I don't usually like going into casinos, but this French onion soup was absolutely worth the hassle of parking and walking through the casino. It was hands down the best French onion soup I've ever had, and I'd consider myself a bit of a connoisseur. Josh was an excellent server. My partner and I came in last night to celebrate her birthday and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. About halfway through our meal, a child at the table directly next to us vomited all over the table and floor beside us. While we completely understand that accidents happen and do not blame the family whatsoever, the way the situation impacted the rest of our evening was extremely disappointing. The restaurant ultimately had to wait for a hazmat team to come in and clean the area, which meant we were sitting through the smell, disruption, and overall unsanitary atmosphere during what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. At that point, the experience was completely ruined and there was no salvaging the evening. What was most disappointing was the lack of care or hospitality afterward. I spoke to someone named Brandon while we were there and asked for a business card or contact information, and was simply told he "didn't have one." No apology was offered, no meaningful acknowledgment was made regarding the situation, and there was no attempt to make things right despite how obviously uncomfortable and disruptive the experience had become. We spent a significant amount of money expecting an enjoyable steakhouse experience and instead left frustrated, uncomfortable, and incredibly disappointed. I also attempted to contact the restaurant directly afterward and was unable to get ahold of anyone. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and reaches out, because this was an awful way to spend what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. read more

AMAZING!!!! DELICIOUS!!! FANTASTIC!!! Wow!! I haven't had a steak that tasted pretty close to how my dad makes it. My dad was a chef and I always compare food to his. My dad passed away and I miss his cooking...when I tasted this steak...I automatically felt a sense of comfort and at the same time deliciousness! It so happened that my mom and brother were both with me to experience this AMAZING DELICIOUSNESS. They also agreed that the food was very very close to my dad's. It was EXCELLENT! The service was Fantastic! The servers were all great! They sure know all about hospitality. The ambiance was very nice and elegant. A beautiful place for any celebration. We plan on visiting again soon. It may not the cheapest place BUT the food and service is worth every penny. I highly recommend going here at least once. We wanted to do something different this Easter so we figured we'd go out. We didn't want a "brunch" or buffet and so we looked at Santa Fe, they were open for Easter dinner at 1:00 PM, so we figured we could combine our brunch time with their Easter and traditional menu. Made a Rez for 1:00, figured it would be crowded, doors opened at 1:00 and could you believe it? it was empty . The whole time we were there only 4 other tables we're occupied. Asked our server and she figured it would get busy later. I think, that perhaps they didn't advertise the early opening since it usually opens at 5:00. Anyway, Diane was our server (we've had her table many times before) she was assisted by Juan and Andres. Bread was brought out, a mix of pretzel, raisin and sourdough. Replenished once without question. I had my usual Tito's martini with extra olives for protein. We split a Caesar salad. My dining companion opted for the bone in NY steak with a baked sweet potato and sautéed spinach . I opted for the porterhouse rather than my usual rib-eye. With a gigundo baked potato. Service was quick, the salad was expected, not huge but split two ways it was fine. Our steaks were butter tender and cooked just right (yeah 1/2 the cost of a steak on the strip) Spinach and taters were fine. The Charcoal Room is a Steakhouse with two locations in Vegas. I had a spectacular dinner and service last time here (Santa Fe Location). Justin and the whole team were welcoming and helpful. The Chilean Sea Bass Special and the Ribeye were incredible. Everything was perfection. I had reservations for an early dinner. We were the second table seated. I was surprised that the hostess sat us right next to another table in a big (at the time) empty room. - anyways We had a different server and the special did sound good but we came to try the burgers so that is what we ordered. In reasonable time the burgers do arrive. Both burgers had the same problem. Both were cooked unevenly and both were over cooked. Mine was worst because I ordered mine medium and mine was part past well done and dried out. Maybe the worst part is that our server didn't even bother to check on us. After we were done with what we had we pushed the plates to the side. Then the server asked if I wanted a box since I left half for my dogs. I said yes and then we were asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. I Generously gave three stars averaging a great experience and a "could have been much better experience." read more

I was very disappointed on this visit. I usually recommend the charcoal room to visitors but now I'm rethinking that. The seafood tower was a plate with a raw lobster, sandy oysters, and a couple of shell on shrimp (not prawns) oh yes, and a dining cup of vinegar ( why I have no idea. I wanna start this by saying the service here was amazing, super sweet and on top of everything. But.... Food was beyond subpar for the amount of money spent in this place. For the amount of ingredients seemingly placed on the baked potatoes, no flavor came through. The salmon was more on the fishy side than the buttery flakiness it should have been. I've had beef tartar many places but the consistency of this one made me gag. Same with the oyster but that might be on me. I'm not big on oysters to begin with I just wanted to try something new. The mushrooms were actually pretty good. But lastly the Mac and cheese also was pretty bad... it seemed they didn't know how much salt to put on anything...either too much or none. Usually, I love this place. We went to the bar for happy hour on Father's Day. We were told when we got there they weren't serving the regular bar bites. They should have posted this! Anyway, we ordered the Father's Day menu appetizer lobster something. It was terrible! Bland & tasteless. Zucchini chips definitely were an add on to make it look better. Not good! We used to come here often years ago and it was amazing. We decided to try it out again and came away a bit disappointed. We both ordered the filet mignon (medium) and then got sides of crispy potato and yams. We also got the calamari appetizer and a chopped steakhouse salad. The calamari was average but the salad was good. The presentation of the food was good but my steak was very red, while my wife's had no red. How that happens at a steak restaurant where both were asked to be medium, I'm not sure. The yams were overly sweet and the crispy potato was subpar. Overall with two glasses of wine and tip, it was a $250 meal. There was also a loud beeping noise the entire meal that got drowned out a bit when it started getting busier. Came by for happy hour and was not disappointed. The happy hour has drinks and bar bites at half price every day from 4 pm - 530 pm at the bar only. The bar area was pretty busy but the bartenders maintained the bar well. Regarding the food, you will want to order these during happy hour as opposed to their normal price because $16 - $17 is pretty disappointing given the portion sizes. Price aside, the food was good as well but I still think the drinks stole the show. If you're in the Santa Fe and looking for a happy hour, I would recommend stopping by here. This resturant is inside the Santa Fe Casino close to where we live so we decide to give it a try. We had reservations at 645pm and they were seating on time. It was Valentine's Day so a little busy. The service was good and the staff tried to be attentive but they were busy so it wasn't as good as we expected. We had ordered the wedge salad which was very good and they split it for us in kitchen. We also ordered the salmon and scallops which both were good but the scallops definitely the best. We split a side of macaroni and cheese which was more than enough for us. I was good but a little on the rich side so had to finish up. The Crème Burlee was probably one of the best we have had and definitely a highlight of our evening. The inside atmosphere is nice however the bar and it's seating is in the center and regular dining seating is located around it. Unfortunately, we go seated along the side of the bar so the noise level was high and it was difficult to hear the live music and each other. The seating is also closer than we expected so it was not as intimate and private as we would have preferred. The live musician was a nice touch along with the complimentary photographer who's was taking your photo. Parking of course is free and easy. Overall, we had a good experience. read more

The short version: Service was less than stellar. Food was ok. Pretty disappointing when compared to the meals we've had there before. Not sure we'll go back. Long version: We had a reservation for 4 at 6:30pm on Tuesday night (7/29/25) to celebrate 2 birthdays. We told the hostess this when she asked if we had any special occasions to celebrate, and she marked it down before taking us to our table. Noise level was reasonable; the place wasn't packed by any means with lots of open tables and only 2 guys sitting at the bar where they had baseball on the TV. My husband and I ordered from the signature cocktail menu while waiting for our friends. The waiter thought they may have been out of the Bulleit rye for the Manhattan - should have been our first indication it was not going to be a great experience. They did have it...but did not have the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc we wanted. When we did get our bottle of Fume' Blanc, it sat on the table for at least 20 minutes until my husband asked for an ice bucket to keep it chilled - that should have been automatic. Our waiter barely mentioned the specials, referring only to "a surf and turf that the casino does and halibut." When asked for more info about the halibut, his response was "It's just halibut." We had to pry out info about how it was prepared, sauces, etc. The calamari was tasty and came out hot. Gem salad and lobster bisque were also good. Three of us opted for the surf and turf after finding out it was a petite filet and 4 oz lobster tail. All of our steaks were done perfectly (I ordered medium rare), but my lobster tail was not hot at all. The sides were ok - I've had better macaroni and cheese at multiple places, but the charred corn and the grilled asparagus were good. Our servers changed before the meal ended - our original one couldn't seem to get out fast enough. Finally, dessert. We were asked about dessert and opted for the flourless chocolate cake. It was meh - I've had much better. The birthdays we were there to celebrate? Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Not even a couple of candles on the cake we ordered. Overall, a pretty disappointing experience. We split the bone-in ribeye and were blown away--it was huge, bursting with flavor, and perfectly seasoned. It was just a tad undercooked for our taste, but honestly, we loved it that way. You could tell it was high-quality meat, cooked with care. For sides, we had the corn, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach--all delicious--but the real star of the show was the Brussels sprouts. Not sure what kind of voodoo magic they used, but they were out of this world. Crispy, flavorful, and totally addictive. Service was top notch. Went their for Father's Day. It was less than amazing to be honest. We have eaten there before and it was delicious. This time, especially for what we paid, it was disappointing. Service itself was pretty good, though it felt rushed. The food was not great. I ordered a filet-undercooked to where is was like chewing a gummy bear and they randomly put two small grape tomatoes on the plate (totally lazy plating). My husband got the prime rib, same thing-under cooked worse than mine. My son got the hamburger and fries-he ate half and the fries he said were horrible. My other son got the fried chicken which he seemed to enjoy. The mashed potatoes were good, the mac and cheese seemed really old and just reheated. Five star experience when you consider the dedication the staff have to making sure your food is exactly as you like it to be. My family and I came to The Charcoal Room for a celebration. My partner ordered a medium rare steak. When he had cut into it he noticed it was a little blue. Before even looking up from his steak, one of the waiters noticed immediately and swooped in to save the meal. The steak was recooked and once it was back on the table, three different employees crowded around to watch the first cut and make sure it was to our liking. It was, and the steak was well seasoned. My entree was a pan-seared salmon, served eith creamy mashed potatoes, and sautéed spinach. The salmon was expertly seasoned - a touch salty, yes, but this was balanced by the richness of the potatoes and the freshness of the spinach. My husband opted for the bone-in ribeye, and we shared the incredibly smooth and flavorful mashed potatoes. His ribeye was exceptional; the seasoning was spot-on and the meat itself was unbelievably tender. Beyond the delicious food, the service was awesome. As usual the customer service here is always good, everyone is friendly and attentive. I always enjoyed the atmosphere at this location, to me, it has an old fashion charm and ambiance that can make one feel comfortable. Sitting at the bar, I ordered a drink and placed my food order. As usual, my bread basket arrived and I always love the pretzel bread with butter. I ordered the sliders special, they were good and the steak fries were ok, perhaps too salty for my taste. I did enjoy the steak on it, cooked very well. Maybe that's what I should've ordered, a steak. I've never had a bad steak from here. Overall, it was nice to be back again. This pains me so much to write this negative review about Charcoal Room. We started eating here about 3 1/2 years ago with great experiences across the board. Good food, great service and reasonable prices! Well folks those days are now over. we went there this past Sunday night only to sadly see that the place was empty and could feel that change was in the air. They have raised their prices and reduced the portion sizes. The food quality was that of a cheap after hours diner. I mean simply horrible from beginning to end!!! Horrible apps, horrible sides and horrible steaks. The bill was just under $500.00 for the 4 of us including tip. One drink each, one app each and 3 entrees as 2 of us split an entree. I'm sure that there has been a change in management to someone that thinks cutting quality to save money was a good idea, it wasn't!!! Reservation for 4 as we had guests. 10 minutes and no water, had to ask for bread even after we ordered, no oil and vinegar as requested, asked the manager about the restaurant rating and they stated between and 3.8 and 4. For a steakhouse this place was mid for me. I loved the service, our waiter was so comical and made our valentines day super special however the food was just mid. We started off with some oysters and they were rather small. For the price of 6 half shell I was expecting more. Typically smaller oysters are sweeter and more of a low quality oyster in my opinion. Our waiter chose a 9 ounce pour of a certain cabernet, I'm not sure which brand it was but it was very delightful. I felt like it paired oh so well with my filet mignon however, my filet mignon was a bit dry. I requested medium rare and felt like it was cooked more on the medium well side. This was the best steakhouse experience I have had at any Station Casino steakhouse, and I've tried them all except the new Durango. I started with an appetizer special for the evening--three crab cakes, about 2.5 inches in diameter each. They were all chunks of crab with just enough filler to hold the crab in place. They were heated and had browned bottoms. Excellent start! For the main course, I ordered their 10 ounce Allen Brothers filet and an order of grilled asparagus. The steak was red throughout, the way I ordered it. It was also very tender and seasoned perfectly. The grilled asparagus was quite good. Besides regular pepper to season the asparagus, it seemed from the flavor that the chef used a bit of cayenne to give the asparagus some jazz! There was a bit of a bite to it. It was wonderful. For dessert, I tried something new--their Basque cake. It's made with a short dough crust, pastry cream, and topped with a red wine poached pear half. The cake was smooth and super tasting! My server was Matthew. He was excellent. He and his crew kept my iced tea filled. There was just the right amount of time between courses to check my phone (solo diner), and I watched a hockey game as I ate. There is a bit of a wait for the crab cakes, but they are not pre-made and are heated, and it takes a little time. There's no problem relaxing and waiting for this goodness! I've been wanting to check out the Charcoal room for a while now, so I finally made reservations for my family and we were all excited because we love steakhouses! The Charcoal Room is located inside the Santa Fe Casino, and it is a bit hidden but next to Leticia's Restaurant past the open bar. We made a reservation for 5 PM which is when they open. We arrived about 10-15 minutes early and there was already a line so I definitely recommend a reservation. We waited our turn in line and checked in with a very nice host and maybe the manager for the night. We had requested a booth for dinner through our reservation, but they said they didn't have any available but could give us a half booth with chairs on the other side. I was a little disappointed since we requested a full booth at reservation. Either way, we were happy to be there and have a great evening. It took a while for our waiter to show up, which was a theme for the whole night, but he was very nice and helpful. We ordered drinks while we looked at the menu and the drinks took a very long time. When we got our drinks we also ordered some appetizers. This again took a very long time to get and we actually had another drink while waiting. We ordered some soup and then our entrees, but each took very long to get and little if any check in by the waiter. Keep in mind, this is a small restaurant that was not full at all. For appetizers we ordered the Oyster Rockefeller and Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. The Rockefeller was mostly Spinach with some cheese but hard to find any Oyster in there and it wasn't really baked enough. It's crazy because the Oyster Bar at Santa Fe has amazing Oysters. The Shrimp was pretty good, with the sauce being the best thing...I liked it but not everybody did. We also ordered the French Onion soup and Lobster Bisque...we all had been craving both. The French Onion soup was absolutely on point and awesome! The Lobster Bisque was pretty good but not a hit for everyone. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes and mac n cheese for our younger daughter and granddaughter. Both were delicious...super creamy mac n cheese and great texture and flavor for the mashed potatoes. For entrees I ordered the Porterhouse, my wife ordered the Halibut on special and my daughter ordered the Bone in Ribeye. My daughter and I are big steak fans, and my wife loves her seafood...we all love Halibut! The Ribeye was a bit tough and chewy and was very salty. My Porterhouse was absolutely amazing...so tender and melted like butter with great flavor. We ordered both at Mid Rare. The Halibut was another disappointment, it was dry and without much flavor and little no if any lemon butter sauce. The Charcoal Room has great ambiance, and a place you would want to hang out, but it just lacks the consistency of food and the attention and service you should get at a Steakhouse with these prices. read more

We ordered oysters Rockefeller for appetizers and that lacked taste big time. Just blanched spinach mixed with barely any sauce on top of oysters. The cooks are newly trained or something? My partner's steak was partly raw and rare when he ordered medium rare. I ordered a burger and asked for medium and got a rare one. Pointed out to the servers and he agreed. Was offered free dessert as compensation for the feedback to the chefs.... If you want to pay big money for terribly cooked food- this is the place. Amazing. Definitely come hungry. We went last night for our wedding anniversary. Calamari to start, which was delicious. I got the ribeye and hubby got the NY strip. We also got sides of mushrooms, mashed yams and brussels sprouts. Everything was so good. Steaks were cooked as requested. We had a garlic sauce and a bearnaise. The brussels sprouts were really interesting with the pistachios (in a good way). I could eat the mashed yams daily. On their own. So so good. For cocktails we got the Winter Garden and the Winter's Ballad. Both were good. We had a reservation so we had no wait time but it looked like there was plenty of open seating. The restaurant was beautiful (and the football game was on at the bar, everybody wins). Service was great and Miguel was very attentive to us. I wish I had been hungrier... It's a very "steakhouse inside a hotel and casino" looking place. Our service team was awesome, and Gabriel was like a ninja, everything was a special presentation with that man and it was EXCELLENT.
