Irish Breakfast at the Chipper Truck Cafe

If you know the Chipper Truck in Woodlawn this Cafe is run by the same people. Don't be surprised to see Val cooking! Authentic Irish food in a small dinette setting, nothing fancy but good food!

    Raw apple pie..
    Rell I.

Got an apple pie and it was half Raw and tasted like coleslaw.. with a bitter old taste. It sucks to order food in the time that we are in now with covid-19 and simply feels like a waste of money. - As for the other food the burger just taste bland and so so oily. The Ruben sandwich was the best thing. Still very oily but it at least had taste. As for the Fries OMG they were drenched in oil and very very soggy with such a weird bitter taste. - overall I wish I would have seen the reviews on Yelp before ordering. Pro- the price wasn't to bad and the Ruben sandwich was good.

    Moldy Eggo Waffle

I wish I could give less than one star. The order came an hour late and cold. I ordered Belgian waffles and received ONE Eggo size waffle with MOLDY blueberries. I called the restaurant and asked them to deliver a non moldy correct item or refund me and they refused to do either. stay away from this place. McLean deli is right next door, with the same food (much fresher) and better customer service.

Bacon cheeseburger and fries with garlic mayo.

Damn. I really hate that this place isn't as good as the truck. I'm a regular at the truck and tell countless people about it which have all come to love it as much as I do so when the cafe opened I was really excited that I can get food 24/7. My hubby and I came here about 10:30pm on a Saturday. The red headed woman that treated us was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The first thing I noticed was a really bad smell. Very musty and overwhelming. We ordered our usual bacon cheese burgers with fries with garlic mayo. The burger wasn't as good as the truck but the fries were amazing, as always. The garlic mayo is so delicious. I won't say I won't be back because the garlic mayo fries are to die for but I prefer the truck. I couldn't tell you what exactly is different but The truck is just greasy and delicious.

This is the worst place I have ever gotten food in my entire life including worse than airline food. I swear literally 5 minutes ago I just downloaded Yelp and made an account to leave a review for this establishment I have never left a review prior. I ordered over $70 in food for 6 of my friends including me. I ate 2 empanadas and I don't have extremely high standards but it's as if they put dog shit in a tortilla and deep fried it I highly recommend you try another place. I will leave a picture as proof of me downloading the app for the first time.

This is disgusting, look at how much oil. I called to complain and the lady was rude and brushed me off. DONT EAT HERE

Never eating here again. Called to complain and the lady did not care and brushed me off

As a corn lover, the flavor note of Esquites just reminded me of elotes that you get from a street vendor in Mexico. The Tlayuda was huge! We added carne asada as our topping, and it turned into an huge entree that's shareable between two people. We finished our meal with the most flavor-intense dish - duck confit enmoladas. Despite not being a crazy mole fan, the mole sauce that was drizzled all over the enmoladas had a perfect balance of rich notes with a bit of bittersweet chocolate undertone. The ambiance was great with both indoor and outdoor seating. We were there to celebrate our anniversary, and the restaurant made it so special for us by providing a menu printed with "happy anniversary" with a note card and glasses of sparkling wine! This is a gem that's not to be missed!!!

By then the hostess had already seated us and I was immersed in the excellent service and the delicious aromas from the open kitchen. My husband lived in Mexico City for a time and he said this was some of the best Mexican food he'd had. The corn vermouth was delicious and I'd never heard of sotol so tried it in a paloma, which was great. Definitely will go back again, but only once my wallet has recovered.

We managed to get a table fairly quickly and we spent the evening cheering on my hometown team. This was not my first visit there, and last night, the menu was limited due to the large crowd. Nonetheless, even with the limited menu, the food was tasty, fresh and arrived quickly. The drinks were strong and the service was outstanding. Anthony D was our server, and even with the huge crowd, he paid attention to us and had a very pleasant attitude. We did not feel neglected or ignored for one second, even with all of those people. I had the chicken tenders and fries which were delicious and were a nice, generous portion. My daughter had the Caesar salad and she said it was excellent. We have been here before, and we will be back again. Just had to give them a shout out because of the excellent service given, even with the large number of people in attendance. I like my eggs scrambled and this was kinda of a flattop melted with cheese. The French toast was kinda like I could make it myself. Not the best breakfast I have had. We called a head since it was 6 of us to see if we could do a walk in or if we needed a reservation , and both options are available which is a plus. Dress attire is your choice we dressed regular nothing fancy just day to day hang out style. We were greeted kindly by the staff sat down handed a set of dominoes to play with while we waited for our food and drank some water. The place is decorated nicely and you can see the vision in mind definitely. We placed our orders and I'm not gonna lie I came in thinking the food was gonna be eh but I was blown away by the flavors. For drinks we ordered a spicy sunset, pretty young thing and cokes. The spicy sunset is a nice strong drink and is rimmed nicely with just the right amount is tajin as you drink it; it has a nice smoky after taste to it definitely was delicious. The pretty young thing was a nice citrusy drink with a little salty aftertaste, which balanced out the flavor nicely. The cokes were not water down they were good as well. For food we ordered the Cuban sandwich with parmesan fries, butter chicken wings, butter chicken macaroni and cheese, steak nachos grande, butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and mom's butter chicken platter. This was a wonderful Spanish and Indian style combination of flavors. Definitely my first time having this type of food and wow what a mind blowing experience. Not one person in the table complained or had anything negative to say about their food. We all tried each other's food and each bite we exchanged to try was delicious and better than the last . The Cuban was delicious but the parmesan fries stole the show from that meal it was paired so lovely who would've thought those flavors would've mixed nicely. The buttery chicken wings oh my God dripping with goodness each bite was legit finger licking good lol. The butter chicken macaroni very very delicious. Had a nice cheese pull and a good balance could not stop eating it. The steak nachos were delicious I wish It had a little more meat, but it was not bad. The butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries also delicious and the fries were cooked so nicely that it was crispy and soft at the same time per bite. The mom's butter chicken platter was delicious they gave the right amount of sauce, the pita bread was delicious and soft, the salad that it was paired with was good too the rice was decently portioned. Everything was definitely tasty. Not one complaint of any of the meals. We did not wait long for the food. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I want to come back to try more things in the menu that's how good the food was and our group agreed to also come back with us. This spot is definitely a place to try. They have a beautiful quote right near the bar that really spoke to us, especially during these times it said "you are exactly where you need to be." It makes you stop for a second and really take it in and just live in the moment ... especially living in New York, where you have to be always go go go fast fast fast. This was really beautifully written thank you to the staff who made our night and our friend's birthday special we'll see you soon.
