Not impressed. I ordered med steak. Bartender said it would come pink in the middle. No, it was completely gray, way over done. Yes, I should've said something but I wasn't even asked, how is your steak? If I was I would've said too overdone. The flavor was good. Even the french fries were not good. The new location at Legacy Place is beautiful. Very tastefully decorated, large bar and plenty of distance between patrons keeping the noise level very manageable. All people in our party had steaks-fillet, Kona NY strip, NY sirloin strip-all cooked perfectly-staff helpful and attentive. We had beet salad and clam chowder appetizers which were delicious they signature drink was very good- I was slightly reluctant since it has so recently opened that they had not had enough time to work out any kinks in the operation. My fiancé and I noticed the new opening (we are big fans) and wanted to enjoy a meal after a long day of shopping. Service Upon entering, you are met with hostesses. There is one particular hostess who is not pleasant. Just when we didn't think it would get worse when leaving, a ton of staff were congregated at the desk just chatting. We were not acknowledged until we were at the exit door but 1 out of many that were standing by the desk. At an upscale restaurant, I expected so much more and I'm disappointed. The managers should have been aware of this and stop this behavior. Our waitress was OK and the wait staff was quick to refill our drinks. Food Our steaks were overly burnt and not cooked to the correct temperature we asked for. Our fries were overcooked and therefore were too hard for our liking. The oysters were smaller than we expected but tasted decent. Overall, I wasn't fond of this location. It's new and looks great but that's about it. Celebrated a late afternoon Easter dinner (and a special anniversary of the day we met), and, as we expected, the restaurant was bustling with activity. The decor is upscale and very inviting. We were warmly greeted and escorted to our table without any wait. There appeared to be plenty of staff, and just after we were seated, a member of the server team delivered water and a bread basket. Our server, Brianna, was fantastic! Brianna quickly took our drink choices and reappeared with them in minutes. She was very attentive, made great suggestions as to menu choices, was friendly and engaging and did not disappear during the meal plus gave us plenty of time between the starter and main courses. The sommelier, Jenny, was extremely knowledgable and helpful as we selected a bottle of Post and Beam Cab . Our meal choices: to share-- crab/lobster cake with a delicious aioli sauce (some of the ingredients of that aioli recipe were a mystery for us and Brianna--perhaps the chef's secret); then, for me, sliced filet mignon with a mushroom/fig drizzle--OMG fabulous; my husband enjoyed the seared tenderloin with lobster--beyond expectation--he loved it! And to top off a wonderful evening, Brianna delivered a special dessert. As we left our table, Brianna reappeared and gave us a box of special cookies (which we had been discussing earlier)! Our server Adrian was fantastic. Very friendly, funny and helpful. Asked for a red wine recommendation because I'm not a big wine drinker and I wanted to try some. He gave a great recommendation, which I enjoyed, and he explained why he chose it. The beet salad was delicious. I follow a vegan diet and Adrian took it very seriously and made sure the chef prepared my dishes accordingly. They were able to make me a stir fry with rice for a vegan option. The Capitol Grille at Legacy Place is a five (5) star operation! We know this after having a private room, holiday dinner party for 24, last week. In a nutshell, Mike the head chef and his kitchen team provided excellent food, beautifully presented from appetizers to desserts. The steaks were perfectly cooked. All entrees were served hot. The service capitan James and his team were both professional and personable. Jobs well done! A special note on the acqoustics of the dining room. Well, as a longtime guest of Capitol and have had countless top notch meals there, I believe that same quality has been carried over to this new location in Dedham. The bar is large and can accommodate a busy evening crowd but unfortunately, once these Dedham customers get planted, they will not leave those bar seats after finishing a meal. If your looking for a more upscale dress up evening, I would suggest another location. Customers show up on Saturday evening dressed in ball caps, sweats and tee shirts like they left the local gym or sports bar. Seriously. Don't bother with your nice dinner outfit or dress shirt and jacket here. The cocktails are typical Capitol Style. Well made and prepared to perfection. The bartenders were friendly and surprisingly attentive considering the busy bar. I just hope those people camped out for hours at the bar tipped them well. The Hosts/Hostesses were friendly and greeted in a professional manner then promptly directed you to the seating available. Of course I had to try my Capitol salad and it didn't disappoint. Crisp, fresh and a nice mix of dressing that was not over done. Plenty of parking though you will probably need to park on the lower level on weekend evenings. I will return to sample my go Steak in the coming week and it update my review. So far they are looking great. read more

Went to the Dedham location last night with my wife. We first went to the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. Despite being in my mid fifties, I was carded and we were denied drinks because I did not have my ID. I thought it was a joke at first. It was truly one of the most humiliating and infuriating moments of my dining experiences. Thank god we were not sitting with clients and ordering an expensive bottle of wine. Anyway, after expressing our shock to the manager we left immediately. We ended up at Legal C where we were told that CG has been caught so many times serving minors that they will be shut down if caught again. Pathetic experience, will never go back. We went here on Valentine's Day without a reservation in hopes to just snag a seat at the bar for dinner. After 20 minutes we were able to grab two seats. Our bartender, Naomi, was fantastic and knows how to make a great drink!!! She was so friendly, warm and welcoming. She gave us great suggestions and mentioned special items that were not on the regular menu. We ordered the lobster and crab cake with lemon basil aioli as an appetizer and it was so flavorful! The aioli was perfect and not over powering. For our meals, I ordered the seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster tail and my partner ordered the Gorgonzola crusted dry aged NY strip. Both were fantastic! The sides we ordered were great, too. At the end of the meal, Naomi suggested the coconut cream pie and it was SO GOOD!!! Highly recommend coming here for dinner. First time eating at CG in Dedham with a party of four. Valet parking was nice. Hostess was pleasant and waitress was the best. Too bad the food was not. My NY sirloin steak was tough on one end and mealy on the other but flavorable in the middle like something that was frozen. The veal chop was less than desirable and the fillet steak was mediocre. The sides were also sub par as well. The asparagus looked like something left over at the Boston Public Market. The potatoes au gratin was mushy and definitely premade. In top of this the room was cold. The AC must have been on. Very uncomfortable eating when you're cold! Don't expect to have a classy dress up date here. Most patrons were dressed in very casual clothing. Definitely not your upscale Boston dining experience. In closing the layout and decor was pleasing and the rest room was clean. If you are a business or a small group and are thinking of holding a dinner at this Capital grill or any of their locations, Go to Ruth Chris or anywhere else. We spent $1500 for the room charge minimum and had some guests cancel at the last moment. Given that we were only going to order about $625 on food we asked the manager if he could give us a few appetizers . He refused to give us anything because it was not on the contract with them ! So they made an $825 profit on us without giving us any additional food! This type of treatment to companies or groups is pathetic and shows how much they really don't care about their customers! We will never use capital grill again for any of our events nor will we ever go there again even on our own. There are a lot of good restaurants that appreciate your business . I assure you the capital grill chain is not one of them. Avoid at all cost!! read more

Always great food and service here. The restaurant is beautiful. The wait staff is fantastic. Can't beat the steaks here. Always perfectly cooked and delicious. The tuna tartare and the calamari apps are great. The mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and asparagus are my go to sides. The bone in filet is a game changer. For desert the crème brûlée and an espresso martini are a great ending. I highly recommend this location. read more
