Finger licking deliciousness !!! We went here based on a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. The order took about 20 mins and an additional 10 mins for lineup ( socially distant ). We tried : 1 lb shrimp - 10/10 !!! 1 order of crab legs - 7/10, too much effort for the meat, probably not ordering this again Lemon pepper fries - 10/10 Cajun fries - 8/10 Calamari - 9/10 They had a great socially distant way of ordering in person. Everyone was wearing a mask and gloves and they doible checked your order before you left with it. I also appreciated the table cloth they gave which was useful for the mess afterwards. We will definitely be ordering regularly from here ! read more

Been coming here for a while, never bothered leaving a review because other people have taken care of it. Wait here can be LONG - talkin 2 hours+ anytime on the weekend. We came around 11:30 am on a Sunday and had to wait about an hour or so (6th in line). Mains: pretty much skip all the seafood except shrimp. Whole shebang is a must. Sides: sausage is alright, pairs well with rice but otherwise can get salty real quick. Corn (ask for it in a bag of butter) is great. Cajun fries are better than their lemon pepper fries. If you don't want to wait in line, you can opt for take out (takes about 20-30 mins). They give you a tablemat with your food so you can take it home, load up something on Netflix, and finish eating before someone waiting at the restaurant even sits down! (disclaimer: your food might end up slightly softer because of the extended time it's steaming in the bag, so open up your french fry box/untie your seafood bag during your drive) read more

Came back here after a while and totally disappointed. It is Overrated. The sauce-shabang tasted super salty. I ordered mild but came out really spicy as well. All i could taste from my order was salty and spicy, thats it. I will never come here again, will stick to my favorite Claw shack. read more

Never really have had a bad experience here but tonight was annoying.. please have your waiters write down what we're ordering. I understand some may have years of experience as a waiter but they really messed up 3x on our order bc nothing was written down. I never get disappointed with them. My 3 years old son loves it. He eats 1 pound shrimp with sha bang sauce. They are always so busy so it is good to order food before you get there. We tried both locations one in LA and One in Bay Area it was great both times. We will definitely go back there for more sea food. We waited 2 hours to eat, which it's normal for Boiling Crab, however, once we were seated we experienced the worst customer service ever. Our waiter, Hanson only took our order, brought it and never came back. We had to bother other waivers to get refills, and ask about other stuff we had ordered that we got once we were almost done eating. Every waiter seemed to be doing what they were supposed, except Hanson. read more

Saucy, flavorful, but the phone lines are impossible! Pros: + Organized COVID pick up/ordering process inside the store + Order is reviewed with you upon pick up. I REALLY LIKE THIS! Cons: - Keep calling until you get through. Pray to the food gods or else you won't have BC tonight. - Not generous enough with sauce in the bag - So far away! Advice: Phone in your order so you don't have to sit and wait 30+ minutes in the parking lot. What I Ordered: + 1lb shrimp, whole shabang: 5/5 We ended up here because we couldn't get through the phone line for the Curtner location. I probably would not do the drive again since this branch is just too far out in East San Jose. Food is good but not 30 minutes of drive time good. Terrible experience. This was my first time here and i wanted to have crab as it been years since Ive had the chance to enjoy any. There were out of Blue crab which was a bummer so I decided on the Dungeness. There was very little meat and on top of that the Shebang sauce which I chose due to popularity was overpowering and out of place and completely ruined the dish for me. I ended up taking 3 bites and saving the rest to give away. What a waste of money. On top of that, I got the flu the very next day which is weird as I haven't had the flu since I was a child. I wasn't around anyone else except in the restaurant which was very busy that day so I cant think of anywhere else I would've gotten it from. Completely devastating. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. The wait sucks sometimes. I think the longest we've waited was over an hour but if you come during off times, you won't have that problem. The food is AMAZING. Be prepared to get messy. They serve everything seasoned in bags and you have to eat with your hands off the table. Probably not everyone's cup of tea. I get the whole shabang, spicy. Crab, shrimp, oysters, fries. Everything is delicious. They used to give a lot more sauce. Now you have to pay extra for it. Worth every penny. read more

Came here some time back with my family as I live pretty close to here and my family loves seafood. One thing to note about this place is that there is pretty much always a line so be prepared to wait some time before being seated. Once we were seated we were given bibs to ensure a clean meal! Once we were finally seated we ended up ordering: * shrimp with the whole shabang sauce at mild spicy (I'm Indian but my fam can't handle too much spice lol) and boy was this delicious... this is pretty much why I would come back here again - for the flavor that each bag of shrimp brings. *cajun fries - these were crispy and yummy and were a good side with the shrimp we ordered! Overall a really good place to go to when you are craving a messy but delicious meal. read more

Excellent seafood, delicious seasoning, and quick service. The prices are fair, and updated regularly. They had plenty of staff when I went, so no delays in service. The fried seafood was high quality, as was the boiled seafood. We tried the snow crab legs, shrimp, mussels, oysters, and soft shell crab. All worth trying. They are very efficient with cleanup, a table can be cleared and re-seated within a minute. Would absolutely go again. read more

Unsure if it was just my batch or my tastebuds have changed since I've been here. We ordered a pound of the whole Shabang shrimp, rice, and lemon pepper fries. Fries- 4 stars. Salty, crispy, lemony goodness Shrimp- smaller sized, barely any sauce in the bag, and what was in the bag was extremely salty (more than I recall it to be). Service was good. Nothing over the top. Just right. Also, the place has gotten much more crowded and messy. Probably the last time I'll be coming to this location. read more

I have been there multiple times before, and I just recently just went. Definitely now they have the yelp waitlist vs before it was sign up by hand. so definitely use it when it's available, it is turned in depending on time. If you end up turning up and have to wait. There is a number of boba shops near by and a target to peruse around at in the meanwhile. I ordered: 1 lb shrimp mild whole Shabang: sometimes the shrimp might be a bit harder but when majority of the time the shrimp is the right level of cooked like how I had it recently. The sauce is great and they give good amount of garlic which I enjoy. Order of Cajun fries to share: the spices are great 1/2 sausage whole shabang: not the best sausage ever but it has the sauce. It's nice to order this as sometime to alternate between if you're like me and you get tired of pealing shrimp sometimes and just want something with low effort to eat in between. Didn't order it this time but corn is always a great way to go. It sucks up all the sauce so it's very flavorful. But sometimes you may want to start the corn outside the bag so you have more sauce for your shrimp initially, and toward the end you can put the corn into the bag. I also enjoy mixing the lemon with the salt/ pepper, it's a great dipping sauce for the already shabang sauced up shrimp. I've been coming back and I'll continue swing through again in the future when I get the cravings and have a chance to go! read more

I can't believe it took me this long to try The Boiling Crab but oh my god it's so good. The wait is an hour+ around dinner time but there's Yelp waitlist so make sure you put your name down in advance! We ordered the crab fries, a pound of shrimp, and a pound of the king crab legs, all with "the whole shabang" seasoning - which is a mix of garlic sauce, lemon pepper, and cajun. It is soooooo good, especially on top of rice. This place is definitely a good place to choose if you're starving, because you can let loose & eat like a maniac without being judged lol (with a bib and your bare hands :p). The flavor is on point here. It is definitely on the pricier side if you decide to order the items that are offered at market price, but the seafood is fresh and I think it's well worth it. Definitely gonna make this place a regular spot for when I get those seafood cravings. read more

The customer service is literally amazing!!!! We initially went to the curtner location since it's closer to home but we're being ignored by the hostess and the line was out of the door just cause she wasn't taking any names. I'm so disappointed in Boiling Crab & how much of a rip off it is now. I haven't been in maybe a year & give it to them the sauce flavor is is good, that's the only reason for 2 stars. But I just called in the same order I always order enough to feed my family of 4. I just came to pick it up and I got 4 extremely small snow crab legs for $48 per order. I asked for extra sauce & it wasn't even enough sauce to cover the sausages at the bottom of the bag or a quarter of the crab. I had already had most of my order & it wasn't enough to feed my family so had no choice but to order more & they told me 30mins for an additional 3-4 snow crab legs (I even said it can come without sauce) So even though I knew the rest of my food would be cold while waiting I still still waited the 48mins. We purchase & eat crab often, so I'll just have to stop being lazy & make it myself. read more

Always excellent Louisiana style shrimp, crawfish and crab, Whole sha-bang medium spicy and throw in the corn, sausages and chase it down with some cold beer. Sure you eat with your hands but Emmm emmm good. Other places tries to copy this place but no one can make it better than Boiling Crab. All of my important guests from out of the country or states, this is my "go-to" place. Highly recommend this place. read more

It's been waaay too Long since I've been here and had a taste of BoiLing Crab. Oh how I've missed you.... The [guaranteed] super Long wait had deterred me from stopping by since there are sooo many other pLaces in San Jose to satisfy my crawfish cravings. We randomLy stopped by on a weekday @ around 830pm or so and stiLL had to wait about 15/20 minutes. [BC Lovers are diehard fans at aLL hours of the day!!!] In order to avoid the minimum 45 min- hour [pLus] wait, be sure to come right during opening or just a bit shy from cLosing. We Lucked out with tonight's visit- for the first time EVER!!! BC had aLL the items on the menu avaiLabLe. SCORE!! 10/10 times that I've been here, they aLways said they were "out" of bLue crabs. Our party of two ordered: 2LBs of Crawfish 1LB of Shrimp 2LBs of BLue Crabs Cajun Fries [medium] 2 Corn Customer service from the feLLas who were on duty was Legit. They were very attentive and poLite. Why the 4 stars and not a 5?? The texture of the shrimp was kind of a Letdown- the shrimps were more mush than crisp and the skin was sooo thin it made it hard to peeL. Came here on a busy thursday night. We had to wait 15 minutes but it was worth it. Finally got to try their crab fries and it was so good. The lemon pepper added a great touch to it. I had to order another one. The whole shabang has nice seasoning as well. Our waiter was super nice, she kept checking in on us and asked how things were. Definitely going to become a regular here. Used to be good, but I went today and it was horrible. The seafood is just not fresh. Horribly unfresh shrimp. Tasted like dirt or soil. Horribly unfresh king crab leg. The shell was soft and the meat just fell apart like powder and had a smell to it. Gumbo also came cold so I had to send it back. The wait staff was also very poor. They did not give us gloves and we were eating with our bare hands the whole time. No crab crackers we offered. We ordered the whole shabang but they gave us something else and did not bother to investigate. We are never coming back here. read more

I was seated right away, and I was helped by Allison, who was also tending bar. She was a very nice lady, and she took very good care of me. The restaurant has. A nautical theme to it. I decided to go with the Cajun chowder, and the softshell crab po' boy. . My food comes quickly, and the order was huge! It was a very good, rich chowder, with just a tiny bit of a "zip" from the Cajun spices. They definitely gave it a good flavor. There were lots of goodies inside. The one thing about the chowder, was they didn't take out the bay leaves, and I did get a couple.. I just put them off to the side. I'm not going to take off a star, because the chowder was so good. Hey, It happens.... The po' boy was huge! The softshell crab was not over breaded. I could taste the crab with no problem, and it was a little bit sweet, a little bit savory, with that wonderful "crabby" flavor. The roll was a soft roll, , but it still held up to the sandwich extremely well The lettuce, and tomato were crisp and fresh . The Cajun fries, had a little bit of a zip to them, but not too much. they came with ketchup, and their house Cajun sauce. I didn't even touch the ketchup. The sandwich already had some Cajun sauce on it, I put a little bit more. The rest, I used to dip the fries. I only made it halfway through the sandwich, and the fries. The rest came back to my room with me for another great meal. I also got another little "tub" of that sauce to take with me. The entire time, Alison was so personable, , we chatted a little bit about this and that... She is definitely an asset to that restaurant. (Tell her boss to give her a raise...:). I found this to be much better in presentation. Everything was so delicious. The captain Loui sauce was so flavorful and sweet. The shrimp were plump and juicy. Garlic noodles were tasty. A couple of saucy yummy corn and potato were found in the bowl which was a good surprise. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Cap't Loui. The staff were friendly and accommodating. For a restaurant that specifically recommends family style dining, the courses should be paced more appropriately so the table isn't sitting around waiting for the next round of food. The birthday cake situation was also frustrating. We had given our cake to the hostess when we arrived, but I guess our server was never notified of that. When I asked about a candle, she said she would bring it out with the birthday dessert, but brought out the restaurant's dessert instead. When she realized we had our own cake, she immediately took the bill back and said she needed to add the cake fee. The issue with that was we weren't asking them to cut or plate the cake. We just wanted to sing Happy Birthday, then have it boxed back up. She had assumed we wanted the cake service without actually asking us, and when we clarified, her response was, "Well, that's why I asked earlier," even though she hadn't actually asked us. The food wasn't terrible and the drinks were great, the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, but spending around $900, which included a 20% automatic gratuity, you'd expect the service to match the price point, even though service should always be good regardless. Unfortunately, the poor service really overshadowed what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my friend and left all of us with a bad taste in our mouths.
