My three kids and I went to this location today for lunch. We only had to wait about ten minutes for a table. I hadn't been there in about 8 years and last time waited a good 40 minutes. So I was pleasantly surprised the wait was short, but the place was indeed packed. They were fully staffed. Our server was pleasant and prompt. Not overly friendly but nothing to complain about. The menu was vast. I had the avocado toast. It was good. My daughter had the child chocolate chip pancakes and asked to add whipped cream which they did. My son had a burger and it was good. My other son had the Texas French toast. We ordered cheesy bread yummmm and chicken cheese quesadilla. The bill was a bit intense. Not used to that for a diner style food. My friends are always raving about this place so I was excited to try it. One just opened by me in Marlton but I still haven't been yet. I started with the NE clam chowder and it was delicious, creamy with clam chunks and good flavor. I got the beesting wings with killer beesting on the side because I wasn't sure how spicy it was. Delicious but a bit mild on flavoring - they need one ingredient or two to jazz it up a bit. But still really good. We tried 2 different sauces. Wings were nice sized and very juicy. 1. Parmesan and garlic sauce was pretty good. Neither flavor was more overpowering than the other, 2. Medium hot sauce was good also. Not overly hot. French onion soup was delicious!! On the recommendation from the waitress, she suggested the Messy Marvin (a Ruben but with homemade coleslaw instead of sauerkraut) instead of the traditional Ruben. EXCELLENT choice. We were craving some of their famous bee sting wings and while we were sad we weren't able to go inside because of covid, they have an awesome order system and curbside pick up in place. We ordered take-out from CHEGG at least 10 times during a one-month stay in LBI after Labor Day. What kept us coming back was 1. they were open 7 days a week from morning through evening, unlike many restaurants in Beach Haven. 2. I fell in love with their sinfully sweet cinnamon roll French toast. 3. the ordering app on their website (I usually used my computer) is excellent and lets you customize every dish (for example, which cheese, which dressing, which bread, which protein). Each order of cinnamon roll French toast came with packets of pancake syrup, and I laughed each time I unpacked the order, because this item is so ridiculously sweet, I don't know who would want to add pancake syrup to it. I also don't know who would eat this as breakfast; I served it after the meal as dessert. If you love cinnamon rolls, try this! I didn't have as much luck the one time I tried the Orchard's Best French Toast. The apple cobbler that came with it is wonderful, but the French toast was very thick and hadn't spent enough time soaking in the batter, so it was dry. I wouldn't be surprised if this dish is better when they're not hurrying. It was the only item I ever tried from CHEGG that wasn't perfect. Several times, I ordered avocado toast with poached eggs. Perfection. You get to choose which style of eggs, or you may skip the eggs, which I would have found bland and boring. Several times, I ordered arugula salad with candied walnuts, fresh strawberries and feta cheese. They always gave a generous amount of very sweet strawberries and walnuts. The walnuts were very sweet. I ordered this salad several times with tuna salad added, and several times without the tuna salad. The last item I ordered numerous times was the Vegan Veggie Steak. Delicious but I'm not sure why the call it a steak. I love this dish because the multigrain bread is excellent. You get to choose which cheese to melt on top of the medley of roasted vegetables (it's not a loaf). read more

Went to the Chicken or the Egg with my boyfriend while vacationing in LBI. I had gotten countless recommendations to check it out so it seemed to be a no brainer that I had to try out the famous Chick or the Egg! I really enjoyed my root beer float. They also gave me what was left of the root beer on the side which I appreciated. I tried my boyfriends milkshake and we both weren't huge fans of it. We felt there could've been more strawberries! Great presentation though! We decided to split the New England clam chowder as well as the Fat Chegg Wrap. The New England Clam Chowder was fantastic! The bread bowl it was in tasted fresh and paired with the soup terrifically. The soup was probably my favorite item at Chicken or the Egg! The Fat Chegg Wrap is exactly how it sounds! FAT! The Fat Chegg wrap has mozzarella sticks, buffalo chicken, French fries and cheese inside. It was extremely heavy and I could only eat about 3 bites of it! Overall, everything was pretty good! There is always a ton of food options at Chegg and it keeps me coming back even though it's a two hour drive for me. The Fatt Chegg is everything you could want shoved into a single sandwich. But I personally come back for the strawberry Pepsi. Maybe it's silly to travel so far for a drink but it is absolutely delicious and I've never found another place that serves it.
