A recent experience here was unpleasant, though it was due to the presence of another customer rather than the staff. This location has a drive-thru that one can use to pick up online orders. However, my tourist friend had ordered a drink and wanted me to walk inside to get water for them (and didn't want to do it personally because she wasn't familiar with the parking lot). It was also because they did not offer water on the app. Seeing as her drink was not done yet I tried to nonverbally indicate to a staff member that I needed attention but they seemed too busy, so I decided to wait at the pickup area for the drink. In doing so, a random customer tried to strike up vigorous conversation with me about my belongings, which startled me and made me even more mute than I wanted to be before I came inside. He effectively put words in my mouth by asking me if I understood English, but I couldn't do anything other than mutter quietly since this was not an interaction I was prepared for. After a short time the cashier finally asked me if I was waiting for something so I flashed the order on the phone to nonverbally dictate that I was waiting for an order. I finally calmed down enough to be able to verbally ask for water, and they said it was $0.25, so I didn't want that, so I decided to ask for an empty cup instead to go to the Grocery Outlet in the plaza to buy water, and they said "the cup itself is $0.25". I declined, seeing as that I knew how to origami a cup out of a piece of paper already. After this I went back to waiting, and during this, the customer that tried to strike up conversation with me said to his companion "he's faking it". The drink was prepared shortly afterwards, so I collected it and left to get away from him and not have to engage in further verbal interaction with anyone. As a result of this experience I have decided to avoid physically entering this branch and I will only use the drive thru when possible, as I do not want to encounter randos that force interaction on me or have to ask for something that is not available on the app and is not on the menu as a dictated upgrade. I would not recommend this location--or anywhere in Lake Forest for that matter-- for anyone introverted or with mutism from social anxiety, since randos talking to me for no good reason occurs too frequently in this area. I never get interacted with randomly in the Coffee Bean branch in Irvine and I would prefer an identical experience here. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to share my experience today at your location. I was assisted by Julia, and I have to say, she provided phenomenal customer service. She was patient, never made me feel rushed, and took the time to answer all of my questions about the menu. While enjoying my meal, I also noticed how she interacted with other customers, and she consistently demonstrated the same level of kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism. I work in the food industry as well, so I truly appreciate and recognize great customer service when I see it. Kudos to Julia for doing such a great job! I had a truly disappointing experience at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf drive-thru on Friday 5/15. After I paid for my large iced coffee, I reached for it, and the cup clearly defective, ripped open from the middle, causing the coffee to spill everywhere. This wasn't a simple lid failure, the cup itself ripped from top to bottom from the center. As a result, the coffee soaked my clothes, my seats, floor mat, steering wheel, and even got inside the door panel and buttons. I spoke to the manager Erica, who said she would escalate this to someone higher. It's now been 2 weeks, and I still haven't received any response. I'm extremely frustrated because this damage has cost me time, stress, and now I need to pay for repairs. What a headache today. So, I always get a hot chai latte with more tea vs milk so it doesn't taste like hot milk. Today the girl said 'well I have to charge you more' after I pulled up to the window. Never have they ever charged more to ensure the drink doesn't taste terrible. I have been coming here for years, and out of nowhere you make up a new charge. She also had to scan my app 4 times, for what I don't know, so she probably should get more training. Your customer service is really going down hill which will have a larger impact than charging a customer more for a drink that tastes like trash. Your hot tea latte recipe is not balanced right and you are serving a drink that tastes terrible! Instead of punishing a loyal customer, maybe show appreciation to someone who brought a product you serve and is poorly made to your attention. read more

They were super helpful with helping me figure out what the vegan fall drink is! I have been so sad since Starbucks drink contains dairy even if you substitute it for a nondairy milk! But here I can just order the drink and it comes dairy free which is amazing! Great coffee taste and great balance of sweet and roasted beans! I am not pleased with whoever was on staff this evening - the hours clearly stated that the shop was open until 10pm and I arrived to order a tea at 9:48pm. As I'm sitting at the drive thru waiting to order, lights still on inside, computers still visibly on, I see the lights be turned off, and nobody says anything to me over the speaker. This is poor service and I hope the person working the evening shift tonight gets written up for closing early, at the very least. They didn't even have the decency to say anything about closing over the speaker or anything - even though they shouldn't have been considering there were 12 minutes that they were supposed to be in service. I worked in food service once upon a time, and I know it's not fun, but if it's your job, you do it to completion. Absolutely ridiculous! I won't be going back to that location, for sure! read more

This morning I went to pick up a DoorDash order for a customer and I asked if the order is ready and it was not ready so I asked if I may use the restroom. One of the employees didn't wanna let me use the restroom. Azdure her name not sure if I spelt it right told me that it's for customers only technically but I am a customer. I'm picking up for the customer so that makes me a customer. I love coming here when I need to focus on a project for school since it's so relaxing and never too crossed since they have drive thru ! Update The Coffee Bean removed my favorite sandwich from their menu board and then about a year later stopped carrying it ( probably because they didn't sell many because it wasn't on their menu board ) I emailed corporate encouraging them to put it back on their menu board when they removed it. Wow! I would have given a 5 star review! I found this place and gave up my regular place and started coming regularly with my friend. Good coffee. Some of the workers are very friendly and kind. That is spoiled by the others who gossip about customers, get snarky with you, etc. I always order a large hot Americano, and ask for the half and half to be steamed and spooned on top (less calories; and, half and half is typically free). Suddenly, they started charging me $7 for my coffee, and after I tell them it's always been $4.95, their excuse is that not everyone follows the rules. This place has terrible customer service. Person that took my order seemed bothered for some reason. When my name was called my drink was slid to me across the counter overflowing. Didn't even have the customer service to wipe and had to request several napkins to wipe down myself. Employees should learn how to smile and say hello. read more

I really miss the one Coffee Bean that used to be down the street but closed during the pandemic. This new Coffee Bean & Tea leaf's staff doesn't smile, has a hard time with making changes if you have a dairy allergy(like I do), and seems to be in a rush every time I go. Also, I'm sad that the tea latte selection is very limited as they concentrate more on coffee drinks. Plus, you no longer can ask for the NSA chocolate for your drinks. Sadly, not my favorite place to grab a drink. read more

The coffee products at this location that I purchase, such as the Midnight Mocha, the Peppermint Mocha, and various flavors of iced coffee, are all high quality. The prices are on par with Starbucks, but also like Starbucks, they often have good deals on their mobile app such as BOGO's and discounts. That's the good news. Now for the bad: Too often when I'm in the drive thru, it seems like the workers either don't understand what you are asking for, or they get defensive if you show them your app for a discount and they don't know how to apply it. I've had to go into Karen mode and politely ask the manager to fix things. This location is also sporadic about modifications. Sometimes they'll charge you an extra 80 cents for changing the flavor of a mocha from regular chocolate to dark chocolate, and sometimes they won't. At Dunkin Donuts, I can add both sweetened and unsweetened flavors for no extra charge. I think a local California business such as Coffee Beanery should do the same. read more

Haven't been to Coffee Bean in ages!! I know my daughter likes it so we stopped in for a quick drink order. The girl who helped us was so nice and patient while I browsed the menu. She helped me customize the Vietnamese Latte. It was just ok. I did change the original so maybe that's why it was wasn't all that great. Love the nugget ice! My daughter got the cookies and cream freeze - sooo not my kind of drink but she loves it. Inside was clean, roomy and comfortable. Plenty of seating. There's a cute living room type set up with 2 couches facing each other and a coffee table in the middle. Lots of ports for charging, that a great plus. read more

Most of my visits here are through the drive thru. Today, I decided to go inside. When I came in, I even found a cool cup to buy and stepped up to the counter to order. There were 4 staff members. One guy at the drive thru who turned and saw me, another girl making a drink, her back was to me but she then turned to the side of the bar that I stood behind to complete the drink. The other 2, who knows what they were up to. None of them greeted me, or acknowledged I was there in any manner. I was the only patron in the store. I stood there for a minute, ready to buy the $21 cup and order when I realized they could care less. It was made clear that they didn't need or want my business, so I left. Before writing this review, I chose to go back in and speak to a manager. When standing there a second time waiting to be acknowledged, I noticed the cup was still sitting at the counter where I had left it when I was ready to putchase it. The guy finally asked me what he could do for me, and I asked for the manager. She came out and I explained what happened my first visit. Her excuse was that they were very busy and they had a huge order. That's never a good excuse not to greet people who choose your company to spend their money at. It takes a second to let someone know that you'll be with them in just a sec or even to just say Hi. Consumers want to know that businesses appreciate them. I did not experience anything like this today. I will be choosing somewhere else to spend my money from here on out. read more

Interesting interaction with an employee today- tasted like my latte was extra sweet when I ordered half powder and understanding mistakes can be made just double checked with the barista on the bar. Was just greeted with a blank stare and "did you order it half powder?" ..."yes?"..."then it's half powder." uhhh okay? No possibility that they could have made an error and no attempt to say oh is it too sweet- I can fix that for you. Left a bad taste (literally) in my mouth. We have been there the last two days trying to get through the drive-through. Yesterday we sat in the drive-through for approximately 40 minutes, even though there was only about four cars ahead of us. Today we sat in the drive-through with five cars ahead of us and we were there for over 35 minutes and still never moved. I don't know what is going on with this location, but they need some serious help or some new management. it was not because it was a holiday weekend. I used to order everyday from this location and everyone there is very nice and friendly. Except one lady ( Erica) unfortunately she is the manager probably. She is very tough person and always I avoid her , yesterday I ordered as usual my Expresso Macchiato and she is yelling at me in front of everyone was at the cafe saying what's wrong with you and your order , i told her my order made incorrect because she filled milk to the top of the cup while it should be only one spoon foam only. She said if you want only foam to be added then it's cappuccino and you should pay extra. Unfortunately she didn't even know what's the difference and i am wondering how the upper management accepted such a behavior like that. I'm. Coffee Bean on El Toro right near my house lost a regular Customer today, I went in this afternoon to get a refill on my morning coffee same as other days, and the girl told me that I would have to drink it in the store, CAN NOT LEAVE with my coffee. Whoa that is some serious control of people Coffee Bean is displaying. There are other places to get coffee, I would suggest ANY OTHER PLACE.
