A great spot to rest after the Ram Head hike. We just wanted a snack so we ended up splitting a fried shrimp basket with tots as the side. Everything was super hot and crispy. Not our healthiest meal but certainly a good, comfort food meal. Service was very friendly and never felt rushed. Great stop.

The food was amazing and there was a great variety. If you want hamburgers or chicken fingers you have that as an option but if you are looking for fresh seafood you can get that as well. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. This is one of the places we are sure to return during our visit to the island. The staff at Surf Club Cantina were also excellent and very attentive and friendly. The owner stopped by our table on more than one occasion to check in on us and brought brackets to our kiddos. If you are looking for a place to eat on the east end of St John or if you are looking to escape the busier side of the island for a dinner with the family you will not be disappointed. Parking around back makes it easy to find a spot to park so long as you are aware it is available in the back.

The Rum Rib tacos were the talk of our group. Caribbean Jerk Chicken and Shrimp tacos were also great. We can had the Coco Colada for a drink. Go during Happy Hour to get buy 1 get 1 free. Also during happy hour the boat taxi was a bit cheaper. Water depth was about 5' deep and enjoyed floating most of the time because I was getting a little sea sick on the stools and lily pads. Our server Kara was very friendly and mad us love our entire experience. Food was the best we had in the island all week long. Must do experience, never done anything like it.

We were taken out on the shuttle and told we'd need to swim the final 10 yards or so. As someone who didn't exactly grow up in the water, that was easier said than done. I even had a floatie for assistance, but it didn't inspire much confidence. It was the longest two minutes of my life. To make matters even more exciting, the water was pretty choppy that day. To be clear, this is completely a "me" problem and not a reflection of the establishment at all. I just hope that one day there's an easier option for land-loving odd ducks like myself to enjoy the experience without convincing ourselves we're about to become part of a maritime rescue operation. Once we made it, though, it was absolutely worth it. We ordered a couple of margaritas that were fresh, strong, and delicious. I had the Spiced Tuna Taco and my wife ordered the Shrimp Taco. We absolutely inhaled them. I would've happily ordered several more rounds if I hadn't been mentally preparing for the swim back to the shuttle. The vibe was fun, energetic, and laid-back. Being from St. Louis, it was a happy coincidence that they were playing Nelly and Chingy all afternoon, which made me feel oddly at home. All in all, this was a stellar experience, and I would absolutely go back. I may just want to log a few more hours of swimming practice first.

Oh. My. God. The food is divine. You must try this place. This was the best meal of our entire…read moretrip. (Directions at the end.) Our original pick was closed for the month of May and by happenstance the owner recommended Sylvia's. We walked in and the place has just the essentials. There's a bar on the right and then the kitchen, tables on the left, and bathrooms in the back. The menu is on a white board with a cash only sign right below. There were about 6 mains and each came with two sides (4 options, the 5th sold out). Sylvia took our order and between the 4 of us we tried 3 of the mains and all of the sides. I had the fresh fish of the day, grilled in butter sauce. It came out head, tail, scales and all. Sylvia explained this as I ordered and let me know it was to keep all of the flavor. She also showed me how to slice it to avoid the bones and it was flat out delicious. We shared the sides among us, my favorites being the mash and spinach; though all were good. My boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken and it had some serious heat. He asked about the recipe and Sylvia mentioned that everyone on the island had the same request but no one ever got it. My friend ordered the homemade key lime pie; best she ever tasted. Some quirks: There's a bar and the restaurant that operate as two different businesses, so you'll get your drinks on one bill and the food on a second. Also, they are CASH ONLY; It cost us about $150 to get out the door for dinner for 4, drinks, and a generous tip. Sylvia serves her food in Sputnik Bar. If you're approaching from the northwest on Rte 10, keep straight instead of turning into Coral Bay (at the 107 split). It'll be about 1/2 mile down the road on the left.
