Went in here thinking it was just another restaurant within the outlets. Was SO pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is amazing, slightly dark, quiet, wood fire grill burning in the open. Late night family dinner with some of the family . You definitely need a reservation for this restaurant. We had a party of 12, and it took about 2 hours to be seated. Luckily, the restaurant is located in a Tanger outlet strip mall. Everyone who greeted us was amazing. Our server had a long night, and she handled us well. After a vacation with just ok food, we stopped into Chop House, one of my favorite restaurants in the area. And it did not disappoint. We were treated by two very friendly greeters and then sat in Dawn's section, who was really good. Since it was lunch time, my mom ordered turkey and dressing with a sweet potato and said it tasted like Thanksgiving. My niece ordered a steak with blue cheese butter and she loved it! I ordered the petite pork chops with baked potato and it was good. My niece and I also shared a Cesar salad. (My not issue was the amount of cheese in the dressing). Also, the bread was delicious. She came back with drinks and we ordered our meals. She came back with our appetizer. It was heat hot and tasty. After we finished our appetizer, our food came out. Came here for a date night. The service was fantastic as my server and the other staff were great, but the food was okay at best. My partner and I both ordered medium rare ribeyes and his was perfect but mine came out pretty overdone which was partly because it seemed like the steak was cut pretty thin. They immediately replaced it and my sides which was nice, but I think this is the first time I have been to a steakhouse that hasn't cooked my steak right, so I was a little disappointed. Mercedes brought us complimentary bread and butter after we were seated. The bread was soft and tasted good. I ended up ordering the lamb chops with macaroni and cheese and a Caesar salad. The salad was really good and was made with fresh ingredients. The Mac and cheese was creamy and tasted good. The lamb chops were tender and were seasoned well. There were enough lamb chops that I had leftovers after eating. I would get all of those items again. Because it was my birthday I was given a free desert which was a caramel fudge cake with ice cream and a single candle. The ice cream and caramel sauce were good but the cake was hard. We overheard the host telling parties when we got there that the wait was one hour and also overhead them telling parties at 3:00 as we were leaving that the wait was an hour. This place gets super busy! I personally would not wait an hour so definitely make reservations. I ordered the blue crab cake with mashed potatoes and a side salad. Everything was good, but I wouldn't say it was great. My Dad liked his Turkey and my Mom liked her chicken fried chicken but nothing at this place that stands out as terrific. This was the most embarrassing experience in the post Covid era. -52 minutes late seating our reservation with no time updates from the hostess -4 medium well steaks delivered when medium rare was ordered -two flat and stale Sam Adams beers -the cocktails were watered down and not one person finished theirs -table bread was brought out 30 minutes into our meal -no plates were cleared off the table from the appetizers to dessert, we just had to continue piling them ourselves to create space to eat -several salads were given without dressing -3 Sprites had water poured into them and never received new ones or refills -it was my wife's birthday and the manager said they had a cake ready for her that we never saw All in all, I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy let alone my own wife turning 30. We're a Chop House family. It is probably our favorite place and we've ate at almost all of them. We've even ate at this one several times but our last visit was disappointing. The wait was close to two hours which was fine to us because normally the CH is worth it. This visit had me wanting to buy my own scales to weigh my meat because there's no way we got the sizes/ounces we ordered. The prime rib (which is my go-to) was the worst cut I've ever had, the 10 ounce ribeye was was no way 10 ounces and it was THIN. The sirloin that was supposed to be cooked medium was also paper thin and well done. Salads were made without the usual toppings. Baked potatoes were iced cold--the butter wouldn't even melt. The Bloody Mary was the best Bloody Mary I've ever had and the service was decent. read more
