I had planned a day at the charming cat cafe and wanted to check out the place beforehand. Whilst walking up to the establishment, I could smell the horrible aroma that surrounded it, and it only got worse when I entered. It was almost as if homeless people inhabited the place rather than cats. Keep in mind cats are self-grooming and known to be very cleanly animals. So any foul smell coming out of this place is sure to be a direct result of poor ownership and maintenance. read more

I've been here at least once a month for the past year. I even visited on my birthday! If I lived closer I would visit even more frequently. For those that can, they do have a monthly membership option of unlimited visits! They also have a generous rewards system. Five visits = one free visit. Admission prices are very reasonable My household has cat allergies so I come here to get my kitten fix. There's roughly 25 cats living there at any given time and they are all wonderful. They're all adoptable and a few are sponsored so the adoption fee is already covered! They had over 100 adoptions in 2016!! In addition to the cats, they have cat themed apparel, bedding, and toys available for purchase. All of the staff are friendly and are true cat lovers. Not a true "cafe" exactly since health code won't allow them to serve food. But they allow you to bring outside food in. This is one of the few permanent cat adoption venues like this in the US. My daughter and her small children adopted a cat. They were told it was checked for feline luk. My daughter took the cat today and cat has feline leukemia. Cat was kept indoors only and had no contact with other cats. This is terrible as she will have to explain to 3 little kids about the cat being sick. They must have a strain of feline leukemia running through. Caution. read more

Main employee hosting the birthday party was incredibly rude. I stepped in to pick up my daughter AFTER the birthday was over and was accosted by her telling me that if I didn't pay I had to leave immediately. This was as the kids where done and getting ready to walk out the door. I left the store and waited for my daughter outside. No way in hell I would go back to this place. read more

What a neat place! $7 for a half hour or $10 for an hour (so why wouldn't you go for the hour, plus what a great organization to give $$ to). There are a wide variety of kitties inside to play with, from kittens to older guys. Everyone was pretty mellow, with the occasional kitty who probably needs a loving home and a little more patience than your basic kittens. ;) I would not take children under 5 or 6 (it probably comes down more to the personality of the kiddo, too) who has logic/self restraint to some degree. There can be very mild personality spats amongst the cats (a little hissing and batting, nothing more that I've seen), not to mention some cats are a little less down with full-on lovin' from the get-go and might need more mild introductions. These are rescues, after all! I had a hard time not bringing a couple cats home when I visited, but with my current household composition, it just wasn't feasible. And that's the nice thing about this place--everyone is just happy to have you hear playing with the kitties! read more

Best experience ever! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, even storing our leftover food for us while we visit with the cats. The cats are so sweet and gentle and the different themed rooms allow for more private space to enjoy various cats. It's all very clean and cheap! The peaceful and comfortable space was made for humans and cats to enjoy and share. My original visit was to "interview" a new addition to my family, and among the adoptables, there were plenty of well-adjusted and sociable felines. Be aware that all the rooms are installed with cat-cams streaming video 24/7 online. It's a good way to judge cat behavior, but if your desire is privacy, don't expect anonymity when entering the cafe. read more

This is probably the only reason I will ever meander my way to vista ridge mall. I love the mission of this cafe and while it is not as polished as the cat cafes of Tokyo it is still charming. I love how the proceeds for admission go directly back to the cats and at any given time there are several cats who need specialized veterinary attention in their care. It's strictly bring your own food here but I wouldn't have a meal here because I want to pet the fluffy kitties first and foremost. read more

I love EVERYTHING about this place. I love the manager who is INCREDIBLY passionate and helpful. I love the staff which are super sweet and helpful as well. The smell doesn't bother me at all because I have kitties and know what it's like to live with them. Everything about this place is amazing and I would feel absolutely great about adopting a cat from this place because of how loved the cats are by staff and customers alike. It was horrible place . When my boyfriend and I came in the door and one of the cats came up to us . My boyfriend picked it up and was told by the lady to put her/him down as he did we see another couple that came in and did the same thing as my boyfriend . And the lady didn't say anything to them. And as we where playing with the cats I go into another room to look at one of the other cats and the lady immediately asks my boyfriend things that she could of asked us together when I was there so unprofessional and ignorant and truly none of her business. Beverly at Kitty Save went above and beyond to help me take care of my sick fur baby at a time when I was without funds, she paid out her own pocket to take my little guy to a vet to be seen without even meeting me in person. I was referred to her by a vet while trying to find someone to help, and after calling her she reached into her own pocket and made sure Tiger was seen by a vet immediately, you could tell by the sound of her voice she didn't expect I would pay her back but even in the face of that she made sure my little guy saw the best vet available right away. I have rarely met someone who cares that incredibly deeply for animals nor someone willing to help a crying stranger who cold called them at 7am on a Saturday. Not only will I be paying her back but I will also be looking for ways to do something else be it volunteering or anything else and as far as I am concerned this will be the one and only place I ever go in the future when I looking for another fur baby to brighten my days. read more

Our local rescue group held an event here. It was fantastic! They have a fabulous facility. Our kittens had their own room and wore themselves out. It was a fun day! Lots of people just come in to spend time with cats or kittens. Yes, it does cost but considering you are helping to save cats it is well worth the visit. If you have a chance talk with the Owner. She does a great job with a very personable staff. read more

I saw this place on TV and had to visit. I love it. The people on the staff are so friendly. I even met the owner and got to talk about my own cats. And speaking of cats -- the ones here are very easy-going and some walk right up to you. There are plenty of toys you can use to spend some one-on-one time with the cats. Of course, some are napping, but they're cats! And I really like the fun stuff they sell. I've never seen anything like it all in one place. If I could give The Charming Cat Cafe ten stars, I would! This place is great! The cats here are so sweet and I have quite a few favorites! These cats are so well socialized and eager to meet people with quite a few of them being wonderful lap cats. I've been so often and am happy to see a few have been lucky enough to get adopted each time I come back. The staff is absolutely wonderful and are great to chat with. I couldn't even begin to know how they memorize all the names and personality quirks of their fluffy wards! Nothing short of impressive! With the work and dedication, it takes to take care of these guys every single day, and even foster some at home from what I've been told, the employees are some sort of everyday hero. Huge loads of appreciation to everyone that works here right now. What gets me is the owner. She seems to come in and order the employees around and even get plain rude towards them. While it is her job to make the store run at its best, it is self-evident to me that these she makes the environment tense. Personally, it'd be a bit unbearable to have to deal with. Also, she seems to talk to customers in a condescending tone and invades personal space too much. I don't think she checks in on the store except for weekends (understandable), so I think getting to know her amazing employees more would go a long way to make things even better. read more

I am really a crazy cat lady....and when I found out about this place my friend and I immediately got excited about going! The cats were so sweet, frisky and playful. It was so much fun talking and interacting with each one! I love how they are all rescue cats - it truly is a wonderful thing they are doing. My only complaint is that it had a fairly strong odor of cat litter box....not really the fault of the owner/manager - it's probably something that can't be helped when you have about 20 kitties roaming around but they may want to invest in an central order remover or ionizer like they have in restaurants for smokers. I don't know who the person Kristen L is but I felt an obligation to respond to the accusations she made about The Charming Cat Cafe. This is a superbly run and wonderful place with knowledgable staff that truly care about the kitties that are there. The cats are ensconced in a loving nurturing facility, that encompasses the meaning of true rescue, TCCC is the epitome of cleanliness and safety, the cats are healthy, playful and waiting for loving homes. Animals just as humans can suffer from minor ailments, allergies, a runny nose, playing too rough with another cat, and anyone knows that kittens just like kids play hard and then crash out for some z time....that is not lethargy it's being worn out and needing some quiet time. Bev Freed and her staff have a wealth of experience with animals and are well respected within the rescue community and applauded for their vision with TCCC and the unsung hours, effort and heartbreak that goes into rescue work. Kristen L, I may be misjudging you and you may be a DVM and therefore incredibly knowledgable, however, based on your comments I doubt it, due diligence would be done on any adopter and maybe this is sour grapes because you didn't meet TCCC's high standards. I had the pleasure to visit with the cutest kittens at The Charming Cat Cafe. Love the different themed rooms( in particular the Victorian Room). Those baby kittens couldn't stand still for a minute, so full of kitten energy!. Running, playing, wrestling and jumping on the many cat trees. This is such a great concept for all cat lovers and a great way to interact with different kitties in a stressless environment when looking to adopt a new feline. While consumers seem to thrive on negative criticism, I think that positive affirmation is crucial for overall improvement. As I will admit, I'm ignorant of the daily operations of such a facility, I was initially impressed with "The Charming Cat Cafe," and I believe that it is an excellent concept! For the brief time I was visiting, I noticed a relatively clean facility, somewhat energetic cats and kittens - even though it was very close to closing time, and most importantly 2 employees genuinely appeared to care about thnimals in their care. That being said: although the location is spacious, the ratio of cats to caretakers was substandard. However, the most alarming observation was the painfully obvious health issues regarding one of the young kittens. The animal was very lethargic even for a cat. her eyes were watering, she had nasal discharge, labored breathing comma and fluid somewhere in her respiratory tract that was clearly audible and could even be felt during respiration. Symptomatic of an upper respiratory infection, this animal should have been quarantined immediately and examined by a veterinarian. Such infections are highly contagious to felines within close proximity. I encourage anyone reading this review to look up the word complacent. It is my opinion that complacency is the primary factor in the way this organization is run. No matter how long an individual has been in any business at all. In conclusion, I would like to address one individual in particular, you know who you are. The subtle sin that is Pride will effectively consume your ego, and induce the negligence of which we witness daily. I implore you comma please swallow your Foolish Pride and embrace all forms of criticism. Because when it comes to the business of saving innocent lives, every small piece of information, no matter how trivial it may seem, could prove to be exponentially helpful to someone. I was super excited about the first cat cafe in north Texas being so close to my home! I came here a week ago. When we were walking around the mall Looking for the cat cafe and accidentally passed by the cat cafe until my friend pointed it out for me. We were welcomed by a very nice women who informed my friend and I with the rules and information for adoption and it's company. There are multiple rooms to go into, even private rooms. We were so enchanted by all the playful cats! Such a variety to enjoy!! Some big, small, hyper, calm, cuddly, independent!!! There are always those cute ones that follow you around, it just makes you want to aww! So were very hyper and just loved playing which was so cute!! I spent TWO HOUR here and it was WORTH IT! It's fun, it's therapeutic IMO, it definitely made my day BLESSED. I had such a great time that when I think of it or look back at the pictures, I smile! I hung out here with a friend that I haven't seen in ages!!! It's the best ice breaker! Lovely! I am definitely looking forward to adopt one of the cuties! read more
