This is one of those places I tend to overlook these days, mostly because I don't live practically across the street anymore. Wish I did though (but probably better for my waistline)! The Blind Onion makes a mean slice of pizza! I have to admit, I pretty much exclusively order the Breath Buster, as it is by far my favorite, but you can hardly go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have an awesome Slice and Soda special, where you can get a massive slice and a beverage to go for less than $5 bucks. Makes for a really great lunch on the go, although you are somewhat at the mercy of whatever is in the hot case. Capacity inside is limited at the moment due to COVID (natch), but most of the time pizza is taken to go or delivered anyway, so unless you're coming for a beer with some friends, you're not missing much. Still, I'm very glad they have survived the apocalypse! I mean, I guess it makes sense: the Breath Buster is the perfect way to enforce social distancing, by keeping your friends at bay! read more

First time in Portland and was craving some pizza. It was the closest to my hotel so I excited to try this place out until I entered the restaurant. Once I walked in and made my way to the counter one of the workers with a white beard basically gave me a look up and down and said "are you picking up an order?" I said "no I want to place a order" He said " oh reallllyy ? * stares at the clock and back at me* hmmm okay i guess..." The tone of his voice was so unwelcoming and seemed like I was messing up with his closing time. I got there at 8pm and they close at 9pm. I was so uncomfortable that I didn't even look at the menu I just walked out. I want to give a lower ranking but I guess I can't. If you want some excellent pizza, then this is the place for you. We had the Chicken Parm, the Carnivore (all meat), and Pepperoni. The crust is so good and a great amount of toppings. Staff was decent, could have been a little friendlier, but they did seem to have a lot of call-in orders to manage. read more

I had wine onion. The food was amazing but recently I ordered the chicken and cheddar sandwich along with the garlic cheesy bread. Bread was good as always, however, the sandwich lacked almost any chicken at all. It looks like they use the scraps from the back of the kitchen to make my sandwich which disappointed me since the last time I ate there, my sandwich was loaded up with big pieces of chicken. The staff is very versatile and friendly and can accommodate anything you throw at them. The pizza is delicious! The toppings and crust really complement each other well. The crust is very unique and has more of a bready feel to it rather than "just pizza crust", if that makes sense. I recommend the full menu here. We went on a Tuesday or Thursday and we were told they had their pepperoni deal. A large pepperoni for only 10 dollars, I believe. A pretty good deal considering their large pizzas cost double that. We got that and another large veggie pizza. We had to wait around 30 to 35 mins for our pizzas to be ready. Long time for just pizza. They also weren't that busy. Anyway once it arrived, I took a look at the veggie pizza and it had raw tomatoes on it, which we thought was strange... I ordered a cooked pizza, not a salad. Pepperoni looked okay. Taste-wise they weren't impressive. They tasted kind of bland. Especially the veggie pizza. The crust was way too thick but it tasted good. I liked the knots. Unique touch. Wasn't a fan of the raw tomatoes on the veggie pizza. It got all soggy in there. The pepperoni probably tasted a bit better then the veggie. But again, the crust is way too thick and the toppings didn't impress me very much. Needs more flavor and oomph. Oh also, we ordered the garlic bread and I was expecting s baguette with garlic spread on it. What we got was 3 small slices of bread with a little garlic. Talk about generous. Blind Onion, despite its interesting history (written on their menu), is just not very good. Their pizza on the low side of average, not very flavorful, and is stupidly expensive. The best things we tasted were the bread sticks. Steer clear of the cheese bread. It is store-bought bread with a sprinkling of dry herbs and flavorless cheese. The only things pushing the rating higher than it otherwise would have been was the extraordinary friendliness and professionalism of the staff, and the immaculately clean interior. read more

This is the best of the chain franchise pizza venues. I had a 12" sausage and mushroom pizza for around $17 and it was good. What sets The Blind Onion apart from the other pizza chains is the crust. Not too thick or doughy or too thin. It has a unique buttery flavor and a braided edge which is cool. Not a traditional style crust but pretty delicious. Also ordered the cheese bread which is exactly what we received. The bread was either stale or very over-cooked to the point of it being inedible. We made our first "take-out" purchase of the COVID-19 era after 45 days of staying home, and 100% home cooking. We chose my wife's favorite, The Blind Onion in East Vancouver, as our celebration dinner. They've got "takeout only" rules in place. The staff making the pizzas appeared to be wearing masks and gloves in the kitchen, although the person who was greeting the public did not have a mask. I wore mine. Parking was easy, right in front of the door, and I don't know if they're staggering pickup times or not, it would make sense, but no one else was in there when I was picking up my order. What can you say about a Blind Onion pie? The marvelous crust, high-quality toppings, cooked to perfection. We asked them not to cut it, so it would be easier to get in/out of the 400°F oven for two or three minutes. That would cover any COVID-19 concerns and made it "oven fresh". I paid cash and left a tip, so the only thing I touched was the box. If you're missing pizza, the Blind Onion is our #1 choice. Try it and see if you don't agree. The Mill Plain location nearer to downtown is equally excellent in regard to the product. read more

Not impressed in the slightest. With MOD just around the corner A new pizza shop needs to be hot on their game, and this one is very very cold. Not to mention undercooked and soggy. We went in on a Sunday afternoon to get a slice of pizza and to our surprise there was only one other person in the entire restaurant. The workers seem disinterested when we came in, no music was playing, and there were three types of pizzas by the slice. Since it's a slice of pizza and a soda for a few dollars that's what I chose. This is my favorite pizza spot in Vancouver! If you like chewy dough (still cooked) but not crispy, then this is the spot. Not sure how, but the way they twist the crust gives you a nice crunch on top and pillowy dough in the center which is amazing! I'm a meat pizza fan, and the Carnivore has lots of different meats to satisfy. If you are a fan of garlic, the garlic chips are great! Best pizza in the northwest, bar none. The Fisher's Landing location is easy to find and very bright inside. It has room for birthday parties and some TVs so you can catch the game while you eat. The service is great. The crew there is casual but respectful. They treated my little children very kindly. Okay, okay, but let's talk about pizza... This stuff is cooked to perfection. I got The General and - wow - it is simply fantastic. Then General has layers of pepperoni, cross cut peppers, onions, olives and sausage. But describing the ingredients doesn't do it justice. The vegetables are cooked to the perfect tenderness, but still fresh and crispy. The sausage is savory and juicy. The cheese and pepperoni melt together. It's hard to find anything wrong with this pizza. And the crust is so good that they actually serve it with a side of honey. When you finish eating the topped portion, you dip the crust in honey and eat it for dessert! So for the price of a piece of pizza, you're getting a meal and a dessert. And both are delicious. The only problem with Blind Onion is that it's so good that you wonder if you ever enjoy pizza from anywhere else again. I would give 6 starts if I could! read more

I'm trying to be sympathetic due to Covid-19 but to charge almost 30 dollars for a half Hawaiian pizza and other half the general (normally supreme.) I get it home and hardly any toppings. This is insane if I wanted a cheese pizza would have ordered it and would be half the price. Hawaiian didn't have much pineapple but the general. Only few slices of pepperoni and salami but the vegetables? No mushrooms but two slices no olives but maybe a few for color? Three big chunks of green peppers for half a large pizza. Yet you still charge almost 30 dollars. I get supporting local business but come on for that amount I'm sorry it's not even pizza. Should have stuck with place down the street. I have been a Blind Onion fan since at least 1996. (Yeah, I am the crazy one who actually scheduled my classes at Clark so that I would get a break right at the time the location on Grand was opening for the day with fresh and hot slices, lol). This location was just as great as the others... my daughter and I had been volunteering at her soccer club and had an hour between that and actually having practice, and this is where she chose to eat. Pizza was just as good as it always has been at every location, the beer was cold and a good selection, the tables were cleared and cleaned promptly and the standard board games were ready to play while we waited. I did not totally get a great customer service vibe from the employees here, though. Not bad... just not excellent. Everyone has an off night now and then, though, so I will certainly be back for my favorite pizza! read more
