My first time here but without a doubt I'll be back. It's so hard to find a place that serves an authentic cheese steak sandwich out here in Cali but this place is the REAL deal! There is plenty of seating and a big screen TV they play sports on. I went for the cheese steak sandwich with hot peppers and a side of "Frings" (french fries & onion rings). They use ribeye steak and only grill up the meat when you order your sandwich. When my meal was ready, just looking at the sandwich I knew I had found a great place. My first bite into the sandwich let me know I was right. I can't remember the last time I had such a delicious cheese steak sandwich and never this good here in Cali. The meat was tender and the most flavorful! Just the right amount of cheese and the sandwich bread was soft and fresh! I love a sandwich like this where there's nothing I want to add it's so delicious. The onion rings and french fries were also good. While I would say the onion rings were good, the fries were the best! Next time I'll just get the fries. My friend had the garlic fries and I can only assume they were good because she ate them all up and I never got a chance to try them. I regret not coming here more often. As much love as I have to Philly Franks sometimes I just don't want to drive out there and with Gaglione's closing Encinitas, Point Loma, Mission Gorge to open Petco this may be my go to for a fix. My recent visit was amazing. When I'm not doing get a cheesesteak I get a hot Italian. By hot it's just the meats are put on the grill momentarily since unlike the steak it's already cooked, just for char and warmth. Onions, peppers, no lettuce (because who wants a salad). They are doing thicker cuts of meats and from what I can tell a higher quality cut (new distro/supplier?). The mortadella really stood out. They did not skimp on my banana peppers or onions. I've also recently tried the breaded chicken cheesesteak (breaded chicken from the parm), but with the cheesesteak which gives a different texture, but one that I like. The stoners steak is a little too much and will fall apart before the half to me not "south" enough to not just be an everything steak sandwich. The works is my go to for cheesesteak, because why not? The cheesesteak bomb is when you need that little hint of salt/cured meat to go along with beefy cheese. It's extra rich. Ok now for the reason for the upgraded rating. I was properly greeted and it was genuine, my leftovers (yes leftovers when you order 3, 9 inches for 2 people) were packed for me. I was offered water cups without asking. They happily gave directions to a lost gentleman and helped an elderly lady with her car alarm. Another Yelp Victory! Cruising back from SD from meetings, the wife and I were using our Yelp app like a deep sea scanner, scanning for something to eat before we made it back to OC--- Right off the 78 fwy is the Cheesesteak Grill! I will say we came here because of the great reviews. We even drove 20 min one way to get here. The best part was the spicy fries which were super crispy and topped with a sriracha mayo. We got a large works and a pastrami. The works was decent but lacked the flavor I was expecting since it said it had a variety of hot and sweet peppers and mushrooms. The only thing I really tasted was the grilled onions. Again not bad by any means just not crave worthy. I was however told the pastrami was really good.
