We've been to several of the fish house locations around town and had good experiences so when this opened near our home, we were excited to give it a try. It was a huge letdown! Positives: good ambiance, nicely designed/decorated and service was good! Every employee I passed going in and out of the restaurant and bathroom smiled and said hello. The only people in our party of 6 who enjoyed their meal were the people who got the All You Can Eat shrimp. It was also the only thing reasonably priced at around $18. For the poor taste or lack of taste, the rest of the food was not even close to being worth the cost! Especially when you consider Julington Creek Fish CAMP is just up the road, tastes much better, and has much better prices! Won't be back for a while. read more

I like this little plaza that the restaurant is in, there are a lot of spots to stop in and enjoy; from Iggy's, to 2nd Bay Brewing, to Moon Dog. I had stopped in to test out 2nd Bay Brewing because I had never been there. After a few libations I wanted some food and was walking around the plaza to see what was available and happened upon Julington Creek Fish House & Oyster Company. I noticed that it stated grand opening, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I was seated right away even though I suspected it would be very busy for grand opening. Also, I did not have a reservation and was a walk up. I was able to sit outside, which I enjoy very much this time of year. I started with some raw oysters which were the Oysters of the week. These were good, but I feel overpriced. I do feel that the oysters were fresh and that is important to me; I've had oysters that were not fresh and it's not a pretty site. I asked the waitress what she would suggest and she said the fried oysters. I'm not well traveled when it comes to fried oysters but I'm also not going to back down from a suggestion. The fried oysters were good. Since I had worked out every day this week I splurged for the truffle fries and I feel those were the best thing I had on the plate. I didn't take a picture of it, but I did try a piece of key lime pie. That was a treat and I really did enjoy that. If you visit give that a try. All in all the place is good. I would definitely come back and try some of the other offerings, like some of the other yelpers have suggested. I feel the prices are a bit steep so keep that in mind. read more

The food here is amazing. Starting with blackened grouper bites which we so flavorful and cooked to perfection. My date had the appetizer Brussels and added a salmon Fillet as her main course and raves about the dish, especially the Brussels. I had the scallops and gnocchi in a pesto sauce. It was incredible. We had lunch here in a sunny and breezy Saturday and decided to dine outside in their spacious patio . The menu is extensive and they had a selection of fresh caught seafood with your choice of fried, grilled or blackened. I opted for the fried grouper with a side of fried rice and coleslaw. The fish was lightly breaded , perfectly fried and tender. The fried rice was well seasoned and paired well with the fish. For dessert, we had beignets which were their special for that week. We just ate dinner from Julington Creek Fish and Oyster Co. We've been looking forward to eating there because of the good reputation of this chain's other restaurants. We were sorely disappointed, however. I ordered the Honey Glazed King Salmon and my wife ordered the Seared Blue Fin Tuna. Both dinners were inedible. The fish tasted a few days old, and definitely not fresh. We both stopped eating after a bites and threw it away. Very disappointing - especially since this was my wife's birthday dinner. We've now visited this place a few times now and have typically had a good experience. The place is always very busy in the evenings so it's always a good idea to have a reservation well in advance. The staff is nice and helpful and the food tastes great. They even have a good list of specialty cocktails that we've enjoyed on the patio. The wait time for food/drinks has been a little hit or miss but that's also due to the busy factor. All in all, we will continue coming here for a nice treat but have to remember the reservation needs to be considered a week or so beforehand. read more

Sat down for lunch on Sunday and ordered the hush puppies appetizer because my husband and I wanted to try them. They were kinda burnt and we ate only 2 out of the 5. The server was nice but offered to make us more and hoping they are fresh but we decided that we were done with them and he took the remaining 3 with him. Also there were multiple tables around us that sat after us but got their food before us. Mine came with pimento cheese grits but they were not ready yet so I waited for them...no big deal but the table next to us received their multiple plates of grits and when mine came, I asked them to box it because I was done with my meal by then. I think a manager came by (had on a polo) and asked how things were but literally left before I could say anything. The server left the hush puppies on the bill, and we paid because my husband doesn't like to be that way. I also heard our server apologize to the next table and I heard them say they had been there for an hour and had not gotten their food. Sure enough, it was 40 minutes in before we got apps and then it was 60 minutes before our meals came out. It was lunch time but they did not seem too busy. I wanted to try this place because we always go to Julington Creek Fish Camp but I doubt I would go back. Just need help with timing of the food and customer service. read more

So I will start by saying because of our large party (12) we did make reservations ahead of time. We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservations and they were extremely busy, spoke to the hostess and let her know we're there. To my surprise she was immediately ready to seat us. The food - we ordered eight appetizers for the table to include royal red shrimp cocktail, spicy peal and eat shrimp, fried alligator tail, fried okra, and steamed oysters on the half shell. All were very good. The entires several people ordered the spicy seafood linguine (the scallops were amazing in it), multiple fried dinners of fish, clams and shrimp. Every thing came out quickly and fresh. The booze - they have a nice selection of wines and cocktails. Along with a moderate selection of beers (draft, can, bottle). Highly recommended the oysters & the snapper. The bad: the menu has no real gluten free options so you have to wing it on your own. I ordered the shrimp & grits. It came out 20 minutes after everything else we ordered. When it finally came out after the GM had to check on it, it was not appetizing at all. 10/10 do not recommend it. The cream based sauce they pour over the top drowns the grits into almost a soup and completely overwhelms the dish. Im grateful the GM handles everything beautifully and took the shrimp & grits off the bill because it took so long for it to come out. I would've been sad to pay $25 for that sloppy mess. We attended the opening of this new restaurant tonight. WOW!!! Nothing but good things to say. My wife, son and I had everything from gator tail to bluefin Toro. The o-toro bites were AMAZING. We also had a few kinds of oysters, all of which were great. Our waitress (Melissa) was awesome and recommended we try the bluefin truffle, and boy was she right.
