It was a long time coming. I missed going to the butcher, a fish market or a bakery whose aim is to specialize in one thing and one thing only. It was a pleasure to order at Fisherman's Dock to get some fish for my wife birthday party. I preordered my Tilapia. The size of my fish and price of the fish was nothing but a bargain. Sometimes the area where fish is sold in a supermarket does not compare to fishermans Dock. Fresh fish and a wventdul time at wifey party. I will come back for some whitings and more. Great selection of fresh fish. Also the most amazing home made crab cakes you could ask for. They sell out quickly so get there early for these or you can give them your name and number and they will call you the next day when they get new ones in. You walk in and it smells like a typical fish store lol. They have scallops, mussels, crab legs, whole fish, filet of fish, octopus, and anything else I am missing from the ocean and they have some lade fish and catfish too. If you want something specific I would highly recommend calling them first as they variety changes due to what is fresh. If you get the fish filet I would highly recommend that you ask them and verify that they bones are removed and there are no scales. I had brought home 2 pieces of Grouper filet one time and the scales were still on it. I brought it back the next day and they gave me 2 new pieces of fish (I got halibut instead as the grouper had me grossed at the time) read more

The best place to buy fresh seafood! My favorite are the HUGE scallops. Literally the best I've ever had. I think it was about $17 for 6 giant scallops. I also picked up some salmon and cod. I was excited to cook with all my purchases, and everything was awesome. There were no bones in the fish either. The man that checked me out was very friendly and signed me up for their rewards program. He packed everything up with ice for me. The building doesn't look like much on the outside, but they do have a small parking lot. Inside they have a great selection of fresh seafood. I eat a lot of fish & I usually purchase my fish at a seafood market toward St. Augustine as it's just more convenient for me but yesterday I was over shopping on San Jose & decided to stop in at Fisherman's Dock. They had many varieties of fish that were fillets. They also had a section of whole fish like red drum and snapper. I ended up purchasing g a few lbs. of our local Mayport shrimp. They had lots of counter help & the line went quickly as they were super busy. The prices were excellent on the shrimp & other seafood. The only negative is the fishy smell but all seafood markets have it as it's unavoidable. I cooked the shrimp last night and they were delicious. read more

When we don't have the time to drive out to Mayport, this is our go-to market. Only four stars for a recent so-so shrimp purchase, but I should have known better as they were previously frozen... Anyway, this afternoon our twenty year old son picked up a few things for my in-law's 60th anniversary and while he didn't get a picture of the entire feast, the seafood was a huge hit! The blue crab were probably the best I've had and as fresh as you can get. The lobster and clams made for a happy pair of lovebirds to reminisce a lifetime of adventures. My go-to seafood market place when buying fresh seafood in Jacksonville. Small building, but they carry just about everything. Great selection of fresh seafood from shrimps, large lobsters, live blue crabs, small and large scallops, clams, mussels, squids.. the list goes on. I normally buy their Mayport Shrimps with the head on (don't judge lol). I also get their catfish, whole and/or fillets (great for frying). Everything here is always fresh and iced, never frozen, in exception to some such as their Dungeness Crab legs, Clams, etc.   Fast, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. I never had one bad experience of all the times I have gone here.   Just a little note, this place can get busy on certain days and times. The parking lot is pretty small and can be hard to find parking they are busy. Also, this is a seafood market not a floral shop, so don't expect to walk in thinking you will smell fresh roses. I've been coming here for 5 years to buy fresh shrimp and they've ALWAYS peeled them as a courtesy, even when on sale and when they had more expensive, larger shrimp in stock. Today, they decided that they would only peel their largest, most expensive shrimp. Seriously, at my age and with some arthritis in my hands, peeling shrimp is not something I'm able to do. This was a really dumb move that lost them a customer and earned them this review. Stopped in to pick up some bounty from the sea. The quality and freshness was great and the selection was outstanding! Maine lobster, Florida lobster tail, snapper, cod ,trigger fish, mahi, oysters, clams, you name it they have it. I selected a few pounds of steamers and a large fillet of red snapper. The knowledgeable young salesperson recommended an delicious marinade and packaged my seafood in plastic bags with ice wrapped in newspaper. Drove home and two hours later everything was still icy cold. The steamers were superb and had little sand. Better than those I use to eat in New England years ago. Tonight's snapper melted in the mouth and the marinade was perfect. I strongly recommend the Fisherman's Dock. read more

FRESH- SO FRESH. It smells like the ocean. Shrimp, lobster, GATOR (still not bold enough to try this though), crab, oysters, scallops, and of course fresh fish. If it's in season they have it! And if it's not they can find it. Just give them your contact information and they will call you whenever it comes in. Yeah you can always get everything frozen, but nothing beats good fresh seafood. Paid about $28 for 3 pounds of shrimp. We went right home and cooked it for peel and eat. When rinsing it off I realized it wasn't as fresh as I though it would be based on the reviews on Yelp. The shrimp were horrible. I've lived on the Florida coast for over 20 years and know how great shrimp right out of the ocean can be. I hate to say it but the previously frozen shrimp at Publix are 100% better. The sale price at Publix is cheaper, they are already deveined, and are consistent in quality. We ate about a pound of the shrimp and threw the rest out. It was that bad and I can't remember ever throwing out shrimp at any point in my life. I was really looking for a go to seafood market but I'm going to have to keep looking. They did have great customer service and there were a few loyal customers they knew by name buying seafood while I was there. This may have just been some shrimp that just sat there to long but the shrimp were so bad I'm not going back for a while, if ever. read more

I've used this location for many years. Yesterday, I ordered trout, salmon, and sea scallops for a dinner party, and when we began prepping the next day, there were no scallops. The bag they put everything into makes seeing your purchase next to impossible because of the way it's packaged, and we've never had a problem with these folks before. Someone got distracted, took our money, and left the expensive part of our order out. Not very happy, and I'm hoping they can replace the missing items. read more

This is the only place my DH and I go to for seafood. Everything here is fresh and reasonably priced. They have a wide variety of fresh seafood...different types of shrimp, clams, fish, squid, etc. Occasionally they sell gator meat. Fantastic fish store. Not only does it have the greatest fish and shellfish of every description, it also has a whole bunch of different kinds of bottled spices and condiments for the seafood. There are some really big fish for sale in this store! The store appears to be as good as Safe Harbour Seafood in Mayport and we recommend true seafood lovers give it a try. Went in to get some salmon and the lady who helped me had gloves on as she reached into the cold area to get my salmon. I asked for just under a pound, and it came up a little over and I asked for a smaller piece and she rolled her eyes and seemed annoyed. She put the salmon back . This whole time she was wearing gloves and she touched several surfaces thus cross contamination. She gave it to me weighing it and then wrapping it up and then I paid for it the whole time wearing the same gloves and now touching many other surfaces. They need to review their food handling manual about cross contamination. I asked to speak to the manager but they were not around. The salmon was very good, I over cooked it to make sure everything was dead as far as organisms. read more

Went to Fishermans dock today and got some awesome salmon. I love shopping here, but today I felt very unsafe. Three of the four people behind the counter were not wearing masks or wearing them incorrectly. One young woman said she was wearing it below her nose so she could breathe and refused to speak to me after I told her that this did not protect the public or herself. Two young men were behind the counter serving, and had no mask on whatsoever. When I asked the only worker that had her mask on appropriately why the others did not have masks on she said it was very difficult to get them to wear their mask. No supervisor or manager was anywhere in sight. Please, we love shopping there but we want to be safe. How can you insist that your customers wear masks when your employees do not follow your rules. A number of customers also came in without mask and no one said anything. Please do not make us choose between safety and awesome fish. Safety trumps product and hence my one star designation for this visit. Please we're masks!! read more
