First review in yelp because I've never felt the need to acknowledge a restaurant as much as I do now. I came in a couple days ago with family for a night out. Food and service was amazing, our server I believe was a gentleman named Brandon. His service was amazing, not only was he nice and friendly he was very attentive and fast, knew the menu and helped us navigate since it was our first time. What was the cherry on top for me and my family was his Spanish communication. My family and myself speak Spanish and he was able to switch languages with such ease. We were excited that The Boiling Crab was opening a location in Brea and finally had a chance to try yesterday; however we were disappointed for various reasons. I'll break it down into 2 categories that I was dissatisfied with, it was 1. Service and 2. Food quality, 1. Service: I think employees need retraining there. What may seem common sense, appears not to be so much more these days. We had a party of four and when we asked for crab cracker they brought only one. When we asked for gloves, they only brought one pair. You would think common sense would to bring a pair for the entire table or ask if everyone wants one. Secondly, waiters don't come around often. When they do, you get service like the above. Fairly nonchalant. Trust me I don't like waiters that come by too often because it gets annoying, but when you do please act like you care especially when customers are asking for things. Third of all, when we ordered we asked the waitress how many lbs each Dungeness Crab weighed so we can get a rough idea on pricing. She said each crab is about 1 to 1.3 lbs. So rather than ordering one we ordered two. When we got our bill, we saw that each crab was double the weight that the waitress indicated and we ended up getting about 5 lbs of crabs. Crabs alone was $150 and all of which we were unable to finish bc we ordered based on what the waitress had told us. As a result over-ordered. 2. Food quality. The mixed boil we got in picture included shrimp, claims, corn, sausage, and potato. The shrimp that has head on was mushy. I later googled to find out why shrimp meat can turn mushy. Apparently, this could happen if there are poor thawing techniques or stale/poor quality shrimps. This being a seafood restaurant , that's quite concerning if it was either of the two. It was quite disgusting and was concerned I could get sick after this meal. Then, the corn was pure mush too. I'm just assuming that may be from overcooking but not even sure it barely had any texture left in it. As for seasoning, I wasn't impressed by it at all. Quite frankly, I prefer Fiery Crab over this place. Our bill for party of 4 came out just shy of $300 before tip. With tip that's about $80 person. Do I think for the experience and food quality for $80 per person was worth it? HECK NO! Personally, think there are many better tasting seafood boils in this area that have better food quality food, price, and most importantly better SERVICE! read more

I went here since I'm so close to it but I will just keep going further to either Rowland heights or garden grove. The shrimp I got here came in a Bag with almost no sauce . Literally dry . I've never had this issue . I asked for more and was told it's sold in a cup , which is dumb since I never have gotten no dry ass shrimp from boiling crab. Almost like Popeyes biscuit type dry. I will keep driving to further locations to get for what I pay for. Also saw another customer on here complaining about this same issue , management should really start reading feedback from customers since the restaurant is so new and maybe they can fix these issues, not sure if they're trying to save money but you will loose more if people start avoiding because of this. read more

Came here with my girlfriend to come eat, it was insanely good. The service here was super amazing especially Mariah she was very sweet, very kind, very helpful and was very on it with her service. The food was mighty tasty, per usual! I haven't had Boiling Crab in a while so it was definitely a treat. We got the whole sha-bang with shrimp, king crab, crawfish, corn and potatoes. The catfish basket is a must. Onion rings were really good too. I like to dip both in the sha-bang sauce for extra flavor. The service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. Amazing food as always. We got the whole shebang on our shrimp, crawfish and king crab legs. The potatoes and corn were cooked perfectly and is a must-have when ordering. The basket of fries and catfish were perfectly cooked and came out hot. The servers were extremely attentive, very helpful with recommending food and would come by every so often to check on us. My family loves boiling crab. We've had it since it opened in Garden Grove. They opened in Rowland Heights so we went to Rowland Heights location since it was closer. The quality of Rowland Heights location was going down. It was not as fresh as before and we found out the location in Brea opened about a month ago and decided to try hoping the quality is better since it just opened. However, I feel like the boiling crab is a downfall. We ordered king crab legs and shrimp but quality wasn't so good. Half of the king crab legs were empty inside and some of them looked like it went bad. Out of 2 orders (2 bags) we only got to eat 0.5 bag. It was $90 per pound and was very disappointing. Shrimp as well, freshness was something we could not find. They even got our order wrong. Ordered 3 corns but eggs came in. I don't know how corns and eggs sound similar but we just decided to eat it. It was pretty a disappointing experience. read more

Went last night for dinner and food and service was fantastic. We had to wait about 45min to be seated because Saturday night but they were quick to seat once called and the food came out quick too once ordered. I'm not 100% on the spelling but Cienna was our waitress and was awesome and quick getting our order in and making sure we got everything we asked for. I think the only improvement could be maybe having some seating outside for the people waiting to be called. read more

I came to Boiling Crab Brea for my birthday dinner with a group of friends, and unfortunately our experience started off very rough. The wait to be seated was actually pretty quick, which we appreciated. However, once we were seated and assigned a server, laylani , things went downhill. We waited over 40 minutes before anyone even asked us what we wanted to drink. After placing our drink and food order, we still didn't receive water and had to get another employee's attention. By that point, we had already been waiting a very long time. What made the situation even more frustrating was finding out that our order had never been entered into the system before our server went on break. No replacement server had been assigned to us, leaving our table sitting there for well over an hour without drinks, water, or food being prepared. Thankfully, Cheyenne stepped in and absolutely saved the evening. She quickly got us our drinks, made sure our order was submitted, and provided attentive service for the remainder of our visit. Don, the front-of-house manager, was also amazing and worked hard to expedite our order and make things right. Robert was equally attentive and made sure we had everything we needed once our food arrived. Although it was disappointing to spend such a large portion of my birthday dinner waiting due to an avoidable mistake, I genuinely appreciate the efforts of Cheyenne, Don, and Robert for turning things around. Their customer service is the reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1. They truly redeemed what could have been a completely ruined birthday celebration. read more

This was my first time at Boiling Crab and it was a very wonderful experience! We got sat right away and our server Amy was amazing! It was mine and my family's first time trying boiling crab this past Saturday 6/13 and I think its safe to say well be visiting the restaurant A LOT more. The vibes were super unique and had such a warm welcoming atmosphere. Our biggest concern was about ordering as we have never been to a seafood boil, but our AMAZING server, Konner, was super helpful in educating us about the menu and giving us the best recommendations.
