I'm not checked in and waiting for more than ten minutes when the front desk guy asks to speak with me outside. Proceeds to walk me to my car without saying anything while a few of the white mechanic guys are looking at me laughing to themselves. When we approach my car he says that they cannot service my vehicle because of a foul odor coming from my car. I take my dog on trails often and recently he rolled in some mud and got it in the backseat. I didn't think mud stains in the backseat would be an issue for service being done on the engine and headlights. I've taken it to a couple mechanics in the past couple months and none have had an issue when my dog dirties up the backseat from his trail hikes. I can understand it not being pleasant for the workers, but I would've cleaned it for them and rescheduled since it was such a big issue. Instead they didn't offer to reschedule and I just got laughed at, handed keys, and asked to leave. I wasn't even greeted when I first pulled into the garage. One of the white mechanic guys just stared at me and walked away as I was parking my vehicle. I had to walk inside before anybody spoke with me, and even then I wasn't greeted first, Given I haven't had this issue before, and the unwelcoming states and quietness I got before I even handed the keys over pulling in, they just didn't want to service my car because of personal prejudices. I'm always called ma'am and greeted when I first pull in and have no complaints from mechanics when I service my car at other places nearby. It's a shame because I had to miss work just to make this appointment. If you're reading this, I'd service your car elsewhere if you happen to have dogs/kids, or expect a simple greeting as you're pulling in.

Only problem was that dealer was 4 hours away. Called and spoke to Nathan at around 4:00pm. That's when the over the top exceptional customer service experience began. We had recently thought we found a vehicle only to arrive at dealer and find the car was sold. Expressed our concern that this might happen again. Nathan explained the VA Select Policy of not "holding" a car if someone came into lot and wanted to purchase. What he did do, was commit to letting us know upon closing that evening (via text), that the car was in fact still available and we could commit to driving there in the morning. But that wasn't good enough for Nathan. He also went the extra mile and took a picture of a scratch he noticed on the vehicle and sent us pictures. Said he would ask the body shop to buff it out first thing in the morning. We texted Nathan when we departed our house at 6:30am (they don't open until 9) and he was then able to remove it from the lot so no one could purchase since we were now enroute. Upon arriving to the location after 4-hour drive, the first thing we say at the entrance was a shiny, newly detailed Dodge Charger. My son was very excited and Nathan proceeded to give us a 30-minute certificate to do a test drive. This completely suprised us, as our experience had been drive around the block with saleperson hovering in back seat. Son was convinced it was the car after driving it for 5 minutes. Upon our return, Nathan offered us beverages and escorted us to his desk for the daunting "sign and make it yours experience". Not once did we feel pressure. No haggling was required (we knew this before we came), and Nathan patiently answered each and every question. Once the paperwork was complete and ready for us to go to the financing department, we all went outside and talked about the car some more. Nathan shared several personal stories with our family and we were happy that we had him as our salesperson. But it didn't stop there. Once Finanace was ready for us, Nathan took it upon himself to take the vehicle to the the nearby service station and top of the gas tank. Outstanding. The financing process was quick and painless as we had pre-approval for the loan. Robert Seeney (F & I Manager) took over from there and made sure all the paperwork was in order since we were from out of state. He was extremely professional and had the personality of someone who took the customer service experience seriously. Bottom line is that our experience with Virginia Select Auto was exceptionally pleasant and we would hope that everyone would get the opportunity to work with Nathan if in the market to purchase a car. Just goes to show that this place is really a genuine place to go because they don't have your business and they're treating me this good. he also mentioned whenever you get a used car always come in and get an overall check which is $89. This way you get an out side true review of the car you are buying not just what the dealer is telling you. I never thought about doing that but I can see where the value would be totally with it. Brakes were fine, just dust build up, so no charge and appreciated. However, I was charged $531.95 for the alternator part alone (GM part #20911162), before labor/tax/fees. The same exact part number is available from Amazon ($199.70), GMPartsGiant ($268.81), and GMPartsClub ($318.59) -- all about half off what I paid, even accounting for normal shop markup over retail. Labor ($192) was fair. I wasn't shown itemized part pricing before authorizing the repair. Ask for the exact part number and price breakdown before agreeing to a repair here, or get a second quote. If you don't, expect to pay completely avoidable and unneccesary markups.
