I got the Winter Dream Tea and I HATED IT! It took me about twenty minutes to drink about one centimeter, until finally, I had to accept defeat (my mom also didn't seem to be a fan, though she said she preferred it with a shot of espresso). I very rarely ask for a drink to be re-made, but this time I did. I received great service; they were very willing to re-make any drink that I asked for. Those who know me, know I'm a Starbucks' fan - but I also adore CBTLs. In fact, I kind or prefer them over Starbucks. I just wish there were more CBTL's that were closer to where I live. This is our local Coffee Bean, located in a tucked away spot in the Vons/Trader Joe's plaza in downtown Redlands. Somewhat ironically, they are located across the street from a Starbucks. What I like about CBTL is that their selection of tea drinks, especially iced teas, has always been top notch. I drink more tea-based drinks than coffee ones, and personally I'm addicted to their Swedish Berries tea and their seasonal Cherry Blossom teas. They also usually have a really good selection of pastries and such to nibble on if you're hungry, and have an outside patio if you'd like to enjoy the California weather whilst you sip. Seating inside is also rather plentiful for the small size of the shop. That all being said, I rather like this location. The employees are always laid back and helpful, the store is always clean and well lit, and they don't have their music turned up to Patent Pending like Starbucks often does. Its a very relaxing, chill spot to unwind, study or just hang out. They offer free WiFi which has a very strong signal. I can hop onto it from across the street at Pieology! I highly recommend giving CBTL a try in general if your a Starbucks fan. This location is a GREAT place to start. Try a couple items they feature only here, like a Winter Dream or a Black Forrest, and I can almost guarantee you'll come back to explore! read more

This place is great. I used to frequent the Starbucks across the street, but it was too crowded for me. I recently went here to study for an exam while I was visiting my mum. There's free wifi but you get kicked out after two hours. You can log back in after a ten minute coffee break. The baristas are quite friendly too. I like the atmosphere. The only thing is that they close at 23:00. But I guess that's understandable since Redlands isn't really a night town. It would've been great though if they opened til later. read more

Usually coffee bean is a nice place to go for coffee and I really like their flavors, but recently the customer service has been so lacking. The employees behind the counter are far more interested in talking bad about other customers than taking your order. Seriously this one tall employee with a beanie was literally shouting to the other employee on the register about how stupid their previous customer was and how he was so upset with the service....hmmmm well he's just proving his point about their service. While the guy on the register was busy fixing his shades and sipping on his own tea couldn't be bothered to do his job. The whole interaction was terrible, do these guys even have a supervisor? Or does that person just allow all the employees to speak poorly of customers IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS. Poor management. Sad, I used to love going there. read more

I love Coffee Bean. The coffee is 100Xs better then Starbucks! Here at the Redlands location, they are quick! Never waited more then 5 mins to get my cup of joe, even on a busy day. I love that coffee bean offered soy, almond and coconut milk way before Starbucks did. My regular is a Cafe Mocha with coconut milk. During Valentine's Day, they offer a Rose water coffee. I actually became reintroduced to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf coffee from a breakfast at The Breakfast Shack in town. After that simple cup of coffee (the best I'd ever had at a restaurant) I thought about it every day so I had to come in and try it again. I think it's my new place for coffee. Btw their hot drinks STAY hot! I also love their app, you can see the entire menu AND prices, you can even order from it and earn points for free coffee. Alright, gotta pay props to the hometown Coffee Bean so this will probably be my longest review ever. My mom introduced me to Coffee Bean when they first opened at this location, probably when I was in 7th or 8th grade. That was the beginning of the end for me and they really won my heart. I came all the time to study here in high school, also before or after school and even made a trip here during class once when one of my teachers allowed me to ditch to get her a drink. The staff is super friendly and adorable and I think maybe one of the original employees is still there (yes, I remember them). They know my best friend and me by name and drink. Here's an embarrassing story that only proves my addiction: I had heart surgery last year and as a post-op treat my aunt went to get me a drink. She didn't know what I typically ordered so she asked the barista, "what does Aubrey order?" and he questioned whether I wanted my usual hot or cold drink. Dear lord, I should own stock in this place. I always get either a mocha or vanilla ice blended or the latte version if it's cold. All in all, this is a Redlands "staple" and a hangout for the local high school kids, as well as church prayer groups, the occasional creeper and that really weird guy who opens all the blinds. You'll probably run into someone from high school you don't want to see or even see your high school econ teacher making out with her boyfriend. Just sayin. read more

Great place to study! Lots of outlets and tables. Free wifi with access code. There is a 2 hour time limit, then you're "forced" to take a 10 minute coffee break. No worries. You can log back on after the coffee break. It gets a little loud in here, so you'll need good earphones to cancel out the noise. Their tea lattes are also very delicious. I got the Earl Grey Tea Latte. Forgot the price...it was around $3.50ish? IDK...either way, it wasn't the cheapest, but it was tasty. I would get it again just so that I can drink it and study here at the same time. :) Oh, an annoying thing about this place is that you'll need a token to get into the restrooms. There are two stalls in the women's restroom, but you'll still need to get a token to get into the restroom. It's annoying because you wait in line, and some people really take their time ordering, and you really really got to go to the restroom! read more

The staff are all really nice people and they have great suggestions when you're not sure what you're feeling. As opposed to Starbucks, they use powders for their drinks. This is a fairly huge place and they have complimentary wi-fi with the purchase of a drink. I didn't know this place was part of a chain, because the drinks are so good! I ordered the White Chocolate Ice-Blended drink. It was like a little heaven with each sip I take. In constant search of a new coffee work space, I happened upon this venue.The blended chai latte is beyond imagination delicious! If you are lucky enough to catch a cushiony seat on the sides - stay put and enjoy yourself. If you come with a crowd to study, you're also in luck as they have a very large wooden table in the center that easily sits 6-8 people. They do play music, so if that distracts you easily, bring earplugs, or listen to your own music. Plenty of outlets to go around, unless you're outside... And the wi-fi is very reliable. Coming back? Its a franchise- so you either love it or hate it. But, this location serves it well. Drinks: My go-to is the basic Iced Vanilla Latte. Can't really go wrong here - usually pretty consistent. Prices are expensive for coffee but pretty subpar with normal coffeeshop rates aka $4 drinks. Ambience: Its clean, quiet and has a friendly staff. That plus ample tables and outlets and you got the perfect study spot in Redlands. Both outdoor and indoor seating available and reliable Wi-Fi. The location layout is very smooth and similar to fancy coffeeshops you see on TV. Plus its located in the center of Redlands with grocery stores in the same plaza and downtown just a few blocks down. read more
