I actually came here with my best friend recently. Let me preface by saying that we were desperate to look around for wedding dresses for me since it was getting late that date and we were turned down by a national wedding dress store chain due to not having an appointment - a review for that later. Anyway, I yelped it and was expecting splendid service since there were such good reviews. However unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. I needed to write this review to inform others and let you guys know how I felt coming here. It'll save you the hassle, I promise! OK so what happened was we walked in and the older woman was pretty friendly but for some reason her and the middle aged lady (Sylvia) always got into fighting matches. For example the older lady (probably her mother in law) kept giving me smaller sizes of wedding dresses to try on and said that I was a good size, and even picked out some pretty ones (tube style which is what I liked). However, the other lady, Sylvia, had the audacity to tell me that I was FAT and was so super rude. (Just because I told her I wouldn't fit those small dresses, that I was a size medium - TRUST Me i know what size I am). Anyway, moving on -- that Sylvia lady grabbed the small ones away from me (that the older lady gave) and proceeded to hand me the LARGEST wedding dress in the store. Is she blind? I'm not fat. I'm actually pretty tall and quite medium sized. I am totally fine with my body structure. Anyway, so we head to the so called "dressing room" and I wore that extremely HIDEOUS dress and it slid off of me like slime. It was hilarious. My best friend was so appalled. She then gave me another dress, and the same outcome. I don't know how I was so patient with her? Anyway we proceeded to leave and then they advertised their $99 specials. Disgusting!!!! I don't think I've seen such ugly dresses since reading a history book. If you like 1800 styles, come here I'm forreal! Anyway as we were walking out, Chuck (the guy) stops us and asks me about photography. He then tried to market himself to do photography at my wedding. He asked me my date, I told him the ball park. He then quoted the price of $1888 which includes the book. He also told me how amazing Sylvia was at make up. (I was thinking...oh that lady who was super rude to me???) No thanks. I have seen other places that are better. Thankfully the following week I went to a different wedding place (not too far from here) and had the most amazing experience!!! But I digress. What scam artists! Yuck! I will never come here again, it was such a horrendous experience.

Sylvia uses air brush foundation, which lasted all day, considering it was applied early in the morning (occasional touch up is required). The service includes a pre-wedding day facial to prep your skin. Of course, a balanced diet and plenty of beauty sleep are essential leading up to the big day. If you don't the look you want for your wedding day, Sylvia would compose the appropriate look. It's crucial that you communicate to her of any dress changes (typical custom for Chinese weddings) so that she would use the most complimentary palette. The price is reasonable and she can do the hair as well, depending on the size of the bridal party. There was a contracted stylist (same guy) that did my hair for all my visits. For my wedding, since I didn't have a veil, Sylvia brought miniature roses from her garden to adorn my hair. The personal touch meant a lot. Also, I'm 4'10", Sylvia gave me a style with height. :-D I highly recommend Sylvia for bridal makeup and hair style!

When I saw what dress she gave me, I was a little hesitant because it's not the type I usually go for... but when I put it on, I was astounded by how well it complemented my figure. This includes your own vision completely from scratch and exact replicas of designer gowns. It all boils down to their sewing team finding an identical fabric, then the sewing process takes around 2 months. We were shown numerous Berta lookalikes and I couldn't tell a single difference from the pics online compared to the dress in store. The gowns they do have are samples they've made for the most part. These are available for $800-1000 to rent. If you're a super picky bride, have a unique body type, and/or have liked multiple gowns but find one thing you don't like about each one, this place is for you! I showed her my Pinterest inspiration photos, shared my budget (with a little flexibility), and explained the features I was hoping for: a sweetheart or V-neckline, some shimmer, and a lightweight fabric like chiffon since my wedding is outdoors. She thoughtfully selected a few gowns for me and encouraged me to pick some as well. Let me just say--Chloe is the BEST stylist and ultimate hype woman you could ask for while dress shopping! I quickly found my top choice and came back a few days later to make the purchase. Sherri was very knowledgeable about every dress in her shop and supported me every step of the decision. We booked an appointment 4 or 5 days ahead of time, as there was full availability on the calendar for weekdays. There is a 48 hour cancellation window, and at hour 47 we realized that the timing conflicted slightly with a work matter (when we made the appointment we were in New York and miscalculated the time difference). An email was sent at the 47th hour (1 hour after the window), mentioning the issue and asking if it could still be canceled since it was so close to the window, and apologizing for missing the window. The owner replied and specifically said "No problem, we've gone ahead and canceled the appointment for you". At this point, we figured all was well as they made no mention of still charging the fee. A few weeks later, we noticed the charge was still there. A quick email reply came when we inquired saying it was past their window and no refund was due. IF this was the case, why did the original email not say so and why did they make 0 effort to reschedule or ask if another time worked better? OR we could have made it work if she hadn't responded so positively. What a slimy way to make a quick $27 for nothing. I will restate that the calendar was still really really open (ie, it was not a highly sough after appointment slot taken from anyone else even on the off chance they were booking in the 2-4 days out window). Overall, it is a blessing the appointment didn't happen after reading some of these reviews about how the owner acts in person (no surprise there). Ended up with a beautiful dress from Berta and would highly recommend their new LA showroom on Beverly.
