Nice quiet atmosphere though a bit crowded. Server was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Started with vegetarian dolmas (oddly just called grape leaves on the menu) which were clearly hand rolled as half were falling apart. Flavor was amazing so it wasn't a big deal. Meal portions were reasonable and presentation was great. I don't remember what I had but it came in a clay pot and was vegetarian. This is a favorite restaurant in Bowling Green because the food is usually fresh and well-prepared. That is until this evening when the Chicken Pomodoro with rice and green beans was served to me. The chicken was tough -- I had to saw through one cutlet with my butter knife, the green beans tasted like they were frozen, not fresh, and the rice was undercooked. The Pomodoro sauce was watery and the rice floated in the sauce. Were this my first trip to this restaurant, it would also be my last. I'll likely go back in hopes that this meal was a the result of someone's bad day in the kitchen, but if I have a similar dining experience next time, then no more Naslada for me. read more

I have to say I was disappointed in my dining experience. After reading all the reviews, and hearing my friends rave, I expected something a little better, than just slightlhy above average comfort food. The atmosphere was okay. It had the feel of a tired restaurant, that was slightly redecorated. On the other hand, this does fit with an Eastern European them. The booths and tables were more like something that would be found in a fast food restaurant, however. I was also less than thrilled with the paper napkins. The server was very friendly, but not terribly attentiive. Not her fault, as the restaurant had a decent crowd, and she was the only one working out front. She did the drinks, hostessing, and serving. Finally, and most importantly, there was the food. I had the lentl soup, which I thought was very good. My entree I felt to be average. The others at my table liked their entrees a bit better. Was it a nice experience - absolutely. Is it worth all the rave reveiws - in my opinion it is not. read more

Lunch here is really good. We had the panini combos; I had a tasty lentil soup; my husband had a cucumber salad (which was basically a salad-style Tzatzikii). My husband's panini was prusciutto was amazing; my portabello one was so-so. The food is good, the service is pretty good. I enjoyed the creative, Mediterranean-inspired food. Dinner is probably a tad pricier, but lunch was affordable; about $25, including tip. Also, they have a lot of European wines, and sell specialty stuff (though I'm sure Mejier or Kroger may have some of what they sell). read more

Been to Naslada Bistro half a dozen times. The food is amazing, freshly made daily, and simply delicious. I often choose the Portabella Panini and a cup of soup for lunch: portabella mushrooms, roasted red peppers, country mozzarella cheese, Bulgarian Feta cheese, tomatoes, red onion & olive oil. I like mine on their gluten free flat bread with a side of their Garden Tomato soup, served with a side of blue corn chips. I've been to Naslada only once for dinner and the food was amazing. That day, I utterly enjoyed their special which is not on the menu: Stuffed cabbage with sour cream dill sauce. A burst of flavorful yumminess! The wait staff are friendly and attentive, service is fast, as well. They have a bar/bistro set up in the front of the establishment, past the bar is an intimate dining room. Naslada is very clean, with beautiful Bulgarian countryside decor. read more

Naslada is, hands down, the best restaurant in Bowling Green. The European atmosphere makes the setting just exotic enough to take you away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life, but the friendly and down to earth staff still reminds you that you are in the heartland of America. I also think it's the best place in town for adults to have wine/cocktails with an appetizer that isn't deep fried (or out of a plastic bag). The beer selection is not huge, but it is excellent. You will find European wines and beers that you don't find elsewhere. Yes, the serving sizes are not always as big as few other local restaurants, but the quality of the ingredients, the unique flavoring, and the fact that the owner purchases as many local ingredients as he can, makes up for this and then some. Also, with an owner/chef who continually shops for the best ingredients, you get delightful specials that seem to change every week or so. Do yourself a favor and visit Naslada! read more

Place is super great especially for being in the middle of nowhere Ohio. Grass fed beef, wild fish, organic food, and a great beer list of mostly German beers. They have organic beer too! We visited recently from Cleveland, and wanted to try something we couldn't have at home. Bulgarian is currently not one of the world cuisines offered in our town, so Naslada it was. We were the only clients in the middle of the afternoon, so service was excellent; given our server's attention and enthusiasm, though, I suspect this would be the case if we had arrived at any other time. I was craving cheese (what else is new?) so we kicked things off with the grilled feta. It was gently spiced and arrived with toast points. For dinner, my husband had the clay pot beef from the organic menu, which sources its meats and vegetables from a local farm. I had the stuffed pepper with Parmesan cheese sauce, a nice switch from the tomato sauce that dish is usually dressed in. To accompany our food, we chose the Area 51 red wine made from a Bulgarian native grape. We were also glad we had the wine to cut the sweetness of the dessert, three petite pieces of a chocolate layered creation. It was just enough to round out the meal. The space is cozy and decorated with Bulgarian crafts and folk dress. Between the food, the atmosphere, and the friendly people, it was a terrific way to spend part of our Saturday afternoon. read more

My family goes to Naslada every time we are in Bowling Green because of the great combination of food, service, and price. They even sell some Bulgarian food and candy at the back of the restaurant. The place is very clean, and the waiters are always on their game. I really love the Stalichnaya salad because it is so similar to what my mom makes at home. They have great soups too. Bulgarian is such a great blend of Mediterranean and Eastern European flavors that the only thing I mind about Naslada is how far I have to drive to get there. read more

I tried Nsalada for the first time today--I'm glad I did! I decided to try the Monastery Bean Soup over a bed of the Bistro's risotto. It was absolutely amazing! The most sophisticated place to eat in BG. The menu, which changes by season, sports foods that one does not find anywhere else around. The offerings are seasonal and sourced as local as possible. He has an interesting beer and wine list. The cook is on European time; if you want out in 45 minutes, you're going to have to tell the waiter. In the winter, the soups are stellar. I've never had a bad meal yet & I've eaten there since it was in the Mall. I've attended some interesting wine tasting evenings there and a great Scottish-themed dinner in January. He really knows how to do the speciality dinners, which is a rarity in Ohio. If you're tired of burgers & want grown-up food, this is it. read more

Coming in the back door - best parking - you walk past a bustling kitchen, and a variety of Eastern European food offerings for sale. Words cannot describe how much I miss this place. My husband and I went here all the time when we lived in BG. Pasta rasta is probably my favorite, but their big deal is the beef in a pot. They also have the only chicken noodle soup I like and in the summer, this cold cucumber soup. I first heard of cold cucumber soup in Russia and I scoffed. Soup should be hot, I said! Well I'm an idiot. They gave a free sample of it once and holy crap it's good. AND they have sangria. Oh, and the salad with the fancy cheese on it is the best salad ever. I've eaten at every restaurant in downtown B.G. and Naslada Bistro is in a class of their own. Outside of Trotters and Easy Street, every other sit-down bar/restaurant seems to make my gut regret it hours later. Naslada consistently has the highest quality of food on Main St. The traditionally Bulgarian dishes and slightly higher prices may dissuade you coming in off the street and try the menu but I can't recommend this place enough. I am pretty picky about where I choose to eat out at. If I can cook it better at home then I'm usually going to do so instead of paying for low quality (like most restaurants here) food. I'm told that the main cook here is an older, "legit" Polish lady, no wonder why the food has a certain comfort feel to it. Instead of reviewing specific dishes, I'll simply say that I either always get whatever's on special (since it's all good) or the salmon. Salmon is something I've very critical on since I drive well out of my way to buy from specific markets for grilling at home. Oh yeah, their take on baklava is excellent too. The service is always friendly and the imported beer menu prices are actually quite reasonable for what they offer, especially considering that you can pay $3 for a bottle of PBR swill at bars down the street. I only gave Naslada 4 stars because I don't want to cheapen the rating system. Put it this way, I'd rate 90% of bars/restaurants downtown B.G. at 2-3 starts. I made the mistake of passing this place up for the first year or two that I was living here because I thought it was some sort of gourmet sandwich shop. This is one of the very few restaurants that I'd be sad to see go. Take mom or a date here, or simply walk in for a solo dinner. read more

Fist time having Bulgarian food. This place is Beautifully decorated. Ambience is comfortable and relaxing. Music in the background makes you feel like your visiting the country. Noise level is perfect. Came here for lunch. The restaurant was not that packed. I had the following. The white and red sangria homemade. Both of them equally delicious. It's rare to find white sangria so it was a pleasant surprise. Shopska salad was amazing thanks to the Bulgarian feta cheese very creamy and not acidic at all. Also had the leek potato soup n the meatball soup. Delicious leek soup. Recommend it if you like to cook with leek it gives you a different twist to it. Lastly I had the risotto with pork medallions. Meat was seasoned very well n the bell peppers give the dish a spicy twist to it. Local restaurant located next to a great coffee shop. The originality of the food makes this place a very unique place. A must-see in bowling green! read more

My son loves the Moussaka and my husband really likes the sandwiches. Don't forget to try the Crepe's Flambe. They are awesome and they are prepared table side. My husband and I wanted to take some very special guests, several visiting the US from China, to a nice restaurant in BG, and thought Naslada Bistro would be a good choice. Our party of 6 plus a very well-behaved toddler, had a 5-star waitress who had the patience of Job, was kind, friendly and attentive, and so helpful explaining much of the menu. (Salads are not part of our guests' daily dining experience, so the dressing choices were perplexing...) The atmosphere was great, with Bulgarian music playing in the background, much beautiful wood furniture, truly warm and relaxing. We all ordered different entrees, from venison to lobster fusilli to cod and salmon. The soups and salads that accompanied were delicious. I ordered salmon and requested it rare. Our waitress reassured me that the chef prepared the dish rare, but she would let him know regardless. Unfortunately both fish dishes were under seasoned and over cooked. For $26, one would think the salmon would have been fresh, but mine was not adequately defrosted and the flesh still contained some of the extra freezer moisture and was tough and not tasty. The quinoa side dish was also overlooked and mushy, not at all appetizing to look at, and also under seasoned. My husband did not enjoy his cod, also over cooked and under seasoned. When all was said and done, we spent about $58/person (including tip and a bottle of wine) and had great service and sub standard food. It's a good menu prepared poorly. I've been here twice and it's been consistently good both times. The first time I was there for lunch and had the Tartine. It was a bit small, but quite delicious. The second time was for dinner and I had the spinach pie and lentil soup. Both were excellent. Went here after getting a gift certificate to the place. We were one of the few people in the restaurant. After seeing the prices it makes sense how they are actually able to stay open with high prices on such mediocre food. The bar is probably the best thing about Naslada. Nothing but top shelf liquor and a decent beer selection. Granted most of the beers are miscategorized and outrageously priced. I doubted the freshness of most beers and stuck to other drinks. The menu is relatively small, the best thing on the menu in my opinion were the salads. Granted at twelve dollars for a small salad I expect it to be slightly bigger...Appetizers were fairly greasy and disappointing (some kind of cheese bread?). Service was atrocious. I honestly could not tell if my server had a learning disability or was just that bad. I would never come here again nor would I recommend it to anyone. The only reason this place gets two stars is because of the whiskey and scotch selection. If you want better food for a better price head across the street to the Odd Olive. read more
