Stopped here with my cousin for breakfast. A warm and friendly spot with a rather extensive breakfast menu and many daily specials for lunch. This is obviously a popular spot for budget conscious local seniors, the prices are very reasonable. I had my favorite breakfast choice, a ham and cheese omelet with hash browns. The food was excellent. My cousin got his regular choice which was a special with eggs, bacon and pancakes. He loved it. Service was fast and friendly. Don't know about their luncheon specials but it's a hard place to pass up for breakfast in this area. read more

1st visit wasn't that great so I decided to give it another try before I wrote the review. 1st stop basic eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. Eggs were the best part. Bacon too crisp even after being asked it I wanted it crispy or regular...I asked for regular. I don't know how to describe the homefries. Usually if I don't care for them I'll box them up and take them home to fixe them. I left these. Toast seemed limp like it sat out too long before being served. 2nd stop...eggs French toast, bacon and hashbrowns.....everything much better! Even the bacon was much improved. This is my regular hot spot for breakfast for over 15 years. I truly enjoy coming here the food is always good and the staff is always friendly. My favorite dishes are the country omelette a must and there eggs benedict the best in 3 counties. Definitely the cleanest restaurant I have ever seen including the kitchen (since I have been in it). Great place to bring the family or a large group. Although I don't come for dinner often the few times I have I would recommend the seafood platter. Three words for this place.......YUM YUM YUM The wife and I wanted to try a different place for breakfast. We weren't sure where to go. So after driving around for more than 45 minutes finding nothing we like we pulled over at a gas station and jumped on Yelp.. That is when we found this place. It was only six miles away so we decided to try it out. We pulled up and the parking lot was packed. We ended up parking in the last spot in the parking lot, yes that busy. We walked in and there was one table open so the waitress escorted us to the table in the middle of the place. Now mind you this place is small. It could seat about 50 people. For my choice of meal was a mushroom, onion, bacon and cheese omelette. I also ordered a side of sausage gravy The wife had what they call a hole in one aka egg in a basket. Everything was server pretty quickly which I was surprised since they were so busy. Well the food had an excellent taste. Even the Home fried potatoes were just right. Crispy on the outside while the inside was perfectly soft. The biggest surprise was the price. It was very cheap for all this food. I will definitely be back. I have been a regular off and on depending on if I was living in the area or not but it's my favorite go-to breakfast spot and I always get the same thing, unfortunately maybe, as I haven't had anything else on their big menu......... but I'm sure it's all good just like my diced ham & eggs breakfast I get. They even know what I'm going to order and always ask me "your regular?" and of course I say yep! The food to start off with was very good. The waiters are nice and it's overall a cool place in the underground. It is a little dirty but the atmosphere covers it up rusticly. Their eggs don't nessasarily dissapoint. If you don't know where to go for breakfast, this is the place for you. read more

my last visit was 7/3/19 for breakfast. Mind you I was a regular for both breakfast and dinner, but wont be going back. I waited an hour to get breakfast and when it was finally brought to me the corn beef hash was burned and one of my eggs broken. Really? The kitchen felt this was ok to serve? I ate what I could and when paying was asked how everything was and explained. Met with indifference. Expected to somehow be accommodated and nothing! No one seemed to care. No apology and made me pay full price! So that will be the last time I eat there. There are plenty of choices out there so take care! read more

I was unsure of what to expect when I first came here, as Yelp has super polarizing reviews of this restaurant, but heard good things from friends, and decided to try it out. Broken Yolk had good, basic, breakfast food. I ordered the beaver combination (two eggs any way, bacon and texas french toast) and swapped some of my french toast for a friend's pancakes. I also had a side of hash browns, which were decent, but not in the style that I prefer. The breakfast food was good, I especially liked the bacon which was very crispy. I would come again. Take note that I've noticed they usually have a wait. I came at 7:30 am with a friend and we got a seat immediately at the counter, but by the time we left at 8:15, there were quite a few people waiting. The service.... the service was sooooo bad! The food was actually decent and super cheap but the service was horrendous! I mean if you don't want to wait tables please don't- we just came to eat breakfast and the servers attitude was so bad. She barely came to our table she put in our order wrong so someone else brought out a few extra items we didn't order then we heard her get an attitude because we sent it back. I had asked for peanut butter with my toast and no peanut butter came out then i tried to get her attention after she was helping the table beside us but she just turned and flew off in the other direction without even checkin on us or our food. I had to walk over basically to the kitchen to ask for peanut butter and then she told me to wait there for it instead of bringing it to the table. I just feel like hiring more friendly staff that actually care about their jobs would do this place well! read more

Been here 3 times in the past month for brunch. Never a disappointment. Small family owner diner type restaurant with mostly local neighborhood patrons. They have a daily soup special. The split pea was rather yummy!!! I'd heard that this restaurant was owned by people from upper New York State. For this reason, I thought the quality of the battered haddock fish fry would be good, if not excellent. Nope! I received a fairly thin piece of haddock with paper thin 'batter' that wasn't even crunchy, except for a slight crunch on the tip of the fillet. It had almost no flavor. I think the 'cook' (and I use that title loosely) placed the cooked fillet on a wet plate because it was soggy on the bottom and there appeared to be water on the plate. It wasn't greasy with oil....it was watery! The haddock fish n' chips comes with coleslaw and fries. I asked to have the fries cooked very crispy. They weren't, and had little flavor, as well. We ordered fried mushrooms ($5.99) for an appetizer and we received a somewhat small portion that was overcooked and came without dipping sauce of any kind. I asked if I could substitute applesauce instead of coleslaw, which they did. When it arrived it was a portion smaller than the amount you'd feed to a baby...seriously? There was about an 1/8 cup in the dish. Dinner did not include salad. It was $2 more for a small iceberg lettuce and tomato salad with a tiny bit of shaved carrot and red cabbage in it. They didn't serve any rolls or bread with the meal and when I asked for dinner rolls and butter (I thought they forgot them) the waitress told me they don't have them. Really?! What restaurant doesn't have either rolls, French or Italian bread?! The dinner comes with pudding for dessert. I had rice pudding, which tasted homemade with a definitively rich vanilla flavor and was the best thing about the meal, but again, about 1/8 of a cup! The haddock fish fry was cheap ($9.99) compared to most other places but after adding the salad, drinks, appetizer and 20% tip (the waitress was very good and we weren't about to take it out on her for the very poor quality of the food), it cost $45 for the two of us. This little family style restaurant may be okay for breakfast or a tuna sandwich, but if you're in the mood for dinner, especially fried haddock....steer clear! read more

Fast, friendly service. Full order of biscuits and gravy was more than enough. While their corned beef hash wasn't homemade, they served it up crisp and was big enough as a side order. It's average here. The servers can have a bit of attitude sometimes-the last time I was there they ran out of grits (at 10am on a Saturday) & our server said, "the early bird gets the worm" in a rude tone, ew! However, the food is consistently good & prices are reasonable. read more

I eat here almost every week for breakfast. For $3.99, I get bacon, eggs, home fries and toast. Everything is done the way I request it and the servers are quite nice. There are usually 15-24 in my group and our orders are taken and the food served in a timely manner. It's certainly not Bern's, but I'm not paying Bern's prices either. If I were to have one suggestion, it would be to keep the coffee pots filled. Of course, I don't drink coffee so I don't care personally. read more

The portion size was very large, I ended up being able to take home enough for dinner tonight. The meal included desert which was a small scoop of green jello, rice pudding or chocolate pudding.
