beer orderer "I made them tap a new keg, now they're mad at me" and he set it down and we didn't see bad cop again. Wow, thank you so much, local bar, for opening a container of beer to pour one for us, what an absolutely heroic deed. The guilt he attempted to foam the top of this beer with is truly icing on top. Red flags were popping up everywhere, some of our group was just too hungry and too nice to want to heed them. We got back to our light and fun convo. Over the following hour, tracking time now only to remember details of this truly bizarre experience, members of our group attempted to order the same food four times. Once from "good cop", a nice lady who seemed overwhelmed and like she was trying to plug six holes at a time in that sinking ship. She apologized profusely and assured us that things were now in order and our group's food was being cooked. Thirty minutes later we made three more attempts to order food with the star waiter of the day, "drunk cop". This guy was by far the drunkest person at the bird on that fine Sunday afternoon. He was pleasant enough for sure, but the leaning over us and repeatedly yelling the same thing over us in quite slurred speech didn't inspire more confidence in our group. He told us our food would be ready in 7 minutes. He came back in 10 and asked if we had ordered food. At this point I decided this must be some sort of psy-ops situation in which we were human experiments being observed to see how we'd react from the effects of hunger and the confusion of their "good cop, bad cop, drunk cop" routine. The folks in our group told him this time that if the food was on the grill then we'd wait for it, otherwise we were going to head out. He asslurred us that it was cooking and would be at our table any moment. Five minutes later I hear his booming voice behind me and across the deck "you guys are good!" That was it, we had failed the experiment. We were leaving. Drunk cop's "words" of how busy the kitchen was rang in our memories as we exited through the still completely empty dining room. Were we shaken? Yes. Still hungry? Even more so. But I felt a satisfaction that can only come from truly profound and honest knowledge gained. The Bird sucks, real bad; and now I'm certain of that and at peace with it. Heed this warning, there are so many good restaurants whose food is actually above average (the previous few times at the bird I did get food, it was bland, below average) and aren't trying so hard to be pretentious. We were at the Snake River Brew pub 20 minutes later with 4 beers and our apps already. When our waitress gave us our apps and asked if there was anything else we needed we all broke down sobbing, shaken once again that day, but this time it was the display of common courtesy and timely dining service we had been exposed to that brought us to our knees. read more

Generous ratio of guac to burger, SO GOOD. Messy, so none of that try to wipe your hands- just finish the burger! French dip was super flavorful too- too bad I only got a bite to try. We went to the bird on recommendation from the owner of Still Works down the street. It's a burger and wing bar, and they're good at what they do. Between the 6 of us, we had 3 burgers, 2 veggie burgers (all served on English muffin) and an order of wings. The meat burgers were thoroughly enjoyed, and it was great that they came in 4 or 9 oz options to avoid overeating/wasting food. I had the veggie burger and while it wasn't super flavorful, the texture was consistent and you could choose any topping assortment you want. I also had the house made chips that were stellar - light, crispy and not too greasy. I was also able to dip them in the ranch that came with the wings which I highly recommend. I can't handle spice so the medium wings were too spicy for me, but the sauce had a sweetness to it and the wings were cooked well. The tap list was pretty extensive. Was bummed to find they didn't have any ciders on tap, but it didn't come as a surprise. We had been in the sun all day so we sat inside, but there's a large patio overlooking the mountains that looked quite lovely and was beautiful at sunset. Where to start with this place... We regret not coming here both nights while staying in Jackson Hole. I had the medium buffalo wings (12 of them) and my girlfriend had a burger and fries (we shared). The food was so good! I was amazed on how flavorful everything was. My wings were pretty hot for being a medium level. I enjoyed the flavor though. The burger was juicy and packed plenty of flavor. It even came on a sourdough bun. The fries were soft and seasoned to perfection. If you like sour kraut, you must try it here! It's worth the few extra $$. The atmosphere was awesome! I loved the log cabin feel to it and all of the decor to top it off. The service was great as well. Thank you guys for the amazing experience! I will definitely be back to the bird! read more

Let me start out by saying that usually I never ever leave reviews, but I felt I had to with this place. First off the food was gross, especially for the price. I tried my daughter and my sons and both gross, plus they messed up on our order. We waited for an hour and 15 minutes to even get our food while we watched four other big tables who came in after us get their food before us!! We had a bunch of kids with us so maybe they were pissed because right when we came in they were snappy with us. Not friendly at all!! They didn't ask once if we wanted refills on our drinks. Please don't waste your money on this place. Customer service was horrible and the food is not worth the price. MUCH MUCH better places in Jackson than this dump. read more

Pretty fun atmosphere and steller views. From my understanding, this is another local recommendation, specifically for burgers. Small menu, but refined enough for large volume partys. The burgers are good and fairly standard except for the english muffins they use as buns. They also dont do a traditional mashed patty so you find yourself finishing your burg in record time. Or at least thats what it feels like. Smart on there behalf. Otherwise, drinks are well priced and they have a great rotating selection all on draft both local and big names from other states. We were turned onto this place by the bartender at another bar. It's several miles south of the main town center. We went because we were told they were having live music. This place is tucked way in the back...a little hard to locate as the sign for it is right on street leading you to think it is the front building, which it is not. The bar with music is the back building...so park away from the street/sign. There's a wide selection of draft beers on tap. Yep, live music...band was very good! Pretty busy too for a Wednesday night...no cover. I'd like to try this place again if I'm ever back in the area. read more

This place has an amazing deck to sit at if the weather is nice. They are regularly busy. The staff is great at handling large crowds and getting food orders out as soon as possible. They have the best burgers and any of them are amazing. You can get ice cold beers and drinks at a great price. They have some tvs and live bands some nights. They hold great parties like guides and gapers. Parking around here is sometimes hard but possible to get a spot. They bike path goes right by the front and they have a free shuttle home( tip the driver) so you don't get a dui. Overall great place and love hanging out here after a day on the river read more

We couldn't stop raving about the burgers here and wished we had more time to eat here again. Great burger options with different toppings. Loved the names they gave each burger too. They offer 4oz patties, which is plenty and 9oz for the hearty eaters. We also ordered wings. Delicious! I love spicy wings and ordered ours hot. They weren't kidding when they said not for the wimps. Hot had a serious kick, I was the only one who could eat them. We ordered just the glazed wings to go and they were delicious too. Great fries, salad was good too, decent beer selection. Service was great all around, from the bar to the waitress to our busser. The views on the deck are an added bonus.
