My wife and I decided to take a Tuesday road trip to the Pocono for some gaming. We arrived to find that Mount Airy had a promotion going for a free buffet. We made our points and proceeded to try it out. Previous yelp reviews made us a little leery but some we were having fun we decided to take the casino up on the offer. Boy were we SHOCKED. The food was excellent. The line was super clean and all offering piping hot. The quinoa beet salad was a hit as was the soup (cream of asparagus). Breaded chicken in scampi sauce. Not nuggets but whole sliced breasts. Flank steak cooked to perfect medium. Stuffed wheels. Salad. Taco meat all juicy fresh. A family of 5 happened to be seated nearby and the young girls asked where the sushi was. Unfortunately no sushi. Don't hesitate prices are reasonable for the quality and ambiance. I think I came to this restaurant knowing that less then $20 a person is not going to get me top notch food. Most Casino buffets are expensive and elaborate. I felt that the price made sense with what was provided. I did not have high expectations to begin with. The food was good... not great... not horrible. I do not think I ate anything I did not like. Just nothing was excellent. There could have been some more options, especially for soups, and side dishes. A lot of starch foods. Some more vegetable dishes would have been nice. What bothered me the most was the dessert section. It was a total mess. Just messy! Looked like it had not been cleaned in a while. Also the section was so tiny that they had pies lined up in the back of the kitchen, and on the shelf behind the counter where you could barely see them. Therefore you had to ask one of the busy cooks what the pies were, and they had to serve it to you. They really should find a better system for that. Let me first say that I am not a fan of buffets, in general. I hate the idea of fighting through tons of people to get your food. I prefer to be served my food instead of constantly having to get up, etc., etc. - you get my point. That being said, my wife and I were meeting up with a group of people and they wanted to go here so that's what we did. Some basics - conveniently located right off the casino floor and $21.99 per person ($2 off with your players card). We ended up going for the seafood fest/buffet that they have on Friday nights. The overall selection was pretty good and I must say that it was one of the nicer buffets that I have been to. The main attraction was the crab legs - they were served cold which I thought was a little strange and not my preference. The crab legs were just OK - nothing special. There was also peel n eat shrimp, a carving station and they also advertised sushi. The sushi was nothing more than just some California rolls so I was a little disappointed by that. The meat they had at the carving station was OK. I did happen to like the seafood ravioli that was in the "Italian" section - I thought that was one of the better items at the buffet. I think the best part of the buffet was the dessert. They had a pretty massive spread of different cakes, pies, cheesecakes, ice creams, etc. I had a piece of a chocolate type cheesecake and it was actually very good. Overall, it was an OK meal. It isn't the type of place that I would come back to on my own but not a terrible value at $20/person. The place can also get pretty packed, so you may also have to wait a little to get seated. Cold food!!! Been there twice. The first time we was feeling nauseous after we left. Last nite right after we left it hit us hard. We couldn't even make it to the car. Don't expect this place to be the like anything you will find on the Vegas strip, or even Atlantic city. The food looked and tasted as if it was siting there too long. Food is like regular cafeteria food. I am glad I only paid $9.99. The bad: bread sticks were hard and old, pastas had no real flavor. I think first there isn't much variety, not worth my money. Half of it was wasted on salad and lemons and sauses. The only seafood was cold shrimp and king crabs. The others were cooked was like salmon, cod and others I don't remember. The steak where the person helps you cut was really good if you asked for the cooked one. Not big fan of red and bloody steak. Even when its cooked, it not like hard or stiff. The dessert was pretty good from what my friends said. I am not that big of a fan of desserts so I didn't try it. Slow service, me and my friends were already finished with like three plates and they still didn't come to collect our plates. For a resort hotel I did wish the buffet had a lot more selections, and at least a few more healthy options. But everything we ate seemed to be prepared properly and tasted good. As far as greens and vegetables, there was salad (very fresh, thank you), zucchini, carrots, and green beans. All the vegetables were cooked nicely, not overdone and mushy, so that was also a plus. As far as fish and meats, it was hard to find anything without a sauce except at the carving board. I scraped the sauce off my salmon and enjoyed it, as it was moist and juicy. Same for the swai--tasty. The slice of roast beef I tried from the carving board was rare and tender. We are limiting our calories and fat right now, so we didn't try the pizza or any of the breaded or fried options. There was a bit of a wait to get in, which I don't think I can fault the restaurant for unless they were short-staffed. It WAS the dinner hour. Every staff person I encountered was pleasant and helpful. Soft drinks and coffee were included, and the coffee the waiter brought out was surprisingly delicious for what you'd expect at a buffet. For a buffet, this is a good one. The Friday night seafood buffet is always busy. We go to the Friday buffet at least once a month. Friday is the night they have crab legs. For crab legs from a buffet, these are good. Much better than any of the buffets in Atlantic City. My only complaint is the service is hit or miss. Good buffet, but nothing particularly great. I enjoyed the salmon and Asian fare the most. The ribs and chicken were a little too salty for my taste. Nice selection of desserts and fruits. Not a lot of seafood. I expected crab legs or something better than four bowls of basically the same kind of shrimp. Lox was available. I don't know what they do to their biscuits but they're crispy and on the sweet side. Delicious with their special gravy (which I loved). I waited a bit to get in, but service wasn't bad. Been going there for a few years and food is just ok. They always seem to have the same food and they need to change up a little. Shrimp is always overcooked very soft and hard to peel. Dessert is always good with a large variety of cakes, cheesecake, pudding and soft serve ice cream. Reasonable prices and every Wednesday is senior night so cost is only 11.99. read more

We chose to eat there based on the website - "Our seafood station alone features fresh gulf shrimp, snow crab, lox and smoked whitefish..." No lox and no snow crab. When I asked the waitress, I was told Fridays and Sunday brunch - no other time. I would have eaten somewhere else with fresh, hot food had I known that. My family went to the buffet at Mt. Airy casino a few weeks ago. I read online what food they offered but was disappointed once I got there. For the $18.99 per person price, I just didn't feel like it was worth it. The crab legs were sopped in salty water; barely edible. I know crab legs at buffets aren't the best however, I've tasted better crab legs at a local China Buffet! The best thing I had was the salad bar. I went to this Buffett 3 times while my wife and I stayed at this resort. The first night was on a friday which is seafood fest night. I do not like crabs but my wife does so I was very happy to go because I love seeing her happy. Dang! They blew it. The crabs were sitting on ice they were freezing and hard to pick. We are from Maryland and Maryland serves hot steamed crab legs. Maybe it's a Pennsylvania way of eating crabs, Im not sure. She also said the shrimp was ice cold as well. I am not a big seafood eater, so I focused on the other items. Wow, can I say how disappointed I was? The food was lukewarm and some spots of the food like the beefaroni was cold. We walked out the first night paying $10 extra each because it was seafood feat night and disappointed. The next two visits were better. The food was hot and tastier but there wasn't a big variety like you get at other resorts. All in all it was an ok place to eat. Not worth the $42 per person on seafood fest night tho. read more

Usually casino buffets are pretty good but this might of been frozen to table. Pasta of the day looked dry. Food is not labeled so you have to guess at some of the items. It was good because the food was all fresh. The workers were nice and cool. It was pretty empty because it was late. It closes early at like 8 but they will let you stay until about 9. The price was decent but it changes from day to day. It's very clean and its not really big but its comfortable. There isn't a large range of food but it isn't that big of a place anyways and not many people stop by probably. The desserts looked and were very good. Came to the buffet because the last time I was at the resort (a couple of years ago) it was wonderful. Well well well. The food has certainly changed. All the meat (marinated steak, carved steak and chicken) was WELL DONE to the point of oblivion. I mean, I want the food cooked but I trust, at the door, that it was already killed once. No need to do it twice. All of the sides had no flavor. There were 3 desserts, TOTAL. One was a cherry cobbler, one was cheesecake and the other was a chocolate cake. I tasted a little of the cobbler and cheesecake. Average Acme market fare. I didn't even bother with the cake as it looked dry. Maybe I'm used to the extensive buffets in AC or Las Vegas but what little was offered wasn't very good. Since I was the youngest person in the restaurant, I gathered that they do this because their target market (80 and above) likes their food bland. Nothing against older people but if they want to strip the food of flavor, they should have a flavored section and a non-flavored section. Won't be returning. read more
