Excellent cut from William Huth @ Chroma!
    Joshua H.

I'm a bit neurotic when it comes to my hair. I remember when I was about twelve years old, my mom took me to a Supercuts and after about 5 minutes of describing the style I would like, the barber took out Clippers and shaved my head on the number three. So, when I moved to LA I knew I would need a stylist that was conscious of my hair woes. My roommate recommended me to William Huth at the chroma Studio. Needless to say, I was a bit reserved, however I could not be happier with the results. My roommate got a completely new style, and it looks great, but I was just looking for a simple trim, and perhaps thin it out a bit. As good as the brand new cut looked, Will also nailed it with giving me exactly the trim that I wanted. Not only was the style exactly what I wanted, the atmosphere could not have been more warm and welcoming. Wonderful Salon, with wonderful people. I cannot recommend William highly enough, call him directly and set up an appointment! (323) 331-0923

My hair done by Flavia Harpaz to Oscar 2013.

I've been going to Flavia for over 3 years. Always an amazing experience. I'll not trust my hair with anyone else anymore, not only does Flavia keeps my hair looking beautiful. She also educates and takes the time to listen to you and gives her advise on what suits you best. Definitely she makes the salon experience a true pleasure and makes you feel at home when she greets you with a nice smile. I couldn't be happier when I got my hair done by Flavia to "The Academy Award's Red Carpet", Oscars/2013. She did a wonderful job. It was exactly what I wanted. I would give more than five stars if I could. Last month, I went in for had an another great hair cut. I was very pleased with the results. She cut my hair up to the shoulders and it is layered in a way that looks good styled or without doing anything. I get stopped on the street daily with people complimenting my hair. I can't wait to go back to see her again. Good vibes for sure. I highly recommend Flavia, because she really takes pride in her work, and so talented and sweetheart!

I have officially joined Chroma Studio's "Troy fan club." Let me explain. I am, sadly, a member of that generation of women who have to touch up their roots every two to three weeks, I'll admit, we're talking some 'stray greys' in there as well and it was getting past the point where I could refer to them as "highlights." I figured: how hard could it be to just grab a box of anything Tina Fey, SJ Parker or Andie MacDowell shill for, and just do it myself? Bad idea. I ended up with horizontal bands of various shades of red over the course of six months. Not bad if I'm fronting a band at an indie music festival in Eagle Rock....but I'm not. So on to Troy. I'm walking past Chroma Studio in my WEHO 'hood and I'm thinking.... It's pretty on the outside, let me Yelp. I did, I saw the multiple stars and I read the reviews. I called. They were very nice and accommodating... They must have heard the desperation in my voice. Troy sat me down and explained the process to even out the color. (FYI, he didn't mock me once!). Since it's red, it's a bit more challenging than splitting an atom or finding parking at the Hollywood farmers market. Anyway, he lifted, touched up, pulled color though, then came the Low lights for some complexity and...four hours late (that's how much attention he pays to his craft), voila, a stunning glossy, shimmering auburn mane spilling over my shoulders. The price was reasonable considering the time and effort it took make me fabulous....and it included a gorgeous blow dry! For the record, the blow dry is always included in the price of his color jobs. Troy also has his own product line but doesn't force it on you and that, my friends is uber classy. Thank you Troy, I might even post that pic!!!!

    Love my hair

Hair by EJ @ Chroma Studio...LOVE IT!

Okay...so I RARELY, if EVER, write reviews (I know, I'm one of those parasites who always use Yelp, but rarely review) BUT I am compelled to write this one. So for the past year, I was suffering from hair envy. Whenever my roommate would come home from her hair appointments she would have AHHH-MAZING hair. Seriously. Like hair straight out of a Pantene Commercial or on the cover of Vogue hair. Not that her hair is a hot mess normally, but it was sooo good after a hair appointments that I finally had to ask her if I could piggy back on an appointment with her the next time she went. Now...I have naturally curly (3b) bra strap length hair but love wearing it straight (not an easy task). Many hairstylists I have gone to in the past have either butchered my hair or tried to use straight cuts/styles on my curly hair, so I was a bit nervous. I have found stylists on Naturallycurly.com that were supposed to be curly hair specialists that didn't live up to their reviews. Then....There was EJ. I barely have words for the magic this man works. I am still a relatively new customer, but what this man does in HALF the time of my former stylist is nothing short of a miracle. He not only gave me a fantastic cut that is growing out beautifully (as he said), but it looks awesome blown out (he is a master with a brush and blow-dryer) or styled curly. He was so confident that it would grow out beautifully that he said I wouldn't need to see him for 3-5 months! It has been 3 months since my last cut, and he was absolutely right! Although, my roomie came home the other day with FAN-TASTIC hair and I was a bit bitter she went to see EJ without me! Even though he says I can wait another 2 months, I will be back sooner to see EJ....That is...if I can get an appointment. Hmmmmm, on second thought.... /kidding. He is great. No AMAZING. Highly recommended for naturally curly cues like me who wish they were born with straight hair.

I was referred to Chroma studio and told to ask for William Huth by my husband for a much needed hair cut and I am so happy I took his suggestion. William is incredible. I couldn't have asked for a better cut and style. He took what I asked for and actually delivered better than the picture I brought! The man is truly a legend and a pleasure to chat to. If you're looking for a hair stylist who knows what they are doing definitely check him out!

I went on Saturday and waited over an hour. What's special is that you can sign up for the event and get 20% off all products, which is rare for the Korean cosmetics line because they usually don't go on sale. For this special event, they have a limited edition line of tinted sunscreens that come in various shades, so you can color-match your skin with the various samples. It was hard for me to find the right one initially, but I went with the Daily Tinted Fluid Sunscreen MP200, which has a pink undertone. You'll notice the second letter of the item will have a 'P' or 'N'; 'P' stands for pink, and 'N' stands for Neutral. The pink undertone works better for me. So once you get in the store, you'll be given a program/booklet. You'll want to write your name and the last four digits of your phone number, and in the program, it'll have the products, and you can list the quantity of each product you want. You give your booklet to the team members, and they'll call you when they're ready. The event has a rice bar with rice treats and a photo booth. The space is small, but you can chat with the representatives to learn more about the various products. Their most popular product is the TikTok viral sunscreen, but due to FDA regulations, the Korean version can't be sold in the States. So Beauty of Joseon had to pivot and create a new sunscreen, so check it. It was pretty good, but overall, it was a cool event!

They also had a fun Photo Booth where you got a picture and free skincare samples after! We bought two serums there and got 20% off on top by attending the pop up. Great event for learning new products and sampling in order to be better educated to buy!

I had a bad experience with owner Tricia over the phone almost forcing me to go to the appointment scheduled when I couldn't not make it on time because otherwise I would get charged anyway even if I could not make it telling me that the "system" wouldn't let her reschedule my appointment for another time. Come on now let's be real ! Every time a business owner tells you "the system" won't allow me to do this or that, it is a terrible excuse and it is more called unwillingness and they just want to take your money. Now not only was I surprised at the reply but also at the way she was talking very rudely. I am pretty good at keeping my cool but this lady made it hard that day specially after looking for their new location which is the reason I was late because I first went to their previous location and wasn't aware of the change and then being told "well it was on the website, you should have looked". Now back to the product/service itself it has always worked for my skin so well, it is quick 30 min and after 4/5 days of peeling your skin looks great and if you keep it consistent for 3 months the results are even better. It is one of the reason Why i kept coming back and also because of Monica and Aimee who were really good but who unfortunately they both no longer work there. Something is telling me that if the owner doesn't treat their clients right, she must not treat their employees great as well. But anyway to conclude the minute I find a product that works as great as what she offers I won't come back. I like to support great business run by great people. However, my experience at the salon inside Ulta left me feeling embarrassed and disrespected, and I believe it's important to share honest feedback. I came in asking for simple straight-back braids. I was technically a walk-in, but I called ahead first to make sure it would be okay before coming. On the phone, the stylist sounded welcoming and said he could squeeze me in between clients. I didn't mind waiting at all--I was just excited to get my hair braided. Unfortunately, the tone completely changed once I arrived. Instead of a professional consultation, the stylist immediately began criticizing my hair, saying it was "dry" and complaining that it was short. For context, I had just blown my hair out and intentionally did not add product because that's commonly recommended when preparing hair for braids. Additionally, my hair has been braided successfully about 4-5 times before, so I know that my length is more than sufficient for straight-back braids. Rather than offering helpful guidance, the comments felt dismissive and unnecessarily negative. The overall tone made me feel uncomfortable almost immediately. After starting the service, the stylist completed one braid. When he tied it off, he said "no hang time" out loud. This comment was made in front of other clients in the salon, and it felt embarrassing and unprofessional. Being singled out like that in a public salon environment made the situation even more uncomfortable. The braid itself also appeared rushed and below the standard I expected. Earlier in the appointment I had asked if stitch braids were an option, and I was told they couldn't be done because the salon didn't have "the device" to do them. That explanation didn't make sense, since stitch braids are typically done with technique and a rat-tail comb rather than a special device. After the first braid was finished, the stylist asked if I wanted to continue. Based on the comments and the overall energy of the interaction, I decided not to move forward with the service. When the braid was taken down it felt rushed and aggressive, which only added to the discomfort. I was also asked if I wanted my hair washed afterward, but I declined because at that point I just wanted to leave. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down. However, professionalism, respect, and client care are essential in the service industry--especially in a salon environment where people should feel comfortable and confident. I walked in excited for a simple service and left feeling embarrassed and disappointed. My hope is simply that this feedback encourages better professionalism and communication so that future clients have a much better experience.
