Went there on a rainy Sunday two weeks ago and sat in the outside bar area with an assortment of characters all jostling for first place in the "loudest voice" competition. Friendly enough bar girl at the makeshift bar who brought us a beer and a white wine in plastic cups. Reason for plastic being something about the local electric company PPL and its relationship to the lake! Note however that others sitting in the space were indulging with drinks contained in glass apparently from the bar inside. What the hell difference does it make where the drink came from, we are all still sitting outside!! Adding insult to injury, my wife's basic Sauvignon Blanc was 9 bucks with the amount poured not being enough to drown one of the many bugs flying around Hawley this time of year. If that wasn't a piss off enough, the before mentioned bar girl then goes to the group of loudmouths sitting beside us and refills their "glasses" almost to the point of spill over. What a joke. Obviously the family and friends promo at play here. As my wife's minuscule wine amount was evaporating due to the humidity, we watched our neighbors enjoy the fruits of the bar girl's labor. This is everything that is wrong with establishments that are more concerned about looking after fellow rotary club members and or family/friends and not giving a shit about others. Knowing that it would be a good year until we would be in this part of PA again, I really wanted to eat at the best restaurant in the area that we knew of. The Boat House is also the first place we ate at when we were bringing my daughter up to PA for sleepaway camp. Was I being sentimental? Maybe a little, but I was also very hungry and just wanted some great food. We got to The Boat House around 5:30, which was much earlier than the last time. This time around, we were given choices as to the area where we wanted to eat and if we preferred a table or a booth. We were seated right away and it didn't take very long to realize how much better and faster the service was. Our waitress immediately brought those delicious rolls and Banana Bread to our table. I had forgotten all about the Banana Bread so that was a very nice surprise, and she brought alot of it too. My husband decided on the Fish and Chips. Very fresh Cod lightly fryed in a nice batter - it actually fell apart when he cut into it, really delicious!! I decided to go with the land fare and chose the Chicken Piccata which was made in a delicate sauce. The capers weren't too overbearing which gave it a really nice flavor, I really enjoyed it. I can't rave about my little one's dish, the Chicken Tenders, but the portion was big and they were very good. We decided to skip the dessert since it was a long drive back to NY, so instead I asked for some more of that Banana Bread to go and it sufficed. As we were leaving, I noticed a group of kids gathered around a pole on the side of the restaurant. As we walked closer, I saw there was this long rope hanging from the pole with a big metal ring attached to the other end of the rope and a hook attached to the pole (see pics). More people started to walk over so now there was actually a line forming to try this stupid game. The object was to swing the rope towards the pole, trying to get the ring onto the hook. My husband was starting to get annoyed at this point except now there were only 2 people in front of me and I wasn't about to give up my friggin spot. Supposedly, you're only allowed 3 trys and I don't know if this is an actual rule of the game or this kid in back of me just wanted his turn. Makes me wonder since he kept reminding me of this rule. Anyway, I couldn't do it and it was time to go. I honestly think that it is impossible to win, but instead a strategic move by the restaurant. Have a time consuming game like this one, outside, and it will keep the customers mind off of how long a wait time there still is until a table is ready. It's always great to know about a restaurant you can go to where you know you're going to have a good time and enjoy the food. What's even greater is when this restaurant is located in another state that you'll be visiting again. The Boat House is my restaurant. I may not be back until next summer, but hopefully I can find that game somewhere else and start to build up my skill. Maybe next time I'll even see that kid again so I can remind him about HIS 3 trys and show him that it could really be done in only one. read more

We are from New York and found the boat house based on yelp reviews and it did not disappointed... Colleen our server was FANTASTIC!!! The food was incredible I wish I took more pictures the mussels and calamari were insane for apps... we had the French onion and seafood bisque soup both awesome but French onion for the win and king crab legs for dinner.... sooooooo fresh and best butter ever, thanks for an amazing dinner will definitely be back when we are in the area!!!! read more

We were referred here but don't know why. First, the waitress did not keep her nose covered nor did she try to. She also didn't know what the salad dressing was that she was serving. The jambalaya was dry, the salmon was subpar and the crab cakes tasted frozen and old and could not be eaten by two of us. I would not eat here again. We are renting a lake house in the area and I wanted a place to go to eat dinner outside and be able to socially distance. Nice location right off the water. You had to wear a mask inside to be seated which I was happy to see. We got there around 5:00 and got the last outdoor table. There are only 4 so I suggest getting there early! Overall, service was good and food was decent but a few mishaps. Calamari app was chewy and not the best quality. I ordered the Wally Roll and was not Impressed. Not seasoned and very little lobster or crab. More like a seafood salad. Also, when I ordered the waitress asked what side I would like. I said, "what are my choices." She listed fries, sweet potato fries, seasoned fries, macaroni or potato salad I think and onion rings. Hubby and I both selected onion rings. She didn't mention it is an additional $3 charge for that. Hubby didn't want to say anything, it isn't about the $ though it is the point. This should be mentioned. Our kids likes their specialty drink and food (chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks with fries.) Hubby had the fried chicken sandwich and liked it but said he couldn't taste the garlic aioli. Here on vacation for our first time, so we decided to splurge on a nice dinner on our last night. Walked in with no wait and got seated right away. The waitress was great, however the food needs help. My husband and I both ordered the sirloin with garlic parmesan fries, we decided to really splurge as a late anniversary dinner. My husbands steak was cooked to absolute perfection. I wish I could say the same for mine. My steak was overcooked and tasted like shoe leather. I was just going to leave it as I really dont like sending food back. But for the price we were paying, we had to. Well the 2nd steak came back completely RAW. At this point my husband and kids were both done eating (that's how long I waited) & for it to be raw was just unacceptable! The waitress was really great and the manager was more than helpful in taking it off the bill. But here I sat, after 2 wrong plates of food and an hour, i was just ready to go. Came here Memorial Day and everything was delicious. We had pork Potstickers for app and crab cake entree for meal. We ate at the bar as there was a 45 minute wait for a table. Live in bluffton and often take the boat to eat at skull creek marina . Delicious and beautiful spot on the water for dinner. They quoted a longer wait time, but they have a gift shop, pier, and bar to keep you occupied while you wait. Food was definitely worth waiting for. First, I have to admit what I had was absolutely delicious. The problem was the small portion. I got two take-out appetizers. The $12 "Eggplant Tower" was more like a Eggplant bungalow. And as paltry as all that was, they have the audacity to add 10% to all take-out orders. This place is very mediocre. I went with a very large group and while I know they don't do reservations, we did call ahead of time to "warn them" we'd be there, what time and how many to expect. First, we waited nearly 1.5 hours for a table. We were finally seated and waited for food service. It took close to 30 minutes to get the bread - it wouldn't have mattered as much, but we did have children with us who, at this point, were losing their patience. We had to ask for water multiple times (and had requested pitchers, which were finally brought out toward the end of the evening). My other half and I split ribs which were decent, but nothing to shout from the rooftops about. Around the table, we were hearing the same. Nothing was bad - but nothing was outstanding. The service was ok - but nothing outstanding. We will likely find a different place next year. Maybe somewhere that we can eat in less than 4.5 hours? Look, I'm sure this is a perfectly adequate place to eat if it's just one or two of you - but for a very large group (26), they just didn't seem at all prepared, despite our attempts to give them warning. read more

I went to the boathouse in January 2018 for a few drinks and to grab some food to go. I had a couple of draft beers and I thought their selection of drafts and bottled beers. The bar area was decently big which I thought was great. I got a salad to go and the salad was good still when I got home.
