    Birria tacos
    Trini M.

Stopped by on Friday for lunch after running errands with the family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place had just opened, so it was empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We wanted to catch the game that started at 10 am, but unfortunately they weren't able to put it on for us. The food menu is pretty limited. My husband and I ordered the birria tacos and he also got the esquite, while our son went with the Dirt Dog. What I did like was the large selection of tall cans... my husband got a draft beer and I had a White Claw. Based on the menu pictures, I had higher expectations. My son devoured his hot dog, which looked really good, but the birria tacos were a letdown. They were really small, and while the price reflected the portion size, I still wasn't impressed with the taste or quality. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot seems like a cool spot to hang out, grab drinks, and watch games, but the food left something to be desired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

SMALL Dirty Chili Fries, Elote Dog

The menu is great if you want a cheat meal! I got the chili fries and the elote dog. I recommend getting the lobster roll bun instead of the hot dog one! It's super buttery and crispy, similar to cane's bread!

    LA L.A. Cheesesteak

Stopped by The Compound and tried the LA Cheesesteak and the Chili Dog, and both absolutely delivered. The LA Cheesesteak topped bacon wrapped dog was loaded -- tender, juicy steak with perfectly grilled onions, melty cheese, and a soft toasted roll that held everything together without falling apart. Super flavorful, rich, and exactly what you want from a legit cheesesteak. The Chili Dog was just as impressive. The chili was hearty and well-seasoned, not greasy, with crispy bacon, fresh onions, and herbs on top that added great texture and balance. Messy in the best way possible. Portions were generous, food came out hot, and everything tasted fresh and made with care. This is definitely the kind of spot you come to when you're craving indulgent, satisfying street food without the hassle of hunting down a food truck or cart. Service is swift and on point.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The Compound must be the Dirt Dog headquarters because it's massive and is set up like a distribution warehouse.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came here for a music event in the evening and although they typically close at 8:30pm on Saturday, they continued to serve food till 11:30pm for event attendees. I appreciated them for doing that! All the staff were really nice and service was decent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked away in an industrial area of Commerce, you'll pull up to a large lot with a spacious outdoor seating area with interactive games for kids and a dope mural of Kobe, Snoop, Ice Cube and Nipsey Hustle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entering, you can order at the bar and checkout the cool hip hop art work displayed throughout the dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They must have some awesome events utilizing the empty warehouse next to the dining area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The sound system was bumpin and the crowd was vibin the night I was there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the Elote Dog ($12.50), which was a bacon wrapped hot dog topped with corn, lime mayo, cotija cheese, chili powder, cilantro and bacon bits. It tasted just like the street corn I buy from my neighborhood vendors and I'm glad I opted for the buttery lobster roll bread. If I was more hungry, I would've tried the loaded fries, churros and fried oreos with horchata whipped cream! Next time!

The restaurant was closed when I arrived today 6/12/26 2pm . I look forward to eating here every Friday after class but the security was rude and uninformative , I don't want to go back .

Tried this place for the first time. It was okay. I got the meal- house dog, esquite, and drink. The house dog has lots of toppings but towards the second half, it was spicy but there isn't anything spicy. Then the esquite was okay but it got salty... Personally, probably won't come again. If I do, I'll probably try the tacos.

I had no idea what to expect today, but I was seriously surprised. This has to be one of the wildest places I've ever walked into for the first time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Huge murals of hip-hop artists all over the walls, old-school 90s music blasting, the music I used to spin back in the day when I was DJing. Every song took me back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I had no clue a place like this even existed, especially hidden in the middle of some industrial complex. You'd never think thete would be a restaurant, but yeah, there is, and it's a cool one! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a big bar in the middle, and next door they've got a full-on venue for concerts and wrestling. The whole setup is sick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu? Totally insane. All the hot dogs looked wild, but I ended up going with the Elote Dog. This thing was loaded. Grilled corn, cotija cheese, mayo, chili powder, cilantro, bacon bits, and a fat slice of lime right on top. And this hot dog wasn't small either, you need a fork just to get into it. Every bite had flavor. The corn and lime together hit just right, the bacon gave it that crunch, and the cheese pulled it all together. Super good. This spot was a little off the route I usually take, but now I'm definitely checking out their other locations. This place was a great vibe and Jacqueline the bartender was super friendly and sweet too!

Caught this place last minute and met some cool people here. I will definitely be back this season for a game and a beer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibes were awesome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Ok so don't be scared by the drive here.... Between a bunch of warehouses is a good time waiting to happen! Delicious dogs topped high with quality toppings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great outdoor space![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Iconic murals and music blaring the only way LA knows how to do![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Beer and wine options and large tvs to display the latest fights! A great place that cannot be missed out on!

    Garlic fries
    Guillermo S.

I came in for garlic fries and a beer. Subpar service at best. The portion of small fries was smaller than kid's size in most other places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Music is blaring expletives.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not coming back.

Worst experience ever for a party. I went to go see Dani flow on April 3, 2026 and the wait to get in was an hour and half all because the gate person was not doing a good job managing the crowd. He just kept yelling at people instead of little folks in one by one. He always locked the gate and that made people push it. I broke my arm because the crowd was getting out of control....

First time here and I arrived around around 7pm to catch a Dodger game just to find out they close at 8:30pm on a Friday night. I still wanted to try their food so I had their Buffalo wings, fries, and their birria tacos (which I forgot to take a picture of). Overall it was a great experience, customer was outstanding, and the food was bomb!. They do have scheduled Dodegers watch parties so look for those dates on their IG @the_compound_la .

Is this place clean dog friendly?

Yes, there is an outdoor patio area. Another patron had their dog leashed sitting next to their table.

    Is it halal certified?

It's pork bacon wrapped, so I would say no

I had the House Dog and it was like getting one off a Street Vender in LA. Major compliment by he way. I got mine on a Brioche Bun which took it to a whole new level. Best Dog I ever had. The Garlic Fries hit hard too. I should have asked about the sauce that came with it but it had the consistency of Comeback Sauce but smoother and a pleasing bite of Roasted Garlic. I would eat it on a Shoe. The Cashier who's name is Kenya was very knowledgeable and told me straight up that everything was good but if I like a good Street style Dog than the House Dog was the way to go. The Brioche Bun just took it to another level. The Cook who's name is Carlitos made another batch of those Garlic fries that I had to have. OMG. He didn't speak much English and my Spanish is limited but over this food we had a whole conversation in Engspanglish. Lol. I'm looking for him when I go back. I'm always looking to Hire people like these two. Hey both just capped off my visit. I live in Orange County and I'm plotting a work trip to Downy very soon. I want to give a special thank you to them for making my usual Lunch exciting and pleasing. I would say I'm going I try the Elote Dog next time but what I ordered today ain't broke. Lol. I'll be back very soon. Y'allhollatchaboy!

Not only do they have many unique glizzies, but they also offer burgers. I've tried the following: - House Dog, which is their classic glizzy that comes with grilled veggies, house spread, mayo, mustard ketchup, and bacon bits. - Dirty Chili Dog, which comes with 100% premium all beef Nathan's 5/1 dog wrapped in center-cut bacon, chorizo chili, cheddar sauce, onion, cilantro, chipotle aioli, and bacon bits. - Elote Dog, which also comes with Nathan's 5/1 dog wrapped in center-cut bacon, corn, lime mayo, cotija cheese, chili powder, cilantro, and bacon bits. -Dirty Fries, which comes with chili-lime seasoning served with spicy ketchup. - Dirty Esquite, which is their version of the traditional Mexican street corn (elote). This side dish has lime mayo, cotija cheese, chili powder, cilantro, and bacon bits. - Single (burger), which has a single patty, American cheese, and caramelized onions on a brioche bun. I really like all of their street corn items: the Dirty Esquite and the Elote Dog. The House Dog and Dirty Chili Dog are your classic flavors, and you can't go wrong with either. Next time I want to try the LA Cheesesteak Dog and the DUI Dog, which in addition to the usual Nathan's 5/1 dog, center-cut bacon, bacon bits, it also comes with pastrami, carne asada, cheddar cheese, chipotle aioli, and cilantro.

This place is always recommended to me on Yelp anytime I try to find places to eat in Little Tokyo…read moreand technically it's in the Arts District, but it's within walking distance. I've had my brother and several friends say that it's good and since we were closer to this area for a pop up event, we dropped by and I finally had a chance to try it. We visited during the final game of the World Cup, so there was no more indoor dining, but there's a couple bench tables outside at the side of the building. Part of the building shades over the seating, so even on a pretty hot day, this worked in a pinch and there was a slight breeze too, thank goodness. Staff was helpful and and answered our questions. They also brought our order out to the tables outside, which was nice. They also took our trash and tray back when we were done too. Each table has ketchup, brown and spicy mustard if need be. Inside, you order and pay at the cashier, grab a number, and they bring it to you. There's a bunch of sausage links on display, as well as the sodas and you can see some of the beer that they have too. For our Sunday lunch, we got the: 1) Sunset Zero soda: -It's an imported German soda. Love that there's a zero sugar version. It's a citrus cola with ending vanilla notes. Way better than some of the orange Pepsi/Pepsi Fire they ran in the past. Nice to try. 2) Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno Peppers: -Unique combination of predator and prey meats all encased into one sausage. Also, not often you can get these meats as well. -Slight spicy kick to it from the jalapenos and rich, buttery texture of the meats together. -Each hot dog comes with 2 toppings and we got caramelized onions and sauerkraut with this which added a nice sour and sweet taste to it too. -I liked this the most of the 2 of them. 3) Pheasant with Herbs de Provence: -Nice savory flavor, but I was a fool and ordered this with the sweet and spicy peppers as a topping since they were different from the other toppings we got and I mostly just tasted the bitter aftertaste of the peppers that sort of overpowered the meats. My mistake if anything since the bites with just meat and mustard were delicious. 4) Groot of Belgian Fries: -Huge serving, way too much for 2 people especially with 2 hot dogs and we sadly could not finish it, but at the very least it came with 2 dipping sauces. -Before ordering this, I didn't groot referred to anything other than a Marvel character. -Fries had a rich, deeper flavor than standard fries, nice slight crispiness. We got it with curry ketchup and sundried tomato mayo. The tomato mayo was fine, definitely a lighter flavor and since the fries tasted so rich on their own, I feel like the curry ketchup was a more flavorful and better match. I love a good hot dog, so being able to try it with more exotic meats, flavors, and sauces makes it definitely worth stopping by.

The space has a dark, industrial vibe, and I loved seeing the sausage display when you walk in. We shared the duck & bacon, mango jalapeño, rattlesnake & rabbit, and the Klein. The duck & bacon was easily our favorite. It was juicy and packed with flavor. The mango jalapeño had a nice balance of sweet and savory but I wish it had more heat. The rattlesnake & rabbit was interesting but could've used a little more salt. I also loved the toasted buns, sauerkraut, and caramelized onions. The fries were fluffy inside but I wish they were a little crispier. I also loved their beer selection and they let us sample a few before ordering. If you go definitely get the Kasteel Tropicale!! It was my favorite beer of the night! The service was great and the cashiers gave us awesome recommendations. Overall, I'd definitely come back. It's a fun spot to grab beers and sausages with friends!

Any more sugar would make the sweetness overpower the savoriness. The signature Two Hands corn dog did not have much flavor. Maybe they skimped on the seasoning? Also, I do not think the ranch sauce complimented the corn dog well. Apparently the potato corn dog is a fan favorite. Personally, I think it has too much potato and the cheetos powder is a strange addition on it. For the filling, half mozzarella & half sausage is the way to go. You get the best of both worlds. Eat the corn dog while it is hot to get that cheesy pull. As for the dirty fries, they were crispy and good but the portion is too small for how much it costs. These are actually tater tots rather than fries. The dirty sauce that it comes with tasted like spicy mayo. This is a very small place without any seating. Even the parking lot is small. Inside, they have a self order tablet, which is kind of nice. Online ordering is available through their website.
