I always love cajun food: cajun shrimp, cajun fries, cajun crawfish, you name it. This location is a little smaller than others so definitely get here at least 30 min early before opening to avoid a long wait. My boyfriend and I arrived maybe 5 minutes before opening and we already had to wait about 45 minutes before getting seated. The bright side is after putting your name down, you'll be placed in an online waiting list that will prompt you when to come back before your table is ready. We killed some time just walking around the Target next door. My usual order is the 1 lb shrimp whole sha-bang in medium. This time, I added the hot link ($6 add on). It was good but I probably wouldn't get it again. We also ordered the fried catfish basket with cajun fries (medium spice) as a substitute. THIS was sooooo good. The catfish pieces were very generous and I would DEFINITELY reorder this again. Only thing I don't like is how they don't provide gloves anymore! Not sure when Boiling Crab stopped doing this and I totally get why - to be more sustainable. They do provide wet wipes after to make up for it. I never got to eat here prior to the pandemic and after tonight, I kinda wish I had just to experience it. I was afraid of this place being overhyped because almost everyone I knew from college sang this place's high praises to the heavens. I'm glad to say that this was one of the few times I was pleasantly surprised. Out of all the places I've eaten at since quarantine began, I think Boiling Crab has handled it far better than just about anywhere else. As far as the food itself was concerned, I ordered the Shabang Bang Shrimp which was more flavorful and spicy than I imagined it would be, especially for takeout. I was also given a much more generous amount of shrimp than I would expect from any restaurant. They didn't lowball me even if the photo I attach to this review might look like it (a lot of it was buried under the rice). But of more importance to me was the impeccable customer service. Shoutout to the workers at this specific branch. You all did wonderful work tonight, and presumably every day especially during these times. They told me the wait for my takeout would be 30 minutes but they had my entire order for my family done within 10. Not only that but when when I came to pickup my food, they made sure to physically review my order to make sure nothing was missing. This was my most important takeaway from this experience. I found them going out of their way to ensure my order was perfect to be professional and the type of white glove customer service that only those who go above and beyond can provide. Even better, the short wait did not mean lesser quality. My family was extremely happy with our food and I will happily drive down to this Boiling Crab all the way from the out of the way remote wasteland that is Antioch to experience this again. We really enjoyed the seafood bag. It comes mixed in a bag, you choose the seafood, sauce, spice level, and any extras. We got 1 lb crawfish, 1 lb mussels, 1 lb king crab legs, and extra sausage, in the whole shabang sauce in medium spicy. You have to get a side of rice to catch all the delectable drippings. We also sampled their gumbo and lemon pepper fries, which were decent and surprisingly good, respectively. We try to steer clear of the extra greasy sides because the seafood bag is already a lot, but in the best way! They provide plastic bibs, gloves, napkins and extra lemon slices. The bathrooms are clean, too. We really appreciated that our server informed us of the market price of Dungeness crab before we got it, glad to see this kind of sincerity. When we arrived there was a bunch of orders ready to go on the table already and we were able to pay right away. We had to ask to get a wax paper to bring home with us and it ended up being pretty small and didn't even cover a normal table for 2 so Id recommend asking for 2 pieces! The food was just warm so I'd prefer if they didn't pack my food until I got there if I had a choice as well, ended up microwaving everything at home. Overall, taste was the same and The whole shabang shrimp and cajun fries are always a fav for me! It's well worth the wait though! I really like that they take out all my order one by one to make sure they doesn't miss anything instead of just let me grab and go and go home only notice something miss (if happened). They are also very generous in giving the bib, wet towel! The lobster and Dungeness crab are very good. 5 stars. However, among the 1lb shrimps, about 1/3 are rotten powdery taste, such quality level (we didn't dare to eat, just put them away). About 1/3 are much better, fresh and chewy, you can feel the difference easily. And the rest 1/3 just in between, bearable. The manager came and said they knew the quality of this lot is not very good but there is nothing they can do. Other tables also complained about that.
