I added a side of pork sausage links and wheat toast, large milk, large OJ. Prices for the breakfast was under $14. My only issues was that the beverages and sides added up quick paid twice as much for those in total as the main meal. We've been eating here regularly for about 3 years. Today I enjoyed blackened shrimp and grits, which was fantastic! Grits were perfect, shrimp tasted nice, had bacon and green onion on top. I swapped out the garlic bread for one of their biscuits. I get their biscuits every time I eat there, make sure you ask to have them griddled. I learned that the shrimp meal is only served on Sundays. Service has always been good, coffee and water regularly topped off. This review is a bit long overdue, considering that this was literally one of the first places we ate at after we moved to Lutz in July 2025. It was recommended to us by our property manager, and it truly exceeded all expectations when it came to the service, ambiance, and food. If you're looking for a mom-n-pop's diner experience, The Breakfast Nook is where you want to go if you're up in the Lutz/Land O' Lakes area. Hailing from New Jersey and as a Jersey native, we know diners pretty well. Having lived in the Lake Nona area of Orlando about a decade ago, I had the opportunity of experiencing Florida's way of putting a home-kitchen/barnyard twist to the diner experience in Sweet Mama's restaurant. The Breakfast Nook was very reminiscent of that, bringing back nostalgic memories that that great experience. The Breakfast Nook is tucked away in the Tropical Village plaza, along route 41 (Land O' Lakes Boulevard) on the Northbound side, essentially across the highway from Walmart. The Breakfast Nook is situated at the corner of the larger building, containing both outdoor and indoor seating areas. The barnyard decor and assortment of non-matching themes thrown together, give The Breakfast Nook that unique flavor and look. The ability to do this enables the restaurant to dispel any notions of pretentiousness. Along with this, the welcoming and inviting hosts and servers make you feel welcomed as if you were joining them for breakfast at their homes. The menu offered a range of dining choices (mainly specializing in breakfast options), however, I would recommend paying attention to some of the posted specials that may be found on their chalkboard ad sitting in front of the restaurant. If I recall correctly, I ordered something along the lines of a churro/cinnamon twist pancake stack, the wife ordering some eggs, sausage and tots, while my daughters shared a kids breakfast. The food was amazingly fresh, and while you typically can't do breakfast wrong the flavors were outstanding. Along with the fresh cups of coffee brew, it completed and stamped our arrival to Florida. This is definitely a breakfast staple for the area. If you're looking to impress a date or lavish your spouse with an early morning meal that saves you the cooking, I would highly recommend The Breakfast Nook! read more

service was very good, quick we were in and out in under 40 minutes. It a great home feel, home cook meal and ambiance makes you feel your at your friends southern grandma's house. Today's prices it's $15 per person which I guess in 2025 is comparable to a sit down restaurant. Don't get me wrong you're getting real ingredients like the eggs, beacon, biscuit and gravy. The food was very good ! We went on a Sunday before the post church rush but they stated they were very understaffed. 30 min wait when over 20 tables were open because the kitchen was behind. Everything was made fresh and very delicious. The staff was very kind, it took awhile to be greeted but once she greeted us it was very quick. The food is still good, but be warned - their prices have risen so much that we actually thought we had the wrong table's bill. Even so, we went back again last weekend and I paid more attention to the prices this time. $4.50 for mediocre coffee is a bit steep in my opinion. The biscuits and gravy was clearly just some pre-made from a bag Cysco slop. The fruit cup, both tries, was small with poor variety and over-ripe/bad fruit. The grits were just as bad, no flavor and just poured from the bag. Service was fine. I don't know why they need to charge a $1 fee on credit cards. It's 2025, credit cards are part of doing business, the customer shouldn't be penalized. Overall poor, and there's 6 or 7 other options within 10 minutes of here. I ordered Eggs Benedict with extra sauce. The sauce was not even the slightest bit close to a hollandaise sauce. It was basically yellow glop on my plate. No other way to describe it. Basic Hollandaise is Butter, lemon and egg yolks cooked slowly over a double boiler. There was no hint of lemon or butter in the sauce. The Canadian bacon was paper thin and barely detectable. Dean asked for a coffee for himself and an OJ for Addy (6 years old). 20 minutes later- Dean had to go look for coffee. Neither had gotten their drinks. Food came out around 35 minutes past ordering- they were busy. My sister asked for butter for her grits and she never got it- she passed the unbuttered grits to her husband. I had also asked for napkins when my sis asked for butter- we never got those either. Food! Best part. Peach Streusel French Toast- 5 stars! 2 of us ordered this and it was so flavorful, and not too sweet. The streusel crumbles were perfection Country fried steak and eggs- another huge hit "perfect bread to meat ratio" and cooked so the meat was tender Stuffed French Toast- I thought Dean was going to lick his plate... My sister had a traditional breakfast of eggs, grits, sausage (I had the sausage links too) and oh my! The sausage was so good I joked I could have just had four links of that and called it a day! And I loved my french toast!!! But the sausage- get that with your breakfast! The fastest part of service was checking out- done on a tablet, it was the only efficient thing our server did. 7/1/24 - Came with a friend for lunch. At 12:45 I was a bit surprised it wasn't busier and we took a table at the window. Servers seemed busy cleaning up tables but we were acknowledged a few minutes later and it wasn't long before our server, Lacey came with menus and a bubbly personality. She took our beverage order and said she'd give us a few minutes to decide. Shortly after the beverage order arrived, Lacey returned to take questions and orders. I selected the chicken salad melt on rye, grilled, and with a side of the bean soup, which also had sausage in it. I thought it great but others might not like the surprise. My friend ordered one of the omelets and a side (huge) of home fries. I finished everything on my plate. My friend accepted the box offered and took the rest of hers home. We liked that it was quiet so we didn't feel that we had to shout to have a conversion. In many indoor restaurants that's a problem. There is a nice size out door area, but for us in a Tampa summer it's too hot, humid or rainy. I've been back a few times since my 1st review and it is always very consistent. Great place to have breakfast at the Nook. We were here for other thing but see this place open and decided to join the crowd for brunch. The place is bid. The hostess has beautiful mask. My wife has the 6oz grilled strip steak and I have the the Atlantic wild caught haddock. The strip steak is almost like New York strip. Is well prepared and come with two side. My wife got the tot and the fried okra. The Sr trip is easy to chew and cut. I like the grilled haddock. Not many place serve this kind of fish. This place is one of them. I got the veggies beef soup as the side. It is wonderful. We also got one of the day special with strawberry French toast. I think this dis is just ok and below average. Service is good.
