I'd give it a four on decor. It's way fun and completely over the top. We took a thousand pics I'd say a two on the food for an average of three. The fish was really fresh and cooked right. It was a smaller portion than we'd had at other restaurants. One dish came to the table with a hair on the plate. This place is amazing. Super cute decorations. 100 year old building. Waitress was great. Not sure how they made a Turkey sandwich taste so good!!! The bread was awesome also. Our reservations were at 5pm as we didn't want to come for the Dinner rush. Cocktails were also very good! They sat the 8 of us at a nice table. The table ordered a variety of fish entrees. Fresh Grouper, Mahi Mahi, Snapper and so on. A couple of people at our table had been there once before. We hadn't seen them in a while and it was nice they were there. My Husband and I pretty much picked the Bubble Room for everyone thinking we couldn't lose. Well we did lose. Not just one of our entrees we're not very good. All of us had the same experience. All the fish was way over cooked and dry. All the entrees we're just above room temp. I have worked in restaurants for many years. One reason for something like this is that the food is plated before it's actually ordered. Some high turn over restaurants do this. I don't know if that is what happened here. But our fish definitely had all the signs that it sat for a long time before getting to our table. Maybe under a heat lamp. I grew up in South Florida. Fishing and ocean life in general was/is my life. I love Sanibel and Captiva and have stayed on Captiva more times than I can count. I honestly have never had a meal this bad on the Island. The servers? Great! The Cocktails? Great! The Desserts? Fantastic! But the entrees were not good. We made the best of it because that is what my family does. And putting the quality of the food on the servers, in my opinion, is not fair. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the energy of the wait staff and bartender. This is a spot I have been coming to for 30 years! I loved our visits when I was a young kid, the shadow box tables with nostalgic items were so fun to look at! This was usually one of the highlights for me of our Sanibel Island February vacations in the 80s and 90s. I've been back a few times over the past couple of years. It seems like not a lot has changed, but that's ok. I'd describe this spot as massively kitsch. This place is visual overload, there are so many cool things to look at. Your waiter is a "bubble scout" and dons a cute little scout themed uniform. I don't remember the food being that amazing, so we now just stop at the bar and have a drink. I've been coming here my whole life -- every summer! This is our first stop on the island for lunch. The experience is nostalgic and something I look forward to. Some of the staff have been there almost the whole time I've been coming to visit. They are so nice and friendly. All the food is great. My family personally just loves the Carolina Moons and sometimes we don't even eat an entree! But usually we get one or two to split. The Mae West and the Bubble Burger are two that come to mind which are great. Also -- the desserts are to die for. Any of the cakes are great. They're are most known for their decadent cakes like the Orange Crunch and Red Velvet, but there is so many to choose from and all so tasty. They also serve an amazing "She Crab" soup and for the prime rib lover, you can't beat the quality & size for the price. Besides the the entrees and desserts, their signature cocktails are delicious. There is three levels of dining and can host small and large groups. This place is casual and kid friendly, but there is no WiFi and cell phone reception is minimal. The main parking lot is not very big, but there is a parking lot across the street. We were seated right away and quickly greeted by our server who did a great job taking care of us. The complimentary Bubble Bread and Sticky Buns were mouthwatering and had to control my urge of wanting to eat all of it before the food came out. We ordered the She Crab Soup for an appetizer then had the Some Like It Hot Hot Hot shrimp dish and Tarzan Cut Prime Rib Weissmuller. Everything was tasty, but the Tarzan Cut Prime Rib was OMG HUGE!!!! It was definitely a show stopper and did my best to tackle it. We hadn't been to the bubble room to eat in 5+ years! We just went on Sunday night and wow what a meal! Everything was fabulous! From the bread basket to the cake the entire meal was wonderful! My father had the French onion soup and said it was great! He loves French onion soup and knows it will! It was a great start to a fabulous meal! We also had the crab soup, tuna stack, filet dinners and prime rib. All were wonderful! My prime rib was cooked to perfection! Just might be the best prime rib I ever had! Some of the best cake slices I've ever had are from the dessert shop at The Bubble Room. The staff were friendly and attentive and since I was a first timer they gave me the run down on their most popular cakes. The cashier told me their biggest seller was the Jamaican rum cake which is a yellow cake with chocolate frosting with of course, Jamaican rum. He said people will literally walk in and buy whole rum cakes and they sell out fast. With that being said, that was my first choice. I took three slices home including the Jamaican rum cake, orange crunch cake, and the tropical breeze. You can tell I like the island theme. All were delicious but the rum cake was definitely number one followed by their popular orange crunch cake. I can safely say I have never been to a restaurant like this before in my life. I'd struggle to even describe this place in a way that does it justice. On arriving to the restaurant, you're greeted by Christmas decorations, a mock gorilla cage to take photos in, and servers dressed in Boy Scout uniforms with beastie boy and other pop culture patches. It was confusing and discordant in the best way possible. When brought to our seats, we sat on the third floor with a model train making a predetermined route above us, passing behind walls and other obstacles that were obscured from my view. A puppet show at one point started in the corner of the room, but I was unsure if any audible lyrics or words were being spoken. It could've easily just been a visual show alone. The table itself had a bunch of different paraphernalia adorned under a glass screen. And the bathrooms! The walls were decorated with 50s/60s style pinups and photos, I can only imagine what the woman's restaurant had as decoration. As far as the food, it was good, albeit sometimes a bit rich. The appetizer bread involved what seemed to be toasted bread with cream cheese and bread crumbs? It tasted delicious but I was only able to stomach one due to how rich it was. I opted for a duck entree and got halfway through before I had to throw in the towel from how full I was. This place will definitely give you your money's worth when it comes to food. If you're looking for an interesting place to eat during your island getaway, give this place a shot! If anything, I find it hard to imagine you'd stumble on a place more interesting than the Bubble Room. read more

Walked in to check it out and was completely disappointed with the place. Old as sin, yeah I get the decorations are the draw but the place smelled and was pretty beat wear & tear wise. No way we're staying - did a 180 and left. While the food may be good/ok the ambience was such a turnoff there's no way we'd go back to try it. Maybe it was "in" 20 years ago, but it's a tourist trap now. So many other great places on the island. It gets really busy during regular dinner hours because everyone wants to watch the sunset! Servers are dressed as boy scouts,there is bizarre collectible items like something straight out of American Pickers. I highly recommend walking around the entire place, there is so much to see. Their menu offers a wide array of options, a tad over priced, but your are paying for theme and atmosphere here. This is a quirky unique and adventurous place especially if you walk around and take in every little detail in all the rooms. Keep in mind this is a theme restaurant and they will serve you with drink and food but anything outside of menu, (I.e. an extra piece of toast with your $20 cheese and bread app) will be delivered with a masked disgruntled attitude and only a cold piece of bread, not toasted but with an ice cold chill to go with their attitude. The food and service just aren't what they used to be - and parking is a disaster. It's definitely fun to look at as a new tourist, but I doubt we'll be returning. My husband, and I stay in Sanibel and come here every year .. and sadly with every year their quality has really declined. The Bubble Bread just takes like Mayo, cheese, and spices on bread - and not in the good way. I love Mayo and couldn't handle the overwhelming Mayo and salty taste. Which is sad cause I have loved it before. The food is either bland or over seasoned. The cakes have also gone down in quality. I absolutely loved the Jamaican Rum Cake - and it tasted like nothing but pure rum! Nothing else just rum! I seriously got buzzed from it - I think they pour a bottle over the cake after it's done. My husband got the red velvet, and it was dry - not the deliciously moist cakes that we had just years ago. One star docked for the tiny bathroom with only two stalls in a 3 story huge restaurant. It's definitely not wheelchair friendly and why do they not have their own dock spot for their customers arriving on boats? We had to pay $35 just to come here. Probably not coming back only because of that. The decor reminds me a Buca Di Peppo but a non Italian version. It's even laid out in separated rooms where you will 100% get lost looking at all the props and toys they have. It was all very kitschy and cute. Our bubble scout waitress was nice but a little unenthused about the shpiel she had to give. I don't blame her on that, it's long. The staff are funny and attentive. The decor is unique and really out there. You can celebrate most all seasons at the Bubble Room. The food is good. For dinner I had the grouper and my husband had the Mahi Mahi. Both were good choices. I can forget to mention the yummy sticky bread and garlic bread you are also getting with your meals. Those are scrumptious and mouth watering. But I will save the best for last. The best was the dessert. (I made sure to only eat 1/2 of my meal for this winner).
