Since 2020, this place has gone down the drain in mostly everything! From good customer service to asking for simple napkins and utensils. Since they hired a new mgr back in 2021 or 2022, this place feels negative. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I usually come here often to study and I'll start by sitting outside then work my way inside once it starts to get dark.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I do not buy a drink every time because I just want to focus on studying. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didn't buy a drink today but I did sit down to study outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After a while I came inside to use the bathroom but was told that I'm not allowed to use the bathroom unless I buy something. Understandable. I didn't want to buy anything so I went next door to use the bathroom and came back to resume studying inside instead of outside again. Right now around 8:48pm one of the baristas came up to me, I usually see her when I come, and told me that I'm not allowed to sit inside or outside of the cafe unless I am going to buy a drink. It made me feel unwelcomed because she first interrupted me while I was studying and she waited until the end of the night to tell me that I wasn't allowed to sit in or outside without buying a drink. I most likely won't come to this location again because to be honest that really bothered me and it felt as if she were keeping an eye on me the entire time I was there. I'm not bothering anyone by sitting down to study without buying a drink so I kind of find it rude that she felt the need to tell me I'm not allowed to be there without buying anything. I was in a rush to use the restroom and afterwards to buy my favorite drink from there! I kindly ask if I could use the restroom because it was urgent. The staff member Vanessa said only for paying customers. I was like not to point out the obvious, but I really needed to use the restroom. She said to wait 15 minutes because she closes in 15 minutes, luckily Krispy Kreme Doughnuts was next door. I used to really enjoy coming here to relax with a tea, but not anymore. Their new policy on bathroom use is grossly inconsiderate. If they are going to require that you wait in line at the register to request use of the bathroom, then they need to have a barista regularly stationed at the register to accept such requests. Also, they will let other people go ahead of you to use the bathroom, despite that you asked for the bathroom first. They really need a better attitude toward customer service. Lots of other great coffee shops in the area, never go to this place again. read more

Well, when I invited them to Coffee Bean for the 1st time. Had them try my all-time favorite Hot or Iced Americano with Hazelnut powder. My darling Yelp friend Dee A mentioned that drinking coffee before a workout burns more calories, so I stopped by here on my way to the gym to grab a cup. (Plus, I needed something to warm me up.) I received a very friendly welcome from Jose and Sophie when I walked in. They were both so sweet. Jose took my order - a regular medium roast (black) and a coffee cake. As I was paying Jose asked if I wanted a stopper. I wasn't quite sure what that was but said, "Sure." Turns out the stopper was the best thing ever invented! It kept my coffee from spilling all over the car and it helped it stay hotter longer! Woo Whoo! The medium roast was smooth yet robust. It hit the spot and I enjoyed it. I tried the coffee cake when I got home. It was ok. It was moist but lacking in flavor, and I didn't taste any cinnamon. Oh well. The store is spacious with a relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of tables inside and a small seating area out front. Next time I drive by I'll be sure to stop for some coffee. I've been coming here for years and have always appreciated the friendly and quick service, plus their iced coffee and iced earl grey are the best. I dropped by at 9 AM on a Saturday and it was fairly empty. They were well stocked with water, snacks and baked goods. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and jalapeño cheese bagel and was so happy with them. Very happy that this particular coffee bean location has improved. A few months ago, I did not like how our coffer orders was prepared. I used to work for this franchise 18 years ago, so I know when the coffee is prepared well or if the barista is being lazy. Today's crew was very good. Friendly, energetic , and seems to be happy working. They prepared how the coffee was supposed to be. A simple latte prepared well is really good. I absolutely LOVE this location and have been coming here for years. In all the time I've been here for my coffee or tea needs my order has only been incorrect twice. What I like is the staff will correct the order quickly and are apologetic. I also appreciate that they make an effort to get to know their regulars and that makes me happy. It get to the point that I just look forward to the different architecture of each location. This location looks quite elegant. The service here was quick. It wasn't crowded thankfully but the parking can be a little intimidating. There was nothing but twenty minute parking in front. If i wanted to kick back inside, I'm not sure where I would park. There is an abandoned restaurant next door with plenty of parking but I'm not sure if its a ticket risk. Blended Ice Mocha with no whip cream and a Lemon Loaf is my go to. Had that to go. Its a decent size CBTL located on one of the busiest streets in South Padadena on Fair Oaks Avenue. As much as I want to frequent this location, it takes soo much from me to actually come here. Living literally 2-3 blocks away from Starbucks and being a diligent Gold Star member, I tend to go there instead. One of the main reasons why I gave low rating is because of parking. Parking sucks, a lot! Theres no parking available!! Only street parking but you got to be extremely lucky to find one. I am good at parallel parking but some people are just horrible and they hold up the traffic even MORE on Fair Oaks Ave trying to park there when they see an open spot. They do have parking for Bristol Farms and other shops in that same plaza but I am not 100% sure if we can use that lot for CBTL. I do it anyway. Thats the only way I can get my drink. I personally like CBTL more. I really like their Genmaicha which SB dont have. It has that roasted brown rice flavor that I really admire. I also like Green Tea Ice Blended very much. I like the bitterness of Green Tea rather than that artificial taste of Matcha from SB. This is just my personal opinion. Everyone has different taste buds so I respect that. One of my GOTO drink from CBTL has to be the Iced Apricot Ceylon Tea Latte. I LOVE THIS DRINK! I cant have coffee because it gives me the worst headache and stomache whatsoever so I am all about teas. This drink is soooo good! I love that tea flavor blende with vanilla powder which adds subtle sweetness. So good! If you havent, please go try it. Warning though, if you dont like tea, you probably wouldnt like it. All my coffee lover friends said no but who cares? I love it so. Staff is generally nice. I have seen some that are impatient than the others but I understand. They dont offer many seatings inside and is filled most of the time. Restroom is also available in the back by where you pick up your drink! ONE MORE THING! CBTL does have an APP and offers rewards program just like the competitor! Today my boyfriend came in today and order a small hot caramel latte with extra caramel. The tall slender gentleman left out of the extra caramel.
