We figured we'd go out to eat and support local business so after Cuomo conceded and opened restaurants, we came here. You could smell and see the cleanliness and knew they were doing whatever they could to keep you safe. Our server was fantastic and we had zero issues. Now....the food.... I've been here before and have had excellent food. I don't know if it's due to covid or a change of staff or what but the food......we ordered a lot and I was very disappointed. I ordered a sirloin qith crab legs as an add on. The steak wasn't a sirloin and was riddled with veins so much that I couldn't chew it (I have dentures). The crab must have had freezer burn or something because it was sticking to the shell and what I got out tasted chalky. My stepson ordered clams casino. We all tried them and the amount of salt in them was enough to make me gag. The diet soda I ordered was flat and you could taste some sort of cleaner that they used on the glasses. I expected more since I spent over $130 in food on 3 people. I see some good and some bad. The one in Boston hills was great! We went a couple times to the one here on genesee. We went for a birthday once and it was solid! next trip was my birthday and it was mediocre. But it can change here and there even though you should be consistent. Now my Birthday. I took my then girlfriend who is also a fan. She ordered the Seafood platter, I went with Surf and turf. Our appetizers took a half hour, they were just dainties. They cook themselves! It was in November and it was a light crowd. More people were at the bar than in the dining area. It took an hour for our dinners! My prime rib was well done which is a crime! The lobster tasted like it was cooked a couple times. My friend was ok with hers. The clams were mahogany hence the cheap price. I was so hungry i ate it anyway because i have heard the horror stories. Just half mostly. The waitress rarely attended to us. I left a $5 tip which was $5 to much! I ordered wings when we got back to South bflo. I have not been back since. There were maybe 8 people in back the whole hour and a half we were there. Cheap, crowded, dark, and delicious. Boston Hotel, oddly named, despite being in Buffalo, definitely has a great feel to it. From the moment you approach the establishment, you can smell the boil water, and it just gets you ready for a night of delicious seafood. The place itself is fairly large, but the main dining room is limited, and they do not open the extension often. There is a full bar, with a few tables near the bar. Dark, crowded, and tight, Boston Hotel is still an experience you don't want to miss. You want to come to Boston Hotel on Mondays, where they usually have their calm, crab, and wings special. Each of the items (a dozen clams, half a crab, a dozen wings), each cost under 4 dollars. Drinks like soda and water comes in at 6 dollars a pitcher, with beer ranging. The wait time to be seated can hit 1 or so hours, with the wait time for food ranging from 5-30 minutes. However, the taste of the fresh seafood definitely outweigh the slow and dreary weight times. The place is usually crowded with the "Monday Night Locals" and college students, looking to get their seafood fill. read more

I was so excited when my boyfriend finally took me to this place for dinner, but I didn't have a great time there. Normally, they have the Monday specials, but since it was fourth of July weekend, there was no special :( was a bit disappointed, but there was other choices. So i settled in with the crab cake and some clams and it was pretty good. The food was satisfying, but the service was terrible. The waitress that was serving us was terrible. She barely even paid attention to my table, and it seems every time she comes by our table, she just want to leave and seen annoyed. We didn't even ask for much. All we did was order our food. And normally when you go to a restaurant, servers would come over and ask if everything is okay and refill our glass with water, but this waitress didn't even do that. We tried getting her attention and see if she can fill our glass, but she never notice it. When we finally got her attention and asked for a refill, she didn't even come back with the water, another waitress came by our table to fill it for us. This place is always a great time. Monday's are the days that they are known for, they have some great seafood specials... crab legs, clams and shrimp, asking with of course wrong specials as well. Now don't think that this is going to be some kind of fancy place because it's not. Which is why I am giving it only 3 stars. Their service is a little lacking there as well. The bar tenders were ultra friendly and gave me a good tip for Monday's... you can eat right at the bar if you can find a seat there it's usually quicker than waiting for a table. read more

This place rocks!! The clams casino were righteous and the danties were something I'd never had before. They were great. Also had a jumbo bacon cheddar burger mid well. Juicy perfect and not over seasoned. The ambiance is super casual, like it belongs on the beach. Styrofoam plates don't offend me, I'm there for the ridiculous seafood , not special presentation. So we decided to go to the Boston Hotel's Steak and Crabhouse on a Monday because we heard from various people that that was the day to go. They have half off seafood. Sounds like a great deal to me! Well, we got there after work (5pm) and found out that the deals on half off seafood do not start until 8pm. so since we made the drive out there, we decided to just stay and eat dinner anyway. For three people to eat it was $100! the haddock had the skin and bones still attached, the shrimp was overcooked, the lobster was overcooked, the only thing that was pretty awesome were the scallops. (i think they were just boiled in butter that's why) The vegetables are just frozen vegetables (that tasted water logged). The menus were dirty and greasy. The servers were all very nice and polite. Needless to say, we will not be returning here. Also something to keep in mind - they do not accept credit cards or checks - only CASH. When we returned home, I had a terrible stomach ache that kept me up all night. Not sure if that was just a coincidence or if it was something I ate. My advice to whoever is thinking about going to eat here is to maybe take advantage of their deal on Monday - other than that - do not eat there. you will be disappointed if you do. read more

I went here the other night and had heard great things about this place (even though the prices kind of made me question the freshness of the sea food) anyways, it was about an hour late as I went for the Tuesday specials with it being 60cent wings, $3 ousters or something like that, clams, and the crab clusters that were all super cheap. The ousters were probably the best thing that I got. The clams were super chewy and the raw ones I got were questionable, crab clusters were meh, very little meat and over steamed. We arrived at 7:15 so we were one of the first parties in line for the 8 o'clock specials. We were a larger party of 7 so we knew it might be a little wait. By the time 8:40 rolled around and they still hadn't seated us we asked the manager about how long it would be and he just yelled at us and acted like we were being rude because we brought so many people to eat at this restaurant! My husband and I came here a few years ago and loved it. The décor and atmosphere is very casual, yet being very clean and well maintained. Although we live an hour away by the Thruway, it was well worth the drive, so we decided to come again last night for our anniversary. The food was excellent, and very reasonably priced, as we both had prime rib, lobster dainties and each an appetizer. The clams casino and raw oysters were delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service was also excellent, as our server was very attentive, ensuring we were completely satisfied. Pretty much a bar and not a good restaraunt. Big portions for entrees, but the quality is low. I wanted to order a salad with grilled chicken added, but was told they couldn't add chicken to their chef salad, an unusual denial as they have a grilled chicken breast sandwich and I could have made it myself by ordering the sandwich without a bun... If I wasn't told they don't serve any of their chicken dishes on Fridays due to fish fries being popular. I instead ordered a filet medium well and it came out rare and unseasoned. They took it back to cook it further, as they should, but it came back medium at best, which I stomached. I added salt and pepper to flavor it. read more

My friend told me about Boston Hotel's Steak & Crab House. So I decided to go there and try their seafood! We ordered one dozen clams, oyster, buffalo wing, steak w/ lobster tail. The oyster and clams were so fresh compared to Joe Crab Shack! There was a HUGE difference from Joe's Crab Shack. The food was delicious but the dining room was a bit old and they served with paper plates, otherwise I would give 5 stars. Everything was very fresh like chicken wings and seafood! It's really great to see people keep seafood fresh! Maybe next time I would do take out instead of dine in! However, the atmosphere in the restaurant cannot compare to Joe's Crab Shack, but the foods quality is MUCH better than Joe's Crab Shack. read more

We have been going here for YEARS and it has been on the down slope for years. At one time when the old man ran the place it was very good, yet cheap. I use to recommend it all the time. Not so much anymore. Prices have spiked over the years and the quality has slipped a lot. But that's not only problem. It's DIRTY and run down. Just look around and you can see no money is being spent to keep the place up. Tap beer is WARM and they know it, where the bar stools are the floor has worn thru the several layers of flooring and you can no longer sit on a bar stool without the stool rocking. Now look UP above where the bartender stands and notice the AC/Heat vent on the ceiling. It's has black dirt and grime hanging down from it and you can see it been like that for a LONG time. I can't believe the county health inspector passes this place. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like. The cheap clams that they are famous for are no longer cheap and they are not regular clams like you think you are getting. Instead of little neck clams they are mahogany clams that no one else sells because they are not the sweet clams clam eaters desire. Hopefully the owner reads this review and cleans up and puts some money back into this place because it WAS our favorite place to eat. We will NOT be returning until we hear it's been cleaned and remodeled, but I'm not holding my breath. read more

I am so happy that my boyfriend and I decided to come to the Boston Hotel for dinner last night. Monday night around 7:30 so the dinning room wasn't that crowded and probably slower than most restaurants around that time. We started with 2 dozen steamed clams & large dainties and they were so awesome that I probably could've just ate 5 dozen clams instead of dinner but thankfully I didn't because we both ordered surf & turf! Strip steaks cooked rare & medium rare and they were cooked to perfection (seriously everywhere we go my boyfriend complains his steak isn't the right "rare" consistency but he was VERY happy here) and a 4 oz lobster tail which was just as delightful as the steaks. We ate all of that food and on top of that each had a few beers.. anywhere else we probably would've paid over $100 but we were so thrilled at the amount of our bill, you can't beat the prices and definitely cannot beat the food. We loved our server too, she was on top of everything and very sociable and friendly, we both can't wait to come back again and again.. might as well be our new favorite spot! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the dinning room service is not even a 3 star rating......however, the bar service is very good to say the least. Food and Prices can't be beat anywhere, especially when it comes to seafood. However, don't overlook their steaks and prime rib. Make sure you bring CASH as no other means of paying is accepted. Went last night for the first time even though we have lived around the corner for almost 2 years. We were told how great the place is but its outer appearance kept us away. Boy were we wrong to judge a book by its very iffy looking cover. The food is phenomenal. When you walk in you get that amazing aroma of seafood that makes your mouth water. We started with an order of large dainties which were quite good and incredibly inexpensive. My fiancé ordered that beer battered fish fry which in the usual buffalo tradition is enormous. He said it was one of the best he's had in a while. As someone who is a fish fry lover that's a bold statement. I had the broiled scallops since in my mind they were a healthier option for my diet. Considering they came out swimming in butter and breadcrumbs I don't think they were low cal but they were so delicious I did not care in the least. Easily the best scallops I've ever had. The sides are the usual seafood place fare and just average but let's face it that's not what you are there for. My boyfriend mentioned making it a 4 star review, taking away one star for the dilapidated appearance of both the exterior and interior but honestly I think it gave it some charm and not spending money on remodeling probably helps keeps the prices so low. I love boston and I love the owner. Alot of people do not know that the owner drives up to boston, mass to get his seafood weekly and then passes on the savings to you. I used to go alot on monday night's for the special's, but as I got older I rather spend a few dollars more later in the week then have to deal with the crowding. The owner is a good guy and always make's it a point to acknowledge you or by asking simply if you enjoyed your meal. As a fellow business owner, I respect that. The food was good but not worth the hour and a half wait. We live an hour away and made the drive just to go to the Boston Hotel. We had a party of 9 and the hostess told us only 8 were allowed max. When we put our name on the waiting list at 8pm we told her we were willing to have the tables split up if it seated us faster. During the course of an hour and a half and STILL waiting, we asked her 4 different times to check the status of our wait and she snapped as us and said "you have asked me FOUR times. You have three large groups ahead of you. Don't ask again." When we reminded her we would split up as a group, that's when we got seated faster. She sat us 4 people per table so our remaining person, who lives in the area, went home. Two of our cousins who also live in the area met up with us after we were seated, so we grabbed two chairs for them, 1 per table. We were told by the employees that we couldn't do that, and the wait for 2 more people would be another hour and a half, so my cousins went home. i write this review because I read a few reviews about this restaurant that were a little negative. Well, I loved this place! I went Friday (4 the 1st time) night at six. The place was packed w/ happy, friendly people! We had our names put on a list and waited in line. The restaurant staff was busy flying around taking care of customers w/ smiles on their faces, exchanging pleasantries as they passed by. We finally were seated. We enjoyed an amazing array of seafood appetizers that were delicious & great prices too. They didn't mind that my husband & I split a double lobster tail dinner & even brought an extra plate w/ out being asked! The food was excellent! Prices can't be beat! The place started to empty out, but none of the large tables were free. so even though there are two tables open and plenty of room to move them together. we were told that we would have to split up because it is against policy to move the tables or to slide them together.... even though they close in an hour and no one else is waiting... terrible service and snooty staff. don't wast your time. read more

If I could give this a negative star I would. Waitress was rude, they don't take credit, they don't "do separate checks" (even for just 4 people and they write their own checks so how hard would it be to turn the page and write another one???), overpriced food that is not good. I had the seafood Alfredo that they said came with crab but had no crab and the Alfredo was very bland. Ugh. This place does not take reservations so we took a chance on a sat night @ 530. Before taking the 3 kids out of their car seats, went in to ask how long. Nasty mean waitress said just a few minutes. We came in and waited. After 20+ minutes, we asked how long and nasty rude mean waitress said at least another 20+ minutes or so at least. She could not have cared any less that we were standing there with 3 little kids...which I get...except for we would have gone somewhere else with an accurate estimate. Thankfully a nicer waitress helped us and apologized for the rudeness of nasty mean waitress. Within minutes we were seated. I made the mistake of asking nasty rude waitress to get us a highchair. She practically laughed in my face and said she would tell the nice waitress. And of course she didn't...so I helped out and got it myself. Believe it or not, the meal was just fine after all this and we had a good time. Nice waitress even offered to buy a round of drinks for the nasty treatment we received. We tipped nice waitress well and will never go back. I may also tell this story any time I hear about this establishment. If I were the owner, I would fire nasty mean waitress. read more
