We had a late lunch on their patio this afternoon on our way out of town and were absolutely delighted with our visit! We sat on the patio, in the shade, at a cozy little table for 2. The French onion fondue was SO good as our starter. I would have expected it to be very salty but it wasn't, it was perfectly balanced and the crusty bread it's served with had the most fantastic amount of crisp and char to it! I ordered the falafel Gyro and my partner had the French dip. Now, both of us can be pretty darn particular about certain things but this place was a home run on every level. We both loved our sandwiches (he actually drank the jus after he finished his) and he got the Caesar salad for his side and said it was phenomenal as well.... He rarely says that! We will surely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

We had dinner at the Burrow on Thursday evening (3/22) and I must say it was fantastic. I had the Black Cod and I am still thinking about how good it was 4 days later. My spouse and another friend dining with us had the Salmon, which was also really good and perfectly prepared, but go with the Black Cod! Everything about the Burrow was good, the atmosphere, our Server named Heaven, was also spot on and a delight. Incredibly noisy environment. Not what I was expecting. To be honest, it was a Saturday night so that may be the norm.

We have eaten here several times since Burrow opened. The food and service have been consistently good. Yesterday the gazpacho was excellent---large serving with nice mixture of ingredients and flavors. Lobster roll has good quality lobster. Traverse City is not an inexpensive food town, but Burrow delivers good food and service consistent with area pricing if not better. We had an excellent lunch. Always a top five consideration/recommendation. read more

First time at this restaurant. Most of the food was good and the service was prompt. However, I was disappointed that the Gyro did not include any, ah, actual gyro. It had felafals, which were nice. But no gyro meat. In every other city I have been to, gyro means meat (typically a mix of lamb, beef, sometimes chicken) roasted on a spit that rotates. That's where the name comes from. When I mentioned this to the manager he said others had also reported this issue. read more

The service and food at this place were amazing! Came here for lunch with a group of girls. We ordered a few starters for the table, including the crab cakes, French onion fondue, lettuce wraps, and tuna tostadas, and it was all sooo flavorful and delicious. I tried the burger that my friend ordered and it was one of the best I've had. I got a Caesar salad since I was stuffed from starters and it was good! I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Traverse City! I can't remember our waiter's name but he was so attentive, sweet, and accommodating! read more

We had a great experience at The Burrow! It has a really breezy vibe, and the natural color palette is nice. We started with the bread service--grilled and buttered. Then we had the cacio e pepe pasta with broccolini and the mahi mahi. The pasta was delicious with a perfect peppery sauce, and the broccolini was cooked to the right crisp-tender. The fish was great with corn and mushrooms. The Burrow also has a really excellent kids' menu! Not the standard chicken tenders and grilled cheese! Our kids both had a rice bowl with shrimp, and the side options were varied too--cooked carrots, fruit, cucumbers/carrots with dip, fries, etc. Our daughter loved the kiddie cocktail options too. The wait staff was also excellent! And while the cocktail options were delicious, the bar staff also concocted me a drink based on my specific preferences. My hubby & I checked out The Burrow for the first time this Valentine's Day!! We had heard only great things about it & wanted to see what the hype was all about. Ashley D. Was our server and I must say she may have been the best server I have ever had!! Her enthusiasm & great energy was radiant. But quite frankly, all the service was impeccable. Fresh in all ways! This sweet boutique cafe is bright and cheery with a beautiful bar. We happened in for a late lunch and were thrilled with the surprise of a happy hour menu. Not drinking today, we opted to try an array of small plates. Delicious sliders with the perfect amount of flavor, loaded potato with blue cheese and herbs and lardon. The potato leek soup was so creamy and flavorful. Our server was great. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu. Can't wait to go back and have dinner as the dinner menu sounds wonderful. Its an odd location. It feels like you are eating at a hospital cafeteria. The staff is super nice. Its decent food but pretty expensive for what you get. I added a star bc I realized all they really need to do is turn the lights down. It is waaaay to bright. read more

I had the opportunity recently to dine at The Burrow a restaurant I have been looking forward in trying. We arrived around 5 ish and it was rather busy with seating inside and out. We as usual chose to sit at the bar. My friend ordered a Oberon but after looking the bartender told us they must be out of it. He made a second selection. I wasn't drinking. We ordered Salmon and Tuna tostada. We also had a order of bread which was $6.00. My salmon arrived by itself with the bread and tostada arriving separately later.My friend was surprised the Tuna was raw and didn't resemble any tostata he's had. It definitely was more like poke, I agreed. The bread was grilled and basically burnt. My salmon was good. We paid our bill when finished and left disappointed . I doubt we will return preferring to stick with their other 2 efforts Mama Lus and The Flying Noodle two restaurants we enjoy. IF I COULD GIVE IT 6 STARS I WOULD!! I had the scallops and I think they were the best thing I've ever tasted, crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside. The risotto was so creamy with a hint of lemon. The flavors were an insane explosion in my mouth, I think I went to heaven. The food and speed of delivery was excellent. The noise level was ear splitting. Even our waitress joked about how loud it was in there . We were seated at a booth that was not designed to seat 4 people . Once seated you could not move or stretch out your legs. They are very busy, so maybe that is the way you won't stay too long. I had the mussels which were served unshelled.. DH had the ribeye and he said is was perfectly done and tasty. Their house salad with their house vinaigrette was nicely appointed. We will go again in warmer weather when we could sit outside and it would be quieter. read more

This was our second visit after our first visit was disappointing and frustrating. I'm sorry we gave them a second chance. Traverse City needs more dining options, and we've had really high hopes for The Burrow. They rushed us through our 2nd visit- a record 41 minutes to dine start to finish- it was very clear, they did not want us there! We didn't even attempt to order cocktails this time and I'd suggest you stick to cocktails as listed on the menu, and don't veer- (mezcal & tequila are wildly different and are not interchangeable). The wine offerings are decent, I enjoyed the Lapus Luna Pinot Noir. It's hot on the porch under the the overhang. If you can snag a table closer to the street, you'll get the breeze. All of our food was overly salted. The items we ordered have potential, though. The French dip at The Burrow is the only decent French dip in town. And, minus the aioli, it's a great option. Compound the salt in the sandwich and the salt in the au jus though and you're clamoring for water. The french fries are neither here nor there-- too salty, too thin, not memorable. The fish was good, too, very salty as well. The green bean appetizer and the California wedge are delicious. We can't comment on dessert because they cleared the dessert menu with the dishes as the bill was left simultaneously. The restaurant is owned by a small group that owns two other concept (tacos, pasta) restaurants on Front Street. They both serve a purpose and after two visits to The Burrow, their newest restaurant is very similar in that it too serves a purpose. And given the way they deliberately shortened our dining experience when we were trying to give them a second chance says a lot about how they don't really want feedback from locals. read more

We were not aware of this restaurant until my stepdaughter wanted to meet up here for dinner. The food was very good. My husband had the fish and chips and said that it was the best he'd ever had. I had steak which was cooked to perfection. I don't usually use steak sauce on my steak but I tasted theirs and it was very good so I did use it. Both my stepdaughter and her boyfriend declared that the tartar sauce served with the fish and chips was the best they'd ever had. My husband didn't use his. He said the fish was so tasty, he didn't need it! I will also praise the service. Lily was great! There was one negative. It was VERY noisy in there! They need to improve the acoustics. read more

Went to The Burrow on their second night and was amazed. Inside is just gorgeous. Some places have a modern look but feel cold, The Burrow does the modern look while giving off a clean and fresh vibe. The staff was amazing! We've gotten used to so many restaurants not having enough staff but not only did we have a wonderful server, but a couple of people also checked on us during our visit to make sure we were enjoying our experience. Finally, I can't say enough about the food. We started with the pork belly tostadas and loved them. Next we tried the tuna crudo, which I thought was a kind of a unique take on sushi. Finally, we split the blackened fish sammie which also was amazing. All three of our selections, tasted great and offered unique flavor combinations. We'll be back to The Burrow on our next visit to TC. read more

Enjoyed an October weekday lunch along with many others. Glad we made reservations. Warm and friendly service and environment. We both had soup and sandwich. All delicious with very fresh taste especially like the unique seasonings. Has room for a very generous serving of delicious warm apple cobbler with ice cream. We stopped in the off season. The staff definitely pays more attention to their regulars, which is fine. They pay the bills in the off times. Our server was nice enough and we wanted for nothing. She took our orders, and brought drinks. My wife doesn't like seasoning on her fries, so when they came out seasoned, the server realized it when she sat them down and went to get ones with no seasoning without have to point it out. That was refreshing. All the food we had was really good. They do have great fries. We had a Nashville chicken sandwich and fish and chips. Both were great. The chicken isn't a make you numb spicy, just nicely warm. We left pretty happy with everything. Will definitely visit again when in the area read more

What a great addition to West Bay! Hubs and I had date night there the other night. The atmosphere is like an upscale, coastal diner. Good selection of beers on tap. I had the squirtzki and it was so refreshing, without being overly sweet! The mussels were ah-mazing and they give so much bread with it (bonus)! The fish and chips were also so so good. The batter had a little malt vinegar taste on it, which we both loved! The lobster roll was just ok. I didn't love the consistency (shredded vs chunked) or the seasoning on top - BUT it also wasn't the $28 you'd pay in Maine. We thought the prices were very fair and the food is some of the best we've had in TC. Service was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back! read more
