It's been a long time since I dined at The Cliff but this cute little spot is officially back on my radar. They have a pretty perfect menu, adorable dining area and a perfect outside patio. Seriously nothing not to love. Came here with 2 friend for brunch (which they serve everyday!) and got a great seat on the outside patio. They don't take reservations but luckily we didn't need any that day. Do yourself a favor and get the watermelon mint juice. It was amazing, so refreshing, I could have gulped it down. Some of got that and another got the smoothie, which I know she loved as well. For my meal, I got the asparagus and goat cheese omelette. Delicious and loaded with goat cheese. Might sound a little crazy but it might have been a little tooooo much goat cheese. But still a pretty almost perfect omelette. It came with toast and a side of greens. We also got a side of truffle fries for the table and the saltiness was so perfect alongside my omelette. One of my friends is vegan, and she had so many options to choose from on this menu and they had no problem making small modifications for her like taking cheese off of her breakfast burrito. Now that I know about their adorable back patio and watermelon juice, I plan to return super soon. This is a great spot hidden in The Heights.
Great salads and coffee. Perfect for lunch. Even tho it's a small space they accommodated three strollers for us and the girl working was super sweet. Offered to do separate checks. Cobb salad was great (love the buffalo cauliflower). Also got fries for the table with chipotle aioli and they did not disappoint. Cappuccino was also good.
The Cliff in Jersey City, NJ. This cute cafe nestled in Jersey City, NJ needs to be on your list. It's a few steps away from 9th Street light rail stop making it super convenient to get to. It gives a neighborhood vibe-serving delicious coffee and super healthy but amazing food! Everything is homemade here from the cheddar chive biscuits to the brioche French toast. The Cliff is open 7 days a week, is BYOB and there's a super cute patio garden in the back during the Spring and Summer time! Brioche French Toast- Thick cut brioche, mascarpone, toasted almonds, coconut, fresh berries, butter & maple syrup. Smoked Salmon- Thin sliced Smoked Salmon on Multigrain Bread with Cream Cheese & Chives served with a Mixed Green Salad. Biscuit Sandwich- Cheddar Chive Biscuit with Egg & Cheese 2 Eggs Any Style- Roasted potatoes, Greens & Sourdough Toast
Came here for breakfast since it's closeby and their unique menu was appealing. My friend and I shared the cod burger, buffalo cauliflower wrap, and truffle fries. Quality/taste: ALL of the food was delicious! 10/10 recommend trying the cod burger and the buff cauliflower wrap. The cod burger was very flavorful and melted in my mouth. The buffalo cauliflower wrap was super unique in flavor, I like how the buffalo sauce wasn't too powerful and vinegar-y; with the cauliflower and avocado was really good. Both dishes tasted clean and not too heavy. The truffle fries were really good as well, it was enough truffle oil and the fries were cut thin which made it super easy to eat and I got a lot of the flavor in each bite! I really enjoyed the meal and it tasted like they used quality ingredients. Service: Quick service, and the food came out fast. The server as really nice but also super laid back. She was super accommodating and gave us everything we needed very quickly. Ambiance: Pretty cute space but it was very limited seating inside. Maybe about 10 tables total. Not great for big parties. Bathroom was clean, which was nice. Price: Fairly reasonable pricing - not overly priced. I will be returning and I will definitely be getting these 2 dishes again!! They don't have any meat options here; only pescetarian and vegetarian options. 10/10 recommend!!
Turned away and treated very unwelcome! We were very excited to try this spot after viewing their menu, and drove from quite a ways for brunch. Although we arrived 40 minutes before their closing time, we were immediately faced with rudeness. The server Star sneered at us as we inquired if they were open until 3 as listed and she said it was for takeout only. They also appeared to be drinking as there were multiple high noons on the table where servers were hanging out and closing up early. It's unfortunate as it looked like a cute spot for Brunch.
Small spot, about 4 counter stools and 6 tables. We sat at a long table with another couple at the other end. I was craving their in house granola, but they don't have it anymore l. :/ We ordered a vegan burger, chopped kale salad with cherries on the side and a quinoa wrap. $43.19 We are both so hungry, it's a late start today. The kale salad is simple, decent, although the tarragon dressing is a tad bland. The kale leaves are nice, no hard veins at all. The beyond vegan burger is okay. The truffle fries are so-so, doesn't really have much truffle oil on them. The quinoa wrap is pretty good, lots of different textures from all of the veggies, slight crunch from the quinoa, some creaminess from the feta and chipotle aioli.
Cute little cafe for a casual weekend brunch. Good split of indoor and backyard outdoor seating, which is pet friendly. Not a ton of shade in the back. The menu is a good mix of breakfast options (eggs), lunch options (salads), and healthy options (fresh juice). Service was a bit slow to take our orders and to settle up our check but it was a busy, sunny weekend brunch hour.
Was browsing on Yelp looking for dog friendly restaurants to take my cousins dog to celebrate his birthday! What sold us on this spot was the outdoor patio with colorful floating umbrellas hanging above. We showed up on a Sunday around 11am and although it was quite busy inside, the outdoor patio was serene. We were greeted by two employees who led us to our table on the patio. They also had outdoor seating in front as well but there is no shade so the patio is best. Dogs could be seated inside and outside which is a plus. Our seat was somewhat directly in the sun so it was toasty outside. The best seats are the ones in the left corner or right corner. After scanning the QR code on the table, we chose through plenty of yummy options including vegetarian and vegan! I decided to order a matcha lemonade (because the yelp reviews rave about it!), buffalo cauliflower burrito and french fries. My sister ordered huevos rancheros with a side of buffalo cauliflower and my cousin ordered a strawberry smoothie and a lobster roll. It took quite a while to order as we had to wave down a waitress but once the order was paid the food came out fresh and QUICK! I highly suggest the buffalo cauliflower and matcha lemonade! The matcha lemonade was refreshing especially since it was hot out. Buffalo cauliflower was semi spicy and flavorful. My cousin and sister loved their dishes too! If it's hot out, ask them for ice water as they serve hot water if you don't ask. Will be returning to try other menu items!
A homey modernized quaint brunch spot with some solid food! Came on a Sunday afternoon & we were sat down right away. I got the Brioche French Toast, which was beautifully plated and presented. It was two thick square slices topped with banana, strawberries, kiwi, almonds, honey, and butter. The French toast itself didnt seem to have a super strong batter to me, as the dish seemed to rest on the strength of its toppings, but the bread was very thick, light, and fluffy. It was a lighter take on French toast, with the refreshing flavor of the fruit, the sweetness of the honey, and the almond crunch being the main characteristics. I would've appreciated some syrup at times when it was a little dry chewing through all that fluffy oxidized bread, but the butter did a good enough job to make it through. Overall it was a solid brunch, I'd come again if I was in the area & so should you!
Such a cute,initiate and cozy place to have brunch with friends and family. One of my friends actually recommended it when she came with her family. I decided to go for brunch with some friends and everyone loved it. The cliff offers vegan/vegetarian options as well which is always a plus. We sat outdoors underneath the umbrellas which was a nice touch, it reminded me of when I was in Puerto Rico. To start for drinks we ordered the watermelon mint juice which was so refreshing and the matcha lemonade. For our dishes we ordered the huevos rancheros, 2 eggs any style, the avocado toast, the breakfast burrito and the brioche French toast. Portions were decent and we were full but not in a sluggish way which was perfect. The French toast was amazing and well balanced with the mascarpone and fruits. And I loved my entree it was so delicious and the kale added an extra touch of greens which was well needed. Feel free to bring your own bottles of champagne as for it is BYOB and it is kid friendly and dog friendly. I would definitely come back for more eats from this location. Staff was very friendly which makes an experience much more enjoyable. Prices were very decent which I loved, very affordable. Tips: plenty of street parking, location is a bit small so call in advance to reserve, no menus will have to look up menu on your phone, view site or call for hours or operation.
Super cute quaint cafe located in The Heights boasts a menu full of vegan options. This is not like most cafes. The Cliff prepares both eggs and tofu scramble which is awesome for all those earthy vegans out there. I ordered the veggie burger which was cooked perfectly and juicy inside. The sesame/poppyseed bun reminded me of Burger King- it had a flame grilled scent but tasted like a piece of Balthazar bread. It was amazing and I'm a carnivore. The Cliff has a cute outdoor seating area outside which is full-service. I felt like I was in New Paltz or some super trendy earthy town. Quiet, great WiFi, and amazing coffee! Make sure you sit outside- I was surprised how comfortable their outdoor seating it. Added plus* pretty umbrella collection outside! read more
Loved eating here! Really cute spot, with fantastic food and friendly staff. The restaurant itself is very small and the wait is long so if your not a fan of tight spaces or sitting in a corner/next to other guests than this might not be the place for you. Food was fresh and came out fast. It's also byob which is great. Would highly recommend coming here for brunch. read more

Love this spot!! I was instantly hooked by the interior decor, and all the little details with the wallpaper, decorative throw pillows, lighting fixtures, etc. Also gets a GREAT amount of natural lighting, so it's super Instagram foodie worthy. As for the food, they had a pretty wide selection of options, definitely more appropriate for breakfast/brunch/lunch, you won't have too many heavy options, more id you're looking for a light but still filling meal. I wanted to try one of the more unique and flavor-packed sandwich/salad options, but due to my pregnancy and inability to stomach anything, I had to go for something more simple, so i picked the grilled cheese, which was great with the mustard. My server, Vicky (I believe?), also recommended the watermelon mint juice, which was 100% worth it - tasted incredibly fresh and refreshing. On the note of my server - she was SO helpful, but not overbearing at all, and INCREDIBLY sweet. she had great recommendations, a wonderful personality, and felt more like a friend than my server! 10/10 recommend, if you're looking for an underrated and cute but still casual spot in the area. read more
Wanted to find a spot to eat that I can bring my dog since we were heading to the groomers afterwards and my fellow Yelpers brought me to the Cliff! (yes to pet-friendly establishments!) My friend and I were seated in their outdoor area (even gave us a water bowl for my dog which was appreciated)! The outdoor seating is definitely "Instagram-worthy" and just a perfect place for brunch/lunch. I tried the Avocado toast which was good - nothing bad about it but just not anything special. read more
I had such high expectations for this place but the food just didn't quite hit the spot for me. That being said, I can see how vegans/vegetarians might love this place as their dishes really cater towards that type of style. (Tofu, Avocado, Acai, etc.) Even though the cafe was nearly empty when we came in, we were still slow to be seated despite being stared at by the chef while walking in. I didn't really mind because we were able to choose where we wanted to be seated and opted to be outdoors. Their patio was lovely, colorful, and extremely creative especially with the umbrella covers (to the Instagram foodies over here). I give this place a low rating because I feel like the food was executed really poorly. The tofu was bland and no amount of ketchup could've saved it, unfortunately. The french toast tasted more like two pieces of bread that was poured over with the smallest amount of syrup. Perhaps it was just a bad day to visit The Cliff; and in no way am I discouraged to try again. The eating space they've curated is something to die for, and nevertheless a space worthy of revisit. read more
The cliff is a great spot in the jersey city heights. It's a vegetarian/vegan menu, something I don't eat/frequent, but I enjoy every dish I've had there. The breakfast burrito is legit with its beans cheese and egg with some great salsa. I've had the avocado toast multiple times, as well as the watermelon and feta dish. I think it's a byob, which is pretty great. read more

The downtown Jersey City feel without the commonly associated hefty price tag. That pretty much sums up this place in one shot. Although the food were good, the space/service made it hard to really enjoy the experience. There's a lot going on in a small space which isn't easy to do. At the least an extra couple of hands on the floor could make it seem less chaotic. All that aside, food was good and had a nice presentation. Everything was definitely fresh and their menu is certainly unique. It's worth at least a stop in. read more
The Cliff is seriously a gem in Jersey City! I completely loved the decor. The inside was beautifully decorated, just as the outside seating area. The different colored umbrellas is a trendy touch and helpful because I went on a sunny day. I went with my sister as a brunch date. The menu is vegeterian/vegan, which I don't usually eat but I enjoyed the brioche french toast and eggs I got. I also got a strawberry smoothie and it tasted very fresh! Definitely recommend this spot! read more

Such a fan of The Cliff. Brunch/coffee shop pick in the Heights if you are looking for healthy food made with care. Definitely get the kale salad (with salmon). Lacinato kale was cut into bite size pieces and was tender enough to enjoy. Dried cherries and sliced almonds mix perfectly with the avocado purée dressing. I can't imagine anything here would be anything short of amazing. All of the food is prepared with love and care. Plus it is healthy-ish, good for you. Maje points. Lots of different milk options. Dishes can be customized according to your dietary preference, too. So gluten-free, dairy-free, come here for options. Scandinavian inspired curated selection of beauty products are nestled on a wall. I haven't purchased any, so I'll report back when I do. The decor is the best. Inside there's lots of white marvel and plants growing. Everything is so cute! And there's an outside deck area open when it's warm outside. It's the perfect spot for a little impromptu brunch or even meeting. Closes at 5 PM. So only breakfast and lunch, and if you are like me, the afternoon latte and snack. read more

I visited this cozy spot the other week. Although the place is small it definitely earns some points through the trendy and hip interior. It was pretty busy during brunch time on Sunday. My mother raved about this place but I noticed the waitress poured water for other tables but my own. I ordered two dishes and was fortunate enough to be given a dessert on the house! Vegan Burger - The burger was a regular vegan burger with fries on the side. 2 eggs any style (Eggs, Arugula, potatoes, and bread) - It was pretty good breakfast dish. Brownie w/ fruit - It was an average brownie but pretty good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people in the area. Such a nice spot. It is a gem for the heights. read more

What is there not to love about this place! Everything about this establishment is super cute, cozy and their food impeccable. I came here with one of my friends for our Annual Christmas Gift Exchange and we were lucky enough to find parking right in the front and also able to sit by the window in their nook area. You immediately feel the coziness of the place when you enter and the aroma alone leaves you salivating for whatever it is they are whipping up in the kitchen. As an added bonus, it's BYOB place AND has a connection with a nearby liquor store so you can actually place an order for a bottle and they will deliver it straight to the restaurant! How awesome is that? Plus everything is freshly made here and you could taste it in their food. The orange juice for our Mimosas was freshly squeezed and if I remember correctly their fish comes from Iceland. The waitress was super knowledgeable of the menu and was key in helping us decide what to order. I ended up getting the Icelandic Cod Burger and they were able to replace the regular fries with their truffle version and my friend got the Nuevos Huevos Rancheros. I should also mention they have their own version of bacon made from mushroom...Yes mushroom! We didn't order it but it sounded soooo good and definitely want to try next time. We were able to exchange gifts and sip on our mimosas while the food came out. When the food arrived, our taste buds were in for a treat! First bite into my burger and I was in heaven. The fish was very fresh and flavorful and my friend also enjoyed her dish, which she let me taste. It was not your traditional Huevos Rancheros but the flavor was good. We also ended up ordering more truffle fries but this time it came with melted gorgonzola cheese on the side and WOW! That cheese was everything with those fries! They also let us taste their strawberry banana shake...yummy stuff! I really loved the service here and the quality of their dishes. I am looking forward to returning once its warmer out so I can sit in the back with the brightly colored umbrellas! Thank you The Cliff for making our exchange such a memorable one! :) read more
Very cute, delicious restaurant in J.City. I've dinned here twice, both for brunch and it was very yummy. I am sure their lunch options are delicious as well. My friend and I eat a lot when we go out for brunch and we got 3 dishes to share. All the dishes hit the spot. I recommend getting their coffee or pressed juices to go along with brunch (watermelon mint juice or matcha lemonade!). The outside patio/eating area is the cutest with umbrellas hanging from a string above. Very cute way to get some shade from the sun in the spring/summer. This restaurant mostly serves vegetarian/gluten-free options! read more
What a wonderful little hideout in the heights! Truly innovative vegan and vegetarian brunch options and the service was impeccable too. I loved the press avocado toast with a side of arugula - opted for the sourdough and it was simple and substantial. The husband had the cod burger - the patty was lightly grilled and even though it looked small, it was pretty filling. The razor fries were a favorite. Also has the watermelon salad with feta and it added a lot of zing to an afternoon brunch on a summer afternoon. I would definitely come back here to try the tofu scramble and other veggie options. Carnivores beware...they don't have any meat on the menu. The umbrella installation is totally wow and adds a lot of drama to the patio. #winwin read more

We have been several times and each time we are so impressed with how consistently delicious everything is. I honestly have dreams about the Atlantic Cod Burger, it's perfection. The bun is flakey heaven, the flavors on the burger are awesome and the burger itself just melts in your mouth. They also have fresh squeezed juices, the watermelon mint is the best we usually take one to go because 1 for each of us is just not enough. The place has a a great vibe with tons of greenery hanging on the walls, cozy seating and the nicest employees! read more
Found this lovely establishment on yelp. My friends and I wanted to do a nice brunch here on Sunday. I called ahead to see if I could make a reservation but they said they only make reservations for 5 or more. Parking wasn't too bad, it's in a sort of residential area. All of the tables were taken when we got there, so we sat on the couches and ordered coffee. We waited for about 10-15 minutes for a table outside to clear. The wait is kind of long for drinks. They even forgot my friends coffee at one point, but they apologized. I love that they have vegan options there, you don't see that a lot. I ordered the tofu scramble and had an iced coffee. 4 friends split the bill and it was only 15 each. The tofu scramble was very tasty and flavorful. It has roast potatoes, greens, and toast that came along with it. I would definietly go again. The staff was really nice and the outside seating was wonderful. read more
Weekend brunch review..... This was actually my second visit after having been here last weekend. It is a vegan/vegetarian place but you will never miss the meat. Their dishes will tempt any person's appetite and the flavors are on point. They opened a couple of months ago and the outdoor patio, although quaint, was pretty full on a dreary day. For drinks we each had the iced coffee, with myself requesting and getting a shot of espresso added. The Mrs. had the omelette special which consisted of tomato, basil and mozzarella. It was accompanied by roasted potatoes, a refreshing arugula and whole grain toast. I in turn enjoyed what I had last weekend so much that I ordered it again, the Acai bowl. It was served with plenty of fresh fruit, bee pollen and chia seeds. I kept getting brain freeze eating it so fast. Look, if you want to break up the monotony that can be weekend brunch, The Cliff is like a breath of fresh air with their menu. Mediocre burritos. Would not order that again. Outdoor patio only had a few umbrellas instead of what we expected as a beautiful patio. The table next to us was very close in distance and had a loud party of over six people. read more

#TheCliff is a new addition to the heights. I was able to stop by with some of my favorite Yelpers for a Saturday brunch. We all were very pleased with our experience. The place has a few tables but the environment is inviting and cozy. They also have a back patio area that we weren't able to sit in because of the weather (boo). The brunch menu had some great choices but I decided on the Brioche French Toast topped with mascarpone, almonds, berries. Delicious. A side of scrambled eggs paired perfectly. I ordered an ice latte and it was great. I always feel like I need to go a little further then what I would like to get myself a decent iced latte but seems like The Cliff is a contender to be one of my top choices. I am a bit disappointed that the small latte is $4.00 and if I compare this to my next place- Black Rail, I can get a medium at the same price tag. What a gem this place is. Talk about a neighborhood staple! As jersey city gets more and more popular, the neighborhoods outside of downtown continue to change and with that comes places like The Cliff. Eva, the owner, is so lovely. She's the epitome of what it means to be a community-focused eatery. I see her and her husband tabling at so many local events. This spot in the heights is so cute and cozy! I love the little nooks by the window and the lovely decor. The food is excellent... breakfast brunch and lunch classics with their own twist. Avocado toast is a must but I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu there! read more

A must visit! The brunch here is a wonderful experience. The food is fresh and delicious and the I appreciate how much the owners and servers really care about the customers experience. My wife and I have dined her in back-to-back weekend and we will surely keep coming back. I highly recommend their "bowl of..." and their Nuevos Huevos Ranchero. My wife swears the their kale salad is the best one she has ever eaten. Thanks for everything and keep up the amazing job. read more
My walk brought me to the congress st station so decided to go up the cliff to try out Cliffs. You might miss this place as does not look like much. There is more seating out back which on a nice day is the perfect place to get some brunch. The do not have alcohol but do have virgin versions of brunch cocktails so need to bring a nip to make a real blood Mary. Service gets 5 stars based on willingness to add mint to lemonade. Not sure why not on menu as put mint in watermelon and have the lemonade. It would be better if mint allowed to steep in. The French toast looked amazing but like most thick cut toast was a bit dry. I wish the bread was half as thick and got 4 slices. Also could use less marscapone and more syrup. Fruit tasted fresh. Food gets 3. On a sunny day this place gets 5 star as perfect backyard. The main part is very cute as got all the requisite cute cafe coffee shop look. read more

Went here for a birthday brunch and it was amazing. All veggie options and BYOB. The fresh juices for mimosas were awesome and food was super flavorful! Staff was super nice. Even with our big group they were very understanding and helpful! Would definitely come again! read more

With all the new food spots opening up left and right in jersey city, they are all seeming to play the same tune and the excitement of a new business wears off - but this place stands out. The menu is interesting and not overpriced, the service is nice, friendly, and I really like the atmosphere. We sat in the backyard and had acai bowls, loved it. We live around the corner and am thankful for a place like this to open nearby. We will be back to try more ! read more

Stroll into The Cliff for a quick escape from Jersey City without actually leaving Jersey. I haven't been to California (yet), but -- between the menu options, the decor, and the service -- I felt a very California cool vibe. Before my friends and I stepped foot inside the manager meets us by the door to escort us in. It was an impressively warm welcome. I don't know about you, but that hasn't happened to me at even the fanciest of restaurants. We sat outside in the back patio. I highly recommend sitting there if the weather permits. It added that extra oomph to the overall experience. - 4 Stars for Service & Ambience - How's the food? One word: REFRESHING. We went for weekend brunch and we had plenty unique options to choose from, including an array of non-alcoholic beverages. I'm not sure if this place is BYOB. We ordered the French Toast for the table, per the recommendation of our hospitable host. And, I will now recommend that to you. Then, I ordered the acai bowl and the rest of my companions ordered a delicious egg dish. Their meal consisted of an omelette of eggs with mushrooms, tomatoes, and goat cheese plus a small arugula salad, whole wheat toast, and potatoes. Honestly, I regretted my selection as soon as their food came out. Not that my acai bowl wasn't tasty, but the egg dish was next level delicious. - 4 Stars for the Food - Bottom line: go over The Cliff. read more

I can't stop thinking about this gem!!! It is absolutely stunning - I mean...without sounding like a ninny...this place is "gag-me-with-a-spoon-beautiful"!!! I could've stayed here for hours!!!! Both I and my friend stopped here for a quick bite and we couldn't stop marveling at the great coffee,great food,great atmosphere...and by all means the great people that run this place. If I could give it 6 stars...I'd wish I could give them 7 We both ordered the cod burger with fries...yum & yum! If you're looking for a great place to eat or to catch up with a friend...you must pop in here. Absolutely darling.#swoon read more

This place is simply amazing. Located in the middle of Jersey City, you simply wouldn't ever expect to run across a place like this. The decor and staff are all very warm and inviting. If the weather permits, I recommend sitting out back. In the back, the restaurant has beautiful outdoor seating with colorful umbrellas hanging on clotheslines to create an impromptu roof that is fun and interesting. However, the real reason to come here is the FOOD! Everything here is fresh and made in the kitchen (excluding some specialty baked goods and bottled products). The food is divine. The omelette was made perfectly and had a beautiful balance of flavour from all the fresh ingredients. I cleared the plate and still ordered an açaí bowl to go. On my second visit, I had the french toast which was also quite good as well. I wasn't a huge fan of their tea but they were happy to let me bring my own tea bags. Overall, it's hard to find fault with this little gem. Parking can be a bit of a hassle but it's definitely worth your time to visit nonetheless. read more

First and foremost, this is a vegetarian joint! I wish they would add it to their description lol. Partially my fault for not checking out the menu ahead of time. Regardless, the food is delicious. I ordered the brioche french toast and it was one of the best french toasts I've ever had. Love all the fruit and coconut shavings on top. Very tasty. I also really enjoyed the berry lemonade. My wife prefers meat for breakfast/brunch so she was a little bummed when we discovered the mushroom bacon was the closest she'd get. Worth a visit for sure, and order the french toast! read more
